Perfect Pearls give excellent results when set with water and a smaller blending brush, you can’t beat them as well as cosmic shimmer powders.

Years ago i was taught that hairspray (the cheapest one you can find) is the cheapest fixative for perfect pearls. And i agree with your comment about Christmas cards getting tossed although my Christmas cards to other cardmakers get more care and attention

Yea i dont ever expect people will keep them forever apart from my mother in law and my mom(i know they keep hold of them) and im ok with that, i have fun making the cards and get such joy from the process that that is the most important bit for me

Hey, Sasha, re. Perfect Pearls: as far as I understand it, yes, you have to set them with water, that is the way they are made: they are a mica with a binder added which activates with water. A little is enough: you just need to kind of waft your card through a mist of water sprayed from a mister as far as I know. What you did with the explosion powders would have been plenty… Kind regards from Germany, Nicola

Hi Sasha, as everyone says, I think you spray a fine mist of water and waft your card through it. I only got as far as putting my eye shadows in my craft room, but now I know they will work with Versamark, thank you. I was watching a Sweet Poppy Stencils video a while ago, and Lucy used one of their mica powders with a cool technique, which you needed the mica that doesn't have the setting agent, so there are definitely advantages to it. I'm quite tired, but I'm sure Lucy mixed it with a paste, then used her heat tool to bubble it up. You can buy the setting agent separately there. ❤

Yes Sasha perfect pearls require water to set. If you don't set them with water they do exactly what happened to you. So go back and try your project again and you only have to do a mist of water. I need an extreme lightly mist it won't Warp your card or anything. But thank you for the technique it is very nice.

KAMAR spray varnish is a fixative that works with alcohol inks, watercolors and would work with all micas and erfect pearls which do adhere with the very lightest water mist. Which you used anyway...

The explosion powder is really cool, love all the different effects. You do have to mist perfect pearls to activate the binder, but the makeup has an oil in it for the binder. That large stamp would be cool to stamp for no line coloring and then stamp over it with the powders. I always forget about this technique, thanks for the video reminding me.

You can set perfect pearls with hair spray

Thanks for that demo. I have been thinking about getting some Perfect pearls but I think I will stick with the eyeshadow. I use hairspray or Krylon or Mod podge fixative sprays for things like this. I also use them for things I print with my printer.

Beautiful cards! I do not have experience with these materials. Is there a way to "set" the powders so they don't rub off of the cards? Thanks!!!

Beautiful cards. Do you need to heat set them, or just let it dry?

Hi Sasha I have very old pearl x. I seal it with hairspray. I don't see anything that says water will seal it.

What an awesome idea!! With the perfect pearls you need to add gum arabic that way it won't brush or rub off. I learn this from you tube but don't remember which one it was.

yea just a bit of a pain to pay for an expensive craft product and have to do extra steps to make it work. It was nice that cheap make up did a great job
