  • In this video in the Lockdown Learning series, I take a look at how you can import audio samples into the Loop Browser, so you can import them in the same way as the included content with Cubase. This is a little laborious, and automatic detection of tempo is nowhere near as good as Ableton live, alas. Don't blame me, I don't write this stuff! Just trying to show you how to do it!
This series is my tiny attempt to get people doing something productive while being in lockdown at home - learning how to create music using Steinberg's Cubase Elements, which has a 60-day free trial available as part of the #StayHome initiative:
    new.steinberg.net/stayhome/
FREE PDF chapter to get you up and running: musictechtuition.com/wp-conten...
If you feel this series has been useful to you (and you can do so), please support me by purchasing the full version of my book:
    tinyurl.com/cubasebookamazon
As with many other freelancers around the world, I have no work on my books for the next few months, so every purchase will be appreciated - even though there is currently a long delivery delay (understandably) on Amazon.
    Thanks!

Thanks for this helpful series of lessons. Double-clicking on a loop sample on a PC doesn't appear to permit editing of the loop's meta-data :-(

I solved the problem. Allow Editing in Result List has to be checked in MediaBay settings (leftmost cog on the menu bar. Off by default)

Thanks for these tips. As a long-standing Cubase Pro owner and amateur user, my conclusion so far, which this video did not change, is that the free Loopmaster software does a much better job and offers better alternatives than Cubase for third party loops. Have you checked it out? (Plus, you can regularly download more free samples if, like me, you’re not interested in buying yet more!)
