I feel like im on the minority because zexal and vrains are my fav ygo series. Vrains had some big problems that keep it down for some but for me, i had a lot of fun and was very interesting on it. The lost incident and how its victims reflect on it was also emotional. Vrains also introduced some of the best characters ygo ever had like Revolver or Lightning or Ai. Even though it has some problems, its pretty good imo!
Zexal is arguably my favorite too. I think people give up on Zexal early because of Yuma being kind of obnoxious at first, but he's the only Yugioh protagonist to actually grow and mature through the series instead of starting off already good, making his story more relatable to most new players. Plus the animation quality is absolute Ace and his off the wall strategies are really entertaining to watch while Astral tries his best to make the most of Yuma's rather...questionable deck building. I personally really enjoyed Zexal. and the ending was a great way to close off the series. (and yes I'm aware of how much content was removed when it was dubbed which is a bit of a shame, namely Quatro and Shark's heart to heart when Shark found out he was a Barian and defeated him, but I do feel like some scenes were handled better, like Orbital confessing he sees Kite as like family and Dr Faker making an attempt to save his son instead of just dismissing him as dead and Orbital saying "I'm nothing but a machine, if I fail to protect you then I failed my duty" which sounded so heartless.)
You left out a very important detail of the Ignis arc- In their final duel, Bohman, having absorbed five of the six Ignis, created a network that connected all Vrains users minds to himself, allowing him to cheat by using his Skill every turn and create new monster cards, and Ai blew himself up to take the network down. Ai had created a backup copy inside Robappi, Yusaku's cleaning robot, and that copy absorbed the powers of the Ignis and helped Playmaker beat Bohman. The humanoid Ai that caused all the trouble in the Ai arc was that copy, and after it was destroyed I believe the floating eye at the end of the series was the ORIGINAL Ai from the first 2/3rds of the series, since the final Speed Duel of Season 1 showed that Ai could regenerate but it takes a while, and blowing yourself up to take down a network does a LOT more damage than shielding your buddy from space debris. I know the story continues in Duel Links, so I'm probably wrong, but I still say there were two Ais and Ai #1 is the one that came back in the end and Ai #2 was the one that Yusaku had to destroy.
From my understanding it was more of a time constraint. Studio Galop (the ones making the yu-gi-oh anime for the past 20 years) wanted to end their partnership with Komoney for the YGO ip and this is why Vrains is special in a way since it's the last one. Now the YGO rush sequels are done by studio Bridge (which shows in how the design and story telling has changed a bit)
My ranking is... 1. Arc-V 2. Zexal 3. 5D's 4. Vrains 5. GX 6. DM And the Rush series are both off in the pits of hell somewhere. I can't fully explain my love for Arc-V. I have my fair share of complaints about it, and I do not consider it the "best" by any means, but it stole my entire heart regardless. The cast and the background lore (not necessarily the plot, that could've used some work) were what I really loved about it. Also, I think it had the best duel pacing and balance. Hot take: action duels aren't that bad. Zexal is pretty much for the cast. I love a large chunk of them. Also, it's relatively consistent throughout, which as a writer is something I can appreciate. I have some strong opinions on the fans and Kite's arc in the second half though. 5D's, in my opinion, has both the best and the worst of YGO. Dark Signers is beyond brilliant, easily the highlight of the entire series... and then it drops off hard, cutting any semblance of lore consistency out in favor of changing the plot completely. You remember what I said about consistency? Yeah. Vrains I actually haven't finished, but so far it's a mixed bag. I like some parts of it - the Zaizen siblings and Soulburner have my entire heart - but I have yet another spicy take: Ai is, in my opinion, one of the worst characters in the series. I find him beyond insufferable and obnoxious, and I only tolerate him because he shares a dub VA with the yu-boys and Zarc. GX is another mixed bag, with more bad than good imo. I don't like that Jaden seems to consume the story, leaving almost nothing for the side characters. Again, I haven't finished, but I have the sneaking suspicion I won't like season 3. DM was actually the first YGO I watched, a long time ago... and it just never stuck with me. Nothing against it, but if my friend hadn't suggested watching 5D's together with me, I would never have gotten into YGO. Sorry!
LOL go rush is from the pits of hell! I have so many thoughts about this but hey if that is what you like them more power to you! For me 5D, DM, and GX are the goats forever unless they come out with something remotely similar again in the future
@@KingKasper That's alright, I tend to have strange opinions. It isn't every day you see someone saying Arc-V is their favorite while still asserting that it's an absolute mess of a show LOL
In terms of antagonist and friend characters and even mc vrains was amazing. I would say Revolver tops Kaiba, and Soulburner tops Jonouchi. Though Aoi was disappointing. I knew they weren’t good with female characters but after seeing Serena in arc v I thought they understood how to write female characters who win most of the duels. Though she did have good character development so she is better than most we seen so far.
Wow, this video came out a lot sooner than I expected. Specter, Kusanagi, Revolver, Akira, and Earth were my favorites. Here is my rankings: 1. Arc-V 2. 5Ds 3. GX 4. DM 5. Zexal 6. VRAINS Ngl I dont hate any of the shows, i actually found something about each of them that I like.
@@KingKasper Everyone has their Bias pick, I grew up watching DM, GX, and Zexal on Saturday mornings. So many people who grew up with those shows will be biased. For me its Arc-V because I watched the Japanese sub and watched jt as it was airing back then. I could go more in depth but yeah, I'll just leave it there.

@@KingKasper you're a real one☝️. Besides OG duel monsters, GX,5Ds,Zexal,and Arc-V all differ from their anime counterparts and mostly have 2-3 arcs in their entire run.
I think there was supposed to be some intended connection to the original series? The DSoD movie prequel manga shows that Kaiba produced the Vrains World or at least what would become it, because it featured players using avatars and forming guilds just like it sounds here.
I hear Sevens picks up later with the stakes and intensity and Go Rush seems to have a mature cast of protagonists, but the series is so new that outside of Japan, we don't really have much access to it. Heck the only way those outside Japan can even play Rush duel is in a video game that's really restrictive and Duel Links which adds skills and has different pacing than the real game.
Hope they bring this series back its feels like this show is not over yet there still mysterious unsolve some hints in each episodes like they dont show windy's partner face clearly its feel like if he survive and A.i's simulation showing the dark dreadful future if he see if its true it gonna happening and we never meet other rest member of sol technology like king and bishop and tower and knight also lightning was defeat if he has he's own Another backup plan after if bohman fail can he be able to revive himself its pretty strange why he put he's message to he's hideout to showing A.i if he knew he's coming
Overall I have this down as the best Yugioh show start to finish. Issues with every season are… Duel monsters = inconsistent with rules, sketchy start and too much plot armour. GX = Too many characters and rivals to focus on. 5D’s = really boring third season, very slow at times. Zexal = Way too childish, worst protagonist. Slow and boring at times. Arc V = Bad start and bad end; had potential to be the best. Vrains = second season main villain seems pointless and sometimes loses seem inconsequential. I rank them Vrains Duel monsters 5d’s GX Arc V Zexal
I wish they give Vrains a freaking 2 hours movie because I dislike the cliffhanger ending. Did Yusaku return to the city? Why Ai still alive? Tbh i just want to see Varis and Playmaker "settle" things (I re-watch the series and bro Varis just said they will settle things but until the end of the series, they don't duel anymore) 😮💨😮💨
4:00 - Okay, that’s just misleading. Playmaker and Revolver duel twice in a row with Revolver forcing a draw using Playmaker’s own cards the first time while the second duel is a narrow win for Playmaker.
When you remember that Ai is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai... Same voice as Suzaku from Code Geass... Guess he's the one getting the boot instead of the one giving it to his best friend this time😂if you understand what I mean...
They renamed Soul burner to Theodore Hamilton. Because that's what Japanese children are named. The Bounty Hunter blood Shepard was renamed to Shepherd which makes no sense now
Honestly this is what got me back into watching the Yu-Gi-Oh anime after 5Ds because the sexual and Arc 5 was not good to me and I didn't like the new additions that they added to the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise I hate XYZ and I hate pendulum summoning so when you get to link I'm like okay this works and this is the last time we see studio Gallup work on Yu-Gi-Oh because after that Yu-Gi-Oh 7s and rush duels become some kitty bull crap that honestly I don't consider it Yu-Gi-Oh no matter what anyone says. But another thing that kind of makes me mad about Vrains is that they rush this series so much that didn't make no sense because it was the shortest and they have follow-up stories that are finished in link duels so people who aren't playing link duels wouldn't know the continuation of this story and that kind of sucks honestly.
Wow I didn't know they have more on link duels. I don't play so I fall into those group of people too I guess! Ya definitely don't blame you I agree after 5D the franchise started to get too kiddy especially sevens and go rush 🤦🏽♂️
@@KingKasper Yeah I don't really play link duels or Master duels myself but I do have some friends who play it and was saying hey there's like a another storyline for some of these series that ended after their original run that's inside of those games and I'm just like yeah but a lot of people want to actually see it animated not Oh you have to play a video game to follow up behind it. Yeah after five of these it definitely became two kitty-fied and you got the main characters where they're kind of like soulchildish to the point where it's just like this stuff doesn't really look all that interested in the summoning mechanics feel like a cheat just to overpower synchro summoning fusion and ritual like did we really need XYZ and then you do XYZ but then you have spell cards that allows you to bypass the entire overlay nonsense and then with pendulum somebody you can summon in monsters in between the scales of the pendulum but they're also spell cards so if they're destroyed they go to the top of your extra deck it is nonsensical honestly especially when you have the main character who set up there and was like hey I'm just going to change the rules and regulations of the game because I want to and don't even get me started with sevens and rush that crap looks so stupid I can't even believe they even have the nerve to slap Yu-Gi-Oh on the top of that what I wanted them to do is after Dark Side of the dimensions was to do a new series featuring Yugi and his friends That's what people wanted and that's what they should have did. Not whatever sevens and Gold Rush is doing cuz it's kind of dumb too That's another series where the main character hated the old rules and regulations of Yu-Gi-Oh challenge the network and change you know dual monsters that I'm just like how is this even allowed Why would I be cheering a character on who didn't like the original Yu-Gi-Oh rules change the Yu-Gi-Oh rules just to make themselves feel better.
@@treymykel LMAO you took ALL the words out of my mouth. While I do love the first 3 series, after that things start to get a little dodgy and by Sevens it's just like damn wtf happened here. @@KingKasper Exactly cuz it just doesn't make any sense. Like I don't even understand what they were doing after Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds. And then it felt like the rains was getting back to that classic Yu-Gi-Oh and then you get sevens in Go Rush And it's like who the hell threw up on Yu-Gi-Oh! Hell I was really excited after the dark side of dimensions movies because I thought we was going to finally get a new Yu-Gi-Oh series featuring Yugi as the main character and you know some kind of mysterious nonsense happen or whatever and he's doing to keep his crown as king of games like they could have did something else with you getting his friends because the sad fact of matter is Yugi is the face of the franchise and to ignore that is kind of dumb. Indian each series after 5Ds get progressively worse ain't really helping the situation lol

I swear i thought he provided input in an advisory role but super hands off. Basically just signing off on if the concepts could fly or not in the beginning 🤔
I usually watch dub yugioh unless I get impatient 😂. I think growing up with the first 3 on dub before streaming got big made me have a soft spot for yugioh dub
You're not stupid there's just a lot going on. Long story short vrains is about a kid got kidnapped in an experiment to create Ai then 10 years later he and the AI team up to take down the bad guys but eventually the AI turns bad and he has to take him down as well. Arc is just about a duelist who went crazy and ended up splitting reality into 4 seperate dimensions. Then the dimensions start fighting and the main character has to beat the other dimensions and the original evil duelist to save all of the realities

The English Names are honestly pretty trash. I mean Revolver sounds so much better than Varis and it fits his Deck, or Gor i mean wtf were they thinking naming him just Gor that sounds so awkward.
Exciting? Vrains was so boring. Being an VR anime that made nothing matter. It's a fake world with fake cards, so why should we care about anything? Also, aside from beating earth, the character Go has no effect on the plot what so ever. He should have been in the place of Soulburner. You could remove him from the story and very little would change. Pandor did absolutely nothing for the plot. It's all just bad writing. We know this because of all the recap episodes this show has, they were just making it up as they went along.

Good theory! Also, Thanks for sharing those 💎💎

If season 3 wasn’t limited by budget, it probably would’ve been among the best seasons in the series
Jeez that's bold
@@yuutaruu4242 sadly the changes are not good
My ranking is...
1. Arc-V
2. Zexal
3. 5D's
4. Vrains
5. GX
6. DM
And the Rush series are both off in the pits of hell somewhere.

Kaiba is untouchable but they were solid characters for the most part especially soulburner

I hear Sevens picks up later with the stakes and intensity and Go Rush seems to have a mature cast of protagonists, but the series is so new that outside of Japan, we don't really have much access to it. Issues with every season are…
Duel monsters = inconsistent with rules, sketchy start and too much plot armour.
GX = Too many characters and rivals to focus on.
5D’s = really boring third season, very slow at times.
Zexal = Way too childish, worst protagonist. Slow and boring at times.
