- This week Watkins Tree farm purchased this power trimmer to help trim around the trees. I think I am done with gas weed eaters. I set-up, use & review the power trimmer.

Awesome review thanks! I'm planning to get this for my dad this Father's Day
Good deal. He will love it.
My old Black and Decker's batteries just can't hold a charge anymore so thinking about picking one of these up. Thanks for the detailed instructions and help.
no problem!! Thanks for watching.
Excellent review. Thanks for taking the time to cover so many aspects of the trimmer.
No problem. Used the trimmer all weekend. Still going strong.
Awesome I think you’re going to get a lot of use out it ! Your tree farm is looking good Jeff !
Thank you!!
Thanks for the video! Great review.
Thank you.
very helpful, thanks for posting.
Thanks. Thanks for watching.
Nice video, thank you! Just picked up one of these today at Lowe’s for 180.00 after tax .
An hour break for charging sounds right in tune with my energy level.
Thanks for watching. I’m with you & enjoy the break as well. 👍
Look forward to seeing how it holds up long-term.
I tried 40 V kobalt electric weedeater a few years ago and it wasn’t quite up to the task. Battery technology is always improving though
Your trees look great
This one seems to check off all the right boxes. The Christmas Trees are a process. Water seems to be the key. Trying to get ready for this up coming hot spell.
looks good
Thanks Jack.
I recently bought a new weed wacker and a lawn mower, both battery operated. I don’t ever want to go back gas versions! I definitely recommend getting a second battery!
Yeah I think a second battery is in my future. Did you get moved yet??
Yes, about a month ago. I still have unpacking to do and a lot of organization, but most of it done.
@@destolfe I still think we have a few boxes from moving 8 years ago. Long process. Good to hear you got moved. 👍
a very big deal for me is the safety switch. i will not fight with one that has one that requires you pressing with thumb, I've screwed them down and fought with it, and I'm done with those. So, this will work just fine, when i tape it down. paid 159 pus tax, waiting to pick up
I have not noticed or had trouble with the safety switch. Thanks for sharing.
@@watkinstreefarm6880 i meant to say i like the design on this one compared to others 🙋♂
fine review. The country music made me smile. thank you!!!
No problem. I am glad you enjoyed it. Still have the trimmer and still love it!!
We Have an echo 58v its just as powerful at a srm-225 gas model. I saw you said you paid tax, why not get a farm tax exemption?
You are correct. I did buy it for the farm. I will have to look into that. Spoiled with TSC because they do it automatically.
I have found this model to be really challenging to open up and change the line. Any tips?
You don’t need to open up the head at all to change the line. You just take the line string and thread one side of the hole out the other side making sure it’s even and then start cranking on the end of the head.
Is it holding up after 2 years? Apparently some people had issues with the battery going bad.
It is. I noticed the battery this year losing a few minutes. That being said I used the snot out of this thing and super happy with it.
Does the battery work with Ego's other tools?
I predict 55 minutes, Jeff.
I believe so. I know it works with the blower. It was around 50 minutes. Thanks for watching.
Do you still love it after owning it for almost a year?
I do. I weed eat around 1000 trees and I use this. I just wish I bought another battery. I can use it for 45 minutes and then it needs a charge. I plan on doing an update video on this weed eater. Thanks for watching.

Please include a section in the updated video covering string loading on the trimmer.
Does your bump feed work?
Works very well. It has all the features of a gas weed eater minus all the headache. Thanks for watching.
@@watkinstreefarm6880 I was wondering about the bump feed as well. I bought the same model a couple of months ago and am having trouble with the string feed. Recently I’ve had to remove the head and manually remove the string because it gets stuck on the spool. The string gets really tight, not sure why. I’m using the correct size string but I bought it many years ago so maybe new string might help. Thanks.
@@waymor2460 Try that. EZ GO makes their own string and it is cut to a manageable length for you as well. Stringing it is easy. I probably should do a video stringing the trimmer for my viewers. Thanks for watching.
If you are going to get an extra battery, you are better off buying another weed eater with the battery, battery alone is $179.99. with the price i see at ace hardware
You are correct. I am looking at a blower & hedge trimmer
How is this holding up a year later?
I have used it 2 seasons going into my 3rd. Doing well. Have not noticed any less power and changing out the string is amazing. 2 👍 up!!
@@watkinstreefarm6880 Thx for replying! Just ordered to replace my 18V Greenworks trimmer. Awful experience. Would tangle up every 10ft.
Hello I am looking at this exact trimmer and watched your video until the end I’ve never owned a battery operated trimmer. I had a neighbor who owned an EGO and was very happy with it. I’m looking to replace my 32 yr old craftsman 2 cycle gas trimmer which seems to run decent all summer but the next summer it needs a little tune to get it going again. I’m tired of messing with it and pushing 60 years old I get tired pulling the start cord. I see you are happy with this and you have much more trimming then me have you purchased more line and if so can you share a link or where you purchased from ? Are you still using the original battery? Have you bought another? Again Thanks for sharing this video I gave you a like and subscribe!@@watkinstreefarm6880
