18:58 Love that picture, the cheeky "Wait till you see the 89" shirts, the hunger, it still felt .. human. Today it is still there, the hunger, the cheekiness maybe, but it's all so large scale, the business, the marketing, there's almost no humble beginnings anymore, spontaneity is now more of a risk to dissuade investors.
Another thing that active suspension would be back is beautiful suspension articulation. It would be so nice to see modern F1 car staying flat while the suspension articulates over a curb like in the 60s and early 70s
The current experiment with Ground Effect has been a failure. Cars are inconsistent and difficult to set up. "Bouncing" makes the cars bad for the drivers. The whole idea of Motorsports is man and machine working in harmony. GE is a dead end.
This implementation has definitely failed. Even the improvement in following distance and reduction of dirty air has disappeared, teams have just worked out ways of sending air sideways even with the current rules. But I notice that Indycar went with ground effects like a decade ago, and I haven't heard any of the same complaints there, although I don't follow the sport much any more. I just think ground effects could be great but this version of the rules has failed. It needs active suspension at least to fix the bouncing crap.

Fantastic Peter. Pls more of these great insight by people like this
Very nice to see and hear a star Formula 1 engineer talk lucidly about some of the projects he put his mind to. Colin knew Peter’s worth.
Love the story of home made solutions in the first 3 minutes.
Awesome hydraulic oil story!

Bring back active suspension!! I'm sick of it!

In my mind I'm just adding "for Mercedes" after every sentence you wrote for it to make sense.
@wreagfe Every team, including red bull, has had the same problems. It's just a question of degree
