- Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is an IMAX®-shot epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.
The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his wife, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. Oscar® winner Matt Damon portrays General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey, Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, a founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission.
Academy Award® nominee Florence Pugh plays psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie plays theoretical physicist Edward Teller, Michael Angarano plays Robert Serber and Josh Hartnett plays pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence.
Oppenheimer also stars Oscar® winner Rami Malek and reunites Nolan with eight-time Oscar® nominated actor, writer and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh.
The cast includes Dane DeHaan (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets), Dylan Arnold (Halloween franchise), David Krumholtz (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises).
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan.
Oppenheimer is filmed in a combination of IMAX® 65mm and 65mm large-format film photography including, for the first time ever, sections in IMAX® black and white analogue photography.
Nolan’s films, including Tenet, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, have earned more than $5 billion at the global box office and have been awarded 11 Oscars and 36 nominations, including two Best Picture nominations.

Whoever was in charge of fire safety in that auditorium deserves a raise, because it's beyond me how the stage didn't burst into flames from all the heat those violinists were spitting during "Can You Hear the Music"
💯
spittin' facts right here
Damn right
Lame unfunny punchline.
@@LetterBeginning 💀💀💀
"Can you hear the Oscar's Chris?"
"Yes I can"
Lmao 😂
Yeees! 🙂
He won
@@meetikart this part of my life, this little part, is called happiness 🥰
Bro bagged 10 like it was nothing
I genuinely didn't think this track could be performed live. The tempo changes are insane, and they didn't even perform the studio version, they performed the edited one that stays in sync with the movie. Fucking hell.
Well they did say that all the musicians there worked on the original recording sessions, so they all probably knew how to perform the tempo changes because they had to do it before.
They faked played over the real song lol
@@BALAAABOYYYY222 Thank god i'm not as stupid as you.
@@BALAAABOYYYY222 please don't vote or reproduce.
Funnily enough, neither did Ludwig Göransson. He actually wasn't going to even try to do it live and was going to do it bar-by-bar for the movie's score (which is what sensible people would do), but his wife kept insisting that he try it. Through much experimentation, they managed to record it by having a click play into each musician's ear at the time of the tempo changes. That song alone took three days to record
Ludwig deserved the Golden Globe. I have admired his work since the mandalorian. Fantastic composer. 😊
This is his best work, but Tenet's score was 🔥
@@christian8552Agreed!!
Since Mandalorian? Dude has been killing it since Childish Gambino's 'Freaks and Geeks' back in 2011 🔥 Seeing him move to cinematic compositions has been a joy.
The Community score is fire too
He only makes good scores under Nolan, all of his other work is very forgettable.
Universal is going ALL OUT with their Oscar campaign. This movie is winning everything.
exactly what i was about to write...made 1 bil...gave all the creative reins to Nolan...made one film for the history...
@@viceviner1194what is creative reins means?
@@hhshs3466 They gave Nolan complete creative control over the whole film, essentially meaning they let him do whatever he wanted.
Which is a really rare feat. Few directors are given full creative control in today's times when it comes to big studio projects. Most projects are notoriously affected when executives meddle and exert control. Denis VIlleneuve and Christopher Nolan are arguably the only 2 directors that can do whatever they want. @@hhshs3466
@@viceviner1194 It didn't make 1 billion
If they did a tour with these musicians, it would sell out EVERYWHERE!
YES THEY WOULD 🥹
Nolan: Can you hear the music
We: yes we can
The feelings when those horns come in on “Can You Hear the Music”. Instant goosebumps.
Hearing that in theatres was an out-of-body experience
Ludwig is amazing and crushed it with this. He deserves a Oscar nomination for this score.
I'll be surprised if he doesn't win the academy award
@@oblebrun Me either. Oppenheimer And Across The Spider-Man Scores are the best film scores of the year.
No. HE DESERVES THE OSCAR.
he is nominated for the next oscars
@@siddyunofficialOscar nominations aren’t officially out yet but highly likely he’ll be on the list.
I was there! Absolutely an out-of-the-world experience, probably the best music experience of my life lol
Kitty Comes to Testify being played live WITH the movie was breathtaking
YES! What a gift it was to be there
Wow did they do the whole movie?
@@grantwlmsyep they did. It was exhilarating
you must be the luckiest person in this earth
Happy for you! Wish i can get to experience this live too, the soundtracks are just so amazing
So lucky to be part of the audience last night. Oppenheimer Live in Concert was amazing! ❤️❤️❤️
Agreed! Hard to think of an experience that could ever match that.
@@WhitLauritsen I would have love to attended if possible but gosh does that sound so beautiful, and the fact that Cillian Murphy was there is just gold
Was it the whole movie?
@@ellinorepoussartcantin6294 Yes.
@@ellinorepoussartcantin6294 it was! 2 hours and 45 minutes of music played live during the movie
Hearing this score in IMAX super loud was one hell of an experience.
Goransons score was such an important part of the movie. He deserves an Oscar for this.
Immediately felt goosebumps when the music started playing
Can you hear the music is like an escape from the reality. It doesn’t fail to tear me up everytime I hear it. Also I still can’t comprehend all that sound being made right on that stage, it’s surreal!
I tear up too 😭😭😭
A full video of the whole concert for us who could not attend، Pleeeaaase!
Or at least a clip with “Destroyer Of Worlds”😢
He’s one heck of a composer
He’s extremely talented well done Ludwig !!
This is giving me chills. What an experience that must have been
Imagine the atmosphere at that concert...
This whole video is a masterpiece! 'Oppenheimer' is a masterpiece!
Can you hear the music deserves the same love and recognition as the classical masterpieces in my opinion, it deserves to be remembered for decades and beyond. I hope people don't let it die
Goosebumps. I get misty-eyed listening to Can You Hear the Music. The violins pull you in to another world. If this were turned into a tour…it would sell out everywhere! Thank you to all who participated in bringing this movie and music to live. It showcases the human spirit. It lifts us up. We need more such glorious moments.
Here comes Ludwig's second Oscar
I know these are professional musicians but Can You Hear The Music has got to be one of the most challenging pieces to play in front of an audience. What a masterpiece. Hopefully Ludwig and Oppenheimer will dominate this incoming Oscars also.
Are you kidding me?! Wooow... such a great idea to organise a concert for OPPENHEIMER's music score. I am in tears...😊
Ludwig van Beethoven of our time.
"These things are hard on your heart.” - Oppy
Damn straight! that was beautiful!
I love you, Anthony Parnther! 🎉
Early congratulations to Ludwig Goransson for winning the Oscar!
Awesome score, awesome movie. Anthony Parnther, who’s conducting here, also conducted the studio soundtrack recording. They did those tempo changes in real time! No comping edits!
Everything I learn about this song is fascinating
The conductor was captivating! Fantastic.
watching it live must have been so exhilarating !!! , Would love to attend these concerts live someday.
exhilarating is the perfect word for it. I was filled with awe for 3 hours
Please for all that is love and almighty do a worldwide tour.
Like dc film in concert and what royal albert hall does
Got freaking goosebumps
God Tier.
This concert was craaazy! 🙌Christopher Nolan killed it ! Man …Ludwig had me speechless with the soundtrack !thank you UCLA for the opportunity and the help !
"Can you hear the music, Robert?" - that line gives me goosebumps every time! Love this music so much
I am in awe of the conductor's hands 😶
Look at the conductor, he just taps looking at just a piece of paper and that's so cool, he's really in real time!
Jebus, played live it hits even harder than in the film!!!
Wow... really hope they can do this stunning performance at this year's Oscars. Only wish they could tour this at larger amphitheaters - Hollywood Bowl, Radio City, etc.
Hopefully this goes on tour somehow
Yo this is the same guy that conducted the Oppenheimer live concert
For those who were in the audience, you lucky bastards 😭
Even after some decades, no one can beat this masterpiece. They don't even come close, not even a single bit. It remains forever until the last human remains on earth.
It's only been 14 hr... LoL
(so much works to get some likes 😂😂)
the pulse of unwavering energy the music sends at 1:56 is unreal
their talent with the instruments is impeccable, but what’s more impressive is resisting to urge to not look around and watch this masterpiece.
That conductor can sure hear the music
Wow - what a night! I will look back on being there as one of the greatest events of my life. And this recap does a great job summarizing the experience. It was magnificent and I was full of awe for 3 hours.
Can You Hear the Music is the latest musical masterpiece
Most people don't understands the importance of perfection in Opera tbh. Any mistake can affect the whole performance
This is not opera
Music in this movie was something absolutly remarkable. I have "can you hear the music" on my playlist since i walk out the theater
I Can Hear The Music ❤
Ludwig absolutely nailed the score!
I've finally been able to pick my jaw off the floor! It must have been incredible to witness this performance in person.
This concert was otherworldly. So glad I got to experience it.

I'm tingling all over listening to this incredible music. I am green with envy for all that were there. What I would do to have been there. Any chance of a world tour?
Now this, THIS does put a smile on my face!
Pure Art ✨
Listen to this track over 100+ times and it still gives me goosebumps every time.
Imagine creating a masterpiece film with composed music being showcase in concert event because it's equally good. Nolan just know who to take on his projects. Ludwig is genius as well.
