Hi Nancy. I'm not exactly a true pear shape. I have shoulders as broad as my hips, and my waist is neat but my bust is small. I thought I'd try a new look, and went for a dress with a turtle neckline (it buttons closed at the nape of the neck), open shoulders, fitted at the bodice and waist but with a flared A-line skirt section. I wore my hair in a loose bun with the dress. And I've never looked and felt so amazing. If any of the ladies watching your vid /reading this have a similar shape to me, I highly recommend this. I looked like an hourglass model and I never thought that was possible at my age!
Great video! I have missed seeing you and it is good to have you back! I am a rectangle, pushing 70! I find in the winter I can't stand to wear the v-neck, scoop, or practically anything except turtleneck and mock neck. I try to offset this by using a scarf in a vneck or asymetrical look. My neck and head seem to be always chilly. Summer is great because all those low cut necklines look great on me.
I think I’m an apple shape right now. I used to be an hourglass. But as I get older I just keep getting rounder. I look great in v necks. I don’t always wear them. But I do try to buy a lot of shirts that are v necks. Or maybe a button up shirt that is kind of like a v neck. I’m hoping to some day get off the medication that is making gain weight. But until I do, I’m dressing for the body I have now. Even if I don’t really like it. I’ve learning to live with it.
I'm a rectangle. I'm very much just straight up and down. Small bust and waist hardly goes in. I like the boyish look though. I tend to always wear a button up shirt, a button up polo shirt or a crew neck that is tight to the neck. You didn't actually mention any of these necklines for any body shape? I feel the cold. Plus at nearly 56 I don't like exposing my neck or decollatage. I also think a high neck looks so much more modern and works better if you throw a blazer on over the top.
Question.. I have a pearish shape with a bit of extra width around my tummy and waist but I have curvy hips..waist is about 10 inches less than my hips and my chest is around 3 inches more than my waist because I am not large chested. So I’m almost square-ish from top to waist but definitely pearish in shape in hips for example I wear a 30-31 waist jean..with tight curvy hip.. I look great in flare jeans and good in bootcut… I am also short waisted and long legged and 5’6”. Necklines plus skirt and dress styles are what I don’t know much about..which type of v neck, scoop neck…sweetheart..asymmetrical..square….crew.. necks can I wear to flatter my body type. I know crews are only good for me if I wear something like longer necklace to draw attention down… I know turtlenecks look bad on me.. neck not long enough..From there…I really don’t know what to wear for my combination shape.. if you are looking for ideas… I would love to see you to do this same type video on people with combination body types. I loved this video. Always love your show content.
I agree. It's a problem because these are all from large retailers such as Nordstrom and Saks. Unfortunately, we are highly under-represented by most retailers. When I find mature women modeling, I always choose them!
I don’t agree with this. You talking about body but you forgot we have neck. All my life I had neck not too long but very proportional to my shoulders. Never were scarves, felt like choke. In my 70- th , I had larger neck and shorter. Neck lines is not only body type but the most is your neck. What to were to make your neck thinner to.

What about an apple shape with a HUGE bust?
Hello
I heard Michael kors on Project Runway a number of years ago say “the only person who should wear a turtle neck is a turtle”.

Hello
As an inverted triangle/ rectangle I luv the look of a fitted crew neck top on me. I don't think you mentioned crew necks at all🤔
Yes, I should have added crew necks for inverted triangles! Thanks, Christine! 🥰
Also have to consider face shape
Absolutely, Carolyn! Perhaps that needs to go on my videos-to-make list! 😍
Hello
Marilyn Monroe wore a turtleneck better than anyone. She was an hourglass like me.
Appreciate the point you made but none the example photos you show are women over 50
