    I'm a self taught knitter who's only come to knitting in later life with the advent of grandchildren. This video is absolutely brilliant. It's so detailed and has enabled me to pick up and knit the stitches for a collar, making a join that's all but invisible. Something I can be proud of. The only downside now is that I want to go back and redo all previous pieces! Thank you so much.

Watched you for a second and wow!!!! Right away my brain lighted up. Got it on first try. Thank. From now on only one person; YOU. I"LL BE KNITTING MUCH MORE. THANK YOU.....BLESSINGS.

    This is the best video I have seen for picking up stitches on a neckband. I love it. I am a self taught knitter (starting at age 41) and a perfectionist, so I really struggle with things like this (and shoulder seaming). I go to a local knitting store once a week for help with my knitting. When I ask the store owner about a different technique for something, such as shoulder seams without the stair step, or left leaning and right leaning decreases, she says "you've been watching youtube videos again haven't you?" I haven't been able to go to her store for 4 weeks because NSW went into total lockdown. I am so glad I found this video. I have been struggling with how to finish off a jumper for my grandson for nearly 4 weeks. The store owner told me how to knit up stitches, but the way she told me, I just didn't get it. I finished my first jumper in May this year and she very kindly sewed it up for me in the end because I was so frustrated I was ready to give up knitting for good, and she also knew how important that jumper was to me, because it was for my grandson. This video will also help me finish off a cardigan I knitted for my grandson almost a year ago.

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  2 роки тому

      I love this story Christine, thank you for sharing. I will give you a little hint. I have tons of videos that you would like on finishing and other jumper construction details. All you have to do is do a search for the technique you are looking for and add my name. Like - Mattress stitch suzanne bryan. And it will pop up for you. Happy knitting. If we lived closer, I would certainly help you.

    Thank you so much for this video! I'm picking up stitches for my first sweater neck, and learned where and how to pick up stitches by watching your video. My stitches for the flat part are totally invisible, like you said they would be, and your advice about calculating the number of stitches around the curve and along the edge of the rows was spot-on. Now I have a beautiful neckline and it's all thanks to you! So, thank you, thank you, thank you! (I'll be back to learn how to pick up the arm stitches next!)

    Hi Suzanne and Family. MIDNIGHT IN FRANCE. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019. LOVE, ADORE, ADMIRE YOU and VALUE your videos. You are truly amazing and blest to TEACH. Ladders and steps have been my nightmare, never had a pretty finish to shoulders and necklines. bulky big onions. who cared, no one could see!!! Now I realize my horrible mistake. I have to remember that the needle has to go IN THE MIDDLE of the stitch and under the cast off stitch. I'm so grateful to you for all these videos, wonderful for a dummy like me. I can never take my eyes of your videos, NOT ALWAYS. My young kitty decided, just at that crucial moment when I'm in the deepest concentration, to walk on the keybaord!! well, i'm taken to another video with no interest. So I have to re-start your video. Thanks for sharing and caring. Hugs from your addicted fan.

      ... also would like to know if the knitting works should or should not be ironed.. at times with ironing, I find it easier at the joining stages or to straighten out folded picot edgings or to straighten out botton-hole strips etc.. but am left wondering if that makes the works too flat or even disfiguered

    Thank you. I myself haven' t been knitting very long. My husbands grandmother made gorgeous Icelandic sweaters. His mom gave me one that was started by his grandma but never finished before she passed. Really wanted to finish it for her the MIL for Christmas. The only thing left is the neck. Your video has made me feel confident that I can do this!

      What a lovely idea to finish grandmother's sweater for your MIL, I'm sure she'll be thrilled!! If you're interested, I have a Facebook page (same name), filled with warm and supportive knitters of every level and we just love helping new knitters.

    As always CONGRATS. Fantastic video. So well explained and in detail. Zooming was perfect. I spend my time watching and appreciating your videos and admiring your CALM VOICE, such a pleasure to listen to. Let me be honest, I picked up stitches all wrong throughout my "knittinghood". Now I realize why the band was ugly and bulky. It makes me giggle now. It's time to repair my mistakes and start with a swatch using 2 colors of yarn as shown in your video. Wish I didn't live so far from you 🗼🚀 Suzanne I LOVE every video of yours. They are short easy to understand and made for all ages. You truly are gifted, exceptional and a blessing to me. Thanks a million for sharing and caring. 👍👍👍🧚‍♂️💕 hugs n kisses. Your fan.

      Yes, proper finishing makes all the difference. No matter how wonderful your knitting is, the final little details can doom your project if not worked properly. Happy knitting.
