    Hi, Nice video! When you move the height bar to the adjustable side and there is a gap, how do you know that it is not the front roller that is out! As that has been a problem on some machines. Thanks.

      This is an upgraded front roller which has a bearing installed in each end, accompanied by a new front roller shaft and bracket. This ensures the front roller is true.

    Hello i have an old suffolk swift push mower. I am still confused, does back lapping also sharpen the bedknife or does this only sharpen the cylinder.

    • @SBRenos
      @SBRenos Місяць тому

      It will do a bit on both.. Think of backlapping as liquid sandpaper being squished between the cylinder and bedknife which results in sharpening.

    Hey mate, I’ve been build engines for a long time now and all I can say that will make your life easier and reduce the risk of damaging the gears, bearings and the collar. Throw the bearings and the collars in the freezer for a while to temporally shrink the components to help them slide in easier. You can also but the gears in the oven for a few minutes at like 80 degrees Celsius to avoid changing the tempering of the steel it just needs to be warm to the touch NOT HOT and this will temporarily expand the gears. So then the bearings (straight from the freezer) will just drop in without needing to hit them too much, if at all. Then let that settle to room temperature. Rinse and repeat with the collar to the bearing and any other press fit components. Other than that, loving the videos mate!

    Great vids. Question: Re the height adjuster - How tight should the small nut on the inside of the frame be that holds the height adjuster in place? Should this be spanner tight, and then loosened each time you adjust cut height and then re-tightened, or do you leave it hand tight so you can adjust height at any time? Hope this make sense

    • @SBRenos

  • @matthewsherlock296
    @matthewsherlock296 Рік тому

    Thanks for the video. 2 questions: 1. Is the front roller guaranteed to be perfectly parallel/aligned with the bedknife? This technique is assuming that it is because the height of cut bar is using it as a reference. 2. Can you PLEASE do a video showing how to do this when the engine is one? I am getting a very uneven cut and think that this is what I need to do, but would love some guidance. Thanks

    • @SBRenos
      @SBRenos Рік тому

      The sole plate is a fixed item (doesn’t move)and so is the front roller (it moves up and down but not forwards or backwards) Basically when the frame of the mower is built the bolt holes are in the exact same location on both sides of the frame, this automatically guarantees the front roller to be aligned with the sole plate.. If you have any play in your front roller (e.g worn front roller shaft or end caps) you will never be able to align it accurately and will need to fix the play/movement first. I hope that makes sense :-)
