    One thing to point out to folks out there in UA-cam-land is that the riving knife is non-adjustable on this saw i.e. to align it with the blade. The manual, on page 48, in the troubleshooting section directs the reader to a section called RIVING KNIFE and BLADE ALIGNMENT however that section doesn't exist in the manual nor are there any instructions for that adjustment because it is non-adjustable. I found a workaround after great frustration with my workpiece hanging up on the riving knife as it passed through. I put a flat automotive feeler gauge of the right thickness under the back side of the clamping mechanism that the lever squeezes down on. THat shifted the RK over enough. I just have to remember not to let it fall out when I adjust the lever😀 Good luck and I hope you are enjoying your saw.

    Just bought this saw today at Lowe’s. I looked at several other brands and models and most seemed cheaply made compared to this one. I also need stacked dado capability. And I have a 12” Hitachi (before name was changed) compound miter saw and a cordless drill kit that are awesome. This saw with stand is heavy too. I plan to remove the saw from the stand and put it in a workbench at some point. FYI this saw now costs $449.00.

    Just bought this last night under the brand of Mastercraft from Canadian Tire. Not a lot of review videos have as much detail in as short a period as yours. I was eying the DeWalt, but I picked this up for the same price and the DeWalt has the smaller blade and no stand. I'm bored and have turned to free pallet wood projects. This unit will also help me repair or build another shed door out of free wood. Making a pallet wood wine rack as well.

    The issue the other reviewers mentioned is the plastic gears for lifting mechanism. DeWalt model has metal gearing. That kind of stopping me from buying this model but DeWalt is just way too expensive, double the price in Australia. And it's under Hikoki brand

    I have this saw. It works great. Only complaint I have with it is not being able to remove the riving knife to do box joints or dados without cutting the bottom of it.

      riving knife is adjustable (little knoby thing under the throat plate) you can lower it or raise it, if I recall correctly, you can put it all the way inside

      You can remove the riving knife, there’s a little housing assembly near the blade you can access from the back of the saw. You have to remove a little access plate that the knife is attached to. I love this saw, I’m here because the plastic teeth on the blade height adjustment gear have worn out and I’m having trouble finding the replacement parts.

    I have this saw and the dewalt equivalent. Both are solid saws, I will say the dewalt seems to be made out of better materials and assembled to a higher standard…but, the Metabo seems to have more power under it and a notably less amount of blade wobble when you start it up.

    • @sebastien9193
      @sebastien9193 Рік тому

      The dewalt has no soft start and the blade has tendancy to unlock due to the strenght of the motor...

      And what is the price difference? For the average person, isn’t the METABO the better value?

    I have this saw. A good saw and will hold a dado set and you can buy a dado throat plate. The weak point is the fence. The fence is junk! Mine broke, I replaced it and the next one broke also.

    Im thinking this saw is made in the same factory as the Grizzly... very, very similar. Both same color, both lever for locking fence and riving knife. Both have soft start. Grizzly has an upgraded switch but doesnt have as much rip capacity... check it out.

    • @HiFiVector
      @HiFiVector  2 роки тому +2

      Totally different Saws. Metabo Hitachi manufactures their own tools. Grizzly gets their tools from different factories. I know because we have CNC machines , lathes and mills from grizzly and although they are geat the metabo Saw looks to me like a higher quality saw. Look closely at the frame on the metabo it looks twice the diameter and it actually has thicker welds supports bigger wheels and also the table Guide system and many other features are totally different. Take a closer look between the two and you will see that Although they are both green lol there are many many differences when you look closely. Btw I have use this metabo saw a lot since the first initial video and I have no complaints I love this saw.

    the gear at 0:19 consists out of metall - what is about the gear from the high adjustment (not these on the wheel, the other two on the inside near the blade unit)?

    I own this saw. After about 10 uses it stopped while ripping a 2x6 into 1x3's. I didn't notice any binding or feeding issues and it just died. Nothing I could do would make it run. Watched a few video's and it appears the soft star switch is easy to kill. Then you have to go order one and take the electrical section apart. Let me tell you that sucked. For this amount of money I would think it would run better. I agree it offers a lot for the money.

    Has anyone had to replace to the blade height adjustment assembly? The plastic teeth have worn out on mine and the blade height will not adjust. That’s my only issue with this saw, I use a table saw everyday. I would say I demand a lot from my tools but I also care for them and maintain them. It took almost exactly one year of near daily use for those teeth to go bad.
