In a lot of the comparisons, I feel like the action 4 image looks better straight out of camera
I own both and must say the Action 4's image looks more natural and just overall nicer! I don't think the features are "leaps and bounds" enough to upgrade for now until more firmware upgrades come through for the Action 5 + the extra rugged body of the 5 is ugly in my opinion looks like a bear chewed and spat it out again! The design of the 4 is nicer. What are you currently doing your videos with Anh Phuc?

Can you do "burst mode" for short high speed filming 4k 240fps?
I really like the OA4 but the picture quality just wasnt on part with the GP at the time. Also, Linear mode still had too much warping for my taste. I hope the comparison video with the gopro 13 includes a good linear comparison.
Great video as usual. The better low light performance alone has won me over. Better battery life is also a huge bonus. I'll definitely be upgrading from my Action 4 and getting this camera at some point! Go pro is really going to have to step up their game now if they want to stay in it!
Some great new features. Screens are bigger and oled, internal memory, longer battery life, two mic connections, and tracking feature.

that battery life improvement is insane. probably the biggest feature to me. I'm not a fan of the new HDR style rendering though
Super excited about many features, but the action 4 5:13 image looks better to me. It brightens her face without blowing out the highlights. Just looks much more pleasing.
A filter thread that doubles up as a wide lens hood, underneath the lens bumper ring, would be nice and not require any internal soft or hard ware.
Can't wait to get mine, only hope it will be totally worth the upgrade

Really great review, appreciate the honesty. I'm sure it's hard to remove the bias when they send you the camera for free but think you did a solid job.
@@Life_of_John safe to say she got it for free, which is fine. It only went on sale a few hours ago and her video is live..... I'm sure she's got dozens of action cameras so getting one for free isn't really going to WOW her into lying about her review and potentially hurt her reputation with her subscribers

@@Life_of_John Dji and GOPRO Def. blacklist people who bash them. I've seen them conveniently "stop" sending cameras to people who go hard on the paint when pointing out flaws or drawbacks

Thank you so much for this, I changed from GoPro to DJI about a year ago due to the constant unreliability of the GoPro and its the best thing I ever did. This looks good and I was really interested how is stacked up against the new GoPro 13. The new features are exciting and better than I expected. Thank you for sharing.
I changed the GoPro 11 Osmo 4 and I am very satisfied. I have two OA 4 now.

I was debating keeting the 4 but the much better battery, internal storage, dual dji mic 2 is enough to return the 4 for the 5

Do you have a video on how to produce good audio with Dji mic? My audio from it never sounds as clear as yours and we use the same thing. I would love to watch if you already made a video for that.
In all the shots the 4 looks a lot brighter than the 5, but the 5 has better colors. It also looks a tad more cropped in on the 5 in normal mode

I like the video quality of the new sensor and processing. Does it look to be on par with the Osmo Pocket 4 at 4k 30 or 60?
I wish dji gives me option to disable the display when recording. I sometimes don't want the screen to be on. I like that tap to open the screen
They sent you the camera pre release so they are kind of paying you. FYI, the action 4 still looks better in low light. Low light enhancement on the action 4 is just amazing....regular video looks better on the action 4 too....Buy the action 4...
When all the Vloggers say that the video isn’t sponsored but they company did send the camera over for review, they fail to realize that we as consumers know if the video creator is to harsh with the criticism of the camera then the company won’t send them more cameras in the future. So in reality, the company does have some say on what is said. That is why you won’t hear much criticism until the next gen cameras are about to drop…
What do you expect then? Go watch those long term reviews then, why barking here?

The upgrades the hero 13 black got and seeing this new Action 5 pro finally made me decide that I no longer want to continue with GoPro. I will be selling all of my GoPro stuff and switching exclusively to DJI.
They could use internal storage for the default location for higher FPS slow motion. Makes sense; they might be able to pump those numbers?

Does it allow Bluetooth connecting for none DJI wireless mics? Thanks for reviewing, pointing out the most notable features.
It works with DJI Mic 2 transmitters, but no wireless connection with the original DJI Mic (would need to use receiver with it).

Hello what’s the best memory card to use?
Im on holiday in China, visiting the dji flagship store to pick mine up in the morning, was able to pre order this afternoon. Price for adventure combo £352 GBP.
Couple of questions, is the form factor same size to fit ulanzi cages, will osmo 3/4 ND filters still fit ? Any new timelapse features like the gopro star mode

My main issue with DJI Action 4 was the connectivity to Android. Has this been addressed on the 5?

Just wait, next year they'll release the Osmo Action 5 Pro Plus Ultra Mega Edition with a slightly bigger battery and a new color, and all the reviewers will be like "OMG This is the best action camera ever! DJI has really outdone themselves this time!" Don't get me wrong, this camera looks pretty good, but this whole cycle of releasing a new product every year with minor improvements gets a little tiring.
I'll be sticking with my GoPro 11, still not enough from either brand to warrant an upgrade just yet.
I changed the GoPro 11 Osmo 4 and I am very satisfied.
Just started watching and I already like the colors on the new camera better. MIght finally be time to replace my GoPro 11. If only I could justify this purchase.

No GPS in the Action 5 - it's in the GP 13. Still no 5.3K 60P.

Thanks for the review. The footage looks much smoother and less artifact prone to me. But the skin tones look out of wack. Did you miss the exposure and fixed it in post, or is it really what comes out of the camera?
Footage is straight out of camera and unedited except for the D-Log M bit.

Does the camera recognize and use a wired external mic within 1 second now? Or does it take about 10 seconds like with 4? (as I have heard, I do not have either camera). As a motovlogger, that's a deal breaker for me.

I think the reason for the seemingly better low-light quality is the more elaborate image processing by the faster processor and not a better low-light behavior of the new sensor.
What bothers me is that it's a 4:3 sensor with only 40 MP - meaning that when pixel binning is used (for example, for better low-light quality), the resolution is no longer sufficient for a 4K 16:9 image and it would have to be upscaled.
If, on the other hand, the sensor works without pixel binning and the extra pixels are only used for stabilization and tracking, then this would have a significant impact on low-light capabilities of the sensor.
But since DJI speaks on its site of a pixel size of 2.4 µm, pixel binning must be used, otherwise it wouldn't be possible.
I'm a bit at a loss as to what to think of this and hope that more information will be available soon.

Maybe it’s me, but the Action 5’s output, even in night mode, seems VERY similar to my AcePro’s output. Is this camera really a step up in action cameras? I’m not so sure, as it seems to me the AcePro was already at this level of performance.
Well… This hits everything except for a smooth zoom button that I have been hoping GoPro would address for years now. Already use my pocket 3 most of the time… Time to change my gear away from GoPro

Super review! Lowlight looks awesome. Normal mode for me. I dislike how UA-cam playback handles HDR videos. I refuse to watch HDR videos even if from a creator that I enjoy following.

Looks Good - I like the Colour but seems over sharp some times, the two mic's input is cool and I love the New Tracker = A win I think, order mine soon ( just got the Action 4 + Accessories ) so will leave it for a month or two - Xmas is coming so .......
Not gonna lie, action 5 footage HDR looks like gopro footage, maybe they are always enabled in gopro, thus overheating issue

Worse skin tone compared with action 4 and low light is not better(looks very unnatural). I like just the subject tracking and the ability to add 2 mics. Definitely doesn't worth the PRO name. I hope they will come out with a better action camera. I am very happy with their pocket 3 camera. That one deserves the PRO name.

5 looks horrible... over processed, HDR bland look, unnatural.... that IS A BIG SHAME... plus what I keep reading - they dropped the bitrate on the recorded video? EVERYTHING with a marking PRO should go UP on that one spec... these guys went down.. F A I L in my book and sad about it!!! the batter life is a game changer, i'd switch from 4 to 5 only because of it.. but to ruin my image .. that is the only reason we buy these things... and if the look out of the camera is so dumbed down, soul less, overprocessed... damn you DJI guys
Both cameras look bad comparing to even a small Sony crop camera....
A Sony crop sensor camera would have a bigger sensor than either of these and thus better image quality…
