This may be the best bass line I have ever heard. The splits on the 5-let flam exercise are unbelievable and the tuning is perfect. Best second place line in history
Hey Grid, think of all the kids you've inspired to go out and march anything, whether its DCI, WGI, or even just their high school. I know personally that if not for lot videos I would totally not be where I am today or even in this activity. So on behalf of kids like myself, and all the others like me who have been inspired by these kinds of high-quality videos, I thank you so much from the depths of our hearts.
Wow! Just read this comment and it means so much you have no idea! Seriously, thank you for these kind words. We work so hard to promote the activity and it is nice to hear others enjoy and recognize what we do! Thank you!!
They all look dead serious 100% of the time but if you watch their head cam and drum cam videos they goof around and make jokes so much. What a truly beautiful experience to be a devil.
Nunca paro de escuchar este video, es tan increíble, la línea de bajos es "Guaw" impresionante, con audífonos se escuchada cada ataque, cada latido que llega al corazón, como si estuviera en persona escuchándolos!! 🤩🤩😭❤
At 15:15 you can hear Vanguards Hornline playing their opening hit and it in my book is kind of in sync with the current rep that bd was playing during that time.
Damn I haven’t paid attention to DCI in years. It’s so cool to see Brandon as center snare! I grew up in Tucson, AZ as a drummer so of course I would always see him at festivals and competitions growing up. We all knew he was a prodigy.
I hope Brandon sticks with the Blue Devils and maybe becomes a drum tech for them as he’s done marching DCI. The future snares can use some masterful insight and knowledge from him.
Unbelievable. One of the cleanest drum lines I’ve ever heard. Precision. Be proud everyone. I was drum captain on tenors in HS and then turned pro drummer and music producer, so I hope my appreciation for your line carries some weight. Keep playing.
I used to dislike BD because I always thought they squeezed the sticks too much, were more for show than sound, and had unnatural-looking technique in general... but this line... they look like they got beefy chops, relaxed yet through-the-drum strokes, and a badass book. I'm a fan of this BD line for sure.
The quads had an on running joke for when they played this "feature" that was just a spoke roll they would go as far away as possible and in this lot crown had just finished up so the had the crown quad line surround them while they play the spock roll.
I was in the U of Nebraska drum line back in 80-82 on snare. We were good but not this good. One of our instructors was from the Blue Devils so he instilled a lot of these skills and drills to us. It was tough and we weeded out about 75 kids in 4 tryouts but those of us who survived were pretty salty. But we only had about an hour a day to practice and a couple hours sectionals on Wednesday night. I can only imagine if we had 5-6 hours a day to practice how good we could’ve become. Great stuff!
@@froggiflow ah yeah,,,would love to hear you guys currently and what you are doing..!!... Pretty sure I could still do the part. I'm still proud of the NU drumline even back in the 80's. Playing in the sold out stadium every home game for 2 years was Awesome!.. PLayed in the Orange Bowl and at a Kansas City Chiefs game.... big fun!!...
dean scofield the spock roll was the BD quadline. They do it right after the snare features and every lot this season they moved further and further away from the lot zone.
Their bass line sounds like they were playing a MIDI file. Unbelievably clean
One of the best basslines in the activity this year as well! So proud of this crew and the work they have done!
Fr tho👀
I wish bass line had more camera time. They were amazing
@@CarlHamilton1914 Put in as much of the bassline as we could!
@@gridbooknation yeah, I realized the bassline had more camera time later in the video. Thanks for posting this!
Best quality audio from bassline, feels like I’m there. The same heart beat attack thump
Thanks!! The best is watching this on a big screen with some surround sound!!
@@gridbooknation Hi! Out of curiosity, do you know how this was recorded? What equipment, mic placement was used?
This may be the best bass line I have ever heard. The splits on the 5-let flam exercise are unbelievable and the tuning is perfect. Best second place line in history
They were great, Bluecoats were better in my opinion though...
@@ch1mpthap1mp25 no bro. These are literally insane
there was one year the blue coats were better but that was a while ago. blue devils will always be the top dogs.
The kid in the red shirt behind the quads will be a blue devil one day
FACTS! He was getting us so hyped!!
He will! No doubt about it.
Seungjae Brad Han if not a blue devil , definitely on some drumline.
He was pulsing the leg and everything haha!!
That’s awesome

Props to the audio guys. Never have I said "wow" to so many rimshots and single, unison hits. With a good pair of headphones, it feels like I'm there.
6:58 The tech is all like, "...damn, well that was perfect"
This whole line is insanely clean, BUT THOSE BASSES! *chef's kiss*
They all look dead serious 100% of the time but if you watch their head cam and drum cam videos they goof around and make jokes so much. What a truly beautiful experience to be a devil.
the lot and the field are two different performances entirely 🤙🏻

Absolutely _incredible_ bass line. good GOD man.
Bassline is god tier

Happens at 7:43 too
Not often you see such beautiful mastery in such a young group of people. They must be having a blast 🤘🏻
Best bass line ever..hands down..so clean

i wonder if he's aged out or if he'll be in for 2021
@@Klektic 2019 was Brandon’s ageout
Those bass line rolls are clean! Great job Blue Devils!
That bassline defies belief. Could listen to that all day.
That bass run at 1:40 my god. One of cleanest bass lines ive heard in recent years.
The drum captain...Wasnt he the kid with long hair years ago that would play with them? Is he all grown up now???
Justin Broussard yeah his first year with them was 2014
Justin Broussard yeah from 12 year old Brandon jamming out with the blue devils to him aging out as center
@@andrewchao9164 it actually is a cool story, bro. ;)
They have seen brandon grow up. It's just amazing
That bass line is literally the best thing ever
My god. That bassline. Goosebumps.
Best and most smooth bass line I've ever heard

Mine as well!
Listening to this with bass boosted head phones it the way to go
I remember the Blue Devils playing @ 1 of my high school drum line competitions & have been a fan ever since. Love these guys!!
And their shell stickers (that’s what they called them in high school) f’ing ROCK!!
I am glad someone still gets the warm ups too. It helps with getting examples for future students.
I hope Brandon sticks with the Blue Devils and maybe becomes a drum tech for them as he’s done marching DCI. The future snares can use some masterful insight and knowledge from him.
ZayProductions that’s totally awesome as he’s been part of the Blue Devils forever it seems.
ZayProductions you’re right.
Snare tech for 2022!!!!
6:07 those basses though
I moaned
bruh…
5:04 It’s BRANDON I seen videos of him when he was younger already playing in the drum line.
Ok..... And
Oh, My! ...WoW! There are so many things I love about this performance--the discipline, precision, and passion to name a few. Thank you!
Best drum line in the world that night!
Now THAT'S precision!! Kudos to these disciplined young drummers!!
DCI is a whole new sport since I aged out in 2009.
Those bass runs gave me chills it's so clean
There are 2 dev bass lines that have blown me away - 1999 and 2019.

😂😂😂😂 so they should be proud to have your stamp of approval😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Might go back and check out 94-97 BD lines from that era
The bass line is wiiiilllddd
Yes! Thanks for the quality footage :)
You're so very welcome! This is one of our favorite things to produce! Thanks for the kind words! :)
man I miss playing on a drum line...idek how this ended up on my feed, haven't watched stuff like this in forever..I will now tho!
So happy to bring some good memories back! Enjoy my friend!
Combination cool and composed synchronicity + extreme complex rudiments....these guys were killing it.😎
their tenors are so in sync dude. literally looking like robots out here

That bass line is unbelievably clean.
Still here a year later this is my favorite lot vid from dci 2019 ngl
Quality comes with discipline.
They’re really good.

Well said
Been craving some buttery smooth bass runs, thanks for delivering!!
Bassline stole the show
Best show of 2019!
5:43 5 and 1 feeling that sick groove
That’s the cleanest playing I’ve ever heard
Really? The basses were amazing but I’ve heard cleaner in terms of snare and quads
I played bass one in high school, how i miss those days
basses at 1:35
That was nice of them to cheer for the other corps at 10:12
The devils quads were over there I think, if you look close enough
I think crown was around em
The quads had an on running joke for when they played this "feature" that was just a spoke roll they would go as far away as possible and in this lot crown had just finished up so the had the crown quad line surround them while they play the spock roll.
bassline is ridiculous 🔥
I showed this to my 6th grader who is starting percussion this year. Wow, so incredibly clean.
Yay! Videos like this got us excited about the activity. Thanks for spreading the love and inspiring the youth! 🥁🙏
Those basses are other worldly
Those toms are tuned perfectly 🔥🔥

So Freaking Clean and Tight..Just AWESOME💯
Kick ass!!! It made the hair on my arms stand!!! You guys are great
Anyone know who was doing the spock rolls at 10:09? I had to put on headphones with the volume up quite a bit to hear it.

Omg that snareline 😍😍 😍😍
That opining used to be a warm up for use back in cadets, and I'm pretty sure we riped it off of the Blue Devils warmup
The snare feature is so sick
Love all the syncopations! Such a good book!
That attack at 8:29 is too good. 10/10
1:57 I hear you basses!! Smooth!
Came here from Drumline videos. I see what you mean now.
7:03 is that the Mc Nutt special I hear?
Are any of these guys coming back for 2021?
Any Cavies footage coming?
Didn't catch Cavies this year unfortunately, but I believe our friends @6amfilms did!
What happened at @10:08?
Why does brandon look so pissed
Centrist Drummer facts
He seems like that type of guy that leaves all his friends to march and then makes no new ones because he is too busy practicing
