    I have LG's C2 42" TV as a monitor, and I even got used to the size. I actually tend to sit back now instead of being too close to the screen. The only thing I wish was different is upgrading from 120Hz to 240Hz, once I have a GPU strong enough to run a 4k monitor at 240 fps.

      Many people can't perceive the difference between 60 and 120 FPS, and even fewer can recognize the difference between 120 and 144 FPS, people simply can't grasp more with their senses, and there are enough scientific studies on this. I prefer to limit my 4080 to 116 FPS to save money on electricity and always have my graphics card in the gsync range. Another advantage is that the whole system doesn't get too hot because the pc isn't running at full power all the time, which in turn means that my hardware doesn't wear out so quickly and requires less maintenance.

    • @blueferrari397
      @blueferrari397 Місяць тому +1

      @@therealghost8978 I agree. Anything over 100 fps is unrecognizable by the human eye. If you think it is, it's just a placebo effect. I also run mine at a lower level of approx 100fps max. I also undervolt my 4080 gpu to save energy and heat. Works great and I wouldn't see any need to purchase anything over a 120Hz monitor, it's just marketing hype and BS you are paying for.

    • @therealghost8978
      @therealghost8978 Місяць тому

      Unfortunately, as you say, the marketing departments have done a great job of convincing people that it has a benefit, even though this has already been scientifically disproved. It's a shame that so many people believe it and don't question it before spending their hard-earned money on it!@@blueferrari397

    Got one a few months ago... it was a game changer coming from a 34inch 3440x1440 ultrawide VA panel. Pretty much still the same width but now with more vertical space to work with. And Oled for gaming... well, let's just say I wouldn't want to go back to LCD. But it's great for work as well (I don't do video editing mind you). I was thinking of a 48inch at first, but it would have cost me too much space on my desk and also the PPI would have been a bit too low for me. IIRC the PPI on the Flex is around 107, which is fine for me. I only sit about 75cm away from it (+/-2,5feet). Playing around with the curvature is fun at first, but now I leave it at 60%.
    HDR on this is very nice. Mind you I have not seen HDR on true 1000nits (or above) panels. LG panels (from around the CX to C2 era ) are usually around 700nits tops. Let's just say when I first experienced it on my LG CX tv that I was thoroughly impressed.
    The only problem I ran into with the Flex was with ARC to an older 5.1 AVR (PC>flex>AVR). Somehow I couldn't get 5.1 to work in windows. Something about supported codecs in the Flex was getting in the way. I found a workaround by connecting both devices directly to the GPU, instead of PC>Flex>AVR. Luckily windows (or the nvidia drivers/software) recognized the AVR as a second screen, so sending audio only to the AVR worked. I remember in years past that that also used to be a problem with Nvidia cards.
    I use dark mode in windows and a screensaver that kicks in pretty quick to try and avoid burn in. The auto dimming of the Flex has very rarely been an issue for me and pretty much never happens while gaming. But if you've never had Oled then be prepared for it. Some people can't stand it what so ever. It rarely bothers me, and when it pops it's evil head it's usually during spreadsheet work and stuff like that. A quick scroll up/down or switching tabs and the brightness returns to normal.
    Anyway... yes, it is still very pricey. The adjustable curve is nice, but not necesary at all. This size (42inch) is perfectly fine with a flat panel even for desk use I think. So if you want Oled and 42inch you might as well get the LG C2 for a lot less. If you have cash to burn, get this one. I think you will not be disappointed.
    Hope this helps anyone on the fence of getting one.

    • @blm7929
      @blm7929 5 місяців тому

      Thank for your review !
      I have a 34" UWQHD and I'm thinking of replacing it by a 42" TV. I plan to have a little more horizontal space (because of my actual screen is 2K, so with 4K I will have a little more pixels) but I don't know if I need all of this vertical space for work (developer) but I "need" it for games surely 😁
      I hesitate between a Philips OLED (I have 2 at home) just for the Ambilight (to replace my home made Ambilight which work the same), the LG C2/C3 because of the good reviews for this particular task but this LG flex really catches my eye because my current one is curved and I would have liked a curved one...
      The only thing that question me is the depth between the screen and the wall behind... This stand seems enormous!
      My desk is 80cm deep (which is above average) and my screen on its arm is 15cm from the wall and I think that's already a waste of space. But here, I feel like the screen is going to be glued to my nose... Can you tell me how far the panel is from the wall?
      On the other hand, the amp part doesn't reassure me. I'm currently using a Marantz amp with HDMI to get 5.1 on the PC...

    • @martheunen
      @martheunen 5 місяців тому

      @@blm7929 the back of the stand sticks out approximately 25cm from the back of the screen, and the foot of the stand sticks out about 5cm to the front of the screen.
      I also have a marantz sr7013 in my living room hooked up to a lg CX. No problems there with pcm (2.0 to 7.1) audio. I could hook up the Oled Flex to my marantz (and my pc to the Oled Flex) and see if I do or do not get 5.1 pcm audio that way. Then I'd know for sure if it's a 'problem' of the Oled Flex. So it could be that the flex only does pcm 2.0 (but does do all the dolby stuff by the way)... or it's a problem with my older AVR.
      Come to think of it, I hooked up my older AVR to the CX (and pc to CX) and also didn't get 5.1 pcm to work through ARC. But it's been a while so I'm not a 100% on that anymore...

    what i want to know is does the AI enhancer for picture quality on in pc. I bought the LG C3 and when i was watching some youtube, i realize the picture looke like shit when there was some motion. so i looked at the setting and everything for sharpness was turned off. it specifically said it was off when connected to a PC. Then in then peak brightness was only available for hdr in pc too. it was some bullshit of LG to do this to PC users. Also the tv flickered whether i had gsync on or off, the only way i could fix it was by turning gsyn off and on.

    For 2500, why does this NOT have the same mosaic PbP feature found in their other models that are about a quarter of the price?!? I have another 4K, 42" LG model right now that I would love to upgrade to OLED, but missing this is a deal breaker for me.
    Many people work from home even part time now. And having the ability to display 4 inputs at once, or two 3840x1080 PCs stacked has been a game changer for my WFH setup.

      @@096085 NP. I used to have three 22" 1080P screens at my desk in landscape. Or as my wife called it, the NASA command center. I replaced those with a LG 43" model (43UN700). This has the option of several picture by picture (PbP) or picture in picture (PiP) options. Including displaying four separate inputs in each corner at the same time. That's mosaic PbP.
      This is not a normal feature for TVs. The most you'll see is a basic PiP option or maybe a basic side by side PbP like what was shown here. But as large monitors are becoming normal, I'm looking for something with my current feature set, but in a OLED or QLED with a higher refresh than 60hz.
