No really, I love the architecture, the beaches, the people, and the mix culture, the low crime(see movie Bon bini Holland), and just the magic of the ABC!!!! The high prices for food in the first video had me stressing! Now to see about cheaper accommodations for a single father and child that do not care about luxuries.

I just got back from Aruba last week, took the family down for a five day getaway. I think it was worth the trip, and is a unique place to visit. We rented off road vehicles and toured the entire eastern side of the island one day, including Arakok National Park. This is the rough, rocky, desert side of the island, which has some nice scenic areas with waves crashing on amazing rock formations as shown in this video. The west side of the island is where you find the beautiful beaches and resorts. The beaches and water are truly spectacular, and you often get some incredible sunsets, as well. People always ask if the wind is annoying, and I thought it would be before I went. However, trust me, you end up loving the breeze because it would otherwise be very hot, and the breeze makes it comfortable and pleasant. I usually sweat a good deal, but found that I didn't nearly as much in Aruba because of the breeze.
The tourist areas of Aruba are definitely expensive, but it was vacation and I don't sweat the expense when I'm on vacation as it's only for a few days. I'm there to enjoy it and I didn't have a bad meal the entire time I was there. Lots of incredible restaurants to choose from. The food, especially the seafood, was just amazing. The fish is out of this world.
That being said, the big grocery store in the Eagle Beach/Palm Beach area is Superfood. It's CRAZY expensive. You could easily spend several hundred dollars there if you were shopping for a whole week of groceries. Three slices of lunch meet were individually packaged and sold for around $6. A 2 liter bottle of soda was $7. You can go to other groceries where the locals shop and save a good deal of money. They will still be expensive compared to the US, but much cheaper than Superfood. However, you'll also find that Superfood has the brands and products that you want, while the local groceries sell mostly off brands and have much more limited selection. You basically have to decide what's more important to you, saving money or getting the products and brands that like and are used to.
I also recommend doing some snorkeling while in Aruba, whether you bring your own gear and just go off of a beach (I recommend Baby Beach or Malmok Beach), or do one of the snorkeling tours. There is a lot of sea life to observe.
Lastly, be sure to use lots of sunscreen. The breeze tricks you into thinking that you're not getting burned, but if you're not wearing sunscreen, or aren't reapplying it regularly, you are getting burned. The sun is very intense even though the breeze is keeping you cool. You don't want to ruin your vacation by becoming a lobster on your first day because you didn't apply enough sunscreen. Use a high SPF and reapply often.

Bon Dia! It s great to see a video about Aruba finally. Good Job! I believe you are the first travel vlogger visiting Aruba :) - it does deserve the introduction! It s the most beautiful and safest place I had ever lived in. Very small island , it is expensive definitely, if you are not from an expensive country. Perfect white sand beaches, perfect blue and clean water, happy people, no crime. It is really one happy (but expensive) island. I guess for this "downside" it WILL stay a happy island, "poor" people cannot afford it on a long run :) But for this too, it will never get too crowded nor filled with crimes. Perfect paradise. Generally, you would want to travel to the Caribbean Islands with people, whether it's your partner or friends.
If a local were to show you around, it would also be great, they would tell you about the history, take you to eat different types of food.
If you travel with people, you guys are more likely to look into different activities you can do in the island, maybe there is a festival going on, something you might not notice if you travel alone.
I guess you will continue the trip to the other Caribbean islands by yourself, in that case, i hope you invest in some tours, and dive a little bit more into the vibe of the Islands.
All these Islands have an amazing history.

Mahogany and walnut windows and doors and door frames, electrical power sockets and switches not sold in the USA, tiles, roof tiles, wood trim, etc. I saw all the houses in these videos and I MUST say, they are nice! Like Puerto Rico, only most are cleaner! With clay and wood roofs but concrete walls and floors. VERY interested in places to buy that stuff there. Also, can I get by without my own car like I can in Puerto Rico? And lastly, where can I stay for cheap(less than $40USD a night)? In Argentina I stayed in a cave like room with shared bathroom for $6USD a night. A bigger room for $12 a night. Heck I would do fine in a small 5ft x 8ft room with a window that opens to let air flow since it is NOT COLD, in ABC!

It's worth visiting if you don't mind the cost - it's pretty expensive. The weather is great and beaches and it's beautiful but expensive.
I was there once back on 1996 and still have pleasant memories. But if you are on a budget don't go, it will break you.

Hey Steve, thanks for watching. I'm not sure what you're asking about the video quality. I'm filming in 1080p at 60fps with the Gopro hypersmooth stabilization on. Are you saying there's some issue with how the video is coming through? Feel free to let me know what you mean in more detail. I want to know if there are any problems with the video quality.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos No issues at all. I was just wondering if you could try 2.7K 60 fps also with the hypersmooth. I think it would be refreshing for your channel, and for you, to do some collaborations and also consider doing some Q&A vids (they need not be live - just advertise it on FB, Insta or Twitter) and read out the questions on your phone. Yeah I follow him on Instagram and saw he's in the Caribbean as well. But he's on a different island and it isn't as easy to get around here as you would think. Flights aren't cheap to the other islands outside of this area of the Caribbean. And the timing isn't right, I'm on Curacao for the next few days and then going to Bonaire, and I think he has a short trip to one island for a week or so, Antigua I think? I know it sounds like you're close when someone is in the same general part of the world, but it isn't as easy to meet as it sounds. I was in Muscat, Oman the exact same night as Kara and Nate last year. We were emailing and trying to meet, but realized it wasn't going to work because we were on other sides of the city and it was too much trouble considering we both had flights to catch early the next morning.

Very good monologue you did in the car (where it was less windy). Yes, my experience in the Caribbean has been the same in every island I've visited - the picture postcard spots vs. the scruffy parts. The island with the biggest extremes in my experience is St. Lucia but even in the wealthier islands overall like the Virgin Islands (American & British) it's been true. When you panned the camera back inland at one point here on Aruba I thought it looked like Burning Man. Keepin' it real, it's what u do the best.

Aruba was a stop on my first ever cruise. I hadn't done any inquiry into the island as I had a picture in my mind of Caribbean islands. Aruba did not fit into this picture at all lol. We took a 3-4 hr island tour where we also went to the natural bridge. Our tour guide explained that there are a lot of sharks in these waters. In order to keep the beaches around the beach side resorts safer, the sharks are fed on the other side of the island twice a day with restaurant food waste and other things yummy to sharks. I will probably not make another trip to the island. Great vids Gabriel! I've been following you for 4+ yrs. I started watching your videos from Belize, Guatemala, central america prior to my vacation there in 2015. I am still here in Guatemala! This is the stupidest comment I've ever read. There is NO sharks around Aruba because of the warm waters, that tour guide was probably being sarcastic and making a joke. Aruba hasn't had in the past any records of shark attacks or whatsoever. On the north side is were most of the locals go for surfing, kite etc. and on the south side you can find the calm beaches. Maybe next time make some research before you leave a comment like that. Thanks!
