Apple has a product that is Part of a different product set. Apple vision pro and meta quest are different product lines, they have greater capabilities, this is for different use cases. And apple especially in post Steve Jobs era usually does not go Forst to new peoducts, apple will Make one some years after this goes into market.

It's great to see a prototype even though it isn't yet a product that allows "regular people" to finally understand a small part of why we love XR so much. I'm excited to continue witnessing these small leaps towards this exciting future of technology where I hope we'll have a better sense of the world around us while using technology and maybe overall too! Edit: it's also funny to see how so many people are calling this a leap to the future even though most of Orion's capabilities already exist in VR headsets (aside from most obviously the neural wristband).

If current VR and AR glasses are any indication, you'll be able to buy them at prescription strength or be able to buy 'aftermarket' lenses you can add to it. Considering it's a lot closer to actual glasses compared to most things done so far & meta likes money as much as the next US company, its safe to assume you will be able to just order them at prescription strength.

It's not my intent to play Devil's Advocate, yet is safety a concern? The technology is exciting . . . but if one is driving down a road with the AR glasses on, how does imagery and possibly a few false-positives become a distraction? I might lack a good understanding of how the glasses operate.

They are aware of the form factor and consumer pricing. They aren't shipping these until they can get them about 30% smaller and within the price range of flagship smartphones or Laptop (roughly $1200-$1500. This won't be a consumer product until 3-5 years from now. Beyond that, the price will continue to drop as new iterations arrive, and competitors reveal their offerings. Meta is leading the charge.

This is an order of magnitude better than the Apple VR goggles and it's simply because of form factor. You can still look people in the eyes when you are talking to them. It's very important. You can't lose the human connection with your technology or we will go onto a dark timeline. not good. Make the tech bring us together as humans. Thanks zuck.
