I was 18 or 19 when I went into a homeless shelter for women with children and let me tell you it was PEACE on earth for us!!! I managed to save up money and got into my own place after two years of being in transitional housing. ❤️✨
That's wonderful I had the same happen to me at 42 with 3 kids. After 2 years in shelter I took a work for experience job and from that came full time employment.
I would say that a good deal of these single moms are fleeing domestic violence. It could be dangerous for the mom and children in those circumstances for the father to know where they are. Even to file for child support you have to have an address that goes on the legal document that the father receives when served by the courts. The best, and probably safest, way would be to get on Aid to Families with Dependent Children through DHS and let DHS find the fathers and take them to court.
Probably with their other lovers, who knows maybe these women having children do NOT know who the father is. The children are always the ones who suffer.

Instead of killing that baby growing in them, that they can not take care of, they need to place the baby up for adoption. Many women can't have children, yet here's these women popping many out to collect everything for free.

My niece has two children and one on the way. She got in a fight with her boyfriend and ended being homeless. Tried to come to my place but wore out her welcome before she had any children. I don't have any sympathy. I was homeless multiple times dye to low income and got my ass of the street. I own a house now. This is my second home.

Where are the fathers of these children? They should be paying to support their current or former partners and their children. Life would be better if people simply fulfilled their responsibilities instead of constantly having the taxpayer bail them out.

I had my kids in my early 20s, Their father bailed. My kids are thriving and I have a good job. The difference is my country had support for me when my children were little which enabled me to study for cheap and still pay our bills, Went off welfare long before I would have had too, my kids don't know poverty and never will
It's so sad there's so many people homeless and when you do get into a shelter you don't know who's going to take your food your money or clothing and then you have to share a microwave with 46 other people in order to to feed or used we have to go to the convenience store and pick up food that's not healthy so this new generation going to be so overweight and have so many health problems things go to change in this country
Not a moral failure? Why are there so many single mothers? Why are people having children prior to having an income and a secure home? Perhaps we need to recognize that it is a moral failure, and stop making excuses for people. this won't get better until people start making better decisions.
Because it is a person's basic human right to procreate. And when they do so irresponsibly or untimely, it doesn't matter, Its up to everyone else to pick up the slack. Or so we are supposed to believe.
It's not a moral failure but spreading legs to get benefits. It's easier to get pregnant and claim government money than finish schools, apply for jobs, get a job and generally be a responsible adult. Responsible women are getting jobs, securing incomes, securing place to live whereas others uses their wombs to get tax payers money.

Because it's the only way they are allowed to apply for things, contact their support workers etc. They are usually pay as you go phones. Some homeless agencies supply them. The Plandemic put an end to visiting real offices and talking to support workers in real life.

I had to pay rent at the shelter I was in. 2 bedroom was 338 monthly. This was in 2009

Some mothers pretend to be single to get a place, I worked in the DWP in the UK, this is common. It's just human nature.

I had the same problem with a voucher and that was 30 years ago, so it hasn't changed. I was in Washington State not NYC but close to Seattle area.
