Ebay screwed me as well. I sent guy a brand new unopened with original shrink wrapped serial numbered headset with pictures of the original box and the shipping box on the scale with the printed postage paid label first the guy claimed he didn't receive the item, so I told him fine we'll do an insurance claim. Note: I have and provided the original invoice from my supplier to prove the item was legit not stolen etc. Since Ebay has become a fence for stolen merchandise. When he realized the insurance claim would find out he received the item and he wouldn't get a refund he then changed his claim to item not as described he never sent the item back Ebay fully refunded him and kept their percentage cut on both the item and the shipping cost. Ebay took the money out of my account, refunded the guy both the product cost and the shipping. So, I paid for the product he kept the product and I paid Ebay's fees and none of the 3rd world customer service agents would not help me and after awhile I was just wasting my valuable time attempting to deal with Ebay so I had to walk away and quit investing my time with them. So the scammer got a free item and I paid Ebay and the post office to let him steal from me. Fuck Ebay!
Yeah, I give items to charity rather than sell them on eBay - some of the stuff is theoretically worth hundreds of $$$ but I can't be bothered with the hassle.
back in the day i sold a couple of nintendo 3ds on ebay. one opened item not as described, i received a destroyed 3ds back. looked like a 2 year old had been given it to chew on, and the game slot connector was snapped off inside it. the ebay rep simply instructed me to close the case so they could set it up as something else, a fraud claim or something, i cant remember. so i closed it, immediately the customer got a refund, and ebay refused to hear any more on the matter. saying case was closed in favour of the buyer so that was the end of it. i stopped selling on ebay years ago because it really is that bad.
JEFF, I've been hating ebait for a long long time and I hardly ever buy anything from them so you have helped me decide to cancel my account with escam!!! Thank you for sharing.
Now it makes sense when you see a seller say that he/she will cancel any bid/offer from someone who doesn't have a certain number of positive feedbacks in the last 6 months.
Porch thieves and FedEx leaving packages by the road is what's really changed in the past few years. I've had several things say delivered and I'll go straight to the mailbox and it won't be there..
I sell vintage electronics online. Had a buyer return an item he had purchased from me with the guts of the amplifier removed and replaced with ROCKS! There are some real low life trashy people out there.
Same here, sold a restored Sansui amp. Returned due to not working. Opened it up and the buyer swapped out one of the circuit boards with a unrestored burned up board. No more ebay for me.
A kid was selling pretend drivers licences on the dark web. Another kid aged 14 wanted one and he said no too young it too dangerous for you. The kid doxed him for that. Just curious what is stopping you doing the same? ua-cam.com/video/CYaR9gAuNic/v-deo.html
Same here, sold a brand new water pump, scammer returned a rusted wheel hub. I was eventually refunded, but its the time wasted dealing with these fukwits
Sadly Ebay is full of these types and Ebay ALWAYS err on the side of the crook unless you can prove irrefutably your case (which is nigh on impossible!) Glad the scammer was found out. This type of scum has been around for ever though, back in the 70s my dad used to break vehicles as a side business and sold a factory reconditioned BMC 1500cc diesel engine to a fella. It was a top engine and the guy test drove the engine in the vehicle before purchase, he was delighted with it. Now, for those in the US & elsewhere, a factory reconditioned engine was called a 'Gold Seal' engine and was painted gold, the originals being green. Fast forward a YEAR and the guy came back to our yard with an engine in a small trailer claiming the engine we sold him had thrown a rod through the block. My dad had his wallet out to reimburse the guy when I came along asking what the problem was. When he explained I told the guy, quite bluntly, to f&$k off as the engine in the trailer was an original GREEN engine. My dad had forgotten but I hadn't!!
eBay has devolved to the point where I will not buy from sellers with less than 99% good feedback and over 100 items sold. I didn't realize now the sellers were getting scammed by lowlife buyers as well. The call center thing is frustrating as hell to me too. Amazon is the same now unfortunately.
I agree with you on the feedback ratings and purchasing, but some years back eBay went to a 12-month feedback rating which only uses the last year to calculate your feedback percentage. As an infrequent buyer and seller on eBay with 23 years of doing this, I recently got screwed with this new policy when I got my first negative sellers feedback in 23 years from a person who did not like today's shipping costs (neither do I). This lowered my feedback percentage to 95% and remains well below 99% today as I do not sell many items in a year...it should be 99.9% using my 23 year selling record. Not all sellers with less than 99% feedback are bad sellers.
The scammery and the deceptive listings have infected just about every website I do business with. The website-owners do a very poor job of policing what goes, so it is very much buyer-beware.
That is a shame. I’ve never sold anything on eBay but I’m closing my shop and was thinking about selling machines and tooling there, but now it seems since I’ve never sold and have no rating, people will think I’m running a scam?
People don’t realize that you are more likely to get scammed by a buyer than a seller. This has happened so many times that I don’t even sell on eBay anymore. People would buy something and then return something else (or sometimes an empty box) and eBay always sides with the buyer, so as a seller you are screwed.
It's a mad setup for sure, if you get a win off ebay you're riding a wave. It won't last though. I bought some items from sellers who put their phone number on their ads. Meeting them in person to complete the deal. Got some bargains that way and ebay didn't get a nickle from it. Two cars and one excavator doing that. And over a hundred K on collectibles that I'm also over the moon about. Being a long term member with 100% approval rating has been a money winner for me.
Yep. eBay doesn’t give a shit about sellers. Strictly only care about the buyers. Which is funny because they’d make no money if it weren’t the sellers.
Almost nothing worse than a thief. I've had basically the same thing happen years ago on cylinder heads I sold on E-Scam. Glad you didn't get screwed. On a side note, I would pay big money to hear you attempting to communicate with a Indian with a heavy accent! Solid gold! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@nandi123 Is the accent the presenter has a South Carolina accent? Just asking because I am from New Zealand and my eyebrows are up around my hairline listening to him...
@@sociopathicnarcissist8810 Yes, but there are significant variations depending on which part of the state you are from. The are some videos on SC accents.
Was it Clearwater cylinder heads out of Florida? They also go by Odessa heads on ebay. They royally ripped me off. Communication was top notch before buying the set of heads and Communication was prime during shipping and then once I received the heads the only Communication from Clearwater was for the cores which I had laying around and just shipped off. A few weeks later I got the new heads out and installed the left side and noticed light through a valve on the right head when installing so I quit installing and contacted them with no reply. After a few attempts of contact I told them that I would have to take the heads to get the valves done again since the off centered all of the valves somehow. Paid $1,500 for the heads and the only reply was that I voided the warranty by telling them I had the heads checked by a machine shop.
The most common way they try to get me is " There's discoloration on the head pipe ( just an example ) and I feel like I over paid for the piece " . First I apologize for missing it , even though it shows in the pics , and offer them a full refund and shipping on my dime . Then they get to the point . " I'd feel a little better with a partial refund " . That's the game they try to play . I offer a full refund , they want some money back . Just flat no .....send it back if you want , but that's the only adjustment I make . Everything I sell is well worth the money and thoroughly inspected . It's only been 5-6 customers out of more than 1000...but they're still out there , lying to get over on ya
I quit selling on Ebay because of this exact issue. It's not worth the 30% they take, and then assume the buyer is always right on disputes. What a nightmare!
We stopped using USPS and only ship verified signature required on FedEx. If the customer seems dodgy we ship to the nearest FedEx store where they have to present an ID to collect.
@@powellmachineinc Agree, gonna do the same, Have some brand new ported/flowed heads I wanna ebay but nervous about getting ripped off on them. Society today has no standards...sickening. Keep at it.
Sir, I disgusts me to see an honest, hard-working, skilled craftsman such as yourself having to deal with scum-of-the-earth crooks like this. I started out in the tool and die trade and have immense respect for machinists and those dedicated to precision metalworking. I believe you are an honorable man and wish you success in your business and protection from vermin like the crook who tried to cheat you. Godspeed brother.
That said, plenty of people are willing to vote for a guy who lies constantly, as long as a certain agenda gets through. Liars should not be tolerated in any context that matters.
I'm glad he mentioned that eBay makes it easy for a seller to get scammed. All you can do is pray you don't have someone dishonest purchasing your items, and you know how that works.
I sell on ebay and I bought a high resolution security camera system for the office and lot. So for the shipping desk I got another camera and mounted it over the shipping desk so it can record every detail. I show the item sold along with the invoice showing buyers name and info all in the same shot together then box and seal it and tape on the shipping label showing tracking number name etc. All in the space of 60 seconds. Never had a problem where I have to upload a packing video to prove who and what was send but I got records of every shipment for 3 months back. I don't even sell expensive things so don't really need this but it was easy to setup so what the heck.
My Dad always said, there is nothing worse than a liar and a thief. I just started buying motorcycle parts on EBay and haven’t had to return anything…..yet. But this is helpful info. Thank you sir!
One scam to look out for. They will print the ebay shipping label to your house, but they will look up another road in your Post Office district that has a house with the same house number. Covering up your house/street road name. When The Delivery person scans the tracking number on the shipping label, it still comes to you as being shipped. Only it's at the other home. They hope the other home get the item and returns it, while they hope you don't notice and they pocket the money.
@@powellmachineinc Get the word out there. I do. If they start to see backlash and reduced profits it may change. BUT- it will more likely sell out become worse.
I was using ebay back in late 90's where we had to send cashier's checks! Lol and now we've got scammers being treated with white gloves so they can bring ebay a few bucks - usually at the cost of thousands in seller fees when a seller decides to leave for good.
I use a service here and then they are doing the same thing. I proved a guy was scamming. They didn't do anything about it at all I lost over a thousand dollars.
The Internet is full of scammers. I refuse to buy from individuals on there. I buy from companies that I trust. I refuse to sell on Ebay due to scammers trying to rip me off.
I like this guys approach to his channel. Even when someone is flapping his gums in the comments he explain in detail where he stands and allows the information to do the talking. Thanks for posting mate
I stopped selling Ebay years ago due to their policies. Everything goes to the buyer and ebay effs over sellers. I didn't sell $1 trinkets, nothing I sold was worth less than $50 but as high $10,000(almost). Luckily I only ran into a couple thieves but on those items it could of really hurt except due to insurance and precautions taken. I high quality scanned everything I could and or documented with high quality pictures and video of item being packaged. It got to the point of Ebay not caring and wouldn't even look at evidence anymore so I said enough of this. Not for the money they charge to sell something. Be very careful who you buy from or sell to on Ebay
I stopped selling on ebay after having several "customers" try this same exact thing with me. After picking up their parts/engine/transmission/etc in person they would complain to ebay and tell them i sold them the wrong part. Despite having a no return policy, ebay would basically tell me to take the item back and refund the money. Most of the time the buyer was sending pictures of their old part to them and saying that is what I sold them. Even after proving over and over that the buyer is trying to scam, ebay would give them their money back (not from me) and they get to keep the item. Each year I'm at SEMA I see the people at their booth and they ask if I use their site. It ends up with me going full rant on them. Usually the person I am talking to hands me a couple packs of their 10mm sockets and discount coupons just to shut me up and go away...🤣🤣
Another scam I saw pulled, FedEx dropped off $2200.00 at a place with no signature and the guy reported it never arrived. He asked me if I wanted to report my tires ($900.00) never arrived as FedEx dropped my stuff off there too. I didn't because I rather be honest.
I started selling SCT X3 and X4 handheld tuners on eBay back in 2015. Every one that sold, went to a scammer. They'd use it to tune their car, then file a claim with eBay stating the item they received was defective. The defective claim instantly bypasses the "No Returns Accepted" store setting. At that point eBay would automatically pull the refund + return shipping from my bank account. Most of the time I'd get a box of trash in the mail as a return. The couple times the handheld devices were sent back, they were purposely destroyed. So I basically spent a LOT of my own money to tune a handful of broke criminals cars. The rest of my inventory went into the trash, as does anything else of value I have that I no longer want. People don't deserve anything.
eBay policy has gotten so out of hand that I have given up selling parts there after over 20 years of never having much of a problem. Sellers are truly second class citizens with absolutely no recourse to eBay's ridiculous return allowances. "No returns" no longer means squat. Can't neg the scammers. eBay just takes your funds back and you get the pleasure of having to pay return shipping to get your now unsalable trash back. I feel your pain, friend.
I’m a Microsoft System Engineer and I have to knock back a couple of healthy shots of Fireball and a Valium when I have to get tech support with the Indian call centers. You’re already frustrated with the issue at hand and that not being able to understand what they are saying simple compounds the aggravation level by a factor of 10!!…. Believe me I feel your pain when dealing with overseas support. I guess I should learn Hindi as well as Spanish !!!! I’m telling ya we’re in trouble here in the states.

i feel you on the scammers and shipping problems as I ship 250k a month in new GM parts and accessories. we stopped using fleabay altogether due t their return and chargeback policies or lack of communication in general. their loss in revenue
I buy from eBay but NEVER sell on there. Rights are always on the buyers side. My friend sold new diecast models on there, more than a few times buyers opened a case saying broken, he had to pay return shipping and buyers returned their used model which was broken. Buyer gets refund and a brand new replacement model..mate gets screwed.
I guess I've been lucky when buying stuff on ebay. Well, actually I'm extremely cautious about who I buy from on ebay. But, I've never sold anything on there. I use to sell stuff on craigslist, but the last two times I tried the buyer insisted I go meet them at a remote location when there was no reason to do so. I told them that I will only perform the transaction in a police station while being witnessed by an officer. Which my small town local police agency is usually happy to do. Be vigilant and stay safe.

Jeeez this used to happen to me all the time with airplane parts. I'd troubleshoot over the phone for hours with the mechanic swearing they were our parts and that they were new and then come to find out someone had rebuilt our part and done a bad job of it. I was also sick of misinformation about complicated aircraft systems on the internet just leading people down some stupid path. There was so much of it I gave up trying to correct them.
I agree, ebay isn't what it used to be. I sold a real nice set of vintage Chevy side trim on ebay and the guy said they were not as I described them and wanted his money back. As soon as ebay seen they had been returned to me they refunded him his money. But instead of getting mine back I received a used set that was not worth anything. I tried to explain this to ebay but they really did not care. That was the last time I sold anything on there.
Damn I hate some people.. Why is there so many crooks out there! Another thing I noticed with eBay just eBay in general...is now when ever you wanna look up a specific item for your make/model etc it now is about boating sales for ANYTHING rather then what you wan't. Same goes for google searches anymore. It pisses me right off.
I quit eBay. I would sent a radio or other electronic part to the buyer, they would strip out the parts, tubes, knobs or whatever, then claim the product didn't work or come with the parts. they would then send back what was left in a box 3 times too big without any packing/padding further ruining what was left.....and eBay would let them get away with it. I would even document with video and with tamper-proof seals and eBay did not care....been done with them for 5 years now.
My sister sold a used $300 purse to someone who falsely claimed 3-4 weeks after the sale that the purse was a counterfeit. My guess is the buyer just wanted to use the purse for free for a few weeks. The scam buyers are rampant on Ebay.
I video and upload the packaging process and package weigh-out and shipping label application to the box nowadays, after I sold 3 items in one listing, and the buyer said they only received two and wanted a 33% refund. I called him out on it and instead requested a return and full refund instead, and then relisted the two I got back for double the original price. Same buyer ended up purchasing them, and didn’t mess with me a second time after I told him the full video was already uploaded onto UA-cam. But I’ve also struggled with USPS, so refuse to use them anymore as one of their “associates” tore open a very well glued and taped medium flat rate box, but still delivered a torn open empty box (that was registered as 8lb weight) but buyers doorbel cam showed the box being waved around by the postman like it was (clearly) empty. USPS refused the claim, and closed in their favour after the third appeal. So I started using fedex, and realized how it’s actually no more expensive than USPS is these days. I used to go out of my way to support USPS, but now go out of my way to not put any business their way.
When I get stuff from Rock Auto, it looks like Fed Ex rolled it here, box all beat up, torn open, always makes me wonder if everything is still in the box. When I ordered my aluminum heads thru Summit, I was REALLY worried about them as they were heavy. When they arrived, delivered by UPS, the boxes were in perfect shape, not even the corners were dented. I was pleased.
I am in Hawaii and a customer needed an item ASAP, so I was going to use USPS Express but then found UPS Second Day Air was roughly $20 cheaper, and it was delivered on time (USPS would likely have been a day or two late). I will definitely use UPS more often.
This is why I always check the parts regardless. The last plugs I bought for my truck I opened the boxes and 3 of the 8 were used!!! And the guy was in disbelief turned out 2 of his employees were swapping parts and selling used parts out of his store! He made sure the other parts stores in both counties were notified of what was going on. Turned out there were a few more who became unemployed!!
C-mon man. This is a fabricated story for sure. NO money in stealing spark plugs and selling them for cash. You have never even changed plugs have you? smh.
Agree with you about the call centres. I'm in Australia and have had the same issue with call centres in Asia like you. Very frustrating and time consuming and yer,at times it's like banging your head into a brick wall trying to get through to them. What really pisses me off to no end is you buy something and then a week or so later when it doesn't turn up they say the item is out of stock!. Great, I've just wasted 2 weeks for nothing. Why do they advetise it if they don't have it ready to ship.
Sounds similar to a lot of Amazon, you pay for the item expecting it will ship fast and get to you fast as you need it, and THEN discover after waiting on the tracking, that it's actually shipping from freaking CHINA and has to go thru customs and handover from one carrier to another wasting more days time! Ive cancelled several of those. What I really hate is you order something and it's marked "Shipped" because the LABEL was printed out immediately, so it wasnt REALLY shipped at all and could be sitting around a few DAYS before it actually goes anywhere.
@@HobbyOrganist I would note that while this has happened to me several times, Amazon has always stepped up and refunded me immediately. Unlike eBay which is a scammers paradise.
In the earliest days of the internet (arpanet) the few transactions that went on were between individuals and went something like: I'll send it and if you like it pay for it. There was a point in the transaction where the buyer had both the item and the money and the seller had neither. Now it's the other way around. There is a point in the transaction where the seller has both the item and the money and the buyer has neither. Further, businesses get to make up their own policies that are always going to be self-serving to one degree or another. Even further, there is never any doubt as to the quality or suitability of the money whereas there can be with the item. The bottom line is it depends on what side of the transaction you're on. As a buyer it's better to use eBay as it holds many sellers to a higher standard than they would set for themselves. As a seller ideally you want to sell direct as it gives you more control. Neither is perfect, only preferable based on perspective.
I am a Watchmaker and at one time I sold restored watches on eBay. I sold three high-end watches within a few days and a few days later received a return request on all three watches. The watches arrived completely gutted of entire movements-nothing remained but case and dial. eBay forced me to accept return and refund money. I lost 2k and I will NEVER sell another item via eBay because all they do is facilitate crooks and scammers.
I feel you! I stopped selling stuff through e-bay because of that same thing. The thing that was the final straw was I stopped working on craftsman mowers for the most part and decided to sell off my overstock oem parts, and I got nearly half of them back as returns with some used broken oem and even off brand parts.... And you guessed it e-bay didn't do crap about it....
A lot of this seems to be the category you sell in, I was on Ebay for over 20 years selling my architectural sculptures, never had even one problem, but you sell in a category like computers, electronics or maybe clothing and you WILL have probems guaranteed! I lucked out because most of what I sold and shipped cost close to $100 to ship, and to return something would have cost as much, but they were custom cast and usually 2-3 weeks between payment and shipping. The final value fees on Ebay were ridiculous plus the Paypal fee even added to the SHIPPING cost!! so if an item cost $50 for actual shipping and the buyer pays $50 for shipping, when the Paypal fee was taken out you wind up subsidizing the shipping costs out of pocket. OTH people gamed it as it was- they'd sell $900 item for $1 plus $899 for shipping and paid the fee on the $1 sale. I had a set of 4 small sculptures and only listed one, showing all 4 , with the option to order the others, many wanted the set of 4 so rather than listing a set of 4 I just sent a Paypal invoice for the other 3, I still paid a final value fee on the one sold and the Paypal fees for the 4 but it cut my final value fee costs to a more reasonable amount that way. Ebay also went downhill when they changed from paying for listings 7 or 10 days at a time to FREE forever until sold, THEN people started gaming the search results, one guy had salvaged antique garden gates, he must have had 50 of them all the same, rather than listing them on one, he ran 50 separate pages and it would appear on like the first 6 or 7 pages-- pushing every other listing further back where nobody is going to scroll back 8 pages, and the stuff was up there for YEARS!
I had one person I sold a laptop to, who told me it had a bad hard drive. "Ok send it back" I said. I get it back and the hard drive had been removed. No problem. I sent it right back to him as is and reported him to eBay. No problem since.@@HobbyOrganist
@@HobbyOrganist I have to admit your category is unique, the thing is I have sold some one off stuff I fabricated myself with some decent luck in the past. The problem with hobby stuff is exactly what you said there are people who have a bunch of the same junk filling tons of space with every tag in the dictionary, and some kind of bot pushing them starlight to the front. You can get a few sales in, but you have to make something different quickly because those people will latch onto your description and keywords regardless of if they sell something similar or not and take all your customers by pushing you so far down the list nobody will see you. I wish there was a way around all of this bs but I have not seen any sign of relief. Hopefully you have better luck than me with it!
I sell Auto Parts myself. People buy things. Install. Then want refunds. Even if they Destroyed the item. Don't get their way, Raise their voice. Threaten to call corporate. And find any little excuse, Like: "I'm religious" and don't appreciate what you said. After you tell them they get an Exchange, Not refund.
We’ve had stuff NOT delivered by the big three yet they say they delivered it. Did a neighbor get it? I don’t know. I wouldn’t trust the shippers either. They are hiring anyone now. Fortunately I’ve personally have been very lucky and it’s always worked out. They seem to not be able to find our house.
It can also be due to google maps showing your address on a different property. It’s happened to my neighbor several times. His address is shown in a field behind my shop building. His house is in the general area where the map shows his address, but it’s across a fence and on the other side of a tree line from my property. His stuff gets delivered to the front door of my building and sits there until I happen to go out there for something and see the package on the ground in front of the door. I always take his stuff to him when I find it, but that could be days after it was “delivered.”
Yes you are right. My house sits behind my nieghbors. My drive winds around behind him and google stops uou where there’s no house unless you see it through the trees.
By the way, even if you pay for extra insurance, it doesnt cover LOSS in their system or off your front porch or delivered to the wrong place! I had 2 crates shipping by UPS to California, tracking showed both arrived in a UPS terminal in that state, one tracking continued on to the client, the other sat there, I contacted UPS and they "investigated" and told me they couldnt find the shipment anywhere, sorry... I asked; "well, what about the EXTRA INSURANCE I paid for?" they said "I'm sorry sir, the insurance only covers DAMAGE or breakage" so WTF am I paying for extra insurance for???? I was never worried about breakage or damage in a PLYWOOD CRATE. Another time they dumped a shipment off on the WRONG porch- of an abandoned house, my client said tracking showed delivery to his porch but he doesnt HAVE a porch! on a hunch he walked down his street and found the box laying on a porch of an abandoned house 2-3 blocks away.
ANYTIME I SEND A HIGH DOLLAR PART OUT TO AN EBAY BUYER, the part is photographed, and a short video of the part being sealed for shipping. EBAY sides with too many crooks.
I feel for you. I sell parts on ebay. I can't stand how much they charge and how easy they make it for the buyers to rip you off. I have had several refunds taken from me and the buyer never even returned the parts. Not because I approved or allowed them. No communication from the buyer and ebay just allows them to.
@lylejohnston4125 ebay authorized the refund without my approval. The customer said the item wasn't as described and ebay refunded them. Took the money back from me and I just felt it wasn't worth the fight over the cost.
When you sell on eBay, always have 30 day return policy enabled, because if you mark item as sold as is, no returns, Ebay automatically thinks that you don't want the item back and refunds the buyer.

People learned that with Walmart. My daughter worked there and they said to her" doesn't matter take it back. It's not your money". That's crazy. People are buying the same thing and putting the old one in the box and returning the product to the store and getting over. People are dirty. Dam it sorry brother. People have learned if you yell loud enough Walmart will give you your way. And people try that everywhere now with the screaming and yelling and acting a fool. I hate dealing with the public. I work in warehouse production.
Alot of people got burnt in the beginning of Ebay so they started siding with the customer so they wouldn't lose them from buying or selling on Ebay. Been dealing with eBay since the beginning. But now the sellers are losing out to crooks. Instead of actually looking at a case by case bases they just side with the buyer. They better get right fast cause people are slowing down selling on eBay. Their own fault
One thing to remember....Ebay always sides in favor of the buyer. As a seller, I've been scammed, and it's almost impossible to convince Ebay, that the buyer is trying to rip you off.
If you get a buyer who wants to cheat you, and it's not the kind of item where you can clearly prove them wrong, you may well lose, their rules do favor the buyer. But their rules do provide protections for sellers as well. I've been on the seller end of several disputes where I wasn't at fault, and have won nearly every one. Part of it is being careful about how you describe and show the item, and how you describe what you are and aren't guaranteeing about it, and part is just that some kinds of items are more likely to attract cheating buyers.

An almost guaranteed way to prevent ebayers form stealing your product is to not accept returns. I haven't sold on ebay for a while but once I started not accepting returns and then sending them pictures of the actual items I was shipping when I was at the post office, with the clerk in the picture , and the tracking number that stopped all of the theft. I had people send me back a cue and then tell me that was what I sent them, they sent back a 50 dollar chinesem cue. That's why I started taking the pictures. Lose a couple thousand dollars a few times and you learn how to protect yourself !!!
I've even seen a guy video himself picking up the (return) box at the post office, driving all the way home, then him opening it with no interruptions, and inside was just scrap metal (it was a buyer that had done this scam before so he tried to record everything to protect himself); Ebay claimed that he could have edited the film and they gave the buyer his money back. I sold a guy a NOS set of radiator shrouds for a Honda ATC, he wrote me that I sent him used ones and "for that reason, I'd like a refund" (who would word it that way? I'd be pissed if I paid for something that was new and received it used), he sent me back 2 used junk radiator shrouds. Fortunately Ebay refunded both him and me, as I had no history of any trouble. That means he got 500$ worth of free radiator shrouds, not good, not at all; I got lucky. The Ebay model is to protect the buyer, not the sellers that pay their fees, it makes no sense...
I have expensive parts for JDM cars on Facebook free If you want them come and collect them and pay cash Too far I’m happy to send a video or you arrange a courier but I’m getting paid before the parts leave me and what happens when they leave isn’t my responsibility . I have gone 500 miles to buy a front end for a JDM car it’s just people are lazy and hope
That's a big reason why when I sold some silver bars I had locally, and the buyer would only pay silver value- I kept back my vintage Wall Street mint 10 oz bar because it's worth at least triple the silver value, but there's no way I'd risk selling it on ebay because you just KNOW someone will try and claim it's fake or they didnt get it, or it's damaged, or they'd swop it with a fake one, and I'd be out of luck.
The feedback rating is so important when dealing with eBay sellers and customers. I will not consider purchasing from anyone with less than 98%. Very accurate pictures and descriptions are a must. Even doing that I have had to do plenty of repairs on the items that have arrived.
You CAN'T SELL OR BUY ONLINE without a magic flying 4K camera that follows the inspection, packing, and shipping right into the customers hands! Good luck!
@@powellmachineinc I was really lucky as an eBay buyer with the opposite situation, where there's just as many crooked and crocked flea market sellers (emphasis on the fleas), who go ballistic if you challenge their "EXCELLENT CONDITION" description for slot car sets that their kids had trampled on the floor and played Dukes Of Hazard with for years, that MANY parents would have just packed in a dumpster, or HOT ROD, CAR CRAFT, etc. with all the key photo pages missing! In a couple dozen case, eBay told me not to bother returning the item and refunded me... cool, but I still had to hunt for what I was trying really hard to find! CD's are another big problem item. I had to buy Jesus Christ Superstar dozens of times, before I got BOTH DAMN CD's! LOL PATHETIC! Part of the problem is scammers and the other half is just simply clueless.
Good content.. appreciate the sellers points. It works both ways though, as a Buyer I've been in receipt of used / returns products claimed to be 100% factory new.. I always video package opening and close inspection out-of-the-box! on stuff that matters. 👍😎✊
I'm old and my hobby is restoring gravity fed vintage Honda's motor cycles. I don't do it to make money. I'm 68 with cancer and not tons of time. Ha. My 75 Honda Cb 360t I just fully restored (bought the bike in really bad shape and it took me 5 years because I got cancer and lost a lung and spent 2 years in hospital) I say that because this is work that I love. I have a regular job even though my wife is begging me to retire, but I don't know how. I like my day job and I like getting grease under my nails. Ha. And I have an executive job but we are just working class. Anyway, I just finished my 75 which is exactly like the one I bought in college. It was the first thing I ever had that was new. Poor family. Got me interested on tinkering with stuff like cars because we had to keep what we had working. And buying that 75 Honda had me going from working 2 jobs a day to 3. Ha. One of them was with a salvage yard which I loved because I would just remove parts, clean them up and once in a while install but mostly disassemble before crushing and I could go any time of night to do it which helped me around my classes. Anyway, once I got finished with my Honda (the next day was a local car show and my bike was the first to win best in show. If I knew how to post a pic I'd love to because I'm proud of it and did it all by hand and with the tools I had. I didn't have a rich mans rebuild. It was important to me. Any way, if you mess with vintage bikes any, the tanks and panels and a couple of other parts are very hard to get with issues. Particularly tanks. Rusted are tough because they can rust inside to a point it's so thin it will rust through. It's easy to fake a good tank by putting a bunch of nuts and bolts (never use small screws like people say. They get stuck.) Rattle drain and rattle till all the rust is out then Kleen coat (don't use that crap either if possible). Anyway they're hard to find. Side panels are always cracked from heat and time. Long story. I'd never used ebay to sell anything but did buy a few things long ago when they were fairly honest to work with. So When I had an excellent extra tank that I had bought as a pair from Minn. in the US when I started my project, I snatched them up. One was almost new looking and the other almost the same but you could see some normal wear but zero dent's in either. The one was so nice I had to get a camera light to examine the interior to see if it was not original and called the guy who said they were his dad's and he had this thing about restoring vintage Honda's particular 360's and 350's because he was real old and had one as a kid. Hated to tell him I was two years older than his dad. Ha. So I hit a gold mind. Back then you could actually contact the person though ebay for messages. He had them way under valued. So much so, I contacted him directly with the note he had included and said I would feel better if I could send him something I have of value for a bike or pay a bit more. Honest kid (Kid of 42..Ha) and he said he didn't restore like his dad and was just cleaning up what he had. I was lucky and picked up a few other things that would go with another build on a 125 that apparently was his next restore. Here's where ebay and I get crossed. I didn't need the extra tank and it was a unicorn of an tank. Other than replacing the petcock and precautionary cleaning and inspecting, it was ready to go. I had also bought a few of his side panels (look at the fins on the 360t and you'll know what I mean) that he had made by laser printing that was thick and solid. The fins that I've bought from all over the world were cracked. Mostly from Vietnam for some reason. So I had a pair of those that were perfect and strong and exact replica. I posted the tank and side panels separately because someone said it's the fastest way to sell them when people search for parts. So I did and got them both sold in a few day after being posted. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but the tank guy said the tank had pin holes and wouldn't hold a gallon of gas and was rusted out. I knew this was BS but he knew the game and filed a thing with ebay and started a process that I had no idea what to do. I had taken some really good pics of the tank inside and out and he claimed I had sent him a different tank. Long story short the tank he had was not the tank I sent nor was it even off a 75 Honda. As this was going on, the same thing happened with the side panels and the same story. Ebay was on the side of the buyer again. The side panels he showed (he claimed were ine) were all cracked on the fins. Long story short I got screwed because I had no idea what to do and filing a complaint with Ebay was a joke. It cost me some real money which I needed for my co-pays on my cancer treatments (some of you know what I'm talking about). The good thing was I didn't get greedy and had a flood of people wanting to buy that tank and offering stupid money for it. Ha. but it was already sold. I'm sure he made about 400% profit (no less) or resale. But like I said I didn't try to screw anyone because I figured the buyer would be into vintage bikes and that was cool. I found a few great vintage bike forums that are great and honest. So I sold for my tank at cost plus shipping and all that crap. I had to refund it all and got back a tank that had been left outside for years with not cap, and had severe dents. Panels were worse and had paint on them which mine were raw plastic or whatever they use for laser printing. Turns out the guy that bought the tank had another email and IPO/Email account, mailing address and his girlfriends name and bought the panels. This guy knew the game and was good at it. I got screwed and no amount of contact with ebay made any difference and my case(s) were closed and you couldn't get any response on them anymore. I wouldn't sell a thing on ebay nor would I buy anything on ebay. Those side panels I got from somewhere in SE Asia were a no go as well because Ebay sell a ton of fake crap from China and the ring of fire. (I think that ring is hell) So. I feel for you and glad you were smart enough to not get screwed. I'm still in the process of the 125 but parts are hard to find so I'm thinking of a 450. Hate to do that because of the cancer thing took away so much of my body muscle I hate buying anything that I can't pick up when I drop it (yes drop and we all do it....ha) The 360 I can handle barely but the 450 is pushing the edge. Never owned one and just know what you can find on google for the weight. I also need to make sure the rebuild will give me time to ride it because life is life. Thanks for that post. I subbed your channel and hope everyone watches it. Wish I had. Amazon is getting bad as well so I just go to my forums and can do well on most stuff. Thanks for the great content and the explanation of how you tested it. Even with my pictures it didn't do any good. Well done. Looking forward to your next post
You should invest in a laser to etch in a part/stock number on products you sell or perhaps’Tom’ at Molnar etch and individual serial number to all products they make!
We have experienced the declining customer service recently with eBay. A pure unobtainium crankshaft was shipped and delivered to a purchaser. He tried the undelivered part scam. Like you, we photo document and catalog all sales. USPS had photo documentation of the delivery as well. He was looking for money from me or the insurance money from USPS. He never received any money. The entire fraudulent interaction cost me over 7 hours of frustration. Lost time = lost opportunity.
yep, and the idiot could have sold the old rods for a few bucks instead of trying to work a scam for full price...now he has neither. Justice by idiot.
I’ve bought some parts on eBay but ya have to be very careful. That guy is either a moron or a crook or both. Glad you didn’t get hurt on this. You’re right about the call centers , absolutely useless!
I used to sell a ton of take-off parts or lightly used race parts on ebay until a few years ago when the number of scammers and dumb ebayers started to go through the roof. Also the fees on a lot of these sites got so high it wasn't even really worth it.
What matters on a third party sales site is description: get it right, get it complete... good enough so a county clerk with zero tech or repair skill [never turned a wrench] has a shot of identifying it correctly if the box split open and loose parts were everywhere. E-commerce is getting weird these days: search results finding walmart trying to sell things never [and I mean never] found in their stores, etc. Case in point, I bought a nice quality miter saw through Newegg of all places several years back - definitely not computer or consumer electronics type stuff they built the business on - they just served the listing and passed it through to the actual merchant. As for usps... if you don't pay for certified [or registered if you want the insurance], there is ZERO help on claims [loss or damage] because there is no tracking number. I found myself in such a predicament earlier this year, and post office had dumb looks, while the online tool [which they knew absolutely nothing of] was broken - the submittal itself failed because it wouldn't let me check off two boxes required. The breakdown? Seemed to mostly have occurred during the Obama years - man, he played alot of golf, and the country was quietly going to hell..
I hate that people do that. Finding parts, other than engine parts for my 8.3 Cummins can be a bit of a challenge and I love that I have a handful of sellers on eBay that have what I need. I'd be relegated to driving miles to multiple junk yards with medium duty trucks, buses, and RVs to find what I need.
I work at a parts store, and they try the same scam hear. Just a few weeks ago they tried to return some new struts claiming they didn't need them. Looked in the box pulled out a freshly painted old strut. The paint was still wet, and you could still see the oem stamp in the metal. I also get the ones that insist they bought the part from us and we don't cary that brand. Finally we get a lot of funny money. Always have to check big bills esp the old style ones or if they are purchasing a 2 dollar item with a 100.
I quit selling on ebay around 10 years ago after the increased fees and fraud started showing up. The best way to deal with the "it never showed up" issue is to offer shipping insurance as an option and a clear explanation in the terms that you are not responsible for lost packages. In the rare instance that a tracking number never says delivered even though it was and the buyer decides to commit fraud you can require a signature for expensive items to protect yourself from an automated ebay chargeback.
I sell on eBay too, full time for almost 20 years now. I have learned to accept that 2% of transactions will have issues and that 0.5% will know how to game the system for a free part. It's a cost of doing business. I try to keep sale prices under $300 so it doesn't hurt so bad and if the sale is more than that I take extra steps. When it's an expensive item I reach out to the buyer before shipping so they know I'm a human too. I take photos of the item in the shipping box, I take photos of the box, and I pay for 3rd party insurance. My documentation has saved me more that a few times. That said, most buyers are good folks and most claims are just misunderstandings about the part, it's condition, or how long shipping can take. The scammers are the most memorable though.
I can’t believe people have the balls to send you shit like this! Back and expect you replace them. You are the man!! I really love your expertise and your channel. I love to listen to you and can’t wait to do some business with you.
I did a tune up for friend, 5.7 Chevy truck, we go to local AutoZone to get parts, we get distributor cap and rotor button, I always open the box, make sure the notch is in the right place, rotor button like the one we had, so I know it will fit. I was like, we have a used one, we need a new one! Someone had put their used stuff back in the box, returned them, and they had put the boxes back on the shelf without looking in the box.Good thing I fiddled around and checked because store policy is They won't take electrical parts back! Glad You caught it!… Your new rods are in his block, he was gonna send you some junk rods back and get a freebee. Good eye. You knew you had not sent out no crap like that! Can't get by with that crap when you dealing with honest man!
I sold stuff I found at thrift stores on ebay for 2-3 years and thankfully never had anyone screw me over. It happens all the time though. Only had one person say that they received the item broken and they refunded it (without returning the item but they sent an image of it broken) but I had insurance on the package so I still got my money.
I’m a vehicle dismantler based in the UK, eBay is dangerous to sell on, we stamp engines and gearboxes and such so that does cover us with the “item not as described” scams.. but just this last week we had 2 fuel injection pumps (£550 each) both exactly the same, sent their used faulty one back, and eBay automatically sides with the buyer, leaving me outa pocket £60 postage and without £1100 in fuel pumps, it has definitely become a dangerous platform to sell on, equally it’s hard to use FB market place as it’s actually the other way round, so many scammers taking peoples money it becomes hard for a genuine seller to use it
Once something has broken open and separated in the postal system, it's pretty much lost. Heavy car parts are notorious for busting out of their boxes. Most people don't realize thw beating their packages are subject to. Always make sure there's plenty of padding and no movement within the box and it's securely taped. For heavy items I use white fiber tape, in both directions around the box. An invoice betters odds as well.
You should post the scammers name, eBay nickname and shipping address to shame them and possibly deter other scumbags who think about ripping off hard working and honest people.
I ran an ebay store when I was out of work and agree 100%. Lots of scammers. I had one negative feedback from a guy who didn't get away with scamming me. Don't get me started on the Indian customer service. So frustrating spending all that time trying to explain the simplest thing and understand the response. Thats not even considering the amount of Indian/Pakistani scammers that call and pretend to be with these companies.
I love this channel keep up the awesome video's. I am a back yard wrencher, but try to do things correctly thanks for all the effort you put into your channel. Couldn't help but watch this particular video it reminds me I had a great thing going on Ebay 10+ years ago selling items, I got sick and tired of getting scammed or trying to tell my side of the story to Ebay. Can't remember how many times and then to have them and PayPal rip the money away from me was enough for me to walk away from it. Its how I funded my many hobbies at the time, and now I find different ways to fund them on the Marketplace. I will keep you guys in my mind when I am ready for more machine work! Keep up the great work thank you for the learning experiences.
To be fair I have also had many sellers misrepresent their products. For example, Ryobi batteries represented as 6Ah that tested at just over 4Ah. They gave me 50% back which made the batteries a really good deal except for having a bulkier battery. I'm sure most people don't know how to test and just never know they're getting ripped off by the seller so in the end the seller makes a substantial profit even when caught every once in a while by people like me.
I had a customer do a similar transaction over a transmission I put in a Nissan Rogue. They were from out of town and waited almost 30 days to do a credit card dispute. I used square and without even asking they deducted the entire amount from my business account. I sent invoices in showing the transmission was purchased and video showing it was installed. People are not trustworthy anymore.
Years ago I ordered a 400 Ford crankshaft on ebay....machined "allegedly".....lasted a month. Rod journals out of round. I ordered one from Falcon. That one was great. They're no longer in business. They had a network of machine shops. I've had issues both as a seller and a purchaser.
Stopped using ebay for the same thing. Ive gotten doorknobs shipped back to me instead of an ignition module once and ebay sided with them because they sent me a package that weighed the same.
I think eBay screws sellers full stop
back in the day i sold a couple of nintendo 3ds on ebay. one opened item not as described, i received a destroyed 3ds back. looked like a 2 year old had been given it to chew on, and the game slot connector was snapped off inside it. the ebay rep simply instructed me to close the case so they could set it up as something else, a fraud claim or something, i cant remember.
so i closed it, immediately the customer got a refund, and ebay refused to hear any more on the matter. saying case was closed in favour of the buyer so that was the end of it.
i stopped selling on ebay years ago because it really is that bad.
Ive been on Ebay for 24 years, and its turned into trash the last few years. The refund policy has opened it to scammers that know how to abuse it.
You got that right. But they are still some credible people out there.
Never do business with libtwit areas
Porch thieves and FedEx leaving packages by the road is what's really changed in the past few years. I've had several things say delivered and I'll go straight to the mailbox and it won't be there..
Not new. I got put outta business by chargeback and refund scammers on eBay in 2015.
It was trash 20 years ago, this is nothing new.
I sell vintage electronics online. Had a buyer return an item he had purchased from me with the guts of the amplifier removed and replaced with ROCKS!
There are some real low life trashy people out there.
Yep I believe everything you say... I have seen it first hand
Unreal!!
We stopped using Ebay completely dealing with the same scams, good riddance!
Yep, I'm there definitely
Yeah they promote scams and crooks.
Sadly Ebay is full of these types and Ebay ALWAYS err on the side of the crook unless you can prove irrefutably your case (which is nigh on impossible!)
Glad the scammer was found out.
@@WeeShoeyDugless yes Ebay love scammers on there site.
Yeah we don’t do eBay since 2018 to many scams on eBay it’s unbelievable
eBay has devolved to the point where I will not buy from sellers with less than 99% good feedback and over 100 items sold. I didn't realize now the sellers were getting scammed by lowlife buyers as well. The call center thing is frustrating as hell to me too. Amazon is the same now unfortunately.
Yep, Amazon is trash also
I agree with you on the feedback ratings and purchasing, but some years back eBay went to a 12-month feedback rating which only uses the last year to calculate your feedback percentage. Not all sellers with less than 99% feedback are bad sellers.
scammers have always been on both sides of the bank(ebay) for as long as i can remember. seems to be worse when the economy is poor though.
Which is why I don't accept returns.
Yep, been there. I got screwed outta $800 selling a POS car for a friend.
@@JETHO321doesn't matter with their "money back guarantee" you'll still be out the money in most cases if the buyer escalates it
Almost nothing worse than a thief. I've had basically the same thing happen years ago on cylinder heads I sold on E-Scam. Glad you didn't get screwed. On a side note, I would pay big money to hear you attempting to communicate with a Indian with a heavy accent! Solid gold! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm from SC right near where Powell. I went to Harvard and I eventually learned that many of my classmates thought I had a speech impediment. 🤨😂

I would pay for the flight to India for a face to face . this guy looks like you do not mess with him
The most common way they try to get me is " There's discoloration on the head pipe ( just an example ) and I feel like I over paid for the piece " .
I always insist on return. I never give adjustment.
It's not worth dealing with Ebay. It's not the money. It's the stress of having people lie and steal from you.
Plus the big fees they charge!
24% @@HobbyOrganist
they take 30% and then put additional charges in there...
This is exactly why I stopped selling on eBay
They are Chinese owned now
I quit selling on Ebay because of this exact issue. It's not worth the 30% they take, and then assume the buyer is always right on disputes. What a nightmare!
Oh and NOW they want "managed payments" where they make you wait for your money AFTER you ship, and deposit it to your checking acct, NO THANKS!!!
30% and pay 15% income tax!
We stopped using USPS and only ship verified signature required on FedEx. If the customer seems dodgy we ship to the nearest FedEx store where they have to present an ID to collect.
That's a good idea on big ticket item's
Right on
One scam to look out for.
Sure there is called pedophiles.
that's why you only buy from people with a very high rating and a lot of sales.@@kramnull8962

I was using ebay back in late 90's where we had to send cashier's checks! Lol and now we've got scammers being treated with white gloves so they can bring ebay a few bucks - usually at the cost of thousands in seller fees when a seller decides to leave for good.
Not to mention youtube allows scam commercials saying government forgot to pay you 4600 last night🤣

I stopped doing eBay 10 years ago before it got bad, bad. today, forget it.
Yeah, I have a moral compass
Refund and chargeback scammers put me outta business on eBay 7 or 8 years ago.
Do you deal in Vauxhall parts , for uk? Or is it usa stuff ?
Ty!!
I won't meet you at a police station either. I avoid ANY contact with cops.
Meet in a busy parking lot and you bring friends? No problem.
@@TheBandit7613i think your user name explains why you won’t do a secure exchange in the presence of cops, maybe you are the type of person we should avoid dealing with….”the bandit” 🥸
Buying has never been a problem on eBay because its the buyers that are screwing the sellers.
Yep...that's how the scam works
Yep we use ups unless usps is WAY cheaper, but ultimately they all suck
Yep it's a nightmare
Yes, 8t definitely happens
I've had USPS ask me to wander about the neighbourhood and check all the doors to find my missing box.

I feel for you. I sell parts on ebay. I can't stand how much they charge and how easy they make it for the buyers to rip you off. I have had several refunds taken from me and the buyer never even returned the parts. Not because I approved or allowed them. No communication from the buyer and ebay just allows them to.
Yep the fees are out of control
You sent a refund without getting the item back first?
@lylejohnston4125 ebay authorized the refund without my approval. The customer said the item wasn't as described and ebay refunded them. Took the money back from me and I just felt it wasn't worth the fight over the cost.
When you sell on eBay, always have 30 day return policy enabled, because if you mark item as sold as is, no returns, Ebay automatically thinks that you don't want the item back and refunds the buyer.

Something's wrong there. If you upload the tracking that shows the item arrived at the address of the buyer, you are covered.
Good report. Your channel is such a great resource for real life people in this industry. You are well respected and the time you are spending doing this is well appreciated

My business stopped selling on ebay, for the reason that ebay allways side with their buyers aka scammers!
You takes your chances no matter who you buy from, or who you sell too.
Today that's a fact
The feedback rating is so important when dealing with eBay sellers and customers. I will not consider purchasing from anyone with less than 98%. Very accurate pictures and descriptions are a must. Even doing that I have had to do plenty of repairs on the items that have arrived.

I was really lucky as an eBay buyer with the opposite situation, where there's just as many crooked and crocked flea market sellers (emphasis on the fleas), who go ballistic if you challenge their "EXCELLENT CONDITION" description for slot car sets that their kids had trampled on the floor and played Dukes Of Hazard with for years, that MANY parents would have just packed in a dumpster, or HOT ROD, CAR CRAFT, etc. with all the key photo pages missing! In a couple dozen case, eBay told me not to bother returning the item and refunded me... cool, but I still had to hunt for what I was trying really hard to find! CD's are another big problem item. I had to buy Jesus Christ Superstar dozens of times, before I got BOTH DAMN CD's! LOL
PATHETIC!
Part of the problem is scammers and the other half is just simply clueless.

(I think that ring is hell)
So.
Thank you sir!! Sorry to here about your health, I truly hope you live long and prosper!!
You can clearly see those rods have been used!! Probably the old rods out of his engine and your new one are in it now!
yep, and the idiot could have sold the old rods for a few bucks instead of trying to work a scam for full price...now he has neither. Justice by idiot.
got to watch out for crooked e bay sellers too.
I’ve bought some parts on eBay but ya have to be very careful. That guy is either a moron or a crook or both. Glad you didn’t get hurt on this. You’re right about the call centers , absolutely useless!
I hate thieves and scammers.
💯
Deepest ring in Hades for them...!!
eBay is the worst. Amazon is starting to catch up though
Got any used molnar ls rods for sale?
Lol
I used to sell a ton of take-off parts or lightly used race parts on ebay until a few years ago when the number of scammers and dumb ebayers started to go through the roof. Also the fees on a lot of these sites got so high it wasn't even really worth it.
Can't you put, " no returns accepted"? I quit selling on eBay, years ago, because of all the fees.
No, they still allow it
@@powellmachineinc Might be the thing to do.
Yep, even if you put no returns, they always allow it if the buyer requests it.
@@TD16V Oh, ok. That sucks.
As soon as you said they are from NY.......
People suck.
Unfortunately many do
I hate that people do that.
Thank you for watching!
Typical NAPA stuff.
I sold stuff I found at thrift stores on ebay for 2-3 years and thankfully never had anyone screw me over. It happens all the time though. Only had one person say that they received the item broken and they refunded it (without returning the item but they sent an image of it broken) but I had insurance on the package so I still got my money.
theifs and liars suck, its hurts the soul man
It's stupid how many crooks are out there! Glad you caught it! I quit selling on eBay all together! Thanks!
Agree. Stay away from eBay as a seller if you can . Great info here
I’m a vehicle dismantler based in the UK, eBay is dangerous to sell on, we stamp engines and gearboxes and such so that does cover us with the “item not as described” scams.. but just this last week we had 2 fuel injection pumps (£550 each) both exactly the same, sent their used faulty one back, and eBay automatically sides with the buyer, leaving me outa pocket £60 postage and without £1100 in fuel pumps, it has definitely become a dangerous platform to sell on, equally it’s hard to use FB market place as it’s actually the other way round, so many scammers taking peoples money it becomes hard for a genuine seller to use it
Once something has broken open and separated in the postal system, it's pretty much lost.
I live in Australia and won't deal with any business where if I call and I can't have a proper conversation with .
I’m glad you evaded being ripped off , though I’m sorry anyone has to deal with that. More so, that it’s so prevalent.
Ty!
You should post the scammers name, eBay nickname and shipping address to shame them and possibly deter other scumbags who think about ripping off hard working and honest people.
Sellers have a hard time too because generally speaking ebay will screw over the seller before the buyer
The internet is a crazy place...ebay does not support the seller...im glad ya got your own website...thank you for the info 👍🏻
Years ago I lived in NY, I can tell you that there is great people and bad people, no middle group.
Yep, ignore doubt
Years ago I ordered a 400 Ford crankshaft on ebay....machined "allegedly".....lasted a month. Rod journals out of round. I ordered one from Falcon. That one was great. They're no longer in business. They had a network of machine shops. I've had issues both as a seller and a purchaser.
Stopped using ebay for the same thing. Ive gotten doorknobs shipped back to me instead of an ignition module once and ebay sided with them because they sent me a package that weighed the same.
