Yes they are, you're absolutely right. It's kinda cool. Mack used to build small trailers and railroad cabs, but they eventually started to build theme rides and build the park as a kind of Disneyland to show the off. Over time, the rides they designed got faster and more daring, and so did the attractions in the park.
Hey a employee of Efteling here Thanks for visiting our park ❤️ Efteling is not something you should look for in terms of extremely scary and wild rides Efteling is always about beauty and presentation first (especially the four dark rides we have) Not to mention as a whole the park tries to let everyone have fun instead of cater only to young teens to adults

Geister Rikscha in Phantasialand is the last dark ride left over from the 90s or something. There were multiple dark rides there that - except for that one - have all been replaced. Thus it is obviously outdated and not scary or thrilling in any way. I am not sure if they are going to replace it, but the place is pretty small so not sure what would fit there. Either way we usually ride it to chill out after a coaster marathon, get some food and then go back to the thrill rides. It's kinda just a meme at this point and probably still pretty cool for children.
It's actually even older as it first opend in 1981. It also is the longest Darkride in whole europe and the oldest stil active attraction in Phantasialand. But you're right in that it's ,ostly just a meme by now and people use it to chill in between the Rollercoasters. Or to make out with a partner 🙊
@@Isabelle-hv6ny So sad the Hollywood Tour is gone, it was great! "Eine gemützliche Fahrt für die ganze Familie/A cozy ride for the whole family" and then it begins with a sudden drop in the beginning to scare the kids.
Phantasialand is definitely the most beautiful park, that’s for sure. All of their attractions are so well thought out and so lovingly designed to keep the park competitive despite its small size.
As a dutch person ive got to say that the efteling is maintaining attractions, food stalls etc. all the time! So its really hard to get a good day to come to the efteling. As you may have seen the parking place is a mess. Pretty funny but im sure after a couple of years it will be as magical as it was years back! Edit: Noo you forgot Max & Moritz!
I adore the park but a little bit of magic is lost at the moment due to all the construction around the park. Walking up to the entrance doesn’t hit like it used to at the moment. Danse Macabre (approximately in the middle of the park) isn’t done yet. Last visit, they were still working on Piraña. All for building towards the future of course, but there was definitely a lot of construction going on.
@@jarmoliebrand2005 Yeah, and imo. The biggest problem is that when a maintained thing finishes, another one gets maintained. Last week i was in toverland, also an dutch theme park. And i didn’t see any attractions being maintained. Not even food stalls and so on. But efteling still has a special place in my heart!
BRO I was watching this, thinking "I wonder if the Efteling will be in here" and when I saw the entrance I literally almost jumped with happiness, I love that park so much, I go there a few times every month Funfact: at 8:42 you see the sleeping beauty, she just got out of renovation, and they made her watermelons bigger, so much so that it reached the national news, people went to the fairytale just to see her melons, because they found it funny (so do I) Also, the roller coasters at the Efteling aren't that great, I agree, that park is better for enjoying the themes than enjoying the rides
Efteling is amazing and I keep going back to it annually. The coasters aren’t too extreme, but that’s not why I’m there anyway. I’m there for the atmosphere. And the rides all have atmosphere. And just walking around in general feels amazing. I’m personally not the biggest thrill seeker and value theming over thrills. But perhaps a new flagship coaster in the coming years could offer an overall better mix of thrills and theme.
I love the Geister Rikscha at Phantasialand 😍It’s super old and not scary at all, but ever since my childhood, it's been a tradition for me to ride it first and last every time I visit. I almost had my first kiss with my (now) ex-boyfriend in there, but we were both too shy. Ah, so many beautiful memories are tied to it. Another plus: you never have to wait in line. However, that could be a downside, because if hardly anyone rides it anymore, why keep it running? If the Geister Rikscha is ever closed and replaced with something new, my heart will break, and I will be very, very sad 😔
If you ever go back to the Netherlands, consider going to Walibi! It's not as themed as Efteling, Phantasialand or Europapark, but it has some really good, thrilling rollercoasters! It even has Untamed which is considered one of the best coasters in the world! Kinda sad to see you didn't get to enjoy Efteling as much, since it's supposed to be a magical experience, though I understand that the jump from Energylandia is kinda huge. Hopefully you give it another shot and enjoy it for what it is (magical and beautiful) and aren't as bummed by what it isn't trying to be (thrilling)! Anyways: amazing video! Can't wait for future content!
Thank you! And yes I def need to give most of these parks another go seperate from other and even some more. There are too many great theme parks to explore 😅
And hit up plopsaland de panne, it has 1 world class coaster (a big part of the coaster community see this as the best coaster in europe) and then 2 more which are good two, but thats about it
@@user-qz2ld3vt2d well, thrill seekers isn't Efteling's target audience, so it doesn't make sense for them to put down anything more thrilling than Python or Baron. To make matters worse: Efteling is only allowed a certain amount of guests per year, and it looks like it might reach that amount this year, and it's only august. Efteling has literally no reason to start attracting a whole new category of guests, because the park literally isn't allowed to handle the amount of guests it would have if coaster enthusiasts came. Efteling is a fairy tale, and a thrill coaster just doesn't really fit in with that. They have Python just so teens and thrill lovers have something to do at the park, and with Baron now also being there, I doubt we'll see a real thrill coaster coming anytime soon. They have a new type of ride opening in 2025, Danse Macabre, which looks cool, but it probably means that a new ride will come 2027 at the earliest, though I would find 2028/29 more likely.
I really hope you get to see the Europa Park again. I went there with my family usually about 6 or 7 times a year, we used to all-year-passes. But they've gotten more expensive and we kids are studying now... but it's still super fun. It was nice seeing the park from the perspective of someone other than us, so thank you for that. Also, if you do the Europapark again, I can really recommend the Rulantica water/theme-park right next to it, which was built by the owners of the Europapark too. It's really nice there, but go in summer so you get to see the outside area as well! I hope you make another video then, because I absolutely enjoyed this one, thank you!❤
I have got an anual pass for europapark and it’s GREAT! But I feel you. Every trip there is super exhausting even if you only do the chill rides. Great video tho!
I am from near Cologne thats why im in phantasialand at least once a year. For me Taron is the best roller coaster ive been on and geister ritscha, the scary ride there, is an all time classic. I mean its understandable for me that you felt bored, but i had grown up with this ride and i had so much fun on it and because its like the only thing older than me there, its like an constant in my life. Everything changed around it but Geister Ritscha was always the same. From when i was scared when i was a child, over having my first date with my girlfriend after getting the drivers license to smuggling wine with my friends on it as i got older. Always when im here im having the best time of my life.
Seeing you go to the Efteling is amazing! It was my childhood, I would go there all the time. It really has a special place in my heart and I hope it also has made one in yours. Nice video btw! Note: 9:12 I think you mean the next 10 years 😭😭
Glad you enjoyed Europapark. As I'm from SW Germany it's basically a religion to me hahaha. Cool that you gave Wodan such a good rating, I know many people who don't like it too much and think that it's hella underrated, as it has incredible flow. Really excited to go myself sometime the next couple of weeks, to finally ride Voltron.
@@reio_riisna Very good… Efteling is not about thrills but about the detailing and vibes. If you missed the dark-rides you seriously missed out. Can I ask which ones you did?
@@MCMmonkeEfteling too has to work with a height limit. But I believe they have permission to build something above the tree line. Plus, the can’t get too noisy. The residents of Kaatsheuvel must be able to live in peace and quiet. And the coasters and such mustn’t be heard in the quieter, family oriented parts of the park, like the fairy tale forest. The park also needs to be covered in 90% greenery at all times.
Makes sense but they definitly go higher then alton which has the same restrictions especially in rides like baron, python and the thai house (all of which i have ridden)
Fantastic video mate. You got my sub! Btw, I will be going to the Efteling next Thursday (I'm Dutch btw). I know exactly what you mean. Efteling is a greatly themed park. Not many thrillrides indeed. Tip: You should go to Walibi Holland once. Some great coasters over there. Cheers mate!
Interesting you picked De Efteling, to find the most exiting coasters, kinda not the park for that. Walibi Holland has the thrill coasters, De Efteling is for the whole family, and more to take you into the fairy tales and not into massive thrills.
From a European perspective, I feel like Energylandia is one of the more… American (mostly looking at Cedar Fair and Six Flag here) theme parks in Europe. Outside of something like the Walibi chain perhaps. Some great, thrilling coasters, so if that’s your focus in theme park visits, it’s probably going to be good. As for theming… It’s all over the place (but at least it’s not non existent, I guess). Except for some of the newer rides. But compare that to the more established European top parks and the Energylandia has a lot of work to do. It can become quite something (it is already a very popular destination) if they keep improving overall quality and don’t pump out new rides for the sake of new rides. Yes, you may be park with the joint most roller coasters (or maybe they’re even in first place on their own know, I don’t know), but considering a lot of those coasters seem very redundant, it’s definitely not in the conversation to become the coaster capital. Maybe the coaster capital in Europe, but even then, there is some pretty steep competition. I mean, they have two junior boomerangs and… how many truly kiddie coasters, actually? Their top 4 or something is stacked, but when you look beyond that, it mostly looks like quantity over quality, which I find a shame. And it’s not really a trap many European parks tend to fall into. It also seems like the park could use some ‘quality of life’ improvements, so to speak. Like with the queue lines and such. My theming standards may be high, since I’m used to the Efteling being my home park. I personally value immersive theming over big coasters and I love the Efteling for it. And I think I’d there’d be other European parks I’d love for it too. I really can’t wait for Danse Macabre to open. It looks so cool.
You should absolutely do Tripsdrill too if you come back for Europa Park! It's like Efteling, but with better rides. Just take a day off in between to relax and you're good to go.
@@vhheroicis6131 I can second that. Efteling is a GREAT family park with IMHO flat out THE best dark ride in Europe followed by another great one, especially considering it's age. (Symbolica and Droomflucht) Tripsdrill still has the flair of a family run rural park, but packs 6 coasters, 2 of which are worthy of far bigger parks. (Karacho and Hals über Kopf) And if you visit on a weekday outside of the holydays it is more or less walk on throughout the day.
If you ever feel like going for another good one then check out Vienna Prater in Austria! No all-inclusive ticket, so no entry fee, you only pay for the rides you want to check out yourself, which dramatically reduces the queue length. Also has an Olympia rollercoaster with the 5 rings being 5 loopings! ;-) Next to it is a giant park for walks and an artificial island on the danube river for proper drinks, eating, shisha and so on.

Visited all four of these several times. Europa Park is now my favorite park in Europe overtaking Phantasialand after Voltron opened. If you're looking for new parks to go to, the obvious ones would be PortAventura and Alton Towers, but I would really recommend Liseberg in Sweden or possibly Tivoli Gardens. Or if you're looking for the best roller coaster, I really can't decide what the best roller coaster in Europe is between Zadra, Voltron, Ride to Happiness at Plopsaland De Panne in Belgium, or Taiga at Linnanmaki in Finland. And I can't say enough how happy I am that you didn't go to Disney Paris.
The ride you wanted to get on but was in maintenance (Talocan) actually fully broke very recently, you can find a video online of the right side arm spinning in a not so stable way
At first I was thinking of going there too during this trip, but it would've been too much travelling so I'm gonna go to these parks sometime later for sure :)

Yesss, my home park Efteling! It’s such a great place to just… be in. Without even doing any rides. It’s nice to be in this sprawling wooded area. To be in the fairy tale forest. To soak up the nice vibes with the peaceful ambient music. And the rides that are present. I love them all (almost… not a fan of carnaval festival… I know I’m not the target audience, but I don’t like the cartoony feel compared to the rest of the park). The dark rides are the highlights. The coasters are really good for being mostly family oriented. Don’t expect the most intense rides here. Efteling isn’t that kind of park. And I don’t mind. There’s something for everyone, truly. It’s a place I can get immersed in and get lost in whenever I’m there. Even though I visit annually (and sometimes twice a year), it always feels unbelievable to actually be there again. It’s as if you’re dreaming. As if it’s too good to be true. The entrance experience (which is a bit ruined by construction now) is immaculate. You should definitely come back for the dark rides. And for Danse Macabre. And for the complete, reimagined entrance experience once the grand hotel is finished.

Taron is the best. What you didnt mention but I personally found most intruiging about it, is the fact that you are going through a volcano and not only parts of an old village but an actual old village. Like I literally rushed through Skyrim, how cool is that? It's like unbeatable. Atmosphere will always beat stats like max speed, max acceleration or whatever. Btw, how did you like Black Mamba? It has a similarly nice atmosphere, albeit toned down.

Fact about China Town in Phantasialand. The restaurant and the hotel (yes, there is also a hotel, and in Africa too) were build by workers from China who are specialized to build the tratitional style. Also the materials were brought from china. So, its original!
Couple of years ago, friends and I went to the park and they talked me into going on that mystery tower - well knowing that I am afraid of heights and speed and that I cannot even look down when staying on a chair or ride in a speeding car. However I made it all through the waiting line, and once we entered the main chamber with that "machine" in it, I said Im out and am not going to go on that thing. After some back and forth with the friends, I signaled to staff, that I want to extract and they took me and open the emergency exit for me. That moment light came into that otherwise very murky and dark lit area and other people saw the machine that powers that freefall tower and also wanted to be extracted and not go onto it. :) saved the waiting line behind us quite a few minutes :D
Speedrunning a theme park can be fun, but not if you want to experience a theme park and it's athmosphere... 😉 When you come back to NL, please come back to my favorite place: The Efteling. It's main focus has always been to be a family park, for the complete family. And it's just wonderfull! Yes, the roller coasters are not best of the world, but the theming and storytelling is always great! And.... there is a new scary dark ride coming this October! It's called Dance Macabre. A completely new experience developed by Intamin, which Intamin calls "The Dynamic Motion Stage". So hope to see you back in NL!
The "Dinosaur" was actually a dragon. In Phantasialand there's a total of like 6/7 dragons walking around. Children can get a stamp from them and for every ride they do and then get something at the end of the day.
when i was in phantasialand once i had a average waiting line time of 1 minute (there was literally only 1 ride that had a waiting time longer than that) however at that time the fly coaster in rougburg wasn't there yet
I went to Eurodisney Paris 30 years ago, when it just had opened and I was 16. I got food poisoning from my very last meal at the park, a cheese infused hot dog. That 8 hour bus ride back home to Germany was a grueling experience. No idea how I survived that. Luckily I managed to not puke and not go to the toilet. Guess I have to consider myself lucky that it didn't happen at the beginning of the 3 day stay there.
9:15 If you want to see a whole theme park about German fairytales, go to Marquartstein Fairytale Adventure Park (in German: Märchen-Erlebnispark Marquartstein (say that 3 times! XD)). I live about 30 minutes from there and it is really beautiful! It is right next to the Alps. Half on a hill, half in the woods.
Cool video! And i am glad you enjoyed efteling too! It's not too thrilling, but it's a nature park. They only build on 11% of their space, and can't build above 30meters. It's very close to the Kaatsheuvel living area and another nature park, so they had to put the rollercoasters in the back I hope you did the darkrides symbolica, fata morgana & Droomvlucht
Thanks! And yeah I didn't know what to expect of Efteling before I went there but I was so pleasantly surprised. Very nice park, just don't go in expecting very thrilling rollercoasters (they do have some really good themeing on Baron and the water ride tho)
I’m very surprised you didn’t go to Tivoli in Denmark. It’s a beautiful fairytale park with ballets and concerts every Friday. You should check it out. I would also highly recommended Djurs Sommerland in Denmark too. Both very neat places
I have so much nostalgia with the Efteling. I really have so many good memories of it. We go there all the time 😂😂. Then I suddenly feel a bit younger again. I am not really into rollercoasters as much anymore because I became sick after it. I did to them before always with friends. I loved them
Efteling is definitely a park more for families with children. I myself prefer going to Toverland for the fantasy vibe but if you want thrills you got Walibi for that.
Phantasialand, arguably one off the most popular theme parks in Europe doesn't even give you refreshments like the sparkling mist on hot days. Recently went there and it was more about surviving than having fun. I had so many great experiences there but that day was awfull, and that for such a hugh price..
europa park is probably my favorite theme park as a kid. going home from vacation in france and having a day or two in europa park was so much fun. other good theme parks, faarup sommerland in denmark and heide park in germany
By the way, you entriely missed Crazy Bats, the VR Indoor Coaster made by Vekoma. Has a really nice ride duration of 4 minutes and i love it to chill out on
you should definetly consider going to sweden for liseberg, one of the premier theme parks in europe in my opinion, it is probably the best i’ve ever seen
Tovarland gave me whiplash, though. Figuratively... The new area around Fenix is lovely, albeit a bit barren, but the other areas are screaming for help with their clusterf*** of a theme. And apart from the wing coaster there was really nothing special about it. I was especially disappointed by Troy. It is in a way the spiritual father of Wodan, being built by GCI the year before. Yet it didn't feature any airtime or otherwise distinctive features. Just boring. If you are nearby Venlo drop in for half a day, but otherwise I wouldn't bother again...

The Phantasialand video was the first one I saw and I have to say, I really like your editing style. Very nice videos :)
Thank you so much!
So you did Efteling but you didn’t do any of the dark rides? No Droomvlucht, Fata Morgana or Symbolica?
I did some! but I had no footage of it so it's not in the video sryyy :D
I forgot to say, some attractions have malfunctions a couple times a day. But that is always fixed very fast. (In toverland)
if your in the efteling hotel and buy tickets with your room you can enter 1 hour before everyone
BRO I was watching this, thinking "I wonder if the Efteling will be in here" and when I saw the entrance I literally almost jumped with happiness, I love that park so much, I go there a few times every month
Funfact: at 8:42 you see the sleeping beauty, she just got out of renovation, and they made her watermelons bigger, so much so that it reached the national news, people went to the fairytale just to see her melons, because they found it funny (so do I)
Also, the roller coasters at the Efteling aren't that great, I agree, that park is better for enjoying the themes than enjoying the rides
hahahaha the fact they made her boobs bigger lmaoo that's so funny :DD But yeah Efteling was amazing, really loved the themeing all around
@@reio_riisna I'm happy you did, it was nice seeing you enjoy it! One dat I hope to be working there as a decorator
Was there once or twice but that's all i needed. I prefer Walibi and even rank Toverland higher
The rollercoasters in the Efteling are all really good, they just aren’t monstrous world class thrill machines like Energylandia’s top 2
That comment really made me smile, thanks for sharing. I love Gister Rikscha too, even though it's honestly quite boring 😄
Geister Rikscha is based
Geister Rikscha is the perfect ride to just calm down and relax for a bit
@@TheLund182 Hehe, you're welcome ❤ I'm glad I made you smile with my story 😊
Was about to say the exact same thing😂 You if you want fast rollercoasters in the Netherlands go to Walibi. Efteling is insanely well themed tho
And hit up plopsaland de panne, it has 1 world class coaster (a big part of the coaster community see this as the best coaster in europe) and then 2 more which are good two, but thats about it
I wish efteling would just buy 1 world class thrill coaster. They dont need more than that, but it would bring a lot of coaster fans to the park.

Really excited to go myself sometime the next couple of weeks, to finally ride Voltron.

In the Efteling the reason you hear no roller coaster is that we have a rule that roller coasters aren’t allowed above the trees
i thought that was alton towers 💀
@@MCMmonkeEfteling too has to work with a height limit. But I believe they have permission to build something above the tree line. Plus, the can’t get too noisy. The residents of Kaatsheuvel must be able to live in peace and quiet. And the coasters and such mustn’t be heard in the quieter, family oriented parts of the park, like the fairy tale forest. The park also needs to be covered in 90% greenery at all times.
@@jarmoliebrand2005 damn I learned somthing new
Makes sense but they definitly go higher then alton which has the same restrictions especially in rides like baron, python and the thai house (all of which i have ridden)

Thank you so much mate! Enjoy Efteling, it's an amazing park!
15:28 that is also the world's steepest log flume
Interesting you picked De Efteling, to find the most exiting coasters, kinda not the park for that.
Walibi Holland has the thrill coasters, De Efteling is for the whole family, and more to take you into the fairy tales and not into massive thrills.
I believe it is about the highest rated theme parcs, not which has the most exiting roller coasters because then yes, he should have picked Wailibi.
which is why we love efteling!!
In your Theme Park Vlogger era ❤

Great video, your calm and reflected style was soothing in its way.

You have just started beef with a lot of Efteling fans 😅
Hahahaha your joking right?
@@SilhuijgensNo joke, have you been to Tripsdrill? I did both and liked Tripsdrill more tbh
@@vhheroicis6131 I can second that.
Efteling is a GREAT family park with IMHO flat out THE best dark ride in Europe followed by another great one, especially considering it's age. (Symbolica and Droomflucht)
Tripsdrill still has the flair of a family run rural park, but packs 6 coasters, 2 of which are worthy of far bigger parks.

Fact about China Town in Phantasialand. The restaurant and the hotel (yes, there is also a hotel, and in Africa too) were build by workers from China who are specialized to build the tratitional style. Also the materials were brought from china. So, its original!
At Efteling you can take the single ride line and save a lot of time
Hope you tried the Colorado coaster in Phantasialand! A true classic and a must at every visit :) Its entry is a little bit hidden behind Chinatown.
:) saved the waiting line behind us quite a few minutes :D
what a fun video! i did enjoy watching it

When you come back to NL, please come back to my favorite place: The Efteling.
Also go to boijaanland in Belguim the next time it is so fun there and some real thillers!
Zadras queue walking time being as long as the entire walktrought of Phantasialand end to end is just ironic

Cool video! And i am glad you enjoyed efteling too! It's not too thrilling, but it's a nature park. They only build on 11% of their space, and can't build above 30meters.
It's very close to the Kaatsheuvel living area and another nature park, so they had to put the rollercoasters in the back
I hope you did the darkrides symbolica, fata morgana & Droomvlucht

I have so much nostalgia with the Efteling. I really have so many good memories of it. We go there all the time 😂😂. Then I suddenly feel a bit younger again. I am not really into rollercoasters as much anymore because I became sick after it. I did to them before always with friends. I loved them
Efteling is definitely a park more for families with children. I myself prefer going to Toverland for the fantasy vibe but if you want thrills you got Walibi for that.

When I was in Phantasialand my friends and I waited 70 minutes for the water ride, so consider yourself lucky
you should visit the movie park in bottrop whilst they do their halloween horror festival! it's amazing
You really shouldve tried the Heidepark in Soltau Germany. The Kraken horror house is really terrifying and the rides are also very good.
By the way, you entriely missed Crazy Bats, the VR Indoor Coaster made by Vekoma. Has a really nice ride duration of 4 minutes and i love it to chill out on
He also missed Arthur, Alpenexpress and Ba-a Express, all technically coasters - and the biggest of all: Eurosat...

what time of the year did you go to the parks? Didn't seem to be big wait lines and the weather seemed perfect
Middle of June so it was surprisingly okay since it’s peak season
you should definetly consider going to sweden for liseberg, one of the premier theme parks in europe in my opinion, it is probably the best i’ve ever seen
the setting is also INSANE
@@maxsra10rakow You mean right IN a city ON a hill? with a train station and TWO tram stops right outside the gates? Yes... ;)
Efteling is beautiful. And toverland is a real reccomendation too! Cool coasters and lovely themeing
