    Van Excel was the original FREAKSHOW , with his loosey goosey style of handles and his flamboyant playmaking .he was a ankle breaker ahead of his time. Underrated as a pure point guard because of his ability to score at will in the clutch along with having extraordinary shooting range would overshadow his passing ability and court vision .

      Van Exel and Rod Strickland should've had bigger than life careers a la Iverson. Once the Zoning rules changed, the PG position changed forever. They were 15 years too early. No doubt in my mind Nick could've had a HOF career in today's league.

    Nick Van Exel,
    Clutch23- thank you again! This brotha Van Exel was a straight up baller, could go to any hood on Earth and ball out against anybody! Had that freakish left handedness that was a skill! Once LAL got rid of him he wasn’t the same. All that talent in LA with EJ, RHorry, Kobe, ElCampbell, Ceballos, Shaq, RFox and so on couldn’t get over the top. His teammates were never that talented on Denver or any other teams he played for!

  • @andgar923
    @andgar923 4 роки тому +7

    YESSSSS!!! aside from MJ my fav player. I model my game after his 1st and foremost. Imo the hardest player to guard. Sure other guards have better crossovers, are quicker, smarter, could shoot better etc. But his jerking stop and go style without stopping his dribble makes him unguardable. Not sure his nickname is true as he wasn't that quick. His style is what made him unguardable and appear to be quicker than he actually was.

    • @carlwallace1129
      @carlwallace1129 4 роки тому +4

      Agreed,, nick van excel was loosey goosey with his handles shaking &baking and the 1st to crossover Jordan twice before Iverson. Van Excel nickname should have been( FreakShow , alongside Nick at Nite

    • @JD37
      @JD37 4 роки тому

      Idk if I agree with you fully about his lack of quickness. I saw him play at the Forum and he was a blur. But I respect your knowledge of his handles. Some people don’t always realize his sneakiness and grip on the ball.

    • @andgar923
      @andgar923 4 роки тому

      @@JD37 I'd like to clarify what I meant as it does seem stupid reading it back. He didn't have Iverson, KJ, Westbrook quickness. Those players were a blur, he was one of the deceptive quick players.

    Van Excel à un bête de drive et un Put1 d'handle son lay up est de très bonne facture mais jusqu'à l'appeler "the quick" c'est un peu tiré par les cheveux, en France on avait TP qui était 2 fois plus "quick" que lui 😉. Après cela n'engage que moi et ça n'enlève rien les excellentes qualité de Nick Van Excel bien sûr.
