Just for fun, I have a stock 19 pp1 GT with a 6-speed. I was out cruising tonight and this young man in a 10 speed auto Camaro SS (stock) wanted to run. I lit him up from a 1st gear-35 pull lol. Second gear around 55 he fared a bit better ,but I was pulling him the entire time. Just further goes to show that if you can drive a stick properly, you can beat the vaunted 10 speed auto.
i mean, the 10 speed is better suited for the coyote motor as compared to the camaro. people talk about the 10 speed being a badass trans in regards to the mustang. so much so that the 10 speed and the mustang have basically become synonymous. when people say "10 speed", but they are usually talking about a mustang. have you beat an a10 coyote?
@@lugoe98 I haven't raced any 2018+ Mustangs yet, but have yet to lose to anything that includes a modified 370z and a Porsche Cayman. Not that I really street race that much nor really care to, but I always try to run from 1st gear if possible. I enjoy driving a stick so while autos may have the edge on the track, I have the edge on the enjoyment of driving.
@@blvckshinobi3864 the transmission doesn’t lock you out, the clutch does. Upgrade the clutch and get rid of that plastic clutch line and you’ll be fine.
Might be the clutch, but I'm not sure. Everybody says it's what locks people out of gear at high RPM. When I broke mine I was missing gears. I was just driving around town and shifted into third at the top of the RPM range and killed my 3-4 gears. I broke the shift forks. Good thing it was still under warranty and fixed by the dealer.
@@joshuakazfields4374 It held up just fine at 740 to 870whp for 3 years. Never gave me issues at all. Barton shifter and Mantic clutch, 8000-8200rpm shifts
@@freak_5.042 oh ya clutch must make huge difference, I'm actually thinking about trading mine in tomoro for 10r80, red recaros premium. Just swap my kit over should be 10s on 120mm 93 tune I hope
you're definitely pushing more power to the wheels than the 10r80 because the mt82 will never win in a dig or roll against the auto if they're both equal in whp.
I was on the 3.6 pulley and pump gas. 740whp. The difference here was the tuning. I'm tuned by Palm Beach Dyno and he is tuned by a local shit bag...lol
Ive seen this video with 2 pro drivers, camaro ss 1le manual and corvette grand sport auto, at a prepped drag strip, the camaro won many times despite being 200lbs heavier and less aerodynamic, its all on the driver and conditions and setup that determines if an auto or manual car is faster. But most people are cheating lazy bastards and drag race autos😂

The newer mt82 trans gearing is worse tho, put the older one or a tremic in the 2018 plus 5.0 and its a beast again.

i screwed up my MT82 already. 114k miles and i shifted kinda hard into second and now I can not shift above 5500 rpm WOT

@@fgj8379 yea I changed the clutch and a bunch of other stuff on mine and I don’t get the lockout issue anymore. It’s fixable with some mods.
