Want to set up at home using my dinning area but I need my house to look neat too cos client will be coming to fit. I’m actually sewing from home but I always take it to client home after fitting any need for alterations requires I go home deal with it and bring it again. I sew from home yet I get little or no patronage. In fact since I finished my training and started from home 5 months ago, it’s only one patronage I have had. It’s frustrating. I keep sewing for myself and sampling at the front of my house yet no patronage and I don’t sample everyday because I don’t have money to buy Materials to sew and display. Sometimes I display my work, 3 times a month. Yet no patronage. Am tired and am losing confidence in this work. I intended going for upgrade but I don’t have the finance to do that. I was thinking if I look for a shop and borrow money to rent. Maybe if I get a shop I’ll have customers. But am scared that I might face little or no patronage hence inability to pay my next store rent. And that would mean going back home. Am considering using the money I have to get a manual weaving machine to reduce expenses. Pls ma I don’t know what to do. Am confused and depressed. My mum is on my neck to get a shop but am not feeling good about the idea considering the fact that I don’t have customers. Pls advice me ma.

I have always worked from home for 30 years. I tried having a shop but realised all my money went into rent and transportation costs.
As for skills you need to be an ardent learner. Because in college you are taught basic skills. The rest you will learn on the job

I'm glad to read this.
As for measurement, Google UK size charts (because more people in Nigeria use this), then modify it to yours(especially the hip and burst circumference, because our body structure in Africa is quite different).
You can then create your own size chart which you will send to clients before they place an order. I hope this helps.
