Today its time to fly out the Bf 109 E3 in a Realistic Battle. Flew out with the Bf 109 E-3 yesterday for the first time since release of 1.77, Advancing Storm. And found out exactly what this plane is about, lets see how it went. Hope you enjoy :)

Hey guys, we're looking at the Bf 109 E-3 today in this episode of our realistic review series. This 109 is the one i never liked in the far past, but she surprised me years later, i can now say im in love ;) Hope you enjoy! and have a great day!
I've been flying this out a lot lately too, trying to earn the last skin by killing British planes, E4 is also a great plane, basically the same plane but stronger engine, so faster and better climb. Its just a shame the F series doesn't maneuver like this.
Jengar, can you tell us who is the best between the E3 and the E7-U2? thx

One of the biggest problems I had with this one, looking back, was purely convergence and the 20mm shells, and I'm kicking myself now that I've really started messing with convergence on my planes. Better late than never, I suppose lol
i would slightly prefer the e-7

Ah the E-3, love that plane. This is the plane where I learn most of the basic energy fighting skills. It has good enough turn rate for me, who is used to turn fighting, to transition to energy fighting. Was a bit sad when my Japanese Bf109 E3 was changed to E7, but the difference wasn't that big.
no indeed, their pretty similar. better speed and climb on the e-7.
I didn’t know that about the Japanese E7 was originally an E-3. Did they buff it when the changed the designation?
I cut my teeth on the E3 in WT. love the E-3, and E7. I just wish the E7 was tier III.
@@mrmeowsir2355 IIRC the model has always been E7, Gaijin just misnamed it.

its a great 109 indeed, and yes, great that you see that, because thats my view on it as well, focus on your development as a pilot and you can make everything work, except the ki-108 maybe ;)

Same here, it's a solid plane sitting nicely at 2.7, which is a great BR to be playing at, decently challenging, but not too easy like 1.0 to 2.0 and not torturous cancer like literally everything between 3.7 and 5.3

If one knows how to use them the E series 109’s are possibly the deadliest variant relative to their battle ratings. Great stuff as always boss!
Oh I disagree. The F4 exists at 3.7 and will roflstomp practically anything up to 5.0
Ian K I have much love for the F4 it’s my favorite and most played aircraft
there's a lot of the early 109's that are very competative at their br's, the f-1 and f4 amongst them, but also the complete e series, including the e-1 at 2.0 br.

I remember this one time I was playing RB, and ended up on a team full of BF109 E3's (including me) the only non-109 planes were bombers, all our fighters were 109 E3's, and we kept joking about how we were gonna rule the skies, we had great coordination too, flying together, discussing who kills what, only peeling off if we were gonna take someone out. (We knew we could solo most planes) Unfortunately I was the first to go down, I went to take out a Blenheim then 3 separate streams of tracer rounds suddenly started shooting me all at the same time, (I was only expecting one at most) ended up shooting out my water, oil and punching holes all over my plane, but my engine was still going, so I was able to get to the airfield, but I think my brain told me my engine was dead, and didn't think to dive down a bit to make landing easier (I was at 4-5 thousand meters) and just flew at that altitude as if my engine was dead and I was just gliding. Only dived when I was too close to the airfield, and wasn't able to slow down enough to land, tried touching down at 400+ km/h, and tore off my gear, tried landing without it (which I've done before) and was able to do it, but I wasn't able to slow down enough and ended up sliding off the airfield, had to leave that game sadly.
Just a funny story I thought I should share, I myself couldn't stop laughing when I looked back and noticed that literally all our fighters on the runway were 109's, of the same model no less, and not an assortment of E4's E3's, F1's and B1's
Excellent mate! Guess that plane got buffed somehow.. I used this as well long time ago and struggled too. Now flying against, I have to be pretty carefull :D

I forgot how bloody fun this thing was. Amazing roll and turn, excellent engine, you do not have much ammo for your canons but once a plane is in your crosshair you are screwed.

At first I got it because it was up the tier and I didn’t test it out. I remember I joined an arcade battle. I found a PBY plane and tried to shoot it down. The cannons started firing and shredded that plane. It is still one of my fav planes
Nose cannon often rattled the whole plane, interfering with the cowl guns and mechanical propeller pitch control. E-4s had a cone over the nose to show that the nose cannon was inoperable.

i loved this video 4 years ago and i love it still now. i flown the E3 recently and im going through the same thing you did. Bad fps, below 20 and nothing above 30 and i just dont like the E3 because of the MGFF canons. i like the MG151s but hopefully when i get a pc when i fly this again itll open my eyes about this plane and the E4

It's amazing honestly just took it out for my first realistic battle in it in probably 4-5 years and got 4 kills i usually get 1 or 2 before dying haha really impressed with it

Interesting video. The lack of control stiffening isn’t very realistic but otherwise looks great. How does it compare to Spitfire MK1? Have you ever reviewed that mk?
Love this plane! A monster in its tier! If the German tree had to be reduced to single plane , I would pick the BF-109E3!

Now in 2022 the Bf 109 E-3 and E-1 are on the same battle rating, and I find that unbalanced as they have barely any differences on flight performance. The E-1 doesn’t have cannons and makes it more difficult to score kills

To be fair the E3 has definitely got better since it was like years ago. They were a huge disappointment for me when I first reached them in the German tree until you got about two or so under your belt. You did alright in THAT video, didn't you? Slick shooting pardner!!

I know I asked this before, but your Zoom Focus view is much better than mine is that the in game view or replay view, or is it just your great computer? I zoom in game for sure but never get that clear of a Zoom or even that close. I know my system needs some updated components, saving for them now, but mostly in War Thunder I am visually having a hard time and NEVER get Zoom effects as you do in this video. Please advise.
you can set the zoom at max in the settings.
For some reason, i do waaay better in the E-4 than in this one. Anytime i get triggered by being bad at tanks, i just hop in a game with the E-4 and get like 4kills in every game.

@@dutchthespitfire3204 Except the high tier ones, then they have to face F4U4B, Griffon spits. (When I made this comment I didn't had the high tier 109s, up to G2 the 109s are OP as hell.)
Is the e3 a turn fighter now... nice play
still an energy fighter, but it is more maneuverable then before.
My problem with the plane is that there's the f1 with same performance as f4 while having center mounted minegeshoss
your problem with the e-3 is that the f1 is more like the f4? the E-3 is more maneuverable ;) the f-1 isnt better at everything.
true but I feel like since the f1 has the same performance as f4 its br should be a bit higher like 2.7 or 3.0
well, i wont agrue against that i think the f-1 and f-2 br's should be swapped tbh.
I am still having trouble getting the cannons to perform so I prefer the E-1 myself.
i can imagine, basicly the same fm at 2.0 with 4 mg's, not bad ;)
from E-series i like japanese premium bf-109 i feel like it have best climb rate and feel lighter or it's in my head only and the flight model is the same
slightly better climb and top speed.
Never really liked the cannons all that much on this bird, I preferred the E4 for cannons, but performance and overall flight characteristics? This bird was unmatched when I spaded it

This thing is totally slaughter plane in low BR battle. Well last year this E-3 became uncontrollable over 700km/h. But now after FM update. This thing can fly like crazy over 750km/h without any obstacle. Just like Bf109E-4....

Good plane, but it has a problem. And that is 109 f1. Lower br, better plane. But it's a very good to.
f1 should have its br swapped with the f2.
If you use M.E.C. for any of the bf 109 you can get the engine to not overheat. It is not that complicated.
95% of the WT RB playerbase doesnt use MEC. i make my reviews for them.
Jengar can you confirm that japanese type 99 mk1 and 2 working shells are the AP-I dominated and/or AP dominated belt?
i tried a few match and the AP-I and AP dominated belt works more efficient than the Pure HEF-T/ Universal HEF belt

It's just the difference between this and the E4 is the guns, as you say. For me the E4 and the E7 are much more effective with the guns.

hi how can i set 50fps ? I have problem with aim of this plane becouse it has very low ammo and wit 19 20 fps its really difficult

The BF 109 F4 for some reason the guns takes a lot to kill I was on target constantly took a good amount of my ammo just to kill them maybe the BF 109 f 4 cannons aren't that great
the mg 151 20mm cannons are one of the, if not the best cannons in the game. I love them.
Jengar then why was there a lot of Sparks lately with them is it because of the new patch BF 109 F4 is kind of my favorite.
i didnt notice sparks while flying the us f-4 this patch that much. i'll have to look at it again to verify your claim/experience.
How did you get Rank does not matter when your a level 100, is there a higher Level?
Rational Reality American rank not matter is given when you kill a higher tier plane, not higher level player

How does it compare to bf109 f1?
Zombi Zombatar worse in every way except ammo load. The F1 is a monster if you can land your shots. It's my favorite 109 to fly for fun.
the e-3 is more maneuverable though
now fly the Bf-109B, low tier and not OP in my opinion (but not too bad)

i was at 5k and there were clouds in between, that helps, not all aa guns were firing ;)
