If you're still in a court movie mood, I'd echo the recommendation of "My Cousin Vinny." Not only is it very funny, but even law schools use it as a good example of effective courtroom practice.
YES!! This is one of the few movies that's ever had my unable to breathe from laughing so hard!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 "THE PEN! THAT I AM HOLDING IN MY HAND IS .... " 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣😂
That pen scene, all by itself, would probably qualify as one of the Top Ten funniest videos ever put on UA-cam, if it was simply just that, and nothing else. Jim Carrey would still have to do it, though, because literally nobody else (other than probably Robin Williams) could match that energy level.
This movie will always hold a special place in my heart. Back then, my family had moved 3 times in the previous year and a half, two of which were to the opposite side of the country. I was having a really hard time in school. I was also a huge Jim Carrey fan. So my mom took it upon herself to call me out of school so we could see this in the theater
He’s acting weird cuz in almost every moment he’s saying or doing exactly what he thinks and on top of that trying to fight against it. That’s the hilarious part!
As a kid who’s parents divorced, I kinda related to this movie, except the roles reversed. My mother is the crazy one (I still love her so much) and my dad didn’t really do much of anything, and quickly got into relationships, of which were healthier than my mother.
This is one of Jim’s best roles. The movie is fast with the jokes and most land quite well. Still funny every time I rewatch it. Still tugs the heart strings every time too. So it really hit it out the park for what it set out to do.
My favourite Jim Carrey film will always be *The Mask.* Highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it, that would also include the cartoon series. Ace Ventura is a close second.
I love how it's Carey Elwes who plays that "dorky stepdad" role. Because we all know that Elwes is a much better actor than that, and he probably knows it also. But for him to voluntarily just play this complete DUNCE for two hours on screen is a big leap for him. I actually gained more respect for Carey Elwes after this movie, than I ever did after any of his other performances.
People love to use the word “cringe” these days. I saw this movie as a kid so maybe I have the rose glasses on but I never once thought of any part of this movie as cringe, only as hilarious.
@@Zekegedd Right, that is the reason why I commented. I REALLY don't find this movie "cringe" at all lol. I just could not believe how many times Mary brought it up in the film. Jim Carrey is one of the best (Over actors) in existence and I have been watching him for 34 years, never once cringed from his work.
the fact that this movie is almost 30 years old and still makes me bust up laughing to this day, is just another testament of how amazing an actor Jim Carrey is!! this is one of the best comedic movies ever!!
Fun fact: at the time 35:47-35:53 you can see Jim Carry in the background playing a character he use to do back in the old comedy show In loving color Fire Marshall Bill it’s very brief but yep he’s back there lol
8:00 That's Jennifer Tilly. Yes, she was in the latter Chucky movies, but I've seen her in other, more adult movies. She's also an expert poker player; I've seen her play multiple times.
If you enjoyed this, then I recommend the Jim Carrey movie Yes Man. It's a similar kind of "high concept" movie, but with no supernatural stuff, and the performances are a *little* toned-down compared to this. Also, it has an outstanding supporting cast, including the wonderful Rhys Darby.
If you're ever interested in a courtroom drama based on real events I would highly recommend Amistad by Steven Spielberg. The "true" story of a group of enslaved africans fighting for their freedom, first onboard the ship and next in the american court system. Incredible performances by Anthony Hopkins, Morgan Freeman, Mathew Mcconaughey but the performance by Djimon Hounsou is one of the most powerful I've seen. Also is the film debut of Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Good Film!!!BUT to me the BEST courtroom drama by FAR would have to be "And Justice For All"!!!Starring Al Pacino!!!He was nominated for an Oscar!!!But I think lost to Robert DeNiro in "The Deer Hunter"???Al Pacino delivers THE GREATEST MONOLOGUE IN FILM HISTORY!!! in that film at the end as part of his opening argument.I mean WOW!!!
I remember seeing this in the theater with a couple of my cousins when I was…however old I was when it came out. Really enjoyed rewatching it with you. The blue pen and the boardroom roast are two of my favorite comedy scenes from the 90s.
The guy that says “what the hell are you doing?” In the bathroom is the voice of Homer Simpson as well as a lot of other Simpsons characters if I’m not mistaken.
4:39 You noted a minute ago that the new boyfriend of the mother was the commoner (Wesley) in The Princess Bride, but not that the guy with the mole on his face in Austin Powers Gold Member was the child in The Princess Bride: the one who was sick in bed and was having the story read to him - the actor Fred Savage.
When he's laying on the stretcher after his accident at the airport in the background you can see one of Jim Carrey's first characters from "In Living Color"- Fire Marshall Bill - make a cameo appearance.
In the scene where they are standing around the luggage as paramedics work on Jim, in the background you can see Jim as his In Living Color character “Fire Marshall Bill”

After he did the claw to his kid the kid said that his dad was gonna take him to see wrestling. Jim Carreys dad used the claw on him when he was little, his dad probably got it from the finishing move of wrestler Killer Kowalski.
My favorite thing about Liar Liar is of Jim Carrey playing one of the fireman in the background at the end of the movie after the crash. You can see him as a fireman at 35:49. When you watch the scene the guy next to Jim is struggling to not laugh, I love it 😆
John Barrymore was the greatest actor of his time. But he admired comedians because he could never do that. He played the best scenes ever put on film, and when he was really dying and someone asked him if it was hard he famously said "Dying is easy Comedy is hard"

You gotta watch Bruce Almighty
You gotta watch The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2 and The Three Stooges
jim is the goat when it comes to comedy hes just so great the best actor
Toys story 5
That's Jennifer Tilly
“What is he doing?”
He’s doing the thing he does: “The Jim Carrey”.
I liked that Jerry wasn't made into an unlikeable character just because he was dating the mother.
He was kind of unlikable because of how lame he was
he was just so... MAGOO! 😅
he was super unlikeable lmao what u mean?
Same. He was a cornball but not unlikeable
@@enjoyitbro how was he lame?
The pen scene is one of the GREATEST comedic performances of the 90s.
"Write it! WRITE IT OR I'LL BREAK IT OFF!!!"
That line is delivered so well it still kills me everytime 🤣
Only Jim Carrey can make his arm act on its own accord.
Me, Myself and Irene was the next evolution of that aspect of his comedy I suppose
If you're still in a court movie mood, I'd echo the recommendation of "My Cousin Vinny." Not only is it very funny, but even law schools use it as a good example of effective courtroom practice.
One of my favorite movies. Tomei actually won Best Supporting Actress for playing Lisa.
Cassie (Popcorn in Bed) just did that one recently. Classic.
The two yutes!
A few good men
A few good men
One of my favorite Jim films. I really enjoy his humor in this one and love how cursed he is for not being able to lie.
Saw this in the theater and I was close to having a heart attack throughout from laughing so hard. Especially in the boardroom roast.
OMG!!!Right?!The Boardroom Roast!!!! I almost spotted.
"I wish my parents got back together." Hilarious foreshadow
This was the 1st Jim Carrey movie I ever saw, it''ll always be special to me. To this day probably my favourite movie of his.
Mine was ace Ventura
“He’s wearing such a long suit” ugh yea it was the 90s
YES!! This is one of the few movies that's ever had my unable to breathe from laughing so hard!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
"THE PEN! THAT I AM HOLDING IN MY HAND IS .... " 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣😂

I always think later he represents the dad for the custody case. And helps him get them back
Mrs. Cole is the type of person who later most likely did something that result in her loosing custody.
That can’t happen. He could not be her lawyer, but because he was hers, he can’t ever be his in a case involving mrs cole

This is one of Jim’s best roles. The movie is fast with the jokes and most land quite well. Still funny every time I rewatch it. Still tugs the heart strings every time too. So it really hit it out the park for what it set out to do.
It's his best job ever. Nothing before, or since, really even matches it. "Ace Ventura" comes close, but... still a close second place, to me.
"The pen is blue."
So simple, yet so funny.
mary... seriously... "as you wish, as you wish"... i'm surprised that you didn't tear up like i did - knowi'ng the reference...
My favourite Jim Carrey film will always be *The Mask.* Highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it, that would also include the cartoon series. Ace Ventura is a close second.
The Mask isn’t better than Ace. They’re equal
The Mask and Ace Ventura both Classics!!!and Outstanding!!!
30:15 He wasn't bullshitting, he didn't know because she lied about her age.
It isn't JUST that he cant lie but he is compelled to tell the truth. Forcefully.
I’d you weren’t allowed to watch this as a child then I can’t imagine you were allowed to see me myself and Irene.
Truthfully the ONLY cringe moment for me in this classic, is Audrey and Jerry trying to do the claw.
I love that scene, it's SO cringe, as its supposed to be, he does a great job.
I love how it's Carey Elwes who plays that "dorky stepdad" role. Because we all know that Elwes is a much better actor than that, and he probably knows it also. As an Ace Attorney fan, we prefer to call it "bluffing".
As a ace attorney and Daganronpa fan, perjury does also work
HAHA! "Who does that?" HAHA! Every dude in the world.
Have you watched My Cousin Vinny? You definitely need to if you're in the mood for court room comedy again!
35:49 the firefighter behind with the sunglasses is jim Carrey 😂😂😂
I HOLD MYSELF IN CONTEMPT!!!!!! what a great line

He's really good at writing the word blue backwards on his face.😂
35:50 - See the firefighter in the background on the walkie-talkie? That's Jim Carrey! Haha 😄
You should check out his other crazy comedy "Me, Myself, and Irene." It's my favorite of his.
Yes! Me, Myself and Irene was very underrated! It’s a crime how much that movie flew under the radar
It's natural that most politicians are lawyers ,since the ability to lie well is the primary requirement for both "professions"
Jim carey is so talentive. Now a days He has been printing, and the paints has a sense of dark humor
"she said doody..." , and at what point did you think i made y first dad joke...
Mary Cherry 🍒🇦🇺🍒🇦🇺🍒🇦🇺 watched too much bevis and Butthead

The blue pen and the boardroom roast are two of my favorite comedy scenes from the 90s.
The guy that says “what the hell are you doing?” In the bathroom is the voice of Homer Simpson as well as a lot of other Simpsons characters if I’m not mistaken.
Jim Carrey is also a really good dramatic actor. You should watch him in the Truman show or the majestic or eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.
I have to admit this movie made me never want to miss moments of my kids lives
"He is worse the Amber Heard lawyers" 🤣🤣
@35:49, Jim Carey is in the background as firefighter with a radio 😆
When filming the court scene where he stumbled over his talking, they had to do the scene multiple times because obviously he's a goofball
I think he has one serious movie called "The Number 23" a thriller directed by Joel Schumacher.
"OVERACTOR!!" Sums up all of Jim Carrey's roles throughout his career.
Yes but in the best way possible
I'm surprised Fletcher managed to keep track of how many times he broke the law when he got pulled over
A sad fact: Jason Bernard, the actor who plays the judge, died right after filming ended: the movie was dedicated to him.
That Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial was insane lmao.
I hardly watched anything else in the morning when that was on!!!
When he's laying on the stretcher after his accident at the airport in the background you can see one of Jim Carrey's first characters from "In Living Color"- Fire Marshall Bill - make a cameo appearance.
This movie depicts marriage Court pretty accurately. Woman cheats woman takes half and takes the kids.
The scene in the court cracked me up so much with this movie.
A goooooose! Still one of the best outtakes 😂
I also loved OVER ACTOR!!!!."Oh No.They're On To Me."Funny stuff!!!
“Bull💩! He KNEW she was underage!”
What exactly do you base that on?
Her BS opinions about the real world in all likelihood.
"mR rEeD mR rEeD." 😂😂😂😂
Haha
They seved drinks Before the plane took off
This must have been an exhausting performance for Jim Carrey.
Good courtroom scene too!!!He actually did it!!!Even without being able to lie!!!!
This is one of the funniest movies ever
BRILLIANT movie! Will always love this one.
In the scene where they are standing around the luggage as paramedics work on Jim, in the background you can see Jim as his In Living Color character “Fire Marshall Bill”
This was one of my favorite movies growing up, probably watched it countless times
Jim Carry is a national treasure for comedy
He's Canadian, but yeah he is
Jim played a bumbling Fire Marshal on the 1990 comedy series In Living Color, first time I ever seen his unique humor, loved it.
Fire Marshal Bill has a cameo in this movie, towards the end. You can see him in the crowd at 35:49
One of the funniest comedies of all time easily
Homeless ppl in America absolutely can look like that guy. It's usually soot on their face, not necessarily mud.
It's funny because of how scary it would be if everyone couldn't lie for a whole day.
How the hell is 7 months “to soon” you’d literally know everything about a person by that point
Jim Carrey is such a character himself such a physician actor & his fiscal expressions are so funny in this. One of my favs by him
Yeah, this is one of bests
35:50. Fire Marshall Bill is in the background! 😂
one of the best easter eggs in movie history
Jim carreys giant suit was welcoming you to the 90s! 😆
25:22 » "Yes!" ?? roflmao 😂🤣😂🤣😂 caught me off guard on that 🤣🤣🤣
This movie reminds me a little of SCROOGED with Bill Murray .
You need to watch Legally Blonde if you haven't seen it.
This was a kids movie when I was young haha. Still holds up. So good
Mary: Is that (Jerry) like the neighbor or something?
Me: Yeah, he does have a Ned Flanders kinda vibe to him

Tell kids the truth.... the truth hurts
Bwahahaha!!! "This is worse than amber heard's lawyers"!!!! Fantastic!!!
One of my favorite Jim Carrey movies, along with Bruce Almighty and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
I've seen this movie a million times and I JUST got it.... after what happened the whole movie, a year later, the SON lies!
...
Laughs at Jim putting himself in contempt
Immediately crying when realizing the situation
The knee in the radiator always gets me
I saw this in the theater and the audience was laughing so loud you could hardly hear the movie.
no one ever needs to lie
After he did the claw to his kid the kid said that his dad was gonna take him to see wrestling. Jim Carreys dad used the claw on him when he was little, his dad probably got it from the finishing move of wrestler Killer Kowalski.

This movie is hilarious from start to finish. Jim Carrey should have won an Oscar for this.
I wish Comedy actors won Oscars!!!Only at the Golden Globes I think they have a category for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical?
