    I'm happy to have found this series. It literally took me 4 days to finish this entire job. I only jad to replace the gaskets and Coils 4 & 7. It was my first job at my new Job..

    Great video, super helpful! I was able to rent the tools through Tony’s tool rental online. They saved me a ton of money and were very convenient!

    Plastic valve covers warp so get ready to do the plastic intake manifold too. Plastic still does not hold up in high heat areas . Fail BMW wait till you see cost to replace with new valve cover if needed $$$$ hopefully aftermarket available now.

    Hi. I replaced couple of this kind of valve cover before. I had to lowered the frame a little bit to be able to removed the valve cover out. Bmw valve cover always bend so you should replace it. Hey what about the new scanner Bosch ads 625. That scanner very good man. I was lucky guu bought it new from ebay 3500$. Somewhere else 5k. Bosch scanner cover wiring diagram up to 2016 , repair source and tsb ,service bulletin. I think in the market now have only 3 scannner come with wiring :bosch 625, otc evolve( bosch software) and matco maximus 3.0

      Dung Pham I really like Bosh scanners. Matco not so much. I have not use the evolve yet but seen few videos and seems to be good too!

    The prices for these cars used with high miles are reasonable. The cost of ownership is another story. This is my dream ride but I don't think I'd buy one without being able to DIY.

    Plastic shouldn't be in the engine compartment... people are buying these cars (and other luxury cars) when they are old & cheap and then complain about the repair costs. =)

    Can you make a video of how to replace oil pressure sensor on x5 48i 2009

    Im working on x5 3.0. I found it hard to believe i gotta drop the frame to swap.out the engine...do to my lack of space i was thinking. If i remove the converters and passenger engine mount bracket. Would that give me enough room to swing the engine to the right to pass the front dif to pull the engine upward

    At 200k km my x5 is still running strong . I only wish that these had a more impressive aftermarket community.

      How’s it running?? Really want to buy one but reading a lot of bad reviews :/

    • @draindroid9980
      @draindroid9980 3 роки тому

      @@kiy647 so basically it’s a hit or miss when buying them. If they took care of it and changed the oil every 5000km. You should be fine. The seals may still be ruined, usually it isn’t that much of a problem. Here’s how u tell if your seals are bad > idle the vehicle for 20 mins and then rev the engine, if it smokes it means the seals are bad. Also shop fees are expensive because of labour. So try and do the work yourself. There are ways to possibly fix the seals yourself without paying the 4000$ you can use seal conditioner but don’t just buy one you gotta buy 8 bottles and slowly add over time. I haven’t done this because seal conditioner is like 150$ per bottle.
      They are not crazy fast but it matched the speed of my friends 2019 Subaru wrx.

    Awesome videos - VERY HELPFUL! We’re currently replacing the valve cover gaskets, upper timing cover gaskets, and spark plugs too, cause why not. When you removed the intake manifold, did you have to replace the intake manifold gasket also? Or was that reusable? Also, the spark plug cylinders, were those replaced or reused?
    Thanks - you’ve been a tremendous help already. Subscribed, followed, shared. You’re the man.

    • @MaicSalazarDiagnostics

      Thank you.
      The intake gasket was replaced and so the spark plugs tubes. Too big of a job to take that chance.

    • @bobo2six

      @@MaicSalazarDiagnostics awesome. I have intake manifold gasket and vacuum pump coming tomorrow. Valve covers and upper timing case covers are off - almost back to assembly. Was able to get valve covers off without effecting the spark plug cylinders. I suspect that’s due to total mileage versus what you were working on.
      Can’t tell you how helpful this video series really was. Thank you very much for your insight and expertise.

      Do you have any videos on replacing the alternator mounting bracket/oil thermostat gasket on a 2010 BMW X5 4.8L e70 with the n62 motor? I have a stubby T45 for a 1/4” ratchet but it’s still too big to get on the bolt harnessing the oil cooling line harness. Any recommendations?

    Oh yea do a smoke test and that water coolant tube that runs from front to rear occluded but starts leaking ? Pull motor

    Hello! As a mechanic, do you recommend this motor in this Bmw version? I am thinking about such a unit from the USA but in Poland it's hard to get any information about this engine. I know that v8 engines like to lose oil on all sides but won't the engine seal lead me to a hole in the budget :-) Best wishes Luka

    • @MaicSalazarDiagnostics
      @MaicSalazarDiagnostics  4 роки тому +1

      Łukasz Ostałowski not this version! It has a lot of issues with bad injectors, Valve seals, alternator too small to keep up with demand from cooling after car has shuts off to cool turbos that end up cooking the oil! So not this one!!

      @@MaicSalazarDiagnostics Oh. So, there is nothing to load in these bikes the more that I have no one overwhelmed in the subject of BMW v8 and even more so in newer models. Approx. Thanks for the quick reply. I will probably look for V6 :-)

      Well if you get a low mileage it is probably not as bad. I try to steer my costumers on getting a car with less than 50k miles so they can get the premium extended warranty! If you don't do that you will hate this cars or just get new!!

    Euro trash we call these oil leaking cars in Australia replace the engine with a straight 6 Ford BARRA VVT engine and all your oil leaks will go away as if by magic Ford mated these engines to the 6 speed manual and Automatic ZF transmissions so a natural for a complete engine trans swap 195 kw 391 nm non turbo 310 kw 565 nm for turbo versions easy to tickle to 600kw plus the downside not readily available in the US. AU and NZ market only but cheap now to buy and find a cheap way to import. These will run a million km plus I have one non turbo in my 2003 Ford Fairmont 850,000 km not a drop of oil leaking anywhere and still get 7.2 litres per 100km on the motorway. So your guys plan should be remove 4.8 V8 BMW engine fit Ford BARRA engine and or transmission fill BMW engine with concrete and immediately use as boat mooring block it would be much cheaper than fixing it and you would have peace of mind a win win win win scenario - YES!
