Glad you were able to get one of these, sounds like a great one. It's recently arrived here for $105usd. I do want to pick one up but there are a bunch of independent pre arrival releases that sound incredible with great prices that have been announced that I am buying right now. So much Whisky 😆
Just picked one up today because of this review, last one on the shelf at total wine. Man! It’s super decadent; vanilla-almond poundcake, chocolate brownie, creamy sweet peat.
This sounds on paper like a great combination but it sound soooo much better coming from your palate brother, awesome video! Heading over to Scotland in two weeks time so hopefully I'll be able to bag one. Cheers my man 🥃
I’m picking this bottle up today to have while cooking steak and shrimp on the grill. Sounds delicious and I’ve been looking for another bottle to expand my journey into scotches. Thanks
Thanks for reviewing this one Wade. This one might be considered amongst the best Cairdeas releases of the last couple of years,... however, that's doesn't count for everyone. As I'm not a fan of grape influenced / polluted whisky, I'm happy to leave this one for others to enjoy. Slàinte mhath
In bourbon there is a thing called the 'Kentucky chew', where you hold the liquid in the mouth and almost move it around like a great piece of steak to get the most out of it. I really enjoyed the 16 year old Laphroaig but I haven't had any of the cask finished versions yet. This sounds fantastic so I'll definitely keep an eye out for it, cheers Wade!
Hopped on to catch a review of this and your thumbnail popped up! Thanks for this! Will be picking up mine asap. I do tip my hat to you...cant believe this is north of $200 down under. This is on the shelf now for between $79.99 & $89.99 here in U.S. and will probably be sitting there up until next years release...great review brother - stock up here if you ever visit! Cheers!
I just picked up a bottle of this and I always search reviews and low and behold yours popped up and now I'm a subscriber, your video was that good/thank you. Cheers!
I have a couple and I love this Laphroaig Cairdeas!! Fabulous IMO!! I have some others that I prefer but this Cairdeas is wonderful!! I did not get a dominant sense of ginger. Delicious grapefruit and semolina! The medicinal taste on my palette is bliss! Yes to wet earth! Deep moss!! $165 Canadian before taxes in Alberta, Canada. I was visiting family!! No provincial sales tax and cheaper scotch! No government liquor stores! In BC this would be $200 or more. Cheers Wade!! Oh I admit I love the Glen Cairn!
I totally agree Christine! We are getting some great whisky lately and prices have gotten a little better (if you know where to look). Hope you are well!
@@McIntyresMalts Yes!! I wish I was seeing better prices locally but with government controlled liquor stores it can be difficult to find a deal! Annoying! Cheers Wade!
They definitely aren't cheap. My understanding is this is because they are meant for Friends of Laphroaig so any business selling them has paid retail for them and then added their mark up on top. At least this is the case here in Australia.
@@McIntyresMalts I think that may be in place by me. In recent years any of the Laphroaig Cairdeas or 10 year CS is min $105 USD before tax. Its getting to expensive for me but for this Cairdeas as its age stated I was able to justify the $115 USD price tag.
I have to watch every laphroaig review possible because I just love the stuff but recently I do feel like I prefer purely bourbon cask with it, especially after getting the 16. I do love my triple wood and 10 Sherry but I’d be unsure whether the extra bit in proof justifies that extra huge price increase, what are your thoughts on that after having tried all of those? I’d be really interested to know, thanks for another great review 🔥
@@WhiskyWars have you seen Top Shelf whisky's review? They were just about ready to cartwheel around the room after having this. They also made the comment on how Laphroaig and sherry don't often work but when they get it just right, as they did here, it's an absolute stunner. Will certainly be grabbing one once it hits the Northeast US.
Thanks for checking it Ash, I too love Laphroaig and it's probably the distillery I have tried the most expressions from. Absolutely love the combo of sherry/port influence with a Laph, but also a well aged bourbon barrel Laph is something to behold as well. If I had to pick... I'd buy both 😆
Oh yeah I understand where you are coming from. For us in Australia and pretty much everywhere else we are used to 700ml, you guys were lucky getting an extra 50ml!
@@McIntyresMaltsI’ve loved Laphroaig for 40+ years, it looks like they’re trying to “run me off” with the things they’ve been doing lately and to top it off, they send me e-mails bragging about the woke garbage they’re bending over for. Wade..thank you!!! It's an awesome review of the 2024 Laphroaig cardias. I'm on the hunt for it.
My pleasure Nixon 🥃🫶

So many good options hey! A lot of the time I buy sample drams first so I know which bottles are worth tracking down.
Love this one and your walk through was incredible. So many excellent insights into the liquid. Cheers!

Yeah I'm all about that Kentucky Chew!
My dear friend Wade, you got to get your hands on the Laphroaig elements. L1.0, or L2.0 both are exceptional!!
These ones are only available from Laph direct or auctions in my country it seems. Not easy to come by, but will keep my eyes peeled!
I have last years and I love it, can’t wait to try this one!
Hope you enjoy it Marty!
Great review as usual, Wade. Still waiting for that Laphroaig Cask Strength Batch 15 review 😉
Coming soon!
As a fellow Laphroaig lover, this Cairdeas is a special one.
Agreed!
