What an absolutely *magnificent* tutorial! A perfect example of why Roxanne Richardson is my primary UA-cam knitting professor. She gets deep down into what I think of as the "engineering" of this art,. It is hugely helpful to my learning and _understanding_ of the function of all the various holes and loops and bumps and stuff (I consider myself an advanced novice knitter so still have lots to learn).
Now if you'll excuse me, I must go "pick up and knit" some collar stitches for the cabled-to-the-hilt sweater I've been devoting myself to for months.

Excellent video. I like the way you zoom the work so the areas where you are picking up stitches are easy to see. You are a great teacher.

Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial!!! Picking up stitches has been the bane of my knitting life and I've always felt it didn't look quite right. This tutorial made the techniques so clear and I see what I've been doing wrong. I'm so grateful for this tutorial.

Thank you! I'm working on a hooded cowl and needed to pick up 54 stitches along a slip stitch edge and your suggestion of adding a marker ever so often to help evenly pick up the correct number was VERY helpful!

This was absolutely brilliant, very detailed. I have been knitting for many years and used to get my mum to pick up my stitches for me or avoid patterns with picking up in. Making a matinee set for my friend and have no one to pick up my stitches now so I needed to do it myself. My first attempts were untidy as I didn't really know what I was meant to do. Found this video and watched a couple of times and then had it playing at the same time and I have managed to get a neat line where I picked up the stitches with no holes. Thanks

Thanks I’m left handed but knit normally but just cannot get to grips when it says pick up an knit stitches for button bands or neck bands get in an awful mess but now I see where to actually push the needle through the work an just make a loop I think I will find it easier to use a crochet hook to pull through and transfer to needle hope you keep this on as, hav knitted a long time but have never been happy if had to pick up stitches and it’s never looked right , I will refer to you when need to pick up stitches thank you very much
