Riding Nairobi's Craziest Matatu, Kenya 🇰🇪
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2022
- I show my wild experience riding Nairobi's Craziest Matatu (local bus) bound for Rongai in Kenya's capital city. Later on, I try eating Nyama Choma for the first time at the famous Carnivore Restaurant. The following day, I conclude things while visiting a coffee farm in Kiambu County, just a short trip north of Nairobi.

I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and UA-camr who's been to 52 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017. So far, my trips have taken me to Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known travel destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This trip marked the start of my efforts to make a UA-cam full-time job.
After that European trip I went heavily into exploring Asia, visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan (seeing me cover a lot of Far East and Southeast Asia in particular).
I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and Palestine.
To date, I have not yet been to Australasia or South America. Though I am hoping to visit the latter sometime in 2022, along with a first stop in the Caribbean.
I've travelled to North America just once as a UA-camr, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was only as a child on family holidays.
I have just begun my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa in 2022, starting in Kenya.

Waoh that guy giving a brief history of Matatu is on point
Kabisa....ako radar
I didn't know, now I know
mang'otore matatu
thats Kamoko he is a legend
Kwanza hiyo kizungu
this guy described matatus very well
I was particularly impressed by that kange explaining, with such exquisite language, what a matatu is. If you have time check out Matatu Culture by Prof. Mbugua Mungai to understand the origin, history, political and social significance of the mathrees. Indeed, can you be in Nairobi without riding in one of these nganyas?
The moment he mentioned Rongai, I immediately knew it was gonna be a real ride. Commented before watching
Only in kenya you can find such artwork ....and thats a vibe😍
Yea that's how we do it it..thanks alot
😂😂😂😂 i thought you were alone when those matatu touts bombarded you ...i was like damn you have guts to walk alone filming then i saw that lady with you ...that matatu guy explaining the word " matatu" to you was epic his English and confidence on another level😃👌🏿
you are everywhere
@@Patrickmwai87 To come to that conclusion you have to be everywhere first😂
@@ryukiiprimer5383 Ha ha ha
My guy could not pick the cue... Aggy was walking haraka but my guy is just strolling casually in down town ahahahah
First thing I was told in Nairobi is "walk quickly"

I think you're the first westerner to give a positive view of the crazily awesome side of Africa. Thanks

That's what I thought too 😂

😂😂💯 but sometimes you'll be surprised how the touts can be there for someone..

NAIROBBERY is FAMOUS
I love the guy explaining about the matatu....on point
It's overwhelming..Nice description from that Guy
Thank you very much! It will be very useful for my upcoming trip)
The matatu buses were amazing and excellent value. Sad to see there was an accident. The coffee making was especially interesting. I didn't know Hawaiian coffee was the world's best!
They’re very affordable - which is why so many locals take one every day. I had no idea either - the top three I listed was according to David (guide), but of course it probably varies from year to year.
@@JasonBillamTravel But are they cheap in relation to the natives' salary? I ask because I'm Brazilian and I noticed that the ticket is more expensive than the regular buses in Rio de Janeiro, a city with a much higher average income, and here people complain about the price of tickets.
yes, it's Kona coffee on the Big Island, Hawaii
I LOVED the Coffee Plantation!
Hi Otieno aka Jason! Love how you embrace the culture. Aggie is a great host. Really enjoying the vlogs! Looking forward to Maasai Mara! 💯😇
Appreciated 🙏
Bana means actually

Good job Jason! My county there.
Great video Jason! Enjoyed it very much.
I remember from my visits to the Carnivore Restaurant there were Masai singers and dancers at the exit/entrance. Were they still there?
Nairobi Party Buses ie Music & Rythm Vibes on wheels. A cheap & very cool way to transport passengers from point A to B. Hate them or love them they are very popular in Nairobi.
I think I'll forget to get off at my stop cos I'll be enjoying the vibe and music 😅🤣
Wow u have made me love Kenya

Wow that Matatu is freaking cool!
Intense experiences!
Well Done, Otieno!
I don't know if I could do the matatu experience whilst filming. You are Brave!
Always enjoy watching your videos, got to say those guys trying to attract your business looked a little daunting to be honest, can imagine it must have been a bit off putting coupled with the fact the pedestrian was hit ,luckily he wasn't badly injured. As they say upwards and onwards looking forward to your next vlog.....
It was pretty intense, they wouldn’t let me pass. Quite an eventful day tbh!
@@JasonBillamTravel take care 🙂
