Damn she is good, very impressed by your world centered attitude than euro centered or US centered attitudes out there. Breaking cultural condition in itself is a big thing, on top of it about the music!!
Music knows no boundary..here is the living example!!

That too with mono track at best. I do believe the harmonies and instrumentation were recorded first and then SPB did his magic as this was the preferred mode of recording for Ilayaraja before the advent of multi track recording and digital systems.

I always found the interludes blissful but would love to see someone explain about those..especially the second interlude.. please consider this request and do it when you have ample time

Lidia, thank you for the analyzing one of the popular songs of Ilaya Raja. As you know, the Indian cine music composers are driven by the commercialization of the the film and the speed of production. They not only have to please the audiance but also need to please the producers - all in a very short time. Therefore, they tend to borrow (copy) from other cultures such as Spanish, Western (classical/jazz/pop) etc. Basically, they do not have any originality like you see in Western Classical Music. There is no equal to the Indian Classical Music & Western Classical Music. The cine music is simply for entertainment - bassically. I wouldnt put lot of weight into analyzing it. But, you are an amazing talent which I admire!

Respected Maam, the Classical part after the Spanish influence , the flute ornamentation is undoubtedly a Indian traditional classical piece . It synchronizes with Raga Amtithavarshini - The Raga of Rain . A pentatonic scale in Karnatic music, without the notes D and A . It is believed to bring showers of rain with scholarly rendering .

Thanks for taking my request! Loved the video! You are right - the song (like countless other Raja songs) is packed with so many styles and ideas. I also love how almost all phrases in the song follow the same pa-pa-pa-pa-paaaa pattern of the original motif.

Oh Vasantha Raaja from the film Neengal Kettavai 1985.
Tuned in Raga Srothaswani. A rare raga not often sung or played in concerts or in film music. Only Raaja has used it few films.
It has both Carnatic and Western music combination. You'll enjoy it.
    Srothaswani means river.

And please watch and react "Eriyile Elanthaimaram " song composed by Ilayaraja. I believe it is one of the finest composition by The Maestro. It is one of the best fusion type song from Ilayaraja.
Unlike many other popular songs, this one is highly underrated song and unnoticed even by hardcore Ilayaraja fans.
    Continue the good work.
