Kinda reminds me of Lysander from Pokemon. But instead of him wanting to wipe out Humanity he rather wipe out Pokemon just because we are too good for them. 🤣 To me I don't understand it. The most stupidest shit Pokemon ever pushed onto their story. If we are too good for the creatures then wipe out Humanity instead of Pokemon. 🤣
@@OpossumPartyy no matter what he wants to kill Pokemon. But in X he will grant immortality onto the player, the friends of player, and on himself. To make everyone that he wants immortality to suffer. While Y he just wants to kill everyone in the lab. Just looked up the dialogue. All I remembered was him wanting to kill all Pokemon all because they are beautiful creatures to them. It doesn't matter what version it was for that. The only difference was immortality and killing in the lab. Tbh I think it's super dumb of his reasoning to kill Pokemon if he thinks they are beautiful creatures to him and we take them for granted. That I really think is so dumb and hypocritical thinking.
Really? That's his goal and motivation in the games? I'm an anime-only fan so the only thing I know about Lysandre is that he wants to destroy the world and recreate it into a "better world", because he believes humanity is selfish & evil.
@@someteennamedcharles2035 his views is kinda the same from that of the games. But in the games he just wanna kill Pokemon because we are too good for them. I forgot that the anime left that out. Or matter the fact its a bit reversed.
Skye did have a Link 3 Trickstar though: Trickstar Delfiendium, however she was only used once. I suppose for Skye's real Link 3 Ace is in with the Marincesses as Marbled Rock
I thought yusaku main monster was the Decode Talker he was more put out than Firewall Dragon and only time he use Firewall Dragon only if he hneed more power to beat his opponents so to me his Ace Monster wouldve been Decode Talker
I would argue that Lightning's ace card was actually Judgement Arrows seeing as how he created the card and during his duels, he would try to get it on the field as fast as possible
She could win many duels, but the writters really hated her Her fduel against Playmaker feels like her deck didn't have any other extra deck trickstar card aside of 1 Holly Angel, any of the trickstars link 2 would help her to win at turn 3 Soulburner plot trap card was The Anime moment and Spectre was offensive I think she could defeat Bohman as redemption at least, but she is not the main character Any victory against any of these 4 would make her look better, but she got the worst of all female main characters luck
I love how the Code Talkers and @Ignisters represent each Ignis via their Attributes: Ai (Dark) - Decode Talker, Doyon @Ignister, Dark Templar @Ignister Lightning (Light) - Encode Talker, Pikari @Ignister, Light Dragon @Ignister Windy (Wind) - Excode Talker, Bururu @Ignister, Wind Pegasus @Ignister Flame (Fire) - Powercode Talker, Achichi @Ignister, Fire Phoenix @Ignister Earth (Earth) - Transcode Talker, Doshin @Ignister, Earth Golem @Ignister Aqua (Water) - Shootingcode Talker, Hiyari @Ignister, Water Leviathan @Ignister Also one of my favourite piece of trivia around Accesscode Talker is when it’s effect was used. The order in which Playmaker banishes the Link monsters via their attributes (except for wind and fire) represent the order the Ignis were killed: Earth (Transcode Talker), Aqua (Splash Mage), Flame (Proxy F Magician), Windy (Exslayer), Lightning (Light Cross), Ai (Decode Talker). The summon of Darkfluid is always interesting to see. From Darkness, a Light shines from a Water that falls to Earth to create a Wind of Fire. It’s such a shame he might not do Sevens - it would be so easy since their ace monsters were obvious. I don’t want to see Sam as a possible Rush hater but the fact he says “until we get another master duel” makes me think either he dislikes Sevens or isn’t a fan of Rush. Not necessary a problem, just unfortunate.
Rush duels were ruined for me when they just crammed it into duel links. Just tacked on like a parasite. I hear rush duels have floodgates anyway, so who gives a shit
@@Sillimant_the floodgates in Rush duel are not as oppressive as they are in the master duels because unlike master duels, effects like preventing special summons don't really stop people from playing in rush, since most of the time people will tribute summon a card to run over the floodgate, or draw into the removal because you can draw until you have 5 in hand, where as in master duel you can only draw 1 per turn
@@blexander Look, I also grew up with the Master Duel format but I also appreciate the Rush Duel format despite the fact so many people dislike/hate it. All I'm saying is that it's a missed opportunity to not continue this series for Sevens and even Go Rush.
Here's my 3 reasons I had trouble liking Playmaker: 1. Interesting character concept but bad execution 2. His foils Ai and Soulburner were more interesting 3. He felt like an antithesis towards another protagonist, Yusei.
@@thatman666 that 3rd reason is more real than you think. they have an "s" sound in the second syllable of their name. they never loses and mostly have draws if they would lose. they have only lost in flashbacks. yusaku's ace, firewall dragon's effect is the opposite of revolver's ace, borreload dragon like how stardust dragon is the opposite of red dragon archfiend. each extra deck monster summoned has a some symbolic meaning to them like how stardust represents yusei's self sacrificing mindset and firewall dragon represents yusaku's will to protect others. their first aces before getting their true aces have the ability to gain strength from having monsters on their field. yusei has his warrior synchro monsters that allows his extra deck to be toolboxy while the same can be said about yusaku's his code talker link monsters. and the list literally goes on and on
@@thatman666 Yusaku is a deconstruction of the typical Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist He starts the show only caring about revenge, he had to develop into the "I love my friends" type of character that the others are. For that, I found him really interesting. He has some of the best development out of the Yu-Gi-Oh portage, it's just very subtle.
Fun fact; When Gore/George was using his Dinowrestler deck in Season 2, he had 2 bounty hunter lackeys with him that both duelled Playmaker whilst Soulburner was duelling Blood Shepard (which was his dubbed and subbed name), and these two bounty hunters both used Gore's "Gouki" deck. Playmaker OTK'd them both pretty easily 😅 but I believe the ace/technically boss monster of one was "Gouki the Solid Ogre", and the others was "Gouki the Blade Ogre". (Not sure why I remembered that 😅)
4:56 Basically what happened to Ai was the opposite of every human character in Vrains. A couple of our characters started off being people who had lost control of their lives in some way and Ai appearing before them wound up being the key to them taking back their lives. By the end of the series, everyone is slowly moving on from their pasts that has haunted them but the cost was Ai losing everything he tried to protect starting with losing the Cyberse World no thanks in small part to a betrayal amongst them and then it lead to the death of his fellow Ignis too leaving only him left with nothing. It also didn't help that he realized he alone can't bring the possibility Revolver had on him. Ai's final goal sadly was an elaborate means for him to die. The irony is our main characters helped Ai protect what he has which is connected to what haunts them allowing them to make peace with their lives, but it ends with him losing everything because of forces he couldn't control and in exchange is now the one who is broken and resolved to do what Revolver had tried to do at the start and it's to kill himself and end the Ignis by his own hand. 7:33 Yusaku's lack of emotional attachment to Decode Talker or Firewall Dragon pretty much points towards the effects of him losing his childhood and the Cyberse deck he gained too was a means to an end for him. Actually Yusaku also finished his last duel against Revolver with Decode Talker. So in a sense that would be his ace. The thing with Yusaku is dueling is a means to an end to uncover and seek out the truth to his ruined life so he can finally find peace. You can say Accesscode Talker by his name is Playmaker letting people into his lives and it getting 1000 ATK for every link marker on a monster is the bonds it shares with the link monsters that brought it to the field meaning he has found peace and can live once more. 11:30 Pandor is an AI much like an Ignis with limited free will and you could say Revolver created a sister deck for the Topolic Link monsters to better compliment them and for Pandor. Too bad there was never a Topologina Nabee. 12:24 Fun fact, the whole theme of the Salamangreats and Reincarnation Link summoning plays to how Takeru's Ignis Flame found and helped him stand up and rise again when he was at his lowest which played well to the card Takeru had at the time being PHOENIX Gearfried a Gemini monster that is gains effects when summoned again. Like a phoenix Takeru rose up from the ashes burning brighter than he ever had. Takeru's parents when he was a kid went searching for him and lost their lives in the process and thus became a delinquent unable and it's thanks to Flame he was able to stand tall again. He was brought into the fold hearing of Playmaker's exploits. 13:34 Correction, Holy Angel is a Link 2 and Aoi's transition from angel to maiden symbolizes her maturity as the series progressed. Aoi played off as an innocent girl looking for love and enjoyment to then get taken advantage of by Spectre. Later she learned the truth and motives of Playmaker and she began to think about what she wants to do. Aoi's Blue Angel persona plays to the kind of person she wants to be while hiding her more reserved and quiet self from others. She changed to a Blue Girl persona to fit with her teaming up on missions with Ghost Girl like a difference in personality between her idol self and her real self. Her Blue Maiden persona is when she meets with Aqua and wanting to help the one friend she made in her childhood that brought light to her life. 15:30 Aqua gave Earth the Crystal Heart card for a while before Go crushed Earth who was then dissected leading to Go having Crystal Heart being given Earth's data before Aqua got back that card along with Earth's data. It took me so long to realize how Bohman got Earth's data along with Aqua's and it's because of Crystal Heart card. 19:35 Go Onizuka had a crisis of confidence at the second arc after where he was losing his place in dueling rankings to Playmaker and Blue Angel. He left the wrestling ring and worked as a merc for SOL tech for a while to beat Playmaker and regain his glory. He goes as far as going down the deep end where he has an AI chip implanted into his brain to boost his skills. After being crushed and waking up at a hospital he understood what really mattered to him and returned to playing his Gouki deck. 21:00 Ai during his free time farted around with Robopi and gave it intelligence and emotions. Roboppi eventually opened the door to helping Ai and Yusaki beat Bohman became a fulfledged sentient AI and Ai's sidekick in his elaborate suicide plot. Robopi's AI's sentient went further like an epiphany type of thing leading to him going nuts during his duel against Soulburner. 21:38 Haru and Bohman were new gen Ignis solely created by Lightning to enact his scheme against humanity and used them to destroy the Cyberse World that Ai went so far as losing his limbs to protect. I WANT TO PLAY THE HYDRADRIVE ARCHETYPE SO BAD! The next best thing so far was Five Headed Link Dragon which I haven't played for a long time ever since I started building newer decks. Judgement Arrows was a link spell Lightning made that he and his new gen Ignis played too. Ai stole Judgement Arrows which he played to show everyone his seriousness. Yeah I only watched every episode once too but Yu-Gi-Oh has always stuck in my mind and Vrains's characters stuck out to me the most because on top of dealing with sentient AI and hackers, it's theme after thinking about it is more towards facing your nightmares to become better people.
In Season 2, when the other Extra Deck methods returned, Yusaku began using alternate versions of Firewall Dragon to make up for the loss of the real deal. The Fusion form (Cyberse Clock Dragon) was the most prominent, so that might be a runner up for Ace Card status! (It needs Clock Wyvern and a Link Monster as Fusion materials, and it’s effect is “When this card is Fusion Summoned: You can send cards from the top of your Deck to the GY, equal to the total Link Rating of the materials used for this card's Fusion Summon, and if you do, until the end of the next turn, other monsters you control cannot attack, also this card gains 1000 ATK for each card sent to the GY by this effect. While you control a Link Monster(s), your opponent's monsters cannot target other monsters you control for attacks, also your opponent cannot target other monsters you control with card effects. If this Fusion Summoned card you control is sent to your GY by an opponent's card effect: You can add 1 Spell from your Deck to your hand.”)
Rush Duel is a bit unambiguous with what a character's ace monster is since the decks are more simple, although they also throw around verbiage of "new Ace" in the writing commonly, mainly just because Japanese use the term "ace monster" in a slightly different way than how we use it in the English community. I think the only possible questionable options would be some of the secondary characters who use multiple boss monsters at the same time like Phaser, or figuring out something like Romin, whose character development has her shift her strategy to center on a new card even if she still uses her old boss monster.
It's understandable if he were to skip it, I doubt he has much experience with those series and it'd be a shame to watch an analysis video where that UA-camr doesn't know/care much about what they're talking about.
Seven’s is a different case. It’s not an extention of the Master Duel format, it’s a whole different game with different rules and cards that are incompatible with Master dueling.
Altergeist is probably one if my favorite archetypes. I've won number of duels w/ only 4 cards: meluseek for direct damage/removal, kunquery for block/negate if meluseek targeted for attack, silquitous to bounce, and personal spoofing to recycle any of the other 3 if targeted or to reuse effects.
when talking about Yusakus connection to his ace, I would like to point you to the only 2 charcters Yusaku truly had a bond with: Kolter and Ai. You already mentioned how Ai had his ace mimic decode talker, and I would also point out that Decode talker is the first link monster they get together. As for Kolter, if you look at the duel between them, Ai makes a point of how he thinks it might be rude that Yusaku used Decode talker against Kolter since it was the card that they fisrt worked together to make, thus making it an important card for their bond. Also, you pointed out how Decode Talker won the duel agains Ai, but I could also point to Yusakus final duel with Varis Decode talker is the card the wins the duel, while Firewall dragon is just a combo piece.
Around the time when Yusaku and Revolver had their final duel, Firewall was already limited on the ban list. This likely means that the writers realized that Firewall could be banned in the future and thus, relegated it and treated Decode like the true ace. And yet it's ironic how throughout all of season 2 (which is the longest Vrains season) he only summons Decode once on screen, whereas he summoned Firewall twice, and one of those duels was just to showcase its XYZ version.
Alongside future Vrains duel analysis vids, what about covering some archetypes from the series such as… Code Talker Borrel/Rokket Salamgreat Marincess Gouki Trickstar Sunavalon
Damn, I just got spoiled so hard.... Currently watching Yu-Gi-Oh! Vrains, but I'm still on episode 51, I didn't mind to see everyone's boss monster. But the AI being the final boss, oh god, I should have postponed to watch that episode. Sam did shouted out "Spoilers" tho, so it's on me
You mentioning the parallel of topologic bomber and firewall dragon’s effects I realize decode talker and borrelload have the same parallel. Decode talker gains attack while borreload reduces it also both have an effect related to targeting
I’d like to see more Vrains related vids, especially for a future duel analysis. If so, will you consider doing Playmaker vs Ai. Why? Because there’s lots of extra deck variety and since Playmaker used all 15 cards in his extra deck, would the duel have played differently had he summoned them at a different point? Also, it’s just an awesome duel and great cap off to Vrains and the studio gallop era of the YGO anime.
Firewall Dragon will always be Yusaku's ace monster in my heart. I love its design so much and I think it fits thematically with Yusaku as a character with its firewall inspo, since he's such a guarded, private person.
VRAINS!!!!!! My favorite season of Yugioh (despite its setbacks behind the scenes) aside from of course classic yugioh, happy to see ya talk about Vrains!
@@ZenoDLC Pendulum has pros and cons on it own. *Yes, it could summoning multiple monsters at once, but it is once per turn, unlike Synchro or Xyz has no limit as long as there's materials. *It's took up several slots of main deck, so unless that deck is dedicated to Pendulum, it's hard to add them as staple cards. *And after a single errata, Pendulum got a massive nerf since it's took 2 Spell/Trap zone slot. The reason why Pendulum seems unbalanced is the archetypes revolves around it, not the summoning method itself. Link, on another hands...
Ai wasn’t trying to destroy humanity when he become the villain, he was trying to make more of himself because of Lightning left simulations that showed the world getting destroyed with him being the only ignis of the world. He did say that some might try to destroy humanity. Holly Angel is a link 2. I want the Hydradrive monsters they’re so cool and Judgement Arrows could easily be made a continuous spell that just boosts Link monsters ATK. Queen cheated too don’t forget that. As for the aces they are all fitting.
The thing with Firewall Dragon was that it barely showed up in the show even before it got banned in the real world. I can't remember the exact number, but I'm pretty sure Playmaker summoned it less than nine times over the whole series. It's interesting that Playmaker and Revolver had monsters that got banned in real life, as Revolver had Topologic Gumblar Dragon, a card that's never getting unbanned without an errata because it could rip damn near your opponent's whole hand before their first Main Phase.
I think the reason why Firewall was rarely used especially during the first season, is because at the time it was mostly reserved for the master duels, which were considered the real big duels in the show. And in the first season I believe Yusaku dueled in 4 and summoned Firewall in 3. Firewall was showcased as his ace in the first 2 master duels, then it got limited on the ban list halfway through season 1, then in the final master duel of season 1 Firewall stopped being treated as his main ace and the honor of delivering the finishing blow was given to Decode. Honestly, they got really lucky that they planned on making Firewall a monster he would only use on special occasions during the early stages of Vrains, so it was easy to write it out of the show and had another monster to fall back on as his "ace", the logical choice being Decode.
Yusaku it isn't that complicated, his ace is Decode Talker. Decode Talker was the first ace shown. Decode was used for a large number of his duel victories including a lot of plot-significant duels. Decode Talker's evolution is his final ace. The literal only reason people don't agree with it is because of a made-up ATK point fixation.
@tahjkuemmerle I mean Jaden backstory is kinda complex. He was a recarniation of a king thousand of years ago, which had something called the Gentle Darkness. He also had a guardian who would have an enteral love and bond to him: Yubel. He also had nightmare of this guardian as a baby and during this he made cards and launched them into space. And the worst thing about Jaden backstory is his careless parents.
Following anime story Playmaker's ace is Decode Talker, the one who represents his bond with Kusanagi and Ai, it's the only card we know has a bigger weight for PM than just being a "weapon"
I don't know if you continue watching the Bridge era Yugioh, like Sevens or Go Rush, but it would be neat if you extend this series and other videos into the Sevens and Go Rush era. The Rush era Yugioh really needs more love from the fandom.
Blue Angel has several Duel Links skills mentioning Marincesses, yet there's only 3 Marincesses in Duel Links, 2 monsters and 1 Link 2 monster. Like wha? Why have skills if there's not enough cards to use it?
7:30, I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that, within the first 10 episodes of Vrains or so, Playmaker states that he doesn't like dueling, so that's likely why you don't see any emotional attachment. I don't know how the dub handles it, but he does state that he only duels to get revenge on Hanoi early on.
I like the thought process behind topologic bomber dragon being the original ace for revolver. But when in firewalls first duel he was up against borreload and was called his true deck
I'm not sure if you've made this video before but I'd love to see a Gimmick Puppet Archetype video. I've been watching Zexal again and I'd like to learn more about Quattro's deck
TGS Anime: Yusaku hasn’t shown feelings to his cards, like Yugi does with Dark Magician… Everyone: Yeah, that’s actually true- TGS Anime: …or Yusei does with Neos. Everyone: … I beg your pardon!?
Awesome video, although the link 3 theme for ace cards is cool, for Spectre I think Link-4 Sunavalong Dryantriay is more fitting to be his ace, especially cause it has a very ace-card ish effect where it can gain attack equal to all the plant monsters it points to, and fetches a sunavalon spell/trap on summon.
You are forgetting 7s' Ace monsters, so this isn't the last one. I don't agree with them "disappearing" Firewall Dragon simply cause the real world card game banned version. That'd be like if they were told the real world ban list and used that for Battle City. Also, funny enough with the timing of the video, cause the last event that just ended in Duel Links was a Vrains centered one about Ghost Gal. Also, her Altergeist deck in DL is real good.
The battle city arc was being made around 1990s While the first ban list is created in 2004 if i remember correct So they can't use real life ban list in battle city
I actually kinda like that playmaker is mostly emotionless to his cards as he was emotionless throughout basically the entire show which made the moments that he did get emotional mean a lot more, it also fits with his backstory of essentially being programed to only care about winning so his ace monster is just the strongest one he has access to. 1:06 also is it just me or does yuyas hand look really weird in this picture, something about it just doesn't seem right.
"I actually kinda like that playmaker is mostly emotionless to his cards as he was emotionless throughout basically the entire show which made the moments that he did get emotional mean a lot more, it also fits with his backstory of essentially being programed to only care about winning so his ace monster is just the strongest one he has access to." To me it was the opposite, we had a protagonist who didn't like duels but kept using them as weapons, and never enjoyed them. Also it's never explained why PM used real cards, one of the plotpoints in the Hanoi arc was that most people played with digital cards but PM didn't (so they tried to infect people who used real cards with a virus) but if PM doesn't have attach to his cards, why use the real ones instead of digital ones?
@@FranciscoRamirez-nb4uu most likely trauma which is one of the main story points of vrains and because of his goal. Playmaker wanted the kids from the lost incident to be remembered and acknowledged so it makes sense that he would keep the cards from that time instead of throwing them away and forgetting about them. It's not necessarily the cards he cares about but what they represent.
@@darkwolf9637 "Playmaker wanted the kids from the lost incident to be remembered and acknowledged so it makes sense that he would keep the cards from that time instead of throwing them away and forgetting about them" I don't think he wanted them to be remembered since he never tried to talk in the news or something, he was battling for his revenge. The best argument I think is that AI gave him the cards (before meeting him, although I don't remember if that happens in the real world or Link Vrains) but when they met AI they could just make the cards digital so I don't see a reason for PM to keep using real ones
@@FranciscoRamirez-nb4uu the same reason people keep physical pictures when they could just have digital ones. The picture itself is completely worthless but what the picture represents and the moment it reminds you off means something
@@darkwolf9637 those people usually (mostly) like the game, and even if in the present they don't is not that big of a problem like Yusaku who has a trauma because of it. I will say from Yusaku's perspective is toxic to keep the cards, at least before the end of S1
I’d argue that decode talker symbolizes Playmaker really well. It’s effect of tributing other monsters symbolizes how Playmaker doesn’t care about using others (primarily AI as a hostage) to further his goal. And then the decode talker evolution transcode talker also symbolizes how much Playmaker has grown throughout the series (him banishing monsters with attributes in order of the ignis dying also symbolizing him moving on from the past). In other words, I thinks it’s clear decode talker is Playmaker’s ace as it symbolizes him. EDIT: Topologic bomber dragon (which is clearly not revolver’s ace) being acquired in the same duel as firewall dragon imo further proofs that firewall dragon was never planned to be the main Playmaker ace.
i think you're forgetting that topologic bomber dragon was obtained through storm access. a skill that allows its users to obtain monsters in desperate (when their LP is 1000 or less) situations. due to this your proof weakens, and it further falls apart due to the mere existence of firewall dragon darkfluid. the existence of darkfluid means firewall was supposed to stick around for much much longer. hell, and i'm pretty damn sure that firewall dragon singularity was already in the works, but was pushed to the side due to firewall's banning and the refocusing on decode talker.
No, Firewall was always planned to be the ace monster. Even during the early stages of the anime when it came to promoting the show, sure they put Decode with Yusaku a couple times but when they put all the protagonists from the previous shows and their aces, Konami would always go with Firewall as Yusaku's ace instead of Decode, especially during the official OCG tournaments and other related live events. Plus that first master duel also heavily indicated that Firewall would be his ace moving forward so it could parallel his rival's ace, just like the Stardust Dragon vs Red Dragon Archfiend rivalry. But of course it got limited halfway during the first season so it started to appear less in the show and then was dropped entirely after it was banned.
@@junshiroi1952 I believe Decode Talker Extended and Dark Fluid were announced in the timeframe of the episodes they debuted so they both were thougth in advance. And in the case of DT Extended it debuted in an episode were Kusanagi said it symbolizes the bond between Yusaku, Ai and him while Dark Fluid was given to PM just because he was Ai's partner. But it suppose to be the Ignis giving their powers to Ai, more like PM. Decode Talker in teh narrative was more use as an ace
Awesome video, definitely want to see a duel analysis of the joke character and the knight bricking. I liked that duel a lot since its the only one in the franchise where we see a double brick which is way more common than the anime will lead you to believe
I think code talker is to as Yusaku as warrirlors to Yusei, a useful supply of monsters to support their ace, but I think other than banlist shenanigans, decode talker is his most important. It is his first boss monster, and it represent the Dark Ignis, which was vital to Ai and Yusaku. It was so important that Ai needed his own version.
Another thing that make Firewall Dragon iffy as the protagonist ace monster is that all of the ones before it need at the very least only two cards to be summoned in the most standard way possible. Dark Magician and Neos need 2 monsters to be tribute summoned. Stardust Dragon needs 1 tuner and at least 1 non-tuner. (This also applies to Junk Warrior and Stardust Spark Dragon.) Utopia needs 2 level 4 monsters. Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon needs 2 cards on the Pendulum Scale to be pendulum summoned, or 2 monsters to be tribute summoned. (This also applies to Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon.) But Firewall Dragon is a Link-4 Link Monsters. Technically, you can still summon it with two cards: either a Link-3 + any monster or 2 Link-2 monsters. But those link monsters will have to be summoned in the first place so you're technically not really using only 2 cards to summon Firewall Dragon. If you replace Firewall Dragon with Decode Talker, the same problem applies. You can't use only 2 cards to summon it. (And I guess this problem also applies to Flame WIngman and Terra Firma. They need Polymerization and 2 fusion materials, totalling 3 cards.)
17:08 Ghost Girl did actually win a duel against Playmakers BFF Brave Max. Since he is comic relief, I can see you meaning to win against a pro duelist.
I’m enjoying season two of reigns and really enjoyed season one. It’s amazing how many spoilers you dropped in the first 13 minutes of this video so I guess I’ll have to come back and watch it after I finished.
The duel where the knight of aoi and brave warrior (i don't remember his name but the funny duel where they brick) you could bting it to us the 1st of april for the april fools
I thought Decode Talker Heatsoul was amazing when they created it!!!! I do hope when continuing the Cyberse archetype, they create more combined forms of Decode Talker with other anime characters' monsters!!! Since they formed Decode Heatsoul from Soulburner's Link 3 Cyberse Heatleo, maybe they could do it with other Link-3 Aces from characters like Blue Maiden, Revolver, etc. {Blue Maiden's Link-3 Cyberse Ace is Marincess Marbled Rock, so Decode Talker Submerge (due to the naming for Decode Heatsoul being based off of the anime attack name of Heatleo; we use it again with Marbled Rock). The only Link-3 Cyberse of Revolver's that matches the theme would be Topologic Trisbaena (which in interesting trivia that Trisbaena actually mirrors Decode Talker), so Decode Talker Migration Force (I know that attack is the effect name & not the attack name, but it is what Trisbaena is known
Firewall Dragon was so overpowered that even I could tell it was overpowered, and I can't often tell when that's the case, even with super-popular cards like Infinite Impermanence... Also, I remember reading somewhere that the guy scripting the duels hated Soulburner, because his deck was so powerful that it was difficult for him to write interesting duels with Soulburner. It was just too hard to put him in situations where he could realistically be about to lose.
I find it pretty interesting that, beyond the protagonist template of "ace has 2500 attack" thing, there is also a bit of a case for another semi-regular template for the protagonist's backup/replaced ace: a monster with attack >2000 but
Watching this video make me realize how much character's cards and archetypes from VRAINS that are really meta relevant in the real world, Accesscode, Salamangreat, Dragon Link, Trickstar, Altergeist, etc
I honestly prefer Decode Talker as Yusaku's ace, in my opinion its cooler than Firewall. Even though Firewall has that 2500 ATK i think its more fitting for a boss monster status, like Darkfluid ended up being. Also i could never imagine Dark Templar @Ignister as a Dragon
Any chance we could get a revival of the Character Profile series with some of the Vrains characters?? I think the only archetype that’s had a video done too was Trickstar.
I really really hope you do a boss monsters series I would love to see that series and the different boss monsters throughout the different yugioh series.
Bricking and then proceeding to smile at your opponent like you have the perfect hand is a hilarious situation every Yugioh player should get the chance to experience at least once xD
I’d argue that Spector’s Ace monster is Sunvine Thrasher as he uses it to take cards from his opponent which he takes pleasure in and he’s used it to win multiple duels
I always thought the reason Konami doesn't print a lot of the Archetypes in Vrains is that a lot of them wouldn't be that good/playable in the real world TCG (I think another UA-camr dissected each archetype, especially Hydradrives). If Konami were to print them they'd have to be really powerful and that risks another "Pre-Errata Firewall Dragon" situation.
JCD Godot ripped apart vrains horrible archetypes. Vrains and Arc V are notorious for having the worst cards ever printed and many had to be buffed for the real game
i doubt firewall was meant to be his ace , just like how the "crow was dark signer" theory . Do you think they would change their entire course of anime just for 1 card ?
VRAINS did a really good job (maybe TOO good) of giving the anime characters well-built decks. It's likely my favorite YGO series, and some of the aces/decks that were used were pretty solid representations of their characters (although the Signer Dragons in 5D's probably did it better - but maybe with more mixed results in playability). FWIW, I think Yusaku does "care," to some extent, about what the cards represent - he complicated his duel against Zaizen just because he didn't want to destroy the monsters representing Akira and Aoi/Skye. Between Firewall and Decode, I think he became more attached to Decode, as he reminisces about it with Ai in the final duel (though it was probably written that way because of the banlist). As for Revolver/Varis, it's kind of interesting that Bomber has the more rival-esque effect (especially similar to Jack's Red Dragon Archfiend, even) but was representative of using what the Ignis had against them - when Borreload was the "actual" rival ace but had an effect that let you use what the opponent had against them.
I mean the way I see it with Yusaku's aces... It's like with Yusei (which coincidentally, he's his parallel) and his ace monsters: Code Talker = Junk Warrior Decode Talker = Stardust Dragon Firewall Dragon = Shooting Star Dragon
Decode Talker's equal was Junk Warrior while Firewall Dragon's was Stardust Dragon. Code Talker doesn't fit since it has only 1300 ATK, if we consider tuners as lower forms, then he would be the match for Yusei Junk Synchron, however, Playmaker only used it once. Shooting Star Dragon and Quasar matches would be Darkfluid and Accesscode, though I am not sure which: Darkfluid effect is way closer to Quasar overall power by the number of monsters in the GY/ used for it summons, and both negate effects while allowing multiple attacks; Accesscode allows many destrcutios as many Links you banished just as Shooting Star gains as many attacks as tuners excavated from the deck. However, both Accesscode and Quasar when destroyed were part of plays that brought back the lower Aces (Decode and Shooting Star respectively) and were only used once each in the anime and during the final duel, while Darkfluind and Shooting Star were used more times and also share the multiple attacks effect. So I think on that last one is subjective.
3:09 yeah no My hot take is that if Firewall was ACTUALLY intended to be Yusaku's ace they NEVER would have banned it at ALL during Vrains' run, and a fundamental part of Firewall's design supports it not an Ace, it NOT being Dark Attribute the Attribute of Yusaku's Ignis INCLUDING all of Firewall's upgrades being Dark and his bosses of every other summoning mechanic it was never Dark Magician, Firewall was Yusaku's BLS Also looking at the 2 cards track records Firewall BARELY wins duels itself I think it's only ever won 2 And Sevens Road Magician has Konami doubling down on 2500 atk not being a requirement(as I'd like to see anyone argue in good faith that it isn't Yuga's ace), the same way people used to argue that the Rivals ace HAD to be a Dragon type because they were, up until they weren't with Reiji in Arc V it's common but it's NOT a rule 7:39 Decode Talker is the only card Yusaku has any real emotional connection to as he shows with both Extended (his connection to Kusanagi) and Accesscode(his connection to Ai) 15:52 no it's Marbled Rock her Link-3, Bubble Reef only gets used once and she effectively used a different Link-4 each time she dueled Marbled is constantly used
"He's not that evil, but he wanted to wipe out humanity" I've heard that before
Kinda reminds me of Lysander from Pokemon. 🤣

Ah yes….the Link 3 Ace Card for Blue Angel
13:30 Link 2 Holly Angel
It's very weird that Blue Angel's Ace Card is a Link 2. But hey, the deck she uses is rather annoying to deal with if you know how to use it right.
Marincess was rouge and one of the best rogues from last year. All of Aois decks are viable and busted. But she got the female duelist treatment
@@MakuraZalisat least she got some Ws. Gore Gal got even less.
Skye did have a Link 3 Trickstar though: Trickstar Delfiendium, however she was only used once.
I suppose for Skye's real Link 3 Ace is in with the Marincesses as Marbled Rock
7:47 Ah yes, Yusei's ace monster/monsters: Elemental Hero Neos and Flame Wingman (I'm just playing around)
I thought only i noticed lol
I noticed that to and chuckled
I went to the comments the moment I heard it to see if i heard it correctly 😂
It happened again. 😂
Yuma also having Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon
Decode Talker: I have taken the 2500 ATK virginity…
Firewall Dragon: Screw you!
I thought yusaku main monster was the Decode Talker he was more put out than Firewall Dragon and only time he use Firewall Dragon only if he hneed more power to beat his opponents so to me his Ace Monster wouldve been Decode Talker
The duel between Brave Battler and the Knight of Hanoi would be perfect for an April Fools video
I would argue that Lightning's ace card was actually Judgement Arrows seeing as how he created the card and during his duels, he would try to get it on the field as fast as possible
SINGLE ARROW Link Spells to support the Extra Deck methods
That's all they had to do! Not the Link-2s that they did...
Man, it’s unbelievable that Aoi has an absurdly good archetype deck and yet her duels and performance are any but in the anime.

Any victory against any of these 4 would make her look better, but she got the worst of all female main characters luck
I love how the Code Talkers and @Ignisters represent each Ignis via their Attributes:
Ai (Dark) - Decode Talker, Doyon @Ignister, Dark Templar @Ignister
Lightning (Light) - Encode Talker, Pikari @Ignister, Light Dragon @Ignister
Windy (Wind) - Excode Talker, Bururu @Ignister, Wind Pegasus @Ignister
Flame (Fire) - Powercode Talker, Achichi @Ignister, Fire Phoenix @Ignister
Earth (Earth) - Transcode Talker, Doshin @Ignister, Earth Golem @Ignister
Aqua (Water) - Shootingcode Talker, Hiyari @Ignister, Water Leviathan @Ignister
Also one of my favourite piece of trivia around Accesscode Talker is when it’s effect was used.
Imagine that. A person who grew up with Master Format yugioh anime wants more Master Format yugioh anime.
@@blexander Look, I also grew up with the Master Duel format but I also appreciate the Rush Duel format despite the fact so many people dislike/hate it. All I'm saying is that it's a missed opportunity to not continue this series for Sevens and even Go Rush.

I found him boring, honestly.
@@Scarifar1 don't let him hear you otherwise he'll give you three reasons
Here's my 3 reasons I had trouble liking Playmaker:
1. Interesting character concept but bad execution
2. His foils Ai and Soulburner were more interesting
3. He felt like an antithesis towards another protagonist, Yusei.
@@thatman666 that 3rd reason is more real than you think. they have an "s" sound in the second syllable of their name. they never loses and mostly have draws if they would lose. they have only lost in flashbacks. yusaku's ace, firewall dragon's effect is the opposite of revolver's ace, borreload dragon like how stardust dragon is the opposite of red dragon archfiend. each extra deck monster summoned has a some symbolic meaning to them like how stardust represents yusei's self sacrificing mindset and firewall dragon represents yusaku's will to protect others. their first aces before getting their true aces have the ability to gain strength from having monsters on their field. yusei has his warrior synchro monsters that allows his extra deck to be toolboxy while the same can be said about yusaku's his code talker link monsters. and the list literally goes on and on
@@thatman666
Yusaku is a deconstruction of the typical Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist
He starts the show only caring about revenge, he had to develop into the "I love my friends" type of character that the others are.
Thanks!
7:47 Yusei has a Neos???!!! Awesome!😂
Same as Holly Angel being link 3
26:25 This sounds like a potential April Fools Day video!
Vrains definitely followed the path of reality a bit too well because of how long some turns went for some duels
I think it's also why people tend not to like the main cast as much, they feel too human. I loved them for that though.
Technically, this might not be the last of the ace monster related vids as we do have the rush duel animes to cover too, Sevens and Go Rush.
i dont think he has expierience with the rush duel series.
It’s not an extention of the Master Duel format, it’s a whole different game with different rules and cards that are incompatible with Master dueling.

when talking about Yusakus connection to his ace, I would like to point you to the only 2 charcters Yusaku truly had a bond with: Kolter and Ai.
I like the Subtlety of yusaku feeling for his cards
Firewall dragon is the Egyptian god of Vrains
@@advanceringnewholder I'd say it's moreso his BLS
Around the time when Yusaku and Revolver had their final duel, Firewall was already limited on the ban list. This likely means that the writers realized that Firewall could be banned in the future and thus, relegated it and treated Decode like the true ace. And yet it's ironic how throughout all of season 2 (which is the longest Vrains season) he only summons Decode once on screen, whereas he summoned Firewall twice, and one of those duels was just to showcase its XYZ version.

16:26 Somebody, show this man MBT's channel. The Tindangler will never be forgotten.

The more time passes, the more I think Link summoning was a mistake. They just could not balance cards during this era at all.
Doesn't help that majority of the new cards from LINK VRAINS packs weren't as future proofed.
How balanced were Pendulums? Link was partially a response to that after all
@@ZenoDLC
Pendulum has pros and cons on it own.
The only reason I can tolerate them is the restrictions are removed
Link was introduced to mitigate pendulums which were the bigger issue.
Personally I think Links are a lot of fun and are basically Synchro 2.0

Ai wasn’t trying to destroy humanity when he become the villain, he was trying to make more of himself because of Lightning left simulations that showed the world getting destroyed with him being the only ignis of the world. He did say that some might try to destroy humanity. Holly Angel is a link 2. I want the Hydradrive monsters they’re so cool and Judgement Arrows could easily be made a continuous spell that just boosts Link monsters ATK. Queen cheated too don’t forget that. As for the aces they are all fitting.
Hydra drives would need to be rebuilt from scratch if they were to be printed in the card game. Jcd Godot has a video about the Hydra drives
Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid: Who thought this was a good card design?
Honestly, Yusaku and Jaden are probably the most complex characters to determine what their ace monster. They had so many Ace monsters.
For a second there I thought you were trying to call Jaden a complex character and I almost laughed out loud in the library.
@@SowaraAkther1 And don't forget, his character development is the most impressive out of all the main protagonists! Make no mistake!
The closest thing to character profiles for Vrains. I’m been waiting for this for a long time.
I think they will probably add more Marincess when Zaizen gets added to the game
A main box with Marincess and Tindangle and whatever else they decide to add. Some kind of Zaizen siblings box
What do you mean this is the last video in the series? You won't be doing Sevens?
This is awesome and keep up with the great work and I hope you have a good day and you are all awesome
11:30 LIES! Pandor's ace monster is clearly Topologina Nabee.
I like the thought process behind topologic bomber dragon being the original ace for revolver. But when in firewalls first duel he was up against borreload and was called his true deck
I still think it was Firewall because its his highest Link Monster with Darkfluid BUT then there's Accesscode Talker Link 4...what the heck Komoney
This is awesome and keep up with the great work and I hope everyone have a good day
I'm sure Jaden's main monster in the anime was going to be shining flare wingman, but I'm guessing they couldn't find unique ways of summoning him.

7:47 Yusei Neos.
Dude, you really need to proofread these scripts.
Ai didn't want to destroy humanity. He wanted them to think he wanted that so they'd kill him
You are forgetting 7s' Ace monsters, so this isn't the last one.
The battle city arc was being made around 1990s
While the first ban list is created in 2004 if i remember correct
So they can't use real life ban list in battle city
It's really funny how you can't summon Heatsoul with just Decode Talker and Heatleo
7:47 😂😂😂
Yusa + Neos
I think you mean Jaden bro😅😂
I actually kinda like that playmaker is mostly emotionless to his cards as he was emotionless throughout basically the entire show which made the moments that he did get emotional mean a lot more, it also fits with his backstory of essentially being programed to only care about winning so his ace monster is just the strongest one he has access to.
1:06 also is it just me or does yuyas hand look really weird in this picture, something about it just doesn't seem right.

To me it was the opposite, we had a protagonist who didn't like duels but kept using them as weapons, and never enjoyed them.

"Playmaker wanted the kids from the lost incident to be remembered and acknowledged so it makes sense that he would keep the cards from that time instead of throwing them away and forgetting about them"
I don't think he wanted them to be remembered since he never tried to talk in the news or something, he was battling for his revenge.
Firewall dragon wasn't ever supposed to be his ace. He doesn't get it until the last episode of s, and out of his 28 duels, he only used it 8 times.
I don't think it was PM ace, but he got it like in ep 12 or 13, if I recall correctly
EDIT:
Topologic bomber dragon (which is clearly not revolver’s ace) being acquired in the same duel as firewall dragon imo further proofs that firewall dragon was never planned to be the main Playmaker ace.
i think you're forgetting that topologic bomber dragon was obtained through storm access. a skill that allows its users to obtain monsters in desperate (when their LP is 1000 or less) situations. due to this your proof weakens, and it further falls apart due to the mere existence of firewall dragon darkfluid. the existence of darkfluid means firewall was supposed to stick around for much much longer. hell, and i'm pretty damn sure that firewall dragon singularity was already in the works, but was pushed to the side due to firewall's banning and the refocusing on decode talker.
Yes, yes, and yes! Ace and boss monsters explained are my favorite videos🎉
(This also applies to Junk Warrior and Stardust Spark Dragon.)
Utopia needs 2 level 4 monsters.
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon needs 2 cards on the Pendulum Scale to be pendulum summoned, or 2 monsters to be tribute summoned. (This also applies to Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon.)
But Firewall Dragon is a Link-4 Link Monsters.
26:15 Has there ever been a duel besides this one where both players clearly bricked?
17:08 Ghost Girl did actually win a duel against Playmakers BFF Brave Max. Since he is comic relief, I can see you meaning to win against a pro duelist.
I’m enjoying season two of reigns and really enjoyed season one. It’s amazing how many spoilers you dropped in the first 13 minutes of this video so I guess I’ll have to come back and watch it after I finished.
There's still is Yu-gi-oh Sevens, so if you are doing all the series then 1 more to go for now :P
The duel where the knight of aoi and brave warrior (i don't remember his name but the funny duel where they brick) you could bting it to us the 1st of april for the april fools
He mentioned the topologic theme....finally Konami will make this deck in the tcg/ocg.😊
Playmaker had the best ace cards in VRAINS
26:13
You could do that Duel Analysis as a quick video for April Fools if you wanted to
Firewall Dragon was so overpowered that even I could tell it was overpowered, and I can't often tell when that's the case, even with super-popular cards like Infinite Impermanence...
Also, I remember reading somewhere that the guy scripting the duels hated Soulburner, because his deck was so powerful that it was difficult for him to write interesting duels with Soulburner. It was just too hard to put him in situations where he could realistically be about to lose.
Guys, holly angel is a link 2 😭
I find it pretty interesting that, beyond the protagonist template of "ace has 2500 attack" thing, there is also a bit of a case for another semi-regular template for the protagonist's backup/replaced ace: a monster with attack >2000 but
13:35 Ah yes. LINK-*3* Holly Angel with that exact number in the bottom right of her card... being shown on screen.
Playmaker: Decode Talker
Ai: Dark Templar @Ignister
Revolver: Borreload Dragon
Soulburner: Salamangreat Heatleo
Blue Angel: Trickstar Holy Angel
Blue Maiden: Marincess Marbled Rock
Zaizen: Tindangle Acute Cerberus
Ghost Girl: Altergeist Primebanshee
Blood Shepherd: Battledrone General
Go Onizuka: Gouki The Great Orge
Go Onizuka: Dinowrestler King T Wrextle
Earth: G Golem Invalid Dolmen
Windy: Stormridership Bahamut Bomber
Lightning: Armatos Legio Legatus Legionis
Robopi: Appliancer Laundry Dragon
Haru: Twin Hydradrive Knight
Bohman: Trident Hydradrive Lord
Specter: Sunavalon Drynanome
Any chance we could get a revival of the Character Profile series with some of the Vrains characters?? I think the only archetype that’s had a video done too was Trickstar.
13:41 link three? Damn I must be doing my math wrong ever since Trickstars came out
I really really hope you do a boss monsters series I would love to see that series and the different boss monsters throughout the different yugioh series.
So there is no chance for Sevens and Go Rush D aces?
7:46
How yusei feels about neos?😂
7:45 Yusei’s ace is Stardust Dragon, Jaden’s is Neos.
When will you do Syrus vs Makoto duel breakdown???
I always thought the reason Konami doesn't print a lot of the Archetypes in Vrains is that a lot of them wouldn't be that good/playable in the real world TCG (I think another UA-camr dissected each archetype, especially Hydradrives). If Konami were to print them they'd have to be really powerful and that risks another "Pre-Errata Firewall Dragon" situation.
JCD Godot ripped apart vrains horrible archetypes.
Vrains and Arc V are notorious for having the worst cards ever printed and many had to be buffed for the real game
Well technically speaking tgs still has Sevens and Go Rush to do ace monsters. So why isn’t he doing the last two shows?
i doubt firewall was meant to be his ace , just like how the "crow was dark signer" theory .
Tbh yusaku is the only protagonist that depression like has jaden in s4
I mean the way I see it with Yusaku's aces... It's like with Yusei (which coincidentally, he's his parallel) and his ace monsters:
Code Talker = Junk Warrior
Decode Talker = Stardust Dragon
Firewall Dragon = Shooting Star Dragon
Decode Talker's equal was Junk Warrior while Firewall Dragon's was Stardust Dragon. Code Talker doesn't fit since it has only 1300 ATK, if we consider tuners as lower forms, then he would be the match for Yusei Junk Synchron, however, Playmaker only used it once. Shooting Star Dragon and Quasar matches would be Darkfluid and Accesscode, though I am not sure which:
Darkfluid effect is way closer to Quasar overall power by the number of monsters in the GY/ used for it summons, and both negate effects while allowing multiple attacks; Accesscode allows many destrcutios as many Links you banished just as Shooting Star gains as many attacks as tuners excavated from the deck.
3:09 yeah no
My hot take is that if Firewall was ACTUALLY intended to be Yusaku's ace they NEVER would have banned it at ALL during Vrains' run, and a fundamental part of Firewall's design supports it not an Ace, it NOT being Dark Attribute the Attribute of Yusaku's Ignis INCLUDING all of Firewall's upgrades being Dark and his bosses of every other summoning mechanic
it was never Dark Magician, Firewall was Yusaku's BLS
Also looking at the 2 cards track records Firewall BARELY wins duels itself I think it's only ever won 2
And Sevens Road Magician has Konami doubling down on 2500 atk not being a requirement(as I'd like to see anyone argue in good faith that it isn't Yuga's ace), the same way people used to argue that the Rivals ace HAD to be a Dragon type because they were, up until they weren't with Reiji in Arc V it's common but it's NOT a rule
7:39 Decode Talker is the only card Yusaku has any real emotional connection to as he shows with both Extended (his connection to Kusanagi) and Accesscode(his connection to Ai)
15:52 no it's Marbled Rock her Link-3, Bubble Reef only gets used once and she effectively used a different Link-4 each time she dueled Marbled is constantly used
The TCG banlist was why firewall dragon was also banned in the show 😂
