I have a friend who's father was a Veterinarian. One night when one of her daughter's horses was deathly sick, she guided her adult daughter through the process. Younger people try harder and longer as hindsight is 20/20 and she was learning. My friend quoted her Veterinarian Dad saying "when you take on the responsibility for the life of an animal, you take on the responsibility for it's death." It was apparent that night that she was guiding her daughter to make the choice for 'her' horse. She ended up giving her horse the 'Last Act of Kindness' and it was necessary. It's the hardest decision we have to make in our life.❤️
This the reality of farm life. You can't save every animal that has major problems. People who don't to this for a living need to understand this. You gave the little guy every chance to come around. Life goes on, in nature and farms.
Don't worry about the nay Sayers. You did the best you could and the vet had the same opinion. You are a good shepherd of your herd. Your cows are lucky to have you. Sorry for you loss.
I'm sorry for your loss it evident you did your best your heart was in it I say every baby that is doesn't come out with a n instruction Manuel so hard not to love or want any baby of any kind I feel for you heartbreaking but that's life sometimes
Dude you are making better people and farmers out of every single person that subscribes. Let that be a testimony to you as a farmer and good person. I thank you for what you are doing.
Don’t let other people’s opinions that don’t understand raising animals is hard affect you. I was raised around cattle as a young child and learned from my uncle this very principle, not all animals make it, no matter what you do for them. Chin up and keep on moving forward!!!
Regardless of the type of animal, quality of life is still important. No “slack” should be applied to anyone. It was a tough decision, Tyler did what could be done for the calf, and he made the tough decision based on the information that he had. My condolences for the calf, but it was the correct choice. These are decisions that farmers/ranchers have to make for their animals. Sometimes, the results are positive, but often the results aren’t what we had hoped for and we end up losing an animal. It is disappointing, but nothing in life is ever guaranteed. Thank you, Tyler…appreciated the update.
That took a lot out of you Tyler. Farming for you. I'm sorry about calf but it is part of life. You did more that most of us would. You made the right choice. 💔
When I was young and my family had a farm, those issues came up a few times as well. So I understand this situation. May i say, thank you for thinking like you do.......putting yourself into the animal's "feet" while deciding what is best for the animal, is a thought process that some people never grasp. You did everything just as correct as anyone who runs a farm can. Thank you for your thought process and compassion in everything you do on your Farm. Very awesome content 😊💚😊
I rescued all my life, mostly dogs, also cats, birds, etc...the wild native ones went to a wildlife rehabber, anyone who does this knows that there are going to be some you just can't save! You just bent over backwards to help this poor baby, but he just never really had a chance, too many birth defects. Blind horses, and dogs, walk around just fine, so he must have had other mobility issues, and I have a little older dog who is blind, doesn't bother her a bit, runs all over, and her sense of smell is terrific. Absolutely you made the right decisions here! Don't worry about it, you do a great job!!
.. It's your bat, your ball, your ranch.... you did everything your experience and heart allowed you to do..... you consulted expertise... and made the call. No one ever said this thing call life was all sunshine and rainbows....
I raise cattle and other farm animals and completely feel compassion for you and for the job you had to do. People on the outside will never understand, that doesn’t remove the fact that you did what you and the vet felt was best for this individual calf. Keep up the good work. We enjoy your content and honesty.
Poor little calf. You did the best you could for him and with his quality of life being so poor, you did the right thing for him. He wouldn’t have survived at all if you didn’t step in and you did all you could. Thank you for trying and for everything you did for him.
Tyler: we feel what you did was the correct thing to do. To keep this poor calf alive & not be able to really be able to function properly would have been inhumane. Once again you did the right thing. We are new to your channel...keep up the good work. We look forward to seeing more of your programs. The Miller's ❤
You did all you could and more. You did what was right for the calf. I know it's hard to do. I think I would have done it sooner. Thank you for sharing.
Sorry you lost your calf. He was sure cute. You did the best you could have done. Thanks for the update. …….sure like those gates you made.. see ya next week…
I 110% support you and your decision. I was recently in a similar situation with a dairy cow I took in with neglect issues. After doing everything I could, I had to make the same hard decision. It literally comes down to quality of life. We can only do our best, in some situations throw the kitchen sink at them (treatment and/or time) and when that doesn't work make the hard decisions. You did what you had to do for the calf. Prolonging life sometimes is just cruel. Could you have kept him alive? I absolutely say yes, at least for a while until his body gave out. Would it have been the best for him? No. Not even a little. You very obviously made the right call, as bad as it sucks. I wish we could save them all but there's this thing called "reality"...
I respect your decision. You gave it months not minutes and it can’t be easier for you to make these difficult choices. Kudos to you for putting your emotions aside in favor of your animals.
Some farmers on UA-cam would have just said "oh, I found him dead in the pasture, must have gotten kicked or something". But you didn't, you were honest about what was going on. You let everyone in on the thought process to get to the decisions you made. I applaud that, you didn't shy away and make an "easy" video. Many farmers would have gone the easy route. You made the best decision you could with the situation and information that you had. I lived on a farm for many years, you do what you have to do for the long term health of the farm. To be honest, my grandfather would have take the calf to the processor and had him made into ground beef or jerky. Don't let the armchair "experts"get under your skin and make you second-guess yourself. You are doing a great job, I love watching your videos, keep up the excellent work and keeping it honest!!
We support you. Your a good man and given the circumstances we would have done the same. This was a well done video and shows a great deal of humanity on your part. Thank you for wanting to even share this experience with us.
Your effort in helping this calf was humane and compassionate. That is very admirable . After putting him with the herd, it was clearly whether he'd acclaimate or not. His issues were too great and it is very sad so, you did the right thing. If his body was normal, but just his eyes weren't, there may have been some hope. Gratitude for giving us the heads up about the little guy. 👍🐄🤠
Many are quick to judge. They don't feel the pain in our hearts when we have to complete these extremely sad and tragic tasks. It took courage to do what you knew was necessary in the face of possible ridicule. I respect your quality Tyler!
Tyler, I’ve always been impressed by how hard you work for all your animals. You fought so hard to give that little guy a life but as you said sometimes hard decisions have to be made. You’re a good man and thank you for your videos.
id say this. if the poor thing didn't attach to another calf to move with the heard and "keep up" essentially, then, he didnt have the will to live. and at that point, what you chose to do was the best choice. I know this was hard for you, bc you chose to explain yourself and almost seem to be beating yourself up for it, but know, you did the right thing. Sometimes we are faced with impossible decisions in life, and we can only make the best choice out of the circumstances. I hope people can see that and don't beat you up in the comments.
This is your channel and what you reveal is up to you. I enjoy watching because, I always learn something. I have no animals to care for and will never weld a fence, but have an insatiable urge to learn about the world and you have a gift for teaching.
You did the right thing for him. I watch your videos with my daughter and explain to her that sometime this is what needs to be done. Our cat is getting old and this helps because we will need to do the same thing for Sammy.
Been watching your videos for long enough that I have no doubt whatsoever that your decisions, even the tough ones, will be the right ones. Thanks for the transparency.
No judgement from me! Your calf, your call, no one else’s business. You have a huge heart for your animals, that shows through every day. You absolutely did your best and that’s it. So very touching just how hard you tried to help him. You’re a good man and your Grampa would be very proud of you.
Hello Farmer Tyler Just watching your struggle through the decision to relieve the calf from his misery. Please do not beat yourself up. You did everything possible, and more. On this blessed weekend give loving kindness and compassion to yourself as you did for that black and white calf. Sending good thoughts and prayers to you and your family from South Carolina.🤗
Tyler, I think your effort to restore the little calf was valiant. I also think that the quality of life is paramount to the quantity of life. And you did what you thought was best. I applaud you on your effort to save a little calf.
The idea that surviving is more important than living has definitely caused a lot of mistaken opinions. I know of a person who choose to continue on life support because agreeing to allow the doctor to decide is thought to be suicide. This calf needed help and you went above and beyond to give it to him. This was an act of love, it required time, resources and a lot of heart but you gave it. And then only with the love you heard the verdict given by a vet and took the calf the rest of the way on that journey. In my book - you are a hero and a good man. Let it go, you have done all that could be done and done it well.
I agree with you 100%. So many people are more worried about their own feelings instead of what best for the animals. Glad you tried everything you could. People need to see real life, it doesn't always have a happy ending like the movie's. Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work!
You are clearly a kind and thoughtful person. Growing up on a farm, I understand 1) the energy and effort you put into sustaining his life and 2) the decision you made. Best wishes to you. ❤️
Tyler, your decision was correct. Herd management is tough and the animals come first no matter how hard the decision is. Years of experience has taught this to me just as you have learned. Keep on farming and I’ll keep on watching. Thanks
Sir ... I'm sad your little calf didn't make it .. thank you and bless you for trying to save him .. He was here a short time but he touched your heart and you made the best choice for him ...
I support your decision. This wasn't a calf who would move I on even to eating on his own, let alone becoming a part of a herd. Sad, but thanks for trying.
I'm sorry that you had to make the decision to put him down. It was the correct decision. I know it was a difficult thing to actually do. Sometimes it's just not any fun to be a farmer.☹️
For the ranch to be profitable , one person has to have the power and ability to weigh all of the factors and make a decision. I have done cow/calf for 45 years and not every day turns out to be rainbows and unicorns. At the end of the day you have to be able to close your eyes at night and be at peace with your soul. If you can, then the talking heads are just white noise. Thanks for being honest. You are doing a great job of getting the word out on ranching.
I can understand your apprehensive approach with this story because most people on the internet haven’t got a clue when it comes to certain realities on the farm. The fact is death is apart of life and in this scenario you did everything you could and probably even more than most would have. Anybody whose farmed would look at this situation and completely agree with your rationale and ultimate decision.
I think you went above and beyond. It’s sad but quality of life also applies to animals and that’s want everyone needs to understand. I respect your decision 100 percent. I’m sorry you had to live this part of farming ♥️
The Blind Calf was a Special Calf of God! Returning to His Heavenly Father was the best decision! I’m a Retired Special Needs Teacher, You did what you could! God Bless the Little Bull Calf!
The time that I have watched your channel, I have learned so much from you Your decision was what you felt was best for your farm. You always have to do what is best fir you and your family, and your farm. God Bless you for sharing.
I'm sure you did the right thing after a great deal of thought. You seem to be a very caring man ,and I appreciate the way you are with your animals. Your video's are so interesting and informative, I look forward to seeing them. It's nice to know that there are such caring farmers around. Thanks and carry on your good work.
To bad about the calf. It’s part of farming of course you know this. I probably wouldn’t have put as much effort in as you did so kudos to you for doing your due diligence!
Unfortunately, what you went thru was one of the most aggravating things many & I mean many farmers/ranchers have to go thru with any kind of livestock. Others do not realize that the calf, in this case, is not a pet. You did your best & tried your hardest to give that calf a chance. That's a lot more of a chance than others might've. Keep up the good work there.
I just found your channel & this is the 4th video I’ve watched. Beautiful work ethic, Farmer Tyler. You’re the real thing. Keep on. All respect. -New follower
Good morning to Farmer Tyler Ranch and all others too. You are a care taker for your family animals and farm you always doing your best for them. Thanks for sharing and everyone have a bless weekend with a Happy Easter. God Bless You
You gave it a valiant effort buddy. That's the difference between a Cattlemen and a Cattle Farmer.. You have the passion of the Cattlemen! We had somewhat of the same situation last year. We gave it our best effort but in the end it wasn't enough.
Your choice was well thought out. No one lives your life and it's easy for them to judge something they aren't dealing with. Your farm is your livlyhood and most of us understand that. Best wishes to you!
Thank you for sharing this sad event. You did the right thing, considering all of the calf's ailments. As we all know; In the wild, those in a herd that can not keep up with the migration of the herd, or are where they can be captured when being pursued; become food for the prey and scavenger animals. What remains of that animal returns to the earth to nourish it. As owners of domesticated animals, that are protected from beasts of prey; sometimes we have to make the decision to perform a task that would be done by a predator in the wild. I am sure that the little calf was buried somewhere and it's body will nourishing the grasses for the other cattle or a tree that you planted where the little calf lies buried.
Arm chair farmers always have all the answers until time to live the experience then they don't have a clue ! You did what was right , don't beat yourself up over your call on this one .
I feel you did the kindest thing you could for that calf. It's much, much harder to make that kind of decision, than to try to drag things out when there is just no hope. Mother nature knows what is suppose to happen and eventually it happened but at your cost emotionally. Don't let people make you feel bad for doing the decent thing for that baby. Bless you and your family.
I just watched the videos about the blind calf in your story. In humans, there is a thing called failure to thrive and it almost seems similar to your case. Farming and Ranching, especially, has the hardship of having to put animals down. You did the right thing and most people just don't understand that these animals are not pet, they are part of your livelihood.
I grew up on a farm and I truly think you did the right thing. People will always say you should have done this or that but they were not there to make the decision. Love your videos as they are so true to life.
If the calf had been born out in nature rather than in your care on the ranch, nature would have provided the same ultimate outcome, but my guess is that it could have happened far less humanely. If you had continued pouring your energy into a lost cause, that would have taken attention away from the care you could provide to the other animals. Bless you for educating everyone even when your choices have been difficult to make.
Most people never spent a day on a farm, let alone care for cattle. But most people have had to deal with a sick dog or cat. Most reasonably minded people would not let their animal suffer and you definitely made the right decision with the calf. Very few cattle ranchers would have given the time or energy that you did, knowing it’s chance of survival was slim to none. Anyone that condemns you for your decision need to get a life. Thanks for taking us along on your ranch life.

You made the HUMANE decision. And that’s the only one that counts on YOUR ranch. So sorry for your loss ♥️🇨🇦♥️
Don't worry about the nay Sayers. You did the best you could and the vet had the same opinion. You are a good shepherd of your herd. Your cows are lucky to have you. Sorry for you loss.
I could not have said this any better so I won’t try. I’m sorry you lost that little calf. Kathy

Don't beat yourself up and hard as it was I agree with you
Dude you are making better people and farmers out of every single person that subscribes. Let that be a testimony to you as a farmer and good person. I thank you for what you are doing.
You did what the vet suggested and most of us would have done the same! It was nice to have you again on a Saturday!
well it's always hard making decisions on our animals but it's selfish of us to let them suffer my hats off to you gor making hard decision
Don’t let other people’s opinions that don’t understand raising animals is hard affect you. I was raised around cattle as a young child and learned from my uncle this very principle, not all animals make it, no matter what you do for them. Chin up and keep on moving forward!!!

I'm so sorry you had to experience this. Farming can be brutal for sure. You did the best anyone could have. RIP Lil' Blind Calf. 😥

I haven’t finished watching your video yet, but I had to stop to say you did the best you could for an animal born with life-altering issues.
This comment is right you did what was right
You did the best thing for the calf. His life would not ever be normal and would always take a toll on him. Great for you putting him first,
I agree with you. I appreciate your unvarnished look at the realities of ranching.
I rescued all my life, mostly dogs, also cats, birds, etc...the wild native ones went to a wildlife rehabber, anyone who does this knows that there are going to be some you just can't save! As a farmer myself, I understand. Folks who aren’t may not.
I respect your decision. You gave it months not minutes and it can’t be easier for you to make these difficult choices. Kudos to you for putting your emotions aside in favor of your animals.
I think your judgement and decision was fair and, though difficult, the right one. The care you always give your animals is exemplary.

You did the right thing, every cattleman will have a issue with a calf sooner or later.
You are so compassionate. Enjoyed the story. I’ve had to do the same call from time to time. Never gets easy.
Hello Farmer Tyler
Just watching your struggle through the decision to relieve the calf from his misery. Please do not beat yourself up.
You did everything possible, and more.
On this blessed weekend give loving kindness and compassion to yourself as you did for that black and white calf.
Sending good thoughts and prayers to you and your family from South Carolina.🤗

Good morning from Wisconsin. Hope you have a great Easter
No flack from me!! You are a very compassionate person. Bless you.
You made the right call Bless you for caring so very much for all of your animals
Thank you for sharing the story.
I support your decision. This wasn't a calf who would move I on even to eating on his own, let alone becoming a part of a herd. Sad, but thanks for trying.
I’m behind you all way Mr. Tyler. thanks for the update on the little guy.. video like 👍
So sorry for you heartaches - this life is a hard life and what is done is done . He is not suffering any more . Love and prayers
I'm sorry that you had to make the decision to put him down. It was the correct decision. I know it was a difficult thing to actually do. Sometimes it's just not any fun to be a farmer.☹️
You had to do what was best for the baby you just gave him some peace and a trip to the rainbow bridge peacefully

The Blind Calf was a Special Calf of God! Returning to His Heavenly Father was the best decision! I’m a Retired Special Needs Teacher, You did what you could! God Bless the Little Bull Calf!
The time that I have watched your channel, I have learned so much from you
Your decision was what you felt was best for your farm.
Thanks and carry on your good work.
good for you... you made the hardest and right decision......God bless you.....

TYLER YOU DID THE RIGHT THING
Good morning to Farmer Tyler Ranch and all others too. You are a care taker for your family animals and farm you always doing your best for them. Thanks for sharing and everyone have a bless weekend with a Happy Easter. God Bless You
There is only so much you can do to save them. You do an amazing job, please don’t let anyone get you down! 🥰
You did the right thing!! Your cows are so lucky to have you!!
You went above and beyond what you could've done. Keep doing what you do.
As a caretaker you made the correct decision for this outcome as usual you handled it well hard decisions are hard to make thanks for sharing
You gave it a valiant effort buddy. That's the difference between a Cattlemen and a Cattle Farmer.. You have the passion of the Cattlemen! We had somewhat of the same situation last year. We gave it our best effort but in the end it wasn't enough.
he's in god hands you did the calf a favor i know it was hard on you. god bless you and your family and farm.
You chose rightly. Happy Easter!
That is farm life. You did a god job caring for the calf.
Your choice was well thought out. No one lives your life and it's easy for them to judge something they aren't dealing with. Your farm is your livlyhood and most of us understand that. Best wishes to you!
I see you as an ethical and empathetic rancher. This calf got a chance, was rescued, cared for, evaluated first.
Tyler, I've lived on and operated a farm my entire life. You made the right call.
You have my support on your decision! I’ve been there a few times, it’s sad but the calf going on suffering is worse than ending it’s discomfort
Thank you for sharing this sad event. You did the right thing, considering all of the calf's ailments.
As we all know; In the wild, those in a herd that can not keep up with the migration of the herd, or are where they can be
captured when being pursued; become food for the prey and scavenger animals. What remains of that animal returns to
the earth to nourish it.
As owners of domesticated animals, that are protected from beasts of prey; sometimes we have to make the decision to
perform a task that would be done by a predator in the wild. I am sure that the little calf was buried somewhere and it's body
will nourishing the grasses for the other cattle or a tree that you planted where the little calf lies buried.
Farming can be tough , you did the best you could ! God bless
I grew up on a farm and I truly think you did the right thing. People will always say you should have done this or that but they were not there to make the decision. Love your videos as they are so true to life.
I my opinion you made the right decision the calf would not have a good quality of life you are a brilliant rancher
You did all you could do and made the right decision at the end.
Keep on ranching
So sorry for your loss
Most people never spent a day on a farm, let alone care for cattle. But most people have had to deal with a sick dog or cat. Most reasonably minded people would not let their animal suffer and you definitely made the right decision with the calf. Very few cattle ranchers would have given the time or energy that you did, knowing it’s chance of survival was slim to none. Anyone that condemns you for your decision need to get a life. Thanks for taking us along on your ranch life.
