Very stronk! Very Good canons! Very powerful ground targets rounds! Working very good versus planes comrade! Can also take some damage. Very stronk wings made from stalinium. But seriously I really like the ones with big derpy cannons.
I have noticed that with the ShVak cannon, it is best for close range shooting, 200-300 meters distance is my sweet spot, but its rounds probably could go up to 400 meters and still be relatively effective. The Berezin UB is usable at almost all ranges and can be just as devastating as Brownings. The cannon is just too low velocity to be used at anything above 400 meters as its rounds begin to shotgun at around that distance. My go-to Berezin/Shvak combination is Tracers/Stealth with 300 meter convergence, even though it is relatively unneeded in center-lined mounted weaponry. Anything I shoot at within that 300 meter convergence is either severely damaged and/or on fire or are blown to bits outright.
If you could confirm it, then by all means test it. I just kinda thought that my results were because of my inexperience with with Soviet 20's and getting close by force of habit.
Expect to hit the ground like a sad stone a lot if you're not careful though. The Elevator authority can be inconsistent. Especially in sharp dives and stall climbs.
Man I used to fly this all the time! Once I was on my way back to the airport, but my aircraft was all shot up by the enemy, and I still had my 2 bombs under my wings, and someone was chasing me. So I dropped the bombs and killed the dude behind me with the bombs. One of the coolest things I did in that plane.
How do you know when you have a great WT-channel at hand you really enjoy? When you are eager to watch the video although you know you will never actually use the asset reviewed. And I'd like to repeat myself: Grossly underrated channel, this.
The way you describe your early months in the game is exactly how I did it too: Pick a nation and fly in Arcade Battles to unlock and Ace every Rank I plane regardless of type and Battle Rating (which I didn't even know what it meant at the time). So, I was flying the 2.3 Bf 110 C-3 alongside the 1.3 He 112 V-5, but it was Arcade so it didn't matter too much anyway (except that I was trying to fly the Bf 110 in the same way as the He 112 and wondering why the plane was so bad!). Then, move on to the Rank II planes, and try the Rank Is in another nation. It's why I sucked so badly for so long at the higher BRs, as I was such a casual player I hadn't learned that the planes did indeed fly differently and you needed to fly them to their strengths and not to those of the other planes attacking you. This is how I came to believe in Soviet Bias in the first place. I know it's not real now -- not in actual gameplay, at least -- but I still like to prolong the meme in jest. And I still kinda hold to the belief that the Soviet vehicles' performance models get a LOT of polishing towards the highest end rather than an average take. I still don't fly Sov, apart from foreign-imported Premium planes I do well in, for earning Lions. But I'll always watch your reviews of even them, as I know you are objective.
Andrew Brown you should fly em, low tiers and late tier IV is versatile and fun, not necessarily good but the billion cannons and toy engine of the La-9 makes for good memes.
I did exaggerate a bit for effect there; in the early days I flew Sovs in Arcade just like all the other nations, but stopped after getting to higher BRs and going up against Sovs in other nations and being constantly wiped out. Once getting over my outrage over "Bussian Rias" by finally "gitting guud" myself, I did start to Fly Red, specifically on one of the Stalingrad Enduring Confrontations. I find that, against my will and continued prejudice against Bussian Rias, I do rather like the La-5. It is totally easy mode, though - in my 2nd flight in it ever I shot down 2 Spits by out-turning them. I believe it was part of gitting guud and finally learning how to energy-fight, but also in part the ridiculously rapid-fire nose cannons. They're like a fire hose of bullets.
Actually, no. ;D I am a far better pilot now than then, and back then was Arcade mode only. I still do Arcade occasionally, to Ace the higher BR planes faster, and also previously to earn some guaranteed Lions as opposed to being blown out the sky by OP Sovs. ;) Even now I am going back into Arcade mode to speed up my acquisition of the Ar 234's beautiful grey camouflage from tonnage dropped, with in-sky reloads.
Another good vidya, has inspired by to try Russians in RB! Took this one out this morning and found it good. Accidentally ripped wings after getting two kills in my first flight. Being a 109 player I’m used to exploiting its dive speed and energy retention characteristics. Also note fragile water cooled engine has to be watched. One scratch and it starts to over heat. Firepower is good, especially being centrally mounted like the 109f a G series. Given me a taste for the Yaks.
Great video! I like yak 7B too. If you want to check out more yaks, i suggest Yak-9U. It has the best performance out of all prop yaks (slightly better hat yak-9p and yak-9ut). Unfortunately it has the same guns as yak-7b and overheats like crazy. Opening radiatiors in climb is suggested. I know that you don't want to use MEC but it really benefits Yak 9u. i mean opening radiators to 100% in climb. if you would use this, don't forget to switch superchager at 2400m. After climbing i go back to auto engine controls.
Hi Jengar, could you please do a review of the Ki-45 tei with the 20mm Schräge Musik cannons and the front facing 37mm gun with 15 rounds and show us how to use it? Is the schrage musik easier to use in cockpit view?
Aced and spaded this plane this week. It's one of my favorites right now. Just got out of a game where a friendly had 5 on him and I took them all out, plus 2 bombers at the end of the game.
I did manage to get a talisman on this plane from a battle trophy and whenever Gaijin had released any new rank 1 or 2 planes I would use this to unlock them.
i was negative in it before this flyout, those stats were from 4 years ago though ;) now i turned that around to 3-1 k/d ratio. Which means i must have gone 6 or 7 to 1 in this last flyout in it.
I got 6 kills with this thing on my first game, easiest stock grind ever. But more importantly, now it only seams to have one brezen machine gun instead of 2, it still has the same amount of ammo but just one less gun
I have started grinding for russians jets and im on rank 4 so far and gotta say the Yak line is by far the easiest line to play with. I played with germans and americans and i have both F4E and Mig 21MF but oh my the russians do pack a punch with their ufo like yak's im enjoying yak 9u at the moment and even stock i can feel it have more power then the yak 3, i am able to pull amazing tricks with the plane and even got an ace in yak 3
mig line, with I-185's and the mig -9 first. That would be my choice atm. but the la line is close. I'd first have to fly more yak's to see where that would stand.
I'd still prefer the Yak-1B for it's extra agility, at the same battle rating. Although i haven't as so much played the Yaks anymore in recent times after getting to the Yak-3P due to the Japanese and similar opponents creaming us each game in three minutes. I still haven't figured out how to stop the Japanese from being in our matches every game, or how to s top them from wiping us out. Many players have noticed this and especially due to the Japanese having an extremely high winrate in the planes against the Russians.

Tier 2 is the golden tier in my opinion. Almost all the planes are so fun to play!

I have to agree - that’s where I spend most of my time. Just find jets boring. Tier 2 is more classic ww2 dogfighting.

Nice to see some Yak's too. I've always wondered whats the difference between many of the yak models in RB. In AB they are all almost the same.
i'll be looking at the others, surely its engine power and gun calibers mainly.

yeah, i thinkits because most ppl still fight the japanese incorrectly. turnfighting zero's and some such.
the problem lies within ki's and zero's low and everything else + export premiums high

Yea around that tier yaks are great. Sitting at a comfortable ~80% winrate in my yak9p after like 100 matches, its just that good.

i just unlocked it and when i Boom and Zoom i just slam into a mountain cuz it has rlly bad rate of climb

Everything can out bank me in this. I can't find a single russian fighter i can dog fight in. I cant bank fast enough on anything to get on target.
