I purchased my books from Valley Power Systems City of Industry, Ca 626-336-4656 In the parts department ask for Steve or Nick They have the book for the motor and a different book for the fuel system. I recommend both
Wish all shops were like you guys got my truck sitting in a shop 5 mo now for an inframe and no clue when they will get it done might as well shop for another truck, rather go to a dealer nxt time.
So the book that I have says for dd15 (torque specs below) And what you show the 147 lb-ft then the 2 90° is for dd13 am I correct or is this book I have bs I want to buy one like yours the hard copy but can't find one at all Torque (A)37 lb-ft (B)184 lb-ft (C)90° (D)90°
I worked LA Freightliner for 15 years as new truck engineering and sales. THEE biggest problem with the DD engines was torquing the head. At the Detroit factory they have a hydraulically powered robot that torques all the bolts at the same time. It is impossibly to duplicate that in a shop. So we tried our best NOT to ever take the head off (course you can't avoid that on an overhaul), since once you did, the engine would blow a head gasket about every 200,000 miles after that. Maybe it's different now.
Very familiar with LA Freightliner, I am practically there every day. I use my manual every time, I follow the torque sequence to the T and I have had pretty good success. Knock on wood I wonder if the way the factory torqued the cylinder head bolts at the same time had anything to do with the issues.
Really good question, the reason I install intake manifold, coolant manifold and exhaust manifold before installing the cylinder head is because you will have things that get in the way and will make it difficult or prevent you from doing it after. For example, the oil module, fuel module and if the truck you are working on has the turbine that will make it very hard on the exhaust side.
@@CarlosDieselElectric you are the 1st person to take a full rebuild to inframe.. ridiculously logical.. thank you i will be following in your footsteps. last question. what IS the purpose of the turbine? can it be eliminated? Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge. Priceless!!
@@businesscorrespondence201 the turbine was installed from 2009-2010 through 2013-2014 then Detroit switch to the turbo with the waste gate and V-pod. The turbine actually works well. What year are you working on?

I don’t believe I made a part 7. Once the cylinder head has been installed my other videos should cover everything else you need to finish up. I cover the rocker housing. I cover injector installation and I covered valve adjustments. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
I believe the difference between the toque turn method 🆚 using a 3/4 is you need to really stretch the bolt so that the cylinder head can seat properly. If you are using the 3/4 impact, you can still make the turn (90 plus 90) but the bolt isn’t being stretched the same as you would by using the torque turn method. Hope that makes sense.
The dealer did the tune up on my DD15 after 500k miles couple weeks ago, and my MPG is down from 8 to 7. They said its normal and will get better. HOW🧐🧐
It might be possible. The injectors do have to learn, the MCM should be able to make some adjustments. You can reset the injector learned data. But you need DDDL to be able to do this.
@@CarlosDieselElectric lol it sounds funny and I get a kick out of counting them 🤣 that should be your trademark. if you ever sale merch you should definitely add AGAIN to it 🤣
Bro you’re doing a great job, but I personally will not show everything on a video, only reason I say that is too many guys will get brave and try rebuilding some poor guys engine & F it up. Rebuilding million miler takes discipline. All l am saying is let people buy the service manual if they really wanna do this. Keep up the great.
Thank you for the time you invested on the dd15 rebuild! Bless you man!
The way you explained it..i think i’m going to rebuild my truck engine by myself lol..good work👍👍

Los tornillos de cabeza siempre se tiene que poner nuevos. Por qué cuando se instalan llevan torsión y se estiran.
Grasias alguna otra recomendacion?

I do have one with the CAM housing. Look for Coronado CAM housing
Awesome 😎 thank you 🙏
What has been the cost on the rotating assembly with sleeves?
What size are those 2 small bolts?
The hidden bolts at the back. Sometimes you will need a 16 mm socket if I remember correctly.
Are those the ones you are talking about?
Muy buen video

1) 37 ft lbs
2) 184 ft lbs
3) 90 turn
4) 90 turn
