  • in this video I will show you how to remove and install the valve cover including the valve cover gasket for your BMW X5 e70 this is 2006 through 2013 BMW X5 with n52 engine xdrive 30i. typically what happens is there will be a loud whining or screeching noise at idle and when you take off the Whistling noise will disappear but as soon as he come back to idle it will get really loud again and then if you remove the oil cap the noise will disappear but usually the engine will skip. but you can tell if there's like a hard suction vacuum trying to pull your oil cap down when you take your oil cap off
oh and this is the video I watched for more details...

I know this vid is a bit old but my car was whining and I replaced just the pcv cap and that did fix the issue. The cap is like 15 bucks. Unrelated to that my valve cover is leaking so now I'm replacing the whole thing anyway lol. Thanks for the vid!

Thanks for your video! I just did it and it’s f$@& nightmare to get it out and back in!!! I broke a piece of the vacuum channel which I glued back in with weld.

Mine has a slight leak from the same place as well. I'm hesitant to add "Lucas Oil Engine Oil Stop Leak" to it.

I did same job about 3 months ago and one of the part always left me with the questions.
The part is a kind of vacuum tube sticking out on top of round part on valve cover. I left open because I found like that before I remove the old one. On your video, I saw open like mine before you installed on the floor and after you installed something was connected like dummy plug. Can you tell me what's that? Tube that comes from somewhere from engine or just plug. Your original tube was broken on your video.

I have a coolant leak right on that hose where you have your hand on 5:28, it appears the material is coming off that connects the hose, do you think that is a head gasket or do you know the specific hose of where your hand is at 5:28?

Holy shit that was the most in efficient use of the English language I’ve ever heard and seen in my life also if someone’s not willing to watch a 26 minute video maybe they shouldn’t be working on crucial component of your car I
