I've never really considered one method over the other as being yarn-specific but I do think that if you have a yarn that likes to split, the second method might be easier. Since you're not digging through the two legs and pulling yarn through from back to front, it might be easier. But in general, no, I wouldn't say that one is better than the other. I just think the pick up THEN knit method *feels* fancier! 🤣

Good video but it would have been better if you didn't use fuzzy yarn. But still,a really good tutorial.
