Based on the # 1 New York Times bestseller “A Man Called Ove,” A Man Called Otto tells the story of Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks), a grump who no longer sees purpose in his life following the loss of his wife. Otto is ready to end it all, but his plans are interrupted when a lively young family moves in next door, and he meets his match in quick-witted Marisol. She challenges him to see life differently, leading to an unlikely friendship that turns his world around. A heartwarming and funny story about love, loss, and life, A Man Called Otto shows that family can sometimes be found in the most unexpected places.
The way they show their brewing friendship is profound. It's that classic "don't mess with my bestie" attitude that I adore.
It doesn’t matter it’s hybrid 😂 I love how she was like oh ok
One of the best motivational speeches I heard, was that after Otto gets back in the car.
Kudos
i agree with you
Go, Otto! We need heroes like you in every day life!
This is the most amazing scene ever! I've watched it several times, maybe because I'm going through a challenging time right now as I would imagine many of us are. Be kind and well!
What if I tell you I watched the whole movie twice and came here just to watch this scene over again?
I think anybody would be honored to have a driving lesson from Tom Hanks
Stevie Wonder taught me.
@@northlandrider5396 funny
Fiddly kidler.
Yup, especially if he really teaches on how to drive a stick shift. I've always wanted to learn but never had anyone willing to teach me.
But it should be brake then clutch if you ✋.😂
People don't realize he was nothing to lose. He was about to end his life, then realized he had to help this family. It was buying him time he didn't think he had....
Then Malcolm knocked on his door needing help to.
It’s amazing, really. Spoilers for the entire movie.
Otto felt like the one person who mattered to him was gone, and he was ready to join her. But he had more to give to the people around him. He had a neighboring family he wanted to help, there was a stray cat he saw every day that he’s welcomed into his house, he’s saved a different old man from dying on the railroads, and he’s welcomed and accepted one of his wife’s students, seeing no need to judge people for being trans.
Otto really just inherently finds purpose in helping others, a truly kind heart disguised by the misery of grief and loss. It bought him time from himself, and gave him time to understand the value of life itself.
I love this movie ;-;
@@CinnPai Well spoken.
@@concept5631 Thank you ^^
@@CinnPai Your welcome
It's amazing how nervous and frightened she is. Then when he gives her the heart to heart and she realizes that YES, I did all that shit and in the grand scheme of things driving is no where near as hard, I love that you can see how not only her face changes but her attitude. I love when that actually happens in real life.
Tom Hanks is a hell of a actor he is one of my favorite actors a man called Otto this is a fantastic movie all 10 Stars❤
I like the way her expressions went from acting stupid to crying
She’s a really good actress
She's a great actress loved the nervous part
"You are not a complete idiot!"
"Oh--that's the sweetest thing anyone has said to me in a long time!"
He only believed she was not an idiot after seeing her degrees, which I thought was pretty sad. (Plenty of idiots went to college). But the speech helped her get out of her way.
After that scene it took me like 5 solid minutes to stop crying
I am not a cryer but I bawled when I saw this in the theater and I even well up when I think about it or talk about it. It is also a great moment in the novel.
Saw this movie on a flight home today. My daughter said it was a sad movie and I was thinking that the ending would be sad, which it was, but not the whole movie. I loved it though.
Definitely one of his best scenes ever. 🎉🎉🎉❤😂
This part of the movie is an ode to human connection and great acting! Bravo ❤mi incredible MARIANA! You make us proud to be Mexican. La mejor actriz international! Punto. Que tale to! ❤
I didn't know her, I was dumbfounded by her acting skills. Her facial expressions are truly amazing.
The irony of the guy in the truck telling Otto to calm down after he was just playing the bongos on his horn.
I think it’s fine to give a quick, “Hey, it’s green,” tap to someone, but once it’s clear something is wrong, you knock it off.
As someone who had a vehicle breakdown at a stoplight, I related so hard to Marisol in this. You’re trying to focus, panicked, and being harassed by impatient people.
The forehead wipe is what gets me.
Gosh, I remember when my mom learned that my grandma (her mother-in-law) didn't know how to drive. She announced she was going to teach her, and the men in the family were all freaking out, saying grandma could NOT drive. My mom thought they were all being jerks... then she took my grandma to drive in an empty parking lot, on a Sunday. She quickly learned why grandma didn't drive. Turned out everyone had taken a turn trying to teach her, and she had freaked out and damaged every single person's car over the course of about 35ish years.
I read the book, A Man Called Ove. It was so good, l read it twice. Would love to see this movie 🎥.
This one of my all time favorite movies ever!
This is a great scene and it's a pretty interesting one. On one hand he seems like a very judgmental person that puts people down a lot, but at his core he's someone that has a pretty healthy attitude of not worrying what others think and a belief in having self confidence that you/she can figure things out.
this scene made me cry
"I cant stand one idiot teaching another how to drive......You!"
Lady "eh?"
Damn I love this scene...
The world needs more Ottos and less assholes in giant diesel pickups
Yep, dude, could have gotten out and asked if she needed help rather than kept honking his horn.
@@goldengirl5165how would he know what she needed help with or if she needed help. As drivers, we tend to think everyone else is a bad driver. That’s what the pickup driver was doing, just assuming the other person is a loser that doesn’t know what they’re doing.
@tylermorro6663 because the first time he honked his horn, she didn't move. Then, the second time he honked his horn, she still had not moved. The fact he kept honking his horn and she didn't move is a pretty good indication that she could be having mechanical or medical issues. He could have gotten out and checked on her instead of honking nonstop.
He was old and when your old you sometimes are crabby but he has a kind heart
I was so heart warming (even though it’s kinda scary also lol).
This scene was filmed on Merchant Street and 4th Street in Ambridge PA.
2:51 Look at Otto being aggressive!
a wonderful movie!! he just loved her wife so much
I'm having my practical test tomorrow and I'm 35 years old, mother of a 6 month old and moved to another country for a job - watching this to get some motivation 😅
I like this guy 😂
Only Tom Hanks could be so nicely mean.
💌 LOVE this movie.
Otto: *calls someone an idiot*
Also Otto: *Drives a Cruze*
Tom Hanks playing the miserable old prick with the heart of gold. He is truly a national treasure
I love his eyes,like emerald
Yes, he has beautiful eyes!❤😍
“Knitwit Husband”💀🤣
It doesn't matter, it's a hybrid.
😂😂😂
El hijo no está tan mal también el padre no está mal🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I read the book "Second Life Uwe" on which the movie is based, but I'll exactly watch the movie too.
Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors, all his movies are great.
He's a nice guy.
You can rely on it!!
hearing Marisol say "que bueno" broke me
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
So, is the premise of this movie "Starring Tom Hanks as Clint Eastwood"?
Lol not completely inaccurate
Should have put a sign on the car.. "STUDENT DRIVER".
"You have given birth to two children, soon it will be three. You have come here from a country very far away. You learned a new language, you got yourself an education and a nitwit husband and you are holding that family together. You will have no problem learning how to drive. My God, the world is full of complete idiots who managed to figure it out and you are NOT A COMPLETE IDIOT. so: clutch - shift - gas - drive....."
perfect motivational speech. again referred to in his goodbye-letter when he writes "...cause YOU are NOT an idiot." ;)
Good movie.
Otto pulled the guy out of the driver seat while the truck probably wasnt in park, the truck probably wouldve moved forward when that happened.
In addition to that, the driver would probably fight back, which could have lead to messy situation, with the police and stuff...
2:35 badass
never even realize chevy cruze had manual cars
Yea, what he said.
Anyone know the song the truck was playing?
Hell on the highway by Summer 88
@@kingfrost1769Thank you
I live on the street this scene was filmed
You can drive stick you can drive anything.
Yup. How I learned
This is a great movie. I love his movies I don’t movie I love is the week called the terminal the other half is good movies is cast of it cost of a cast away
She looks like Taissa Farmiga
Error detected: at 2:10 while he is teaching Marisol to drive, it is possible to see the date on the Cruze's dashboard display: 02/19/2018, however Sonya died on 04/13/2018, that is, when he was teaching Marisol, Was Sonya still alive?
Don’t know anything about car clocks but if this was his vehicle he could have manually set it to always be a time before Sonya’s passing. A time when he was still happy, and symbolically signaling he’s stuck in the past, unable to get past that date.
Great scene, really love it. But if i could make some changes here, she hits the car and the man inside is adam sandler in a jeansvest at that opens the door and runs out to a scared pregnant women. and that ottto jumps out of a car and hits sandler, then when sandler is on the ground otto stretches out and hand and says "get up" and they both speaks a little and comes up that they were in iraq both and suddenly the women hears it and ask alot of questions to him, and otto wants to forget iraq so he stops the car and snaps and screams " i dont want to talk about what i saw over there, i see it every day in my head". then she be like sorry otto and hugs him while he cries.
- i am pretty good on comming up on ideas, i'm writing a script right now about the nfl star aaron hernandez that i want to put into a tv-serie like the Dahmer one. I already write and have a vision of it.
What the fuck did I just read?

What car Otto is driving?
Chevy, but I can't tell what model.
chevy cruze
dont you have to have learner plates on a car with a learner in the USA? you do in most countries, to signify to the other drivers to be careful and patient... or at least warn them that the learner driver may drive badly.
For schools, yes
It should be Brake 1st then clutch. 😂
Men I get a knob on my throat seen that complement

Don't you have to display a learner plate in the states ?
Most states optional, unless your a licensed driving instructor. Then the vehicle is marked.
Never heard of “learner plates”… and in this scene the neighbor is teaching her how to drive. I guess if those do exist they must be a registered driving instructor? 🤷🏻♀️
Tge truck can just go around
That is why woman is so important...it's not just a word that can be passed around to anyone...you bring a life in this world...with your hormones give you ups and downs...holding the family whole. From a daughter to a mother....woman is such a unique, beautiful, simple yet completely complex creature. That not a single gay or transgender can understand.
Are you ok ?
Hey, you know what…like the honking driver said, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, “Calm down, old man.”
Was the car displaying learning to drive stickers? Is it a requirement in the US?
Someone else asked this.
Professional driving schools use cars w/Student Driver signage but regular citizens aren't required.
& yeah, best to avoid lifted pickups that are usually asshole operated..
You can usually tell new drivers in the US they’re usually very young looking and with a scared older person in the passenger seat 😅
Nah, this scene is bullshit. He should have taught her the basics of stick in an empty parking lot instead of griefing every other driver on the road around her.
It’s a comedy drama. He’s not a perfect character.
@@thefirstbourne149
I know he's not. That's why I pointed out one of his flaws, i.e., one of the things that makes him imperfect.
en man som heter ove was a much better film. i can stand this, but i cannot agree that it is better.
Otto is lucky that guy didn’t have a knife on him. If he was stabbed I would’ve just sat there laughing.
American = gun.
Original movie much better
Who cares 😂
@@markyboy214 well obviously No one does lol
Book was better
I know, I don't get why america needs to do remakes of really good original movies
