is the video processor of this c4 better than that of the sony a90k? What advice do you recommend between the two? Is it possible that the Sony, even if older than two years, remains superior in the visual quality sector?or has this lg c4 surpassed it?
Brian please review the LG C4 48 inch version, year after year the 48 inch version gets ignored and often perceived to have the same brightness levels as the 42 inch, I feel it might get be quite close to 55 inch in terms of brightness.
@@DeniosG I don't think so, if that's the case the C3 42 inch would have been as bright as the 48 inch, yes the brightness boosting tech is for 55 and above, but I believe 48 is slightly brighter than 42 inch version.
@@DeniosG I have literally said the same about the brightness boosting tech lol. Brightness boosting tech only works from 55 inch and above, yes, but the 48 inch is comparatively slightly brighter than the 42 inch version despite not having a brightness boosting technology. We don't have a lot of data for the brightness tests of 48 inch versions but you can check Rthings for the C1's 48 inch version's brightness, compare that with C4's 42 inch version. 48 inch version of C1 is brighter than the 42 inch version of even the C4, so it makes more sense to assume that the 48 inch version of c4 is slightly brighter than the 42 inch version.
Wit the C3 and C1 sometimes i Ged a loud cracking sound out of my soundbar. It is not happening with my other TV. I am using a Samsung Sound bar. When y put sound to 0 the cracking sound wil be gone. This only happens with a LG TV. On windows 11 using a Asus strix RTX 4090 OC.
Brian, excellent coverage and information as always! I just hopped onto Best Buy. The C3 42” can be had at $899 while the C4 42” is at $1499. Is there $600 worth of image processing improvement? I really want this size for an OLED monitor and I’m fine with 4K 60hz for Cinematic RPG games.
Bro I'm more than likely getting the C4 but for that cost difference I'm getting the C3 no questions. In Australia it's about $300aud difference so I'm fine with it. But 600US nah

A great review of the 42inch C4 my brother. You are right about what you said about trusting LG when it comes to OLED and it's one of the many reasons why when it comes to OLED I only buy LG. That being said. This would make a great gaming monitor or hell even a tv for watching movies ect.
Tempted to buy it and run it as a 3840x1600 UltraWide for games and swap back to 4K for normal content / PC use. 144 Hz is a big deal, 24 Hz doesn't sound like much but it's 20% more than 120 Hz.
Nothing is even close the sony xr processor especially with reality creation feature on....but the lg tvs have much less input lag and higher refresh rate
@@drunkhusband6257 I guess you haven't seen a Philips TV yet. It's the only brand which can actually compete with Sony when it comes to processing and upscaling. I still prefer Sony. It's less aggressive and a bit more natural but Philips is almost on par with and even better with some things. I'd say LG is 3rd best while I find Samsung and Panasonic rather disappointing in anything below 4k.
Hey Brian does your panel have that green tint viewed at an angle? Saw a couple of videos saying that's a "thing" these C4 have. Viewing it at an angle there is a very visible green tint. Thanks for the video!
1. Is there an option to quickly (like 1 button away) to adjust simple brightness? Like SONY Bravia has option to adjust the brightness by 5 in range 0 - 50. I use this to quickly adjust the brightness when the automatic adjustment is not enough. 2. How long it takes after firing signal from remote to actually launch the TV? I remember that all TVs had like 10 or even to 20 seconds before displaying the input, while SONY got this literally under 2 seconds. (I was blown away how quick it is)
My LG nano85 got a couple of pixel lines on the right side of the screen. Thankfully my extended warranty at Best Buy was going to expire on Sept 12th, because even though they couldn't repair the tv (discontinued I guess) they refunded me the full amount, and that went to getting me a brand new 2024 LG C4 OLED, and holy cow, I cant believe I've been playing games without OLED for so long. Cannot recommend anything but an LG C4 or the higher model.
I like the Picture Wizard but it's annoying that it won't let you tweak it. Nor tell you what each picture does. I wish it added some more picture options to select and also allow you to tweak things. For my settings it always over sharpens and I want to get the clear and colorful option but I never know how to get that setting back
Great content Brian. These C series OLEDs are fantastic for what they cost. Wish we had more options for 42" OLED TV "monitors" but hey, at least the only option is a great one!
Brian! I'm torn. I have a 42C2 i use for work and gaming. I was thinking of upgrading to a 32" QD OLED monitor (one of the 2024 models). Then I started thinking of perhaps using a 55" Samsung QD OLED. Then I was thinking maybe that is too big. With this video, im thinking of swapping the 42C2 to a 42C4. What i like about the C series - 4 x hdmi 2.1 ports, glossy screen, dolby vision, apps built in. The QD Oled monitor has a bit higher peak brightness, better color luminance, higher refresh rate, a bit more comfortable screen size. The QD OLED tv would be the brightest, high color luminance, but I'd be about 3 feet away (if gaming, i could probably scoot back but while working, id be about 3-4 feet from the screen). Hmm. Help!
Honestly I love the 42 C4 but is It enough of an upgrade? I'd so no at the same size. The QD-OLED monitors are very cool but seldom match the peak brightness of the QD-OLED TV'S. 55" QD-OLED would be a great solution but might be too big . I go 48" C4. You get the upgrades and the C series signature you love but also a bit more size
Yeah I’m wondering that too. I absolutely love my LG C2 as a PC monitor but its one and only major downfall is the gsync/vrr flickering is really annoying
Hello, thanks for your extensive analysis Brian, I really liked it. I want to ask you all which television would you choose, this LG C4 or the Samsung S90D, both being 42" and with the same type of LG WOLED panel, as I read they have the same panel. I am undecided and I would like Brian to also analyze the Samsung S90D 42" from 2024 to compare the two because it analyzes them very well and now I ask you for help (Brian give us your opinion too) to help me decide between these two televisions that will go on sale in this year 2024. The use that I'm going to give it is for series, movies and PC and PS5 games. I await your answers, best regards.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY thank you for the response appreciate it sounds good to me. I’ll be checking out your G4 video for sure hope you and family have a Happy Easter 🐣
Hello Brian, so how is sdr game mode brightness in the C4 this year? A step up from the c3 i hope? I know the 42 model is dimmer than its bigger versions, but maybe you have seen gameplay or something on a bigger c4 display?
It's crap because it's still a WOLED old tech and old processer. Doesn't get nearly as bright as competitors in the same price point. C series are dead on arrival.
Have the c1 48” for my ps5 desk set up, been looking at the c3 42” bit waiting to see if there is a massive difference between the c3 and c4 if not I’ll go with the cheaper c3
Same boat, honestly upgrading that TV to anything but a g series is already dicey, I would at least wait for the c4 to drop in price so you get more of the cumulative improvements and the 144hz and not overpay at launch.
Would you pay £300 fpr the C3 or £600 for the C4? My C2 has damaged pixels and Richersounds will only offer a voucher. So unsure in which to get next for PC
Very excited for the G4 to come Monday! I was also potentially considering getting the C4 to replace a C9 that I had. Do you believe it will be a massive upgrade over the C9 or is it most likely not enough to make a difference and I should also go for a G4 to replace the C9 as well?
The c series has barely changed the last 5 years. You'll be getting a newer gen panel, which wasn't a big change. They mixed panels with the c1 and no one noticed. Of course the small changes every year add up. It'll be a little brighter, just enough to notice, but you won't be wow'ed The g4 gives you MLA which is something legitimately new. If it was my money I would be getting the G4 or I simply wouldn't bother upgrading. What you have is a still a great tv. Especially if you're just comparing it to the same tier from a few years ago.
I'm was waiting for the 32' QD Oled monitors, but this video made me look up this 42' realm. Here right now: C4 42' 1300€ / AW3225QF 1400€ (no stock) / PG32UCDM 1500€ (no stock) / C3 42' 800€ Appart from the 144hz vs 120hz, are there any major differences in this 42' C4 vs C3? Dont really care about the tv os since it'll be a monitor.
Please Help Me: I just installed this exact TV and only actions I’ve done so far is plug HDMI from new Mini Mac Pro and paired my HK speakers via BT and also plugged in the 3.5 jack as backup. I get some LG prompts asking for a code so it will default to I put it something but I can’t find any code waiting on screen or on any device and I’m stuck on this screen. Far as sound, i am hearing a random tick from the speakers when things are not making sound like a paused video or just on Home Screen as if someone is tinking with a cable. Should I remove the 3.5 jack and rely on BT for my HK sound sticks or use the 3.5 and not BT for the best audio experience possible? Do I need to shut off the TV speakers maybe as that might conflict or will that help with more stereo like sound?
How are things on OLED today with "Black crush"? This is critical for the monitor, otherwise the monitor would not be a monitor if it did not have higher quality standards than the TV. Why Sony abandoned the OLED matrix in their new bvm Hx310...
Not gonna lie (or suggest this to my wife for fear of my life lol), but I kinda want the 42 as a third monitor in my office. Would make my ASUS LCD’s look like trash in comparison though.
I’ve just bought this TV. It’s the first time I’ve opted for LG over Sony, but I just couldn’t justify getting the A90K with it being over two years old at this stage. I just hope the LG C4 impresses when it arrives. Really wished Sony would’ve come out with an A90K succcessor this year
It's not night and day. The C3 is still incredible. If you don't need 144hz or dolby Vision filmaker mode, then grab the C3. The c4 also has the professional tone mapping feature. There are these features and if you don't need them then c3
C4 is a little better (144hz is nice) but not worth almost twice the cost. When it comes down in price (when C5 launches) it'll be a steal. But with the C3 you won't be disappointed!
This beats it as the LG C4 has better processing and feature set including Dolby Vision. The Samsungs at the 42" size are not QD-OLEDs so they have absolutely no advantage. C4 easy choice my friend

is the video processor of this c4 better than that of the sony a90k? What advice do you recommend between the two? Is it possible that the Sony, even if older than two years, remains superior in the visual quality sector?or has this lg c4 surpassed it?
I love the texture LG used on the back of this panel. Nice & durable!
Me too!
What color is the back of it? Hard to tell. Is it black? Or gray?
Brian please review the LG C4 48 inch version, year after year the 48 inch version gets ignored and often perceived to have the same brightness levels as the 42 inch, I feel it might get be quite close to 55 inch in terms of brightness.
42-48 the same
@@DeniosG I don't think so, if that's the case the C3 42 inch would have been as bright as the 48 inch, yes the brightness boosting tech is for 55 and above, but I believe 48 is slightly brighter than 42 inch version.
@@suraj4020 test says that technology brightness booster works from 55 inch and higher
@@suraj4020 if you want to believe in this, ok. But all saying that the same
@@DeniosG I have literally said the same about the brightness boosting tech lol.
Should i change my 42c2 on 42c4? Rtx 4080 pc)
Just dropped my C1 so going to get one of these in the morning.
Ohhh baby am I happy. Just picked it up on Sunday and my Call Of Duty looks amazing on VIVID mode
Do you play on pc or Xbox/ps5?
@@rixiorx I play on PC so when I’m running the game off of this 42inTV I creat a small window on the desktop and play. The rest of the screen is UA-cam sports ect.
I may buy it for a bedroom TV 😎 THX for the breakdown
My pleasure! Thank you for watching
do these screens still look blueish on white images i couldn't like with my old a80l because it irritated me
A great review of the 42inch C4 my brother.
Let us know if LG is still locking peak brightness for SDR gaming please 😎
I will
Do we know what the clipping point is for a 10% window on the C4? 900 nits?
Does it upscale as good as the sony’s XR processor? Does it have that kind of 3d effect?
(I was blown away how quick it is)
Great Review!!!
Hi, do you notice any screen tears uncapped, and do you cap your frames 3 below the refresh rate?
My LG nano85 got a couple of pixel lines on the right side of the screen.
Thankfully my extended warranty at Best Buy was going to expire on Sept 12th, because even though they couldn't repair the tv (discontinued I guess) they refunded me the full amount, and that went to getting me a brand new 2024 LG C4 OLED, and holy cow, I cant believe I've been playing games without OLED for so long.
Cannot recommend anything but an LG C4 or the higher model.
Do you plug in an 120hz hdmi 2.1 in the gpu and connect with C4 and it can produce 144 hZ ? Or do you need a different specific cable ?
Would love to see a side by side 48 oled lg and samsung. Both woled panels so would be interesting.
C4 or S90C? In terms of brightness and motion interpolation
Hi ! How many more nits the C4 have (against C3 C2 C1 CX) ? Not against the G4. Thank you. Edit. : found myself. Around 200
Great video! For 70% gaming 30% movies would you choose G3 or C4? G4 is more than I want to spend on a tv
Excellent question! I would definitely go C4. It's more refined and the 144HZ gaming is excellent
Hi is this apot brighter than c3? As i want to buy one this year but not sure if go for c3 as its cheaper or this?
I like the Picture Wizard but it's annoying that it won't let you tweak it. Nor tell you what each picture does. I wish it added some more picture options to select and also allow you to tweak things. For my settings it always over sharpens and I want to get the clear and colorful option but I never know how to get that setting back
Great content Brian. These C series OLEDs are fantastic for what they cost. Wish we had more options for 42" OLED TV "monitors" but hey, at least the only option is a great one!
Thank you, my friend!
And good value for money compared to Sony. Premium price for Sony.
Are there any differences in picture quality between the 42" C4 & Samsung's 42" S90D 'WOLED'?
When will 42 & 48" QD-OLED's finally become a thing?
Total perfection. I need this!! And thank you Sir :)
Thank you for watching!
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Keep it up buddy. Long-time since I was here, but you still got it ;)
Brian!
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thank you so much brother! I appreciate the reply and suggestion! I never thought about the 48"!
@undone14 my pleasure my friend
is the vrr flickering still visible like on the models before?
Great video Brian I can’t wait to find out from you if you are going to prefer the C4 or G4 for gaming. I’m coming from a C1 looking to upgrade.
I can already tell you the g4 will beat jt. You'll see the G4 next week. I also have a c1, and I would upgrade . Thank you for watching
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY thank you for the response appreciate it sounds good to me. I’ll be checking out your G4 video for sure hope you and family have a Happy Easter 🐣
@falconclaw1253 my pleasure! Happy Easter, my friend
Backlit remote 2025 C5 please.
Have the c1 48” for my ps5 desk set up, been looking at the c3 42” bit waiting to see if there is a massive difference between the c3 and c4 if not I’ll go with the cheaper c3
Is there a big difference?
From what I understand, there isn't a big enough difference to justify the $400 price difference
Same boat, honestly upgrading that TV to anything but a g series is already dicey, I would at least wait for the c4 to drop in price so you get more of the cumulative improvements and the 144hz and not overpay at launch.
the DV PC for the c4 is what we want on the c3 please
Great review brian ❤
Thank you so much!!
Do you believe it will be a massive upgrade over the C9 or is it most likely not enough to make a difference and I should also go for a G4 to replace the C9 as well?
im in the same boat. got an 77c9. is an upgrade to 83c4 worth. or do i have to upgrade to an 83g4 to see a big difference?
The c series has barely changed the last 5 years. You'll be getting a newer gen panel, which wasn't a big change. They mixed panels with the c1 and no one noticed.
Of course the small changes every year add up. It'll be a little brighter, just enough to notice, but you won't be wow'ed
The g4 gives you MLA which is something legitimately new.
Here right now: C4 42' 1300€ / AW3225QF 1400€ (no stock) / PG32UCDM 1500€ (no stock) / C3 42' 800€
Appart from the 144hz vs 120hz, are there any major differences in this 42' C4 vs C3? Dont really care about the tv os since it'll be a monitor.
other than what 15-20ish nit brighter and 24hz faster on pc not worth the price from the c3 for the c4
I'm here right now. No stock on the asus till september, good deal on c4 and 500 cheaper plus better peak brightness. What did you get?
@@changeagent228i got the c4 42' for 1082€ in early May. Now I'll never go smaller
Please Help Me:
I just installed this exact TV and only actions I’ve done so far is plug HDMI from new Mini Mac Pro and paired my HK speakers via BT and also plugged in the 3.5 jack as backup.
I wish someone would show S90D 42/48” side by side with the C4
So hdmi 2.1 can delivered 4k 144hz?
NOPE SO ITS WORTHLESS
It can do 144 at 4k with a good graphics card on hdmi 2.1
So this will run 4k 120fps hdr10 on Xbox series x?
Would you go 77” Samsung S90C or 65” LG G3? Mainly for TV and movie watching and some gaming.
Go size if price the same
LG G3 OLED is better than S90C
A shame that LG cant implement 1080p 240hz for PC input, like they did with their new monitors.
Great mini review Brian
Thank you as always Michael!
Have you done the strictly pc gaming mode setup video yet?
Os this a woled panel?
How are things on OLED today with "Black crush"? This is critical for the monitor, otherwise the monitor would not be a monitor if it did not have higher quality standards than the TV. Why Sony abandoned the OLED matrix in their new bvm Hx310...
Wow! Beautiful 🤩🤙🏾
Thank you so much for watching!
I know this review is for the 42”, but any thoughts on the 77” in a moderately lit living room? I’m considering that or the Bravia 8.
The 77" will actually perform better as it has pixel boost and it will be brighter. Excellent TV! Also it's an excellent gaming TV as well

Really wished Sony would’ve come out with an A90K succcessor this year
So how does it compare to Sony ?
Was this impressive enough
Brian, in all honesty, is it really better than the C3? For me just doesn’t seem so, what do you think?
It's not night and day. The C3 is still incredible. If you don't need 144hz or dolby Vision filmaker mode, then grab the C3. The c4 also has the professional tone mapping feature. There are these features and if you don't need them then c3
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY appreciate you, Brian yeah I already scored to C3 last week. Appreciate your input.
@@RoyalBoyle78 then your good brother
C4 is a little better (144hz is nice) but not worth almost twice the cost. When it comes down in price (when C5 launches) it'll be a steal. But with the C3 you won't be disappointed!

I hope LG releases the C5 in the mid-30-inch range. Perfect size for a monitor then.

Did you notice any headaches, eye strain when using this Tv..
Looking to upgrade my tv for gaming/movies what would you recommend a 65 inch g4 or a 77 inch c4
go for LG G4 - G4 is flagship tv
G4 definitely.
I use my 55" TV as a monitor, so using the G4 as a monitor would work fine for me. I don't use a desk. I have a keyboard console table at my couch.
Hi Brian
Will the 83 inch have all the same screen tech as the smaller models...??
Great vid my man
Checking out you review today to see if I should get one at $896. It's on the way.
Awesome! It's excellent!
So is it mugish to buy the C3 @ 120hz if you’re rocking a 7800x3d and 4090. Difference between 120 & 144 is notable to me unfortunately 😢
I mean, if you need every single frame, it might be worth it. Having a high end graphics card I'd want to max it
Is the 500 Euro/Dollar price compared to the C3 worth it? 120hz vs 144hz
Yes the C4 is definitely worth the upgrade. It's a bigger jump then most of us thought it would be . Highly recommended
It's good for xbox, not really for pc work per gaming. The text is not clear like monitors. I returned the c4 42 last week.
I've not got a big front room and my current 43 inch Samsung is arguably too big for it
How does this compare to the new Samsung 42inch Oled however
This beats it as the LG C4 has better processing and feature set including Dolby Vision. The Samsungs at the 42" size are not QD-OLEDs so they have absolutely no advantage. C4 easy choice my friend
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY could be my Christmas present to myself in December then when the prices have dropped the same as they did last year 👍🙂
