Thanks Sally! And that's a great question. I've never really considered one method over the other as being yarn-specific but I do think that if you have a yarn that likes to split, the second method might be easier. Since you're not digging through the two legs and pulling yarn through from back to front, it might be easier. But in general, no, I wouldn't say that one is better than the other. I just think the pick up THEN knit method *feels* fancier! 🤣
Can someone please point me in the direction of a video that shows me how to cast on mid row. For example? Pickup and knit 2 cast on 4, skip 4 pick up and knit 2. 😢
I think a cast on method that would work here would probably be the Backwards Loop cast on method. This allows you to cast on mid-row without picking up stitches and can be done with the RS or the WS facing (sound like you'd probably want it to be a RS cast on). I don't have a video for this technique but if you search "Backwards Loop Cast On" here on UA-cam I'm sure you'd find one. Good luck!
The second method is a great idea. Thank you.
great tutorial, thank you, will try both methods
Thanks for the tutorial. I usually use the first method for pickup. I think I like that second method using the bars. I’ll have to give that a try.
You're welcome! Please do - and let me know what you think!
Thank you! Just the tutorial I needed!!
Yay! I'm glad it was helpful to you my friend!
Wow very clean and knit.
Thank you so much
Great video. Thanks.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much !
You're so welcome!
Outstanding video. Is there any preference for method. Such as type of yarn etc

Great video thank you
You're welcome, Joan!
Good video but it would have been better if you didn't use fuzzy yarn. But still,a really good tutorial.
