Seriously, how many DCI Drumline section leaders have gone through Broken City, I see at the time, former BK, Cadets, and future Bloo section leaders in the snare line, and that’s not counting Zach and Kyle joint the year after.
REALLY this is one of the golden moments of the entire activity right here. ROGER, your line is so on point there's no more fix it, it's just SHINE!!!!!!!!!!!
Roger Carter coaches the drumline at my school and he writes all our drumline parts because we get original music written by a former Crown member while a 2018 age out Blue Devil does our visual stuff. I love my school.
When I marched at RCC in '93-'94 the instructors wouldn't let me bob my head. The music was Tower of Power, the funkiest band, but nope. Glad to see the line here having fun. Not that we didn't, we just couldn't show it. lol.
who is the guy who is on the left of the frame at 15:46? he's been in blue knights since like 2015 or 16, and im pretty sure he's done broken city since like 2016, too?
Mike Jackson wrote the entire exercise "Twitch". Roger Carter wrote the snare solos played in recent years. You can see a beginning version of the exercise being played by the Santa Clara Vanguard drumline back in 2007 when Mike was the percussion caption head there with Brian Mason. 2007 SCV DRUMLINE WARM UP ua-cam.com/video/pkcmqE7Higs/v-deo.htmlm37s Mike became the caption head at Bluecoats in 2009 and Bloo played a version of it as well in 2011. 2011 BLUECOATS WARM UP ua-cam.com/video/hQ54jhCQvbo/v-deo.html Then, in 2012 Bluecoats played the version that became popular that you now see Broken City playing in recent years. 2012 BLUECOATS DRUMLINE "TWITCH" ua-cam.com/video/SOiFI-bMXgg/v-deo.html If anyone has any other details on this please share! Yo! Our "A Day With Broken City 2018" video will come out this summer! We have over 100 gigs of footage and the editing process takes a while. But first, we have a new product to finish, then a few other videos to put out (like A Day With The Cadets 2016), but when it comes out it will be worth the wait! Stay tuned!
Yes! We have a few "A Day With" projects that need to be finished and put out. Hoping to get those edited and posted after we publish our new book! Stay tuned!
Hydrolyzer_ Its an 8th note ninelet. How to count it? Take a half note triplet, and put triplets inside of each triplet. Sounds trippy but if you see it on paper it makes sense.
12:28.......that snare player on the left side of the screen...paaaaaahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! Bro....what the hell was that?!?!?! Yo.....calm down. This had me in tears.
Inspadave Maybe because you wouldn’t feel the music that way doesn’t mean that he doesn’t. Getting into the music is an introspective thing for every person, and it’s his prerogative to groove how he wants.
Perhaps I was not clear in what I was trying to say. I understand very well what it is to feel the music. I marched in kind of a groovy drumline myself back in the day. Most of the cats in our line would be "feeling it". and heads would bob accordingly. What I was trying to say is that a lot of what I see in this line (and BK while you bullshitting) seems more of a performance than a genuine expression of groove. If only there was a word to describe that . . . oh yeah.; hype. Also wik, I could understand grooving to show music, but an exercise/warmup?
I wish I could have, but I couldn’t walk and still can’t for a few months. I completely tore my ACL and partially tore my meniscus, but I’m getting surgery soon to replace my acl and operate on my meniscus.
John bignuts - Well no one is saying that Rhythm X beat them by .013 because she wasn't on the floor. But it's possible that could've made the difference.
it's November and I'm still watching this

It’s 2020 and i keep coming back to this master piece.
Broken City is truly something special.

Mike wrote the exercise Roger wrote the solos
You can take one glance at this line and immediately tell who marched Blue Knights simply by the amount of head bobbin...
Sounds better than a lot of lines come finals in August. Y'all 'n Roger are the ISH!
who is the guy who is on the left of the frame at 15:46? he's been in blue knights since like 2015 or 16, and im pretty sure he's done broken city since like 2016, too?
What happened to bass 1 why is she/he in a wheel chair?
She injured her knee during a rehearsal. Check our full interview with Deanna here: ua-cam.com/video/AZdhfjTH2Yc/v-deo.html
Pretty sure that twitch was written by Roger Carter

Super entertaining! Appreciate the quality video, thanks!
Can someone please name the exercise at 7:09
Hey Chris! This is an exercise called “DDLII” by Mike Jackson. All of the exercise names are in the description with time-stamps! Enjoy!

jordan smith marched BK and just marched Coats pretty sure this was her first season with BCP
Her name is Yuka. She has been dating bass 2 for a while
3:31 WHAT'S GOING ON?!?
Haha! Close!! It was: "THERE'S TOO MUCH GOING ON!! Which was Mark Perrett trying to record all sections at once with one camera and a narrow lens. lol
Ohhh, I hear it now XD
AHHHHH BASSDRUMS FRIK ME
Anybody know the name of the exercise at around 2:59?

Sebastian Martinez thanks seb 😘
TheGridBookSeries actually 9r is at 12:34!
negenacht starts on the buzzes right after the bass solo after the snares/tenors
GAH! Ok, I'm gonna time stamp everything.
whoever is recording must be freezing considering how much the camera is shaking
Austin Friedenburg More like holding the camera up over everyone’s head for an hour in mosh pit conditions. It was actually really nice out!
My left ear likes the bassline
This video is amazing and all, but where’s the “a day with”???
Yo! Our "A Day With Broken City 2018" video will come out this summer! We have over 100 gigs of footage and the editing process takes a while. But first, we have a new product to finish, then a few other videos to put out (like A Day With The Cadets 2016), but when it comes out it will be worth the wait! Stay tuned!
TheGridBookSeries Are y'all still putting out Boston 2017?
Yes! We have a few "A Day With" projects that need to be finished and put out. Hoping to get those edited and posted after we publish our new book! Stay tuned!

What type of rhythm is that at 5:10?? The kinda off sounding one handed deal?
Hydrolyzer_ Its an 8th note ninelet. How to count it? Take a half note triplet, and put triplets inside of each triplet. Sounds trippy but if you see it on paper it makes sense.

12:28.......that snare player on the left side of the screen...paaaaaahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! Bro....what the hell was that?!?!?! Yo.....calm down. This had me in tears.
Just feeling the music, my dude
There is feeling the music, and then there is overdoing it.
Inspadave Maybe because you wouldn’t feel the music that way doesn’t mean that he doesn’t. Getting into the music is an introspective thing for every person, and it’s his prerogative to groove how he wants.

The hype was too real in the lot to not go nuts
This year a lot of basses got hurt and I felt bad for there groups and the players themselves.
Tuning on point
#BCPHadtheSexiestLotBookof2018
13:20 kyle in the back realizes he wants to march broken city
TRUTH!
mesmerizing
So what happened to bass 1?
Colton Landis pretty sure it was a torn ACL or something similar, she was sidelined for the last few shows of the season
i thought that was rcc
Milo Johnson
No. RCC's top bass got kicked off the line for sexual assault.
Drummerboy 98 oh that's wayyyyyyyy worse
Daamee
God? Is that you?
I had a seizure watching this video
Scv 2006
Funky quint part @ 14:59
Did anyone else notice the quad shaking his head no to the snares 😂 at 21:40
Anyone think having Deanna moving on the floor would've gotten them at least .014 more points for the silver medal?
I wish I could have, but I couldn’t walk and still can’t for a few months. I completely tore my ACL and partially tore my meniscus, but I’m getting surgery soon to replace my acl and operate on my meniscus.
Deanna Stockwell - I was hyped when I saw your Instagram video of you in a wheeler. Respect! Have you aged out of BD yet?
Deanna Stockwell So how did you tear your ACL? Just curious.
Pretty unfair to put those .014 points on her, she probably wanted to be out there more than anyone
John bignuts - Well no one is saying that Rhythm X beat them by .013 because she wasn't on the floor. But it's possible that could've made the difference.
Have you ever used a camera before so shakey!! 😡😡😡
OVER hyped. Reminds me of the crowd reaction for Emmanuel Deleon's I and E
