german cars are junk
This is the only channel i watch with my eyes glued to the screen for the whole video. Great work Sreten!
Me too, I always look out for his new content.... almost like a crack addict😂
Same here. Bloody headache. Iphone 12 mini.
Same. Absolutely!
Yep! Eyes glued to the screen, bottom glued to the sofa, barely breathing and blinking only if absolutely necessary...This says it all on how good is this YT channel...a delight to watch!
Me too bro always the happiness is always here
I don’t know if I didn’t just notice until this video but the video production and editing skills seem to have gone up a notch or two. Great work!
The video quality and editing were always top notch. I've watched and rewatched all of Sreten's videos several times and literally all of them are pure quality content.
Indeed!
He changed cameras, a while back.
They were always great.
Best channel on UA-cam!
I've been following Mr Straten's videos for a long time now. And I am 100% sure that there is no car channel on UA-cam with the quality of content that he has.
Long live this channel
Check out Mighty Car mods!
*Sreten
Obviously that's very subjective lol, he's entertaining I must admit..
Depends what you're into though, whether it's just parts fitting, fitting stock parts to stock cars or fabrication, modification, or just pure entertainment or restoration, there's plenty out there though.
Another good but a little different channel is Greasy Fingers, restores Porsches and others, does metal fab etc…very detailed.
@@L4ftyOne thks i will!

Honestly there can’t be a better automotive channel on the UA-cam. So many channels start out great and then go with content and extra people that very truly is not funny. Love your humour and your get down to business style.
Right. I think legit street cars has gone downhill recently. Sreten has found a niche and he's killing it.
@@matmul4850 EXACTLY. I used to be smarter and entertained after one of his videos. Now it’s a repeat of not funny jokes and erratic yelling
There are only about 8(?) auto channels on all of YT I'm subscribed to for this very reason. Most of the content on YT, the "automotive passion" begins and ends with attempting to generate clicks, and it shows. I don't care about watching some millionaire flex his 2023 special edition exotic whatever that he'll drive twice (for content!) and flip in 9 months. I don't care about some random car's "first wash in 37 years!!!" and I don't care about some idiot trying to limp a piece of junk 5,000 miles home. The minute someone tells me to "smash that like button," I'm out.
On the other hand, I will support channels like M539, 19Bozzy92, Restore It, RRC Restoration, Noriyaro, Tyrrell's Classic Workshop, etc. as much as I can because the content is based on legitimate passion, each video is meaningful, and the subject matter is educational/enlightening/legitimately interesting. No hype, no BS, no fake drama, no filler, no clickbait.
@@daedalus_20v Soo true, Dedalus, so true.
Salvage Rebuilds UK also does a really good job in execution and explaining! Right from their very first videos.
And not to forget Bad obsession Motorsport's Project Binky which is just beyond everything!

Lovely, did this job many times on Volvo 5 cylinder engines. Used the same kind of toolset you used and compressed air. Works flawlessly. My tool was based on a lever kind of system though, the screw down system you're using looks very nice! Good job.
bad valve stem seals in volvo 5 cylinders are a common thing

That's how you set apart the average mechanic from a great one that loves what he is doing, it's the little things than combine in the end and truly make a difference. That's i watch your content Sreten.
I have said this before on the channel, yet here I am again - your content does not fail to make my day better. Keep up the SUPERB work!
These videos are great!! I have decided not to be intimidated and do the valve adjustment and Vanos service on my S54 M3. Already did the oil pan gasket and LOTS of other work so no reason not to do everything myself even though the garage is barely larger than the size of the car hahha.
Just take your time and use proper tools. It might take a while, but it's not rocket science after all.
Maybe you can find a service manual online also.
Everybody talks about upgrading ECUs and turbos, but this is the stuff I love to see; upgraded valve stem seals and thermostat. I don't know why, I just find it so amazing that users noticed all of this stuff and thought of making it better than the factory did. Love your work, man!
What a shame BMW uses cheap parts for a popular brand they sell
Probably the only thing that I find watchable these days on TV and internet. Thank you for this content
The technical skills of this guy are simply incredible but I especially appreciate the fact that he cares a lot about the cleaning of every part that he disassembles and reassembles. Keep it up.
It's Friday, I have a nice bottle of wine and my meal is just done... then I find this has been posted.
PERFECTION
every video is like therapy no anoying music or anything just clean car work 🙂
Sreten deserves all the follows and views- dude is funny, thorough and his content has only improved. My whole fam watches and promotes channel. It's an absolute must for anyone who loves cars, but especially for those that love BMW
Thank you!
watched your videos for so long that i finally joined your patreon.
You have become a really good engine mechanic. I remember your reticence rebuilding the Alpina, but you pushed on and developed a whole new level of skills. Great Job!!!

Awesome work Sreten, its a pleasure watching your videos
Excellent. you made it look so clear and stright forward.
now it's time for me to try copy what you did and then spend 3 days crying and wondering what i've just done wrong.
Its truly fascinating what a difference it can make when you actually care about your job/when you actually care about the car youre working on. Love your videos and love every second of you working on them. Keep going man!
This is by far my most favorite UA-cam channel. I Just love the technical attention to detail! Keep it up my friend, you got a fan for life!
Yea I think that's what sets him apart from other automotive channels, his attention to detail is amazing, almost OCD levels. I love it.
Ooooh, don't even have to stay up late! Awesome timing and beautiful project too, hope the bookworm girlfriend will love driving it! :)
"Nails and timing chain guide" made me laugh like an idiot in my hotel lobby, thanks Sreten, you re the man 🤜🤛

This man is a master class engineer. Truly a professor of this mechanical anatomy.
I can easily watch hours of this. Amazing work my friend
Exactly what what I did when I found his channel late in 2020. "okay one more, it's not that late...it's not that late" (uses t.v. remote to stir coffee)
You make great BMW content. Till just 5-6 year ago it was my favorite brand as well, but not anymore. I salute you having so much patience with these cars. At least you will always have some content to have... You are doing a great job putting these cars back to the road. Puno pozdrava od Novosađana😁
You sir deserve a medal of bravery for doing that job with the engine inside the vehicle. Well done
This is the only channel where I click Like on the videos before I watch them. Amazing stuff
I'm going to adopt the "on top of the engine method" you used to assemble the engine, seems quite unique 😆
I love when he say : if sleeves not going to get out easy or the crankshaft is rotating when the engine should be blocked:
don't worry stop everything and start panic.. !
Beautiful work my man! Always a pleasure to watch🍻
Nice to see someone with sense for details. Great job
I was the guy behind at the red light a couple of days ago. As soon as the guy hit the gas, a shit ton of smoke came out of his X5, more than in your video.
That job is even more involved than what I imagined. Great job! Your confidence has evolved with all your projects.
I check UA-cam everyday to see if you've posted something new. Your videos are inspirational, informative, and entertaining, all at the same time! Love your videos
You are the Bob Ross of auto repair. Thank you.
I own zero BMWs but love your channel with all my heart. Been needing to do valve seals on my mx5 (which is 100x easier that this) and youve given me the motivation to order tools, parts & get started! Thanks for another great video!
The camera work/editing is top notch this episode. You have a God's touch when working with all types of bmws. I'm kind of hoping for fun when you have extra time, that you may work a bmw motorcycle. I'm really interested to see how you would tackle one of those.
I am Mexican I discovered this channel like a year ago and I watch every episode since then, it’s very entertaining and fun watching you fixing all this cars, it’s funny wen you speak Spanish I love it keep going, I never miss one of your videos man,👍👍

In my opinion you are the one who should make instructables for bmw in house mechanics. Not only subject matter expert but also ingenious and out-of-the- thinking. Additionally you have great video editing skills. That's my opinion. Thanks for the video!
Best birthday present for Sreten: very strong magnet on a long bendable stick. :) (best present for all that do stuff with engines and drop tools, bolts etc, even if most are not as good as Sreten)
Streten absolutely smashing it as usual!! Keep it up my guy!
Great camera angles, massive upgrade!
So much love for the 4.8i! It was a lot of work but you are now so skilled you made it look easy. Beautiful to watch and a great tutorial!!
Exactly what I needed! Passed a test for school, ordered food and this video pops up :D
For future reference, there's a service function in ISTA and most scan tools (Autel/Autologic/etc) to set the Valvetronic actuators to a "removal position." It's not absolutely necessary, but it will keep the actuators from snapping out like that and can prevent any potential damage- I have seen damaged Valvetronic actuators from improper removal.
Automehaničar sam i mogu ti samo reći svaka čast, svaki video nešto novo naučim. Pravi si profesionalac :)
My experience w this engine:
Oil leaks (valve, timing, alternator bracket)
Valve stem seals (not every time but probably every one eventually)
Tranny solenoids and the other seals inside
Valeo alternator will need replacement
Expansion tank hose between heads
Definitely other stuff.
Chirping tensioner
Water pump and cooling pipe leaks
Periodic intake manifold failures
Water flange in back of engine (transmission out)
Hopefully Sreten got it cheap. This is alpina part 2. His girlfriend is going to be calling when its shit the bed on the roadside.
To minimize that call I'd change the expansion tank hose, alternator and upper radiator hose at a minimum
This video is the one I was waiting for because I have the same problem on my e61 550i. Now I am pretty sure that I don’t wanna do that but I have to. That massive clouds of a blue smoke when I am leaving a crossroad are lightly upsetting😂 Nice job man👍
Tell me about it lol. My n63 550 smokes occasionally
As a fellow N63 owner I recommend, getting 2 bottles of “Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver”. I tried to put the link, but it deleted my comment…so just get it from Amazon or eBay. Should be 2 for $20-$25
Mine use to occasionally smoke also, until I used that. It rejuvenates the valve stem seals & any other rubber in the engine. $25 versus $3k for the valve stem seal job lol
You’re welcome guys 🙂
Great fun as usual. Glad Mutsi approves... Got the tools, now I gotta find an X5...
Check the shoulder on the freeway - J/K
Your attention to detail is crazy. Can’t wait to see this fully working!
I don't even have a E70 but love the X5 with V8s, so much that I saw the whole series of this project. Thumbs up man!
Loved the video as always, we feel that you prefer to work on engines than on the aesthetics lol
It’s incredible how complex an engine can be
BMW engineers have perfected engine complexity.
@@Leonardo555ZZZ Every engine from the last 5-10 years is really complicated, as more parts for better fuel economy, performance and exhaust gas cleaning are added
@@emrefifty5281 Sure , but these cars are 15 years old , and I doubt you can find any other makes which are more complicated and require more components to be removed in order to perform repairs and maintenance than BMW's.
@@Leonardo555ZZZ I mean, the other german manufacturers’ engines probably had very complex engines too at that time, luxury cars always have many sensors and electronics in there.
@@BorisG13 Yeah , could well be ,,I don't know too much about Audi , VW ,, but Mercedes engines from the same time seem to be much easier to work on than BMW in my opinion.

It's a good day, there's a new video from Sreten. Best car channel on UA-cam!
this is so relaxing to watch, mad respect for taking the effort to put the camera's in all the right angles!
Your video's are so satisfying to watch. No time wasted fully videoing repetitive operations means maximum value. Looking forward to hearing that engine purr.
BMW really ought to be paying Sreten very handsomely for providing these superb training videos for their dealership mechanics.
On other videos from other UA-camrs usually I'm skipping forward, on M539 Restorations beside no skipping forward every time I blink I'm going backwards.😁😁😁
Needs more rattle gun xD
Nice to see someone who operates hand tools with care, rather than a rattle gun :-)
Amazing work and patience, also impressed by how Mr Sreten seems so well organized, always step by step in good order
Most times I have no clew what I am looking at, especially when it’s about engines. But I watch the new video’s all the way till the end. Just because I really like the almost obsessive way of making your BMW’s absolutely spot on again, the way you comment the video’s, and your “dry humor” as we say it in the Netherlands. Keep up the good work man, fantastic!
"Where's my stick man?" 🤣
Love you Streten.

It's amazing how your videos can glue me to the chair, i don't even remember if i had blink while i was watching.
So much stuff under that bonnet. Makes me glad I have an EV. It’s so much simpler and easier to work on.
Absolutely the best way to do this job. Short cuts never end up well in the BMW realm.

One of the best channel about cars and engine repair. I've been watching him since project Bilbao and I can say this man put a lot of effort and improved the quality of his videos a 110%. By far, one of my favorite youtubers. Muy excelente mi amigo.
I'm marking this job up as one I will never do...ever. Changed the valve cover gaskets last winter and vowed never to go that far again. Wound up having the camshaft sensor concentric break and having to replace that as well, so it was a $750 gasket change.
I'am very excited to your work on every single project. Loved it!
