A Ranch Update and Big News From Our Family!

- It’s been a few weeks since our last video so I wanted to do a quick update and let everyone know what we have been up to. We’ve been working cows, weaning and shipping calves and all the other jobs we need to do to get ready for winter. We have big news from our family! We welcomed a baby girl into our family the other day and everyone is doing great!

We got our first freeze about Halloween but have had a lot of nights in the 30s and 40s. Thanksgiving was 66 but today was in the low 40s with north wind. We really need a wet winter to help end our drought. Take care!

Congrats Brother. Looks like plenty of feed if theyre still grazing (thinking about last years videos). Just gotta keep them elk off those bags all over again lol. Cheers to the whole expanding family 🍻🌬🍃🍁🌾🦃
Thanks! We are hoping to have plenty of feed this year and not having to stretch it as much as last year. They say we are supposed to have a warmer and drier winter than normal but I will believe it when I see it haha. It’s been a beautiful warmer than normal fall though. I feel pretty prepared for the elk this year haha.
Good to hear about the new addition to the family. Just in time to hunker down for the winter great time to bond and celebrate with the family. Boy that fence looks great those Elk will have to really work to get into your hay yard, those yearlings look good and heavy also. Just got back from a week in Maine didn't even see a tail, got a few Partridge and saw a couple of Turkeys but no deer, until we got home there's plenty of them around here. Dad's are suppose to be BIG Softies..LOL. Yes I see Tyler has started feeding. You two guys are the hardest working boyz I've seen in a long time. You both have worked your butt's off to up grade and get ready for winter. Stay well, best to you, Mrs. Luthi and kids!

Congrats on the birth of your little one, glad to hear mom and baby are fine. Up here in central BC it's mostly above freezing, but we have just a touch of snow. I don't think folks around here are feeding much yet, but when it turns, I expect it to turn hard this year. Stay safe, hope you winter well.
BC is one of the prettiest places I’ve been to. I’ve drove through northern BC a couple times on my way back and forth to Alaska. After the winter we had last year I would be happy if we didn’t see snow until December haha. We’ve been lucky with a long warmer than usual fall. Take care!

Thank you! I’ve heard being a grandparent is the best. Our kids are the first grandchildren on my wife’s side of the family so they seem to get plenty spoiled by grandparents haha

Congrats! Given your name and blue eyes, am I correct in guessing that Randall is a new grandpa? I don't know him well, but I worked in state government back when Randall was in the legislature, and I know he was from Star Valley as well.
Thanks for the comment! No, Randall is not a new Grandpa. My Dad and Randall are cousins though. There are a bunch of us Luthis here in Freedom and my Dad would actually help run Randall’s ranch for him while he was away in Cheyenne or DC. I’ll mention to him you said hello.
What price did you get per pound on you calves. Hope you get all the hay you need. Have a great Thanksgiving.
I think we will have enough this year, I need to sit down and finish figuring the numbers. It was a great year for selling calves. We got $2.50 a lbs for the steers and $2.30 a lbs for the heifers. Both heifers and steers were in that 500-600lbs range.
