Thanks for a great explanation champion, I'm not a painters arsehole but your video has given me the confidence to have a crack at a couple of my toolboxes. Legend cheers 🍻
Thanks Mate.. I’m definitely no painter either but sometimes the best way to learn is by doing.. There is a comment below by MEGAJD which helped me a lot.. Spray the corners and tight spots first..
Nice that you are sharing your ideas, bit too much "fan" on your gun for my mind. Also do all your edges, corners, spray into any cavities 1st, then blow over the main part. Not sure I explained that well, but do all the fiddely bits, then a cover coat that evens out the overall aspect. 100% right on how to get a good hammered finish. The great advantage is it will hide any imperfections in the job, prep, or even the paintwork :) Nice to see a local resto guy.
Love the rebuild and the detail in your build. I'm restoring a 1960s Australian GMF grinder and pedestal. The colour I need is near identical to your the Scott Bonnar hammer tone green. I've located the correct PPG Selemix hammer tone binder but the PPG outlet need a code. Was your mix made to colour match a sample and if so could you let me know who made up your mix. Ive been hunting for the correct paint for months with no luck. Galmet used to produce Jade Green Hammer tone (which was near perfect) but has been discontinued for years. Hoping you can help! Thanks Paul
Hey Paul.. If you watch the video around the 2.20 mark I address this question (I get asked what colour it is a lot) But long story short I dont know what code it is. Cheers
I asked the guy at the paint shop and he told me not to thin the paint. I think the binder for hammertone paint is thin enough on its own. Its not thick like paint that you would paint on the walls of your house.

That’s some good tips, I’ll give them a go next time I’m spraying.. The more a spray the better I get but definitely no pro..
Very useful advice for a beginner, I was also told to do the edges & twice as thick for durability, they're more likely to be chipped
Really well put together videos mate. Thanks for your efforts.
Thanks for the video, great info 👍 I eventually want to paint my rests, very interested in paint prep and spray set up, there is so much to learn
The GOAT! Came through really good!
GOAT! Haha, I don’t think so..
Thanks for the paint colour information ,i've spent hours googling paint colours to no avail .my mower has a kirby engine also so I'm all set now.
I also use Chevy Orange on the old Briggs and Stratton engines..
Good video mate I look forward to the next.Maybe try a clear coat on the reel bearing housings.👏👍
🤔 that’s not a bad idea.. Do you think it will stop them tarnishing?
@@SBRenos yes it will keep the natural colour of the alloy. Two coats of 2K clear. Harts at Geebung is the place to get it.👍
Love it.... thanks for sharing.

Disregard that comment, I scrolled down and found my answer. Thanks for the video
Just wondering what psi used from air compressor.
It was around 25PSI (while holding the trigger in)
