  • Detailed steps for BMW blower motor replacement on a 2007 BMW 525i. There is a lot to take apart but most parts are easy. Only a few steps are a little difficult. My blower started to sound like crickets awhile back and slowly got worse. I put off changing for a long time because it is so buried in the dash. There are some videos or websites that explain the process of getting it out but I wanted to make something that was hopefully easier to follow.

Hello Robert I know this is an old post. I just wanted to give you a sincere THANK YOU!! Your video is a lifesaver and absolutely the truth. I loved the piece of slicing the vent and sliding it back in talk about timesaver is not the word. Anyone else watching this..Robert is spot on point here U DO NOT have to dismantle this car to make this repair! Follow what he did and u will be fine finished mines this morning and it’s working absolutely perfect! I am very happy got quotes on this job from 850-1200+ super ridiculous hence why it was not working for a couple years LOL. I am not a mechanic just a guy that doesn’t mind picking up a tool. So if are like that u can do this job for certain and save yourself plenty of money. Again Rob 💯 💯 💯 on this one!!

After I was watching your video it's save 2 hours for shortcut. I did it yesterday & it's take me almost 4 hours and atleast save $ 400 for me. Thanks again.

Thanks for posting this. I've looked all over UA-cam for a detailed way of replacing the blower on my 530D E60 and this was the best by far. I'm not a mechanic but by following your instructions including slitting the plastic on the ducting I was able to do the job in three and a half hours.
    Thanks again.

Thanks for the comment Anthony! I was hoping I could make a video that would have more detail and a lot easier to follow. You're not a mechanic and still did it in 3.5 hours that's great! Glad the video did what I wanted it to do.

Great video, I have a right hand drive 530d and am about to do this once the final stage resistor arives. My blower has failed completly, comes on occasionally so I suspect the FSR but will replace the blower motor at the same time. Thanks for posting. There is a dearth of 'E60 how to videos' on youtube, and I apreciate the additional time it takes to make a video like this. I'd buy you a beer but being in Australia it makes it a bit hard. Cheers regardless.

Thanks so much for the comment. Biggest thing when doing this job is knowing that it will just take a while I don't believe it's that hard just a lot to do.
If I'm ever down under I'll see about getting that beer 🍺

This is great. Your little shortcut on the rear feed tube saved me at least two hours of ripping out the center console. Great how-to. Thank you.

Thanks for the comment! Agreed on being a big time saver. Wouldn't do it on someone else's car but the duct still functions normally and I don't care how it looks, it's not visible after the close up

Great video ~ what did you use to cut the plastic duct at the bottom of the blower area? Also , was the shift knob on the whole time? That seems like a lot of work to remove according to another youtube video..
    Great Idea.

Hello , i cannot put the plastic mounts on the blower , they are loose whatever i do. I hope you will see my comment , i am doing the job tomorrow

I assume you are talking about the mounts at 10:36 in the video? They just clip in, does the one in the video look the same? Unfortunately it’s been too long since I’ve done the stuff for me to remember if my mount was loose or not I don’t have any problems though wish I could be further assistance.

    Thanks, great job.
    Why to disconnect battery?
Hope I will be able do that by my own. Is replacing just blower unit enough or blower regulator has to be changed as well? what is the reason to change the regulator?@t
Is it necessary to do also some coding with the new blower unit? thx

      Thanks for the comment!
You have to disconnect many electrical connectors so it's best to have the battery disconnected.
Replacing just the blower or both of up to you. It may be the problem or you only want to do this job once.
There is no coding that I know of. I only did the fan though. I wouldn't think the regulator would need it.
If you do this just go into it knowing it will take awhile. It's really not that hard, just time consuming.
Thanks again for the comment and good luck.

Do you have to disconnect the Battery before doing this?

    • @Nobobs62

Nick Talesfore sorry for late reply, I didn't see the question too now.
Yes definitely need to disconnect the battery.
