You are right. I was among the procrastinators😢. I wanted to have 80% of everything before starting up and Iended up with wasted years. I didnt take social media serious either.
Limited budget was an issue, yes, but my main issue was out sourcing. I didnt want to outsource anything because of the stress of pick up, drop off and not having a definite answer for clients as per delivery. So i waited until i had virtually every kind of machine i needed😢.
Eliminating the whole outsourcing option made me more serious in expanding my skill and more confident on my capabilities that I wouldnt depend on someone else's time line while dealing with a customer.
That manual machine is important for those in developing countries with epileptic power supply. Thanks to electric motor manufacturers, it can be used as an electric machine too. I am notva fan of manual machines though😂.
An electronic or computerised sewing machine is a game changer. Makes life easier with multiple decorative stitches, buttonhole making, easy fixing of zippers, blind hemming, sewing of stretchy fabrics and even small basic monogramming.
Overlock machine is a must have, be it manual or electric. The finishing and professional touch it gives one's work cannot be over emphasized.
A box iron is a must have for people in developing countries with epileptic power supply. One can also use an old/damaged electric iron on a camp gas cylinder or kerosene stove covered with aluminium roofing sheet for ironing too. Necessity is the mother of invention right😂.

I have a question. As a buisnes person looking to grow, how do you do with sizes? Especially it you outsource the sewing to all those manufacturers. Do you go ahead and make all sizes or wait for people to order before you sew their sizes

Here's my suggestion:
Consider your target market, what is their average size range? Make about 3 sizes within that range, you can create your own size chart within that range and hand it over to the manufacturer if you're outsourcing.
When you advertise your pieces state the sizes available and include that other sizes/or colours are available on request only.
