Love this technique and had to try it immediately. In fact, I'm still working on my first panel! What I discovered is that I can press the embossing powder into the tape using an overlay sheet of release paper and rubbing with a bone folder. It worked really well for me. Why I hesitated about using my finger is that it contains oils that might be harmful to the loose powder that is returned to the jar. Also, I live near a creek, so try to keep any humidity out of my embossing powders. Your cards are beautiful, as always!! Thank you for such a wonderful idea-starter!!
ha ha i love it Sue!!! I love that you just cracked on and had a go straight away! and Gosh i forgot all about using some spare release paper! Great thinking! and i didnt even think about the oils in my fingers, yikes, im glad i have people like you pointing some oopsi's out. Im going to pin your comment to the top if that's ok as it's got some great tips?
Love all the cards. Such a good technique. Thanks so much. BTW anyone getting such a beautiful handmade card would be so wowed. Perfection is not required. I could barely see what you were worrying about. So happy to have found your channel.
Just today while weeding through craft supplies, I thought of dumping some powders I never use. Your video has inspired me to take a second look. Thank you.
Good grief, Sasha - this is brilliant!! I absolutely love the effect and the first card is so striking! I love the gold addition to the second card too - it really set that diamond design off perfectly! Thank you for sharing! 🤗❤
Sasha awesome ideas. I love that first one, the colours, the clean and simple look, just everything about it. Looking forward to what you come up with next. Thanks for a great video and have a beautiful week. x
Love those cards. An easy technique with a big bang.as for the stripes being unevenly spaced on the third card, it is homemade/handmade and isn’t supposed to be perfect
Personally I loved the one you didn't the most ... very art deco IMHO. Great idea & cards thxs Sasha ... & BTW, please don't be so hard on yourself 😊 ❤
For the circle outline that didn't lay flat -- maybe if you made a die cut of the same out of card stock. Use temporary tape to stick the INSIDE down, then lay the outline down with the sticky tape. Then remove the inner circle. That might help retain the shape. Maybe. 😁 I love the plaid!
ha ha, i think that might be too much effort for my lazy crafty brain. Though i do feel determined to find an easy way to get that effect, not sure i'll manage it
I don't know if it would work with double-sided adhesive, but there is a way to stick down thin die cut shapes like the rings you had. The easiest way I can think of is to die cut the smaller inside shape - circle in your case - from something like lightweight cardstock. Copy paper might work as well, though I'm not sure if that would be thick enough not to get fiddly. Use temporary adhesive, either from a repositionable tape runner or make a loop of low-tack tape & stick the die cut onto your card front/panel where you want your ring/frame to go. I would recommend however you stick it down, make sure the edges at least are touching your card/panel. That gives you a guide to form the double-sided tape die cut around. I would recommend going SLOWLY as you lay it down, & guide it with both hands, so that you get it against the paper/cardstock die cut guide AND don't overlap the edges of that guide & adhere it to your card/panel. Now, I've never done this with double-sided tape like you used, only with paper frames that I was adhering. So I'm not sure if the tape would be still too floppy to work with. But I still think it would be worth a try. Of course, remove the guide piece before removing the adhesive liner paper & adding your embossing powder. Anyway, my two-cents worth. I love how your cards came out, Sasha! My favorite has to be the plaid one. This is such a brilliant idea. I've seen it done similarly with glitter, but I don't think ever seen anyone do it with embossing powder. Until now, of course! :) Thank you for sharing. Take care, & have an awesome day! :)
I had idea that I could use tape. I'm excited to try it now. I have a bunch of embossing powders that I haven't tried. Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea.
Honestly, the "bumpy", does not detract from your lovely cards. In fact until you mention it, I couldnt see anything wrong at all. Just a brilliant idea for creating unique cards.
Love them all. The happy birthday card could use a burgundy mat behind it. I think it would really make the top panel blend into the card. If that makes sense. But thanks for showing how to use tape with embossing powders.
I love this technique and all your cards. Not tried this before, but I will certainly try it now! Thank you for your tutorials, clear and easy to understand xx
I remember jennifer maguire doing something like this a few years ago I think, and foiling with tape. I used to decorate gifts with double sided tape on the wrapping and then cover it in glitter and little bits of confetti, so many possibilities!
I used to do the tape technique back in the early 2000’s for heat embossing….i haven’t done it in so long I completely forgot about it (ridiculous I know).I’m so happy you made this video, thank you!
Great cards, Sasha. Regarding the sentiment on the second card, I think it looks great. Everyone's tastes are different. Someone will love it. I think it would make a great masculine card because of the geometrics and the colours. :)
I loved this video! I just embossed sentiments strips the other day. And even though WOW has an anti-static thing in there powders and jars, they do stick to paper. I dusted my cardstock so heavily with an antistatic powder tool and using WOW black detail powder embossed sentiments. And no matter what it always gets specks everywhere! That’s a much better idea to ink in black then use clear! Now that I bought all new embossing powders.
My opinion is that the outline of gold on the sentiment adds something to it. It is not just plain wording but did not take much to achieve it. Beautiful card. Love how you did it with the tape.
Hi Sasha, great technique I love the ideas you come up with ,I don’t have too many colours of embossing powder just the basic ones ,thanks for sharing hugs Katie 💜🩷💜
Hi Sasha. An absolutely brilliant idea! Your cards are stunning. I love the happy birthday one and would keep it exactly as you made it. Keep well. God bless. ❤❤❤
I think You have an over critical eye, of your own work, which I think we all do. I love all three cards, I think they look wonderful... an yes, balanced.. in proportion... Love the idea of the tape... I might try it... Except I am still fighting with my red line tape, to get the backing off... 🤣
oh yes, redline tape can really drive me batty at times. I find if i stab it a bit with a pokey tool i can then pull it off and then stick it onto something that likes the static of the release plastic. Ha ha that static drives me mad
Sasha, wow, embossing powder does put an anti-static ingredient in the cup of the embossing powder, but that is so the embossing powder does not stick to the cup. You still need to use an antistatic bag on the paper because it will stick to anywhere your finger has been or there’s grease or something there. I would recommend that you contact and get it in writing that you don’t need to use the embossing back because I’m not sure that’s correct.
They did tell me directly(im working on their design team) that there is no need for the powder bag at all. I used it in one my first videos for them and they were quick to point out that they dont sell them because they arent needed. Ive not actually had a single issue with them either. The only time i use the anti static powder bag is when im working on a static y surface like acetate. Hope that helps :)
Very creative! I wonder with the die cuts, if just 1 side of card stock had the tape on it. Use your liquid glue to stick onto panel, then release tape on top then heat emboss the shapes. Hope that made sense. As I can afford it, I’ll be buying embossing powders in so many colours. ❤️😊🇨🇦
Stunning cards! Plus you have reminded me that I have a roll of the red tape. I have a copper embossing powder that refuses to melt. I might try your technique on black cardstock and set what happens
i hope you do give it a go :) With regards to your powder that wont melt. I have heard that some embossing powders can go off, as in they expire and dont work any more. Have a go with this technique, but it might be that your powder has gone off and wont work no matter what :(
Love this technique and had to try it immediately. In fact, I'm still working on my first panel! Beautiful cards thank you for all those great ideas.
All three backgrounds would make wonderful masculine cards.
They do, nice clean and simple!
Love all the cards. Such a good technique. Thanks so much. BTW anyone getting such a beautiful handmade card would be so wowed. Perfection is not required. I could barely see what you were worrying about. So happy to have found your channel.

Good grief, Sasha - this is brilliant!! I absolutely love the effect and the first card is so striking! I love the gold addition to the second card too - it really set that diamond design off perfectly! Thank you for sharing! 🤗❤

Love those cards. An easy technique with a big bang.as for the stripes being unevenly spaced on the third card, it is homemade/handmade and isn’t supposed to be perfect
You are so kind, thank you for the loving words. I remind people of that all the time, but i forget to remind myself
Wow they came out really beautiful. Thanks Sasha.
Thank you Carol
Love all 3 cards... I'd even go further with the 'imperfect'(-bumps n all) n try to make the embossing patchy/shabby ... Thanks for posting. :)
I like all the cards! Very cool technique! Warm regards from 🇨🇦Calgary🇨🇦
Thank you so much :)
Personally I loved the one you didn't the most ... very art deco IMHO.
Great idea & cards thxs Sasha ... & BTW, please don't be so hard on yourself 😊 ❤

Beautiful. Loved this and I'm definitely trying it!
I’ve have not done too much embossing because I’m not good at it, but, this looks like fun
It's hard to go wrong with this method :)

I had idea that I could use tape. I'm excited to try it now. I have a bunch of embossing powders that I haven't tried. Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea.

@@SashaReade That must be it! 🤣🤣🤣xxx💖💖💖
What a great technique - all three cards are fabulous, but I especially like the first one with that colour combo 🤗
Thank you so much for your kind words
I like the "diamond" birthday card just fine, it's really good 😊 The plaid is exciting!! You did some very creative and pretty work.
I loved the first one and the second one but i would have put a smaller wording on the front. Lovely embossing powder colours.
Love your ideas. Nice talent!
Love them all. The happy birthday card could use a burgundy mat behind it. I think it would really make the top panel blend into the card. If that makes sense. But thanks for showing how to use tape with embossing powders.
Leave it. It is fine! Love the plaid! You are so creative.
Great way to do cards .
Never would have thought of this. Brilliant idea! Beautiful cards! ❤
Thank you so much

This is lovely, will try it out a.s.a.p. 😃💖
Great ideas Sasha. I like the square card. It would make a good masculine card.
Oh yes, good thinking
I do this quite often but with foil or guilding flakes.... never thought of embossing powder! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Great cards, Sasha. Regarding the sentiment on the second card, I think it looks great. Everyone's tastes are different. Someone will love it. I think it would make a great masculine card because of the geometrics and the colours. :)
These are awesome backgrounds. I love the colors that you used and the fact that you can use tape. Thanks for sharing Sasha
Thank you so much, and yes, tape, such an easy way to get embossing powder to stick :)
I think all these cards are amazing, really lovely techniques so vibrant❤
Great technique, requires some time but great results!!!
Lovely cards and backgrounds Sasha! TFS
