I use only one of those hanger trees- all my silky tops go on it. Because my silky tops are thin, they’re super easy to take off the hangers. But- I don’t use it for anything else.
I really love your channel a lot! Your voice and the way you talk are very calm and soothing. Dori's question and your answer on it were my most favorite part. I loved all the video, though! Are we seeing part 2?
Thank you for making me see more clearly what I have been doing wrong. I am a classic but since retirement I have graduated into wearing clothes that are too relaxed for me to feel like me. Tomorrow I will wear proper trousers and a blouse and not worry that I spend a lot of the day relaxing. Feeling myself maybe just what I need to get me out and about more.
I will be 50 this December. I have gone from 344lbs at my heaviest wearing a 4X in clothing to 155lbs and wearing a medium. It took much longer for my mind to catch up with how I actually looked than I thought. I didn't do it as gracefully as you, I think I went the about 5 full wardrobe's of clothing. All my clothing is second hand, and I do believe that is the only reason I could afford it. Be patient with yourself, if you are on the right track give yourself some credit! And...that being said, there is something VERY appealing about going out and buying yourself a piece of clothing that truly fits you at that very moment.
CONGRATULATIONS, Tamara! 🤩What a huge accomplishment! Thank you for sharing your wardrobe changes throughout your weight loss and how treating yourself on this journey is good. What are some of your tips for how you lost the weight?
Just a couple of things to share: Something I found helpful when I was losing weight and needed clothes while transitioning - check out thrift stores and consignment boutiques. You get "new to you" clothes without spending a fortune. When I reached my goal weight, I still checked thrift/consignment. My best find: a Michael Kors tweed blazer with leather sleeves and lapels for $18.00. Another suggestion for figuring out what you are actually wearing when you approach cleaning out your closet: Hang all of your clothes on the rod backwards, opposite of how you normally do. When you wear something, wash it, dry clean it, hang the item properly. After 6 months or a year you will be able to plainly see what you are not wearing.
A suggestion on where you can donate your nice clothes is at a nursing home. My mother while living in a nursing home donated many of her clothes. The residents were so excited to have new to them clothes. The residents hadn't been shopping in years and loved having the new clothes that they got to go through and choose from. Their excitement was like Christmas morning.
Hi Cindy, that sounds like a wonderful idea! I'm sure you need to check with your local nursing home before dropping off clothes but it's an idea that hadn't occurred to me! 🥰
I just love your videos Nancy. I would love a video on accessorizing with pins/brooches, scarves, etc. I have collected a few over the years and most of the time I put them on and then take them right back off because I'm not sure that I've styled them correctly. I keep all of the clothes that I wear on a regular/semi-regular basis in my bedroom closet and my out of season, dressy, formal clothing in the spare bedroom closet. This way I only see what I like to wear.
I loved this video. I bought some of those space saving hangers. I agree, it’s not easy to see what’s on them or to put them back in the closet. I think it’s a good idea to know what you feel best in on those days when you feel a bit fat or when your confidence fluctuates. Thank you.🌺
Thank you so much for answering my question! I really enjoyed this video and hearing your answers to all of the questions. I am inspired to get rid of more. Because I don't wear a good portion of them. Have a happy day. Amy Joleen
It’s amazing how most of these questions resonated with me! I love your thought process for how to work your wardrobe! So excited to start transitioning to a closet I love. Also, so excited for your in depth hourglass body video! Everyone wants one but they are so hard to dress!!
Great video! Love your organization/declutter tips and congrats on your weight loss. I'm on a weight loss journey myself have gone thru multiple sizes so far. This week I decided to visit a local 2nd hand store just for denim jeans. I'm finding some still with tags or others that look like they've hardly been worn. For about $10.00, I can get brand name jeans that retail for over $60 new. These days people walk around with holes as a fashion statement, so I can get away with some slightly used jeans until my weight is stable. I also take in my tops which is sssooo easy to do. I trace a shirt that fits good onto the inside of a shirt that is too big and sew new side seams...easy peezy. I've also added elastic to the back of jeans to make them last a bit longer. That's my two cents! TFS
Great suggestions with pulling those pieces of clothes and storing them. I may try this for I have many items I know for a fact I have not worn in a while. I am starting a new job that will have me going back to an office this week after being remote for two years. I will see if I use any of those items the next 6 months. I know my style has changed at 52.
Good luck in your new job, Maria! I can't wait to hear what changes you make to your wardrobe once you get back in the groove of working in an office.😍
I’ve gotten rid of clothes that I later regretted 😢 now with prices going up and good quality hard to come by I’ve decided that I will hold on to what I’ve got. I love your haircut It’s very smart.
Thanks Nancy, I loved this video answering our questions. I hope to see another on the future. Also, I would love to hear about your weight loss journey.
Hi Regins, My hair color is natural. I don't dye it (never have) and just keep letting the grays in wherever they land. I grew up as a strawberry blonde and always thought of myself as warm, but as I have aged, I lean toward cool tones.
How do I decide what Purses to keep? I am a Purse queen and 💕 Love all of them 😮😮😮 Should I do like the clothes and put some in another place? Thank you 😊
Heard some good advice about purses. Create Accessory sets. Ie: Purse, shoes, scarf, similar color for different purposes. (1) evening (2) workday wear (3) sporty (4) wedding wear. (5) beach-summer. Then put remaining purses into a box for 6 months. Works great!
Such a great video Nancy! Our best clues to our style are the clothes we actually like to wear . Keeping things in our closet for “just in case” never works. We don’t wear them and they just get in our way when we are deciding what to wear …. Merci beaucoup from Montreal!😊
What a great video! As a fairly new subscriber, my question is....what is your background in fashion? Also, as someone who has moved from cold New England to sunny Florida, when should I donate my beautiful winter items? I brought half of it with me a year ago. Thanks!
Hi Christine, Thank you so much for subscribing and I'm so glad you discovered me! I had a college degree in fashion and worked in the industry for more than twenty years styling women of all ages and body types. You can read more about me here: www.shoppingonchampagne.com/about-1
I am 67 and my bottom is disappearing- what style of dress or skirt should I wear please? I used to be hourglass (ish) now I am apple/inverted triangle/oblong. Am only a couple of pounds overweight but don’t like my figure anymore!
I keep two sizes in my closet. I have to take steroids. But I don’t like taking them. But when I do take them I always gain weight. So I’m keeping all the jeans and shorts I had to buy within the last six months. And I will wear them when I go back on the steroids. Because I know I will have to. Even though they give me cramps in every muscle in my body. When my cortisol gets so slow I have to start back. I just weaned myself off of them a few weeks ago. I’m hoping I don’t have to start them for a while. I may go back to acupuncture for a while.
Those stupid multi hook strips are still going in the garbage. I like hanging shoe organizers. I could be wearing a potato sack and wouldn't get a comment from anyone. I like basic black. I want more khaki but I think the lighter color will make me look fatter. I also and fond of olive green and camo prints but I'm not sure if camo is here to stay or not. I noticed there are darker clothes on the rack.

What hair color do you use--as in brand name and saturation number? Also, do you consider yourself a warm or a cool?

This was very helpful, thank you!
I'm so glad you found it informative, Carol! 🥰

I still rely on the colour analysis I had done back in the 80s. Why wear a colour that doesn’t flatter your skin tone?
I agree, Joanne! This is a topic I plan to cover in an upcoming video 🤩
Go thrift shopping while transitioning weight loss. Costs much less.
