Hey Brian good video, same thing happened to me a month ago. Same model Jeep. I ordered a PCM from MAKS across the country. I’m supposed to receive it tommorow. I hope it works.
Just wanted to add that I had this same problem and sent my PCM to a company called WranglerFix for $200 versus having to purchase a new PCM and reprogram it. Good Info to pass on to save yourself or your customers money.
They’re out of Florida. Shipped mine down there Tuesday and they had it back to me repaired on Thursday of the next week and I’m in Kentucky. They mainly do Jeep Wranglers but were willing to do a Grand Cherokee.
@@alexanderstratman4312 just quick question also in KY. How did you get ahold of them was it thru their website or a social media page of theirs. I see that they specialize in wranglers but how did you get them to do a Grand Cherokee?
My Jeep is doing this right now , pcm went first replaced it then the alternator went & blew the new pcm so now I’m in the process of waiting for new pcm which was thankfully on warranty , & going to get new alternator when pcm come to make sure that doesn’t happen again
Remove plug from alternator and disconnect plugs from computer then ground each pin at alternator one at a time each pin you will check at PCM harness for ground making sure those wires are good ..... Your basically making sure there no breaks in harness between alternator and PCM if wires are good between Alternator and PCM than only other problem can be the PCM which the Voltage Regulator is built into the PCM.......
Question brother, i had my ECM and altinator replaced last year. I was jumping a buddies Truck last weekend and the wind blew my Jeeps' hood shut and it ended up having grounding the -(neg) jumper clap on the hood thus shorting the altinator. I had to remove the ground cable from battery terminal as the altinator was about to catch fire. After swapping the fried altinator with a fresh one, the Jeep cranked right up but it wont charge the battery. Both the 33 fuse and the 5 relay ( ECM fuses) are both good so im assuming its the ECM itself 😔.... My last thought and what im trying to ask is (i am not a mechanic) can a blown cell kill a battery or grounding it kill it if something like what happened to me ? This is my hope as a battery is much cheaper than a ECM (and i already had the ECM replaced). If it is the ECM im gunna just drive it right back to the shop that replaced it last year and tell them IDK what happened the battery wont charge lol😅.....
Great video l got the same problem computer issues thanks for sharing 🙏

Make sure you have it programed to vehicle and if more than one key make sure both keys are programed in it aswell.....
Same thing im going through rn. My mechanic had to order this piece all the way in Texas and it gonna be a couple weeks.😭

Sorry to hear this happen ....
But also glad you found the problem.....
Sound like a whole Lotta guessing 😅😅😅
Actually I found the source and was 100 percent confident to purchase a new ECM
Good job. Can you tell me how to test for continuity?

Is an external voltage regulator a possible fix for this issue? They say you can bypass the pcm with it.
The regulator is built inside PCM so I don't see how it's possible 🤔
@@BryanL5913 OK. Thank you
Did the new PCM fix the problem
100 percent fixed the problem
Turns out the voltage reg is built into PCM.....
Why they did this makes no sense 😕
Actually I explained the test and how to test before you replace the pcm
If seen a similar process ... Fucc man I hope it's not my PCM. 😅🤙
