    Great and informative Vlog Billy - And on another brighter note I passed my Cat C..Get in :) , Now to get out there and find a company will take on a new pass, sounds easy enough, or is it haha, goto keep the PMA, go round a few local companies and speak with them in person drop off CV and see what happens, got nothing to lose now, As for C+E this will come later as ( my own opinion ) i feel that some experience in a rigid is a must before going to something bigger, some will argue the fact and everyone has opinions about this, it's just my own thought on it.

    Been tramping on class 2s now for 9 years. Pros are. Get to see loads of great places in the uk. I have a bike with the truck, so I ride that on a night and run on a morning, get away from the truck when you can!, basically my own boss.
    Cons, if you’ve got a social life ie gym, football, evenings out etc. forget them, you’ve no chance of attending any appointments for doctors, dentists etc, I’m on salary, some weeks I’m on £25 per hour, other weeks £7.60 per hour depending on the hours, I try to keep them down, but sometimes there are rush jobs. When everyone in the office goes home at 4pm, and you started 4hrs before them, and will finish 3 hrs after them for no gratitude whatsoever.
    It feels like I’m knocking the job, but I really am not. I’m doing a job that I love (hiab work) for a decent company. If you’re thinking about going driving, don’t just look at the money, there’s loads of other stuff involved. There’s nothing worse than being called by the wife when there’s a major problem at home and you’re 350 miles away. If you’ve always fancied driving, give it a go, it might be for you, it might not. It is a lonely life when you’re tramping, probably better if you’re single!

    Hi Billy, good video, I've subscribed. Like you, I've always dreamed of becoming an HGV driver. 2 questions: why would anyone choose to pay, if the Bootcamp option is available? And, age: I'm (a very young, fit & healthy) 61: am I "too old"? I have no plans to retire, I can see myself working for at least 15 years. Keep up the good work!

    Maybe focus upon experiences including pay, attitude of firms, and condition of units as many will confirm, generally poor! Moped delivery drivers are now paid around £12.00/hr....awful firms are paying cons on license 600.00/week but better firms will enable £18.00-£25.00/hr

    PS I'm currently a very experienced lwb van driver, transporting motorcycles all over the UK, so not afraid of hard work or long hours. The more the better, actually. I frequently tell people that I love my job because a) I love driving b) I love travelling c) I love motorcycles (not relevant to an HGV career) & d) I'm happy with my own company - radio, podcasts, audiobooks etc. Would any of the above relate to an HGV career in your opinion?

      I would say it all relates to HGV driving mate :)

    Hi, Billy. im currently doing my class 2 through government boot camp . I've just passed my medical, so I'm assuming I'll be doing my theory next but I'm abit worried about case study test alot of people are saying it's very hard, any tips you can give me for what to revise for.

    • @billyhgvuk
      @billyhgvuk  Рік тому

      The case study is easy in my opinion. I found that the easiest. I struggled with the multiple choice the most … lol … Don’t worry about it, it’s easier than you think and it’s a question, and answer exam. (Multiple choice)

    • @billyhgvuk
      @billyhgvuk  Рік тому

      Pro’s, you get to learn different types of work. Con’s, work isn’t consistent from week to week depending on what’s out there I guess. At least with agency you can work out what you enjoy doing over time 👍
