From a creator standpoint, the most valuable lesson I took away from all this is you are only as good as your team, and it's impossible to do everything alone. Such a sick collab, thanks guys!
i have been saying this forever, JAY ADD TIME STAMPS AND CHAPTERS! you have SOOOO much good technical content for us to look back on, but flipping through the whole video when we are looking for one technical piece you talk about is a nightmare.
As somebody who watches this channel, LTT, GN, Paul's Hardware, and Hardware Unboxed, each of you all add something unique to the tech space. I don't even need to agree with something, hearing what each channel has to say about something is worth taking the time to watch/listen. I love reviews because I can't afford to be in the space and keep current, while more tech stuff is just interesting. It's also fun to see these channels get together for stuff like this.
@@RADukura LInus is great at putting his foot in his mouth and doubling down on stupidity in the heat of the moment. But I have yet to see him not own up to it and improve. I do believe he tries to do the right thing and he always seems pro consumer. Besides there are a ton of good people at LTT. It's just easy to point at Linus as the company's flawed character. I feel like people love to hate Linus.
@@RADukura I actually dropped LTT shortly after their M1 MacBook review because I’m pretty sure they sold out to Apple. If you watch their last Intel MacBook review, they uncovered some interesting things about the cpu cooler design that they said they were going to follow-up on when M1 was released. Well, the follow-up never happened, and I started to see signes that LTT was doing much better financially. My trust was lost at that point.
I agree with many of the comments, Jay. Your channel fills the space where we want someone to just grab an upgrade and implement it with plenty of Oopsies. We learn so much from watching you break things or mess up, then regroup and show us what the problem was, then fix it. We love watching you fiddle with things. It reminds me of fixing my car --there's technical instructions, then there's the video where the guy is actually doing the repair, and complaining that if they just moved one bolt a half-inch to the left the whole repair would be ten times easier. I love seeing if there is a shortcut, and what happens when you're actually doing it.
Yes, this. With Steve and his crew you get extreme detail and meticulously collected and distilled data, but have to sit through a 30 minute video full of information and complex charts and graphs. When you really want to get that kind of data there's no substitute to GN. With Jay it's more like hanging out and building a new PC or figuring out some hardware issue on a Friday night with your best friend who happens to be a hugely experienced PC nerd and just having a great time.
watching Jay since like 2013 I can say that it's 100% truth, Steve is when you want the in depth specs of gpu or other stuffs and Jay is when you want a fun video but don't really care about in depth specs
Imo. Jay’s content stagnated a bit for me since so many YT personalities are sharing the same info with similar benchmarks to the point of redundancy. Thats where niche elements come in. What keeps me in the loop for Jay’s channel is literally because it’s Jay and his two other teammates Phil and Nic.
@@mannydcbianco Most people aren't going to get into the gamers nexus level of details in understanding configuration and hardware specific settings. Jay runs into problems that a lot of people will by taking this approach. That's a feature.
Jay, I hope this doesn't come across in a bad way... your videos and content fill a certain space for me and Steve's fills a different space. One cannot replace the other... your approach is home/homelab facing and gives ideas for building and maintaining systems while evaluating product with a consumer focus. For me that is necessary and greatly appreciated. To be honest watching you make mistakes, you don't do that often, reassures me that this is a complex hobby. Steve's approach/content on the other end drills deeply, sometimes more than I can ingest in a single setting, into the engineering aspects of the products and development as well as the consumer protections that are necessary. Looking forward to 2025 content from both of you!!! Keep doing you and stay healthy!
Exactly this, both fill different needs, jay taught me how to build in a fun friendly way, gamers nexus taught me how ram works in detail and how corporate greed is present and can be fought against
@@Defnotabot_ None of these larger channels are, though? He doesn't need to be a "technical authority" (whatever that means) since he usually cites and/or brings such qualified people onto the channel anyway, unlike every other channel. Trying to claim he just "likes to speak as one" is extremely dishonest.
Gotta say, bud, the only way this could come across in a bad way is by prefacing it with "I hope this doesn't come across in a bad way..."😅. Great comment, I feel it speaks exactly to what Jay is best at.
@@xaniso6955 I just didn't want to come across as "Jayz big brother Steve"... the content each of them provide is valuable to me and hit a different need segment... for Jayz channel to be more like Steve or vice versa would compromise the content and value.
Jay wants to evolve. I really respect that. People say, dont change this and dont do that. The man has a right to evolve. Respect that and enjoy the ride.
"Learning how to learn" is spot on! I dropped out of an electronic engineering degree, in part due to financial issues but also because I realised it wasn't what I wanted to spend my life doing, but the skills I gained in university allowed me to walk in to a support position with no IT related qualifications (although I had grown up around computers, both my parents are programmers!). Worked up from there and been in IT over 10 years now :) I wouldn't be here without having learnt to find, qualify and present information properly.
JAY - - "Learning how to learn" is spot on! - - This is so true, @FanterA333! I have been an auto mechanic/technician for 27 years before I realized it was more of a young person's 'game'. So I began teaching, eventually being hired at a local community college to teach automotive technology. The college had a highering requirement of a Master's Degree, or equivalent, but I had only a High School education and I stayed employed at the same college for nearly 20 years until I retired. My point being that you become what you want to be, and do what you want and like, and you will always be successful at it! Keep up the great work and I look forward to 2025. I can't wait to see what becomes of Steve's comments to you about things to change and/or upgrade. 😉
I was a manufacturers rep in the gun business and sales MGR for a distribution company. The only thing I could do to make my company stand out is to add value. You are filling that role for the computer enthusiast. I'm 62 years old and you taught me how to build my own computer something I didn't think I could do. As long as you strive to add value you will always be successful. It seems to me that the Manufactures owe you a great deal because they would never have me as a customer if it wasn't for you. Good Luck JAY and Thank you.
I was also able to build my own computer because of these guys. Not knowing a dam thing, or how to do anything. I seen a PC years ago, and said out loud, there's no way in hell I could ever build my own PC. BUT I did after months of UA-cam, and the 20 series super launch, that PC is going to this day. I've upgraded and had other pcs. All kinds of stuff I could NEVER do without these dudes.
One thing I do miss seeing on your channel Jay, is your hijinks videos. Using orange juice in an open loop to see how it compares to regular coolant. Duct taping an air conditioner to pieces of cardboard to blast a component and see what happens. The videos that come about spontaneously are very entertaining, and break up the monotony of discussions about overpriced gpus, which company is screwing over the consumer this time, etc. A few of these hijinks few a year would be awesome
I think that era is over. All his "buddies" now have some kind of a version of a Lab and he is feeling left out and will try to do "serious" and "Scientific" content moving on. Sad really.
TBF, when I want to know how great a cases airflow is, I go to Steve, when I want to know how easy a case is to build in, I check Jay's videos, so the differentiator needs to stay.
You hit the nail on the head! I watercool all of my systems so it doesn't matter how great the airflow is if it doesn't meet my other needs, and vise versa...I think both of their content styles are necessary...
@brucepreston3927 same, I run a custom loop with a 240 and a 360, so I need to know can air get through the rads, and how easy is it to fit rads in, which that is one of the big things Jay points out
agree and Jay tends to look at the build in from a "non conventional" front like OPEN LOOP on "normal" cases and where and how many rads can be jammed in
Jay: Hey, so be brutally honest about my channel! Its all in good fun 😊 Steve: Well, actually Jay, that's what we came to talk to you about. You see, we've been conducting a multi-year investigation.... Jay: 😢 Edited cause of typo
The fact that Jay asked Steve for a sanity check and Steve obliged... which resulted in this professional respectful interaction is great. You guys are approaching hero status. Thank you for the great video!
honest peer feedback and peer collaboration on improving testing and stuff like this will only drive the community forward as a whole. love to see this kind of collaboration.
@@dolanthefacc879 Yeah- that's what I'm scrolling through the comments trying to figure out too. I let Chat GPT take a stab at it and it sounds like it's simply the age of Heaven make's it less relevant in the age of more advanced technologies and APIs... so I guess it just distills down to a "technical relevance over time" thing. This feels like it's on point.
That was reay nice to see. I have been subscribed to you both in what seems forever at this point. But it was nice to see you both come together like this. I also play with hardware to a ridiculous extent. Typically have 4 to six pc's on the go (gaming / benching as opposed to business and company laptops and desktops). Almost always watercooled to an extreme extent because I like doing it. I get every new premium gpu and cpu to play with and I still learn a great deal. But the fact you also remi d me of the sort of people I would choose to hang out with is a big value add.
I think I’ll be mirroring a lot of similar comments, but I love watching both Steve and Jay for their different styles. While I’m excited to see the new tests and graphs I really enjoy watching the videos of Jay trying a thing, I broke the thing, I fixed the thing. And the videos of just you building pc’s, what parts are still relevant etc. Those videos have helped me learn so much, from having never built a system to now doing complicated custom loops. GN are great for learning the specifics and deep dive.
Honestly, I very much appreciate Jay's more laid back style of content. That's not a criticism of GN (or Jay) in any way, quite the opposite. Both channels have helped me make informed tech purchases over the years, which is especially relevant since I live on a country where sometimes even mid-end electronics can cost the price of a freaking car. When there's a new product release I come to GN to hear all the specs and the minutiae beyond the BS the manufacturer claims. Then I come to Jay to know how much trouble I'll have actually installing and running the part.
I definitely agree with this - I love Steve and his methodology, but after a long day of tech-ing at work, I can't sit through another 30min of presentations on tech unless I'm actively thinking of buying it. Jay is a much more fun vibe, causing chaos (and then fixing it), whilst still having the consumer best interests at heart. Definitely space for all sorts in the tech space 👍
I can agree with your comment. Honestly with Gamers Nexus is that when I am hearing impaired with Cochlear implants (Nucleus 7 model) on both sides and using ReSound PhoneClip+ over BlueTooth for direct streaming from PC through this adapter to my Cochlea implants, it can be tiring and overloaded for my head to hear Steve talking in one without pause and with so much information and unnecessary swearing words that could have been done more in professional way as shown in NZXT Flex program exposed video. The difference with the lawyer interview about the contract part is huge that is better, easier and more professional way to talk, get information and be understandable. That's why I stay away from this channel too much. Of course I don't follow much Gamers Nexus, just few times and based much on this video mentioned above, but I like JayzTwoCents and LTT (only too much sponsor parts and much on US-only stores breaks their videos) better this way of talking. My opinion is just what from I experience when I see on their style of videos. Never seen Level1Tech and der8auer EN channel at all, only video recommendations appearing on right side because they seems to be more niche on my level of tech interest.
@@peterwstacey Jays video you almost feel like you COULD be there doing it with him where as Steve is very technical and a level we "mortals" can not reproduce OR want to reproduce but the content is great for its "use case"
Steve is unapologetic when calling out injustices large and small. I wouldn't call Jay neutral as he's definitely stepped up his accountability of the industry the last few years, but it's like talking to PR versus a death squad if you are a manufacturer looking for a plea bargain.
@@johnmeneses7039 Dude's just a hater. I wish UA-cam gave you more than 3 comments from the channel comment history to look at. But it's just a bunch of repetition with seemingly no answer. Could be wrong but I can't see that.
Steve mentioning that he takes the worst shift during major launches is admirable. I think that is a quality of a great leader and I would love to work for someone like him
@@mikesunboxing That is not fair, just so you know. And in "fairness" if he doesn't mind it and doesn't consider it the worst shift himself he wouldn't have called it that.
@@mikesunboxingI do prefer early starts these days, so I normally totally invert my sleep schedule for big reviews. But that's OK! I'm in it for the chaos. It's fun, and it's different as the owner of the channel obviously. Wouldn't want the team to do that. You must be a long time viewer, which I greatly appreciate, as there was a time I preferred later starts. Many years ago now, though!
I've been watching JayzTwoCents for years and the fact that he has another big tech youtuber on his channel and asks for constructive criticism earned a sub. So many people are absorbed in their own egos and don't want to hear anyone's opinions/suggestions. This is how you show people that a community isn't just about yourself. So many young kids and even adults will take a lot of knowledge/insight into what it means to be great. Thanks for a great video without any ego, Jay!
I've seen some comments to this degree, and I think it's true, when I want hard numbers I usually go to GN, when I want super niche or weird stuff I hit LTT, and when I want what the experience would be like for me, I hit here. Or if I want what feels like a more positive voice I hit here. To me your strength has always been what feels like a more condensed passion for gaming, and so when you're feeling a bit disappointed or hurt by it, that affects me more than GN finding another hardware defect. I also think your experience of 'this is what happened to us, and this is how I fixed it' is so useful. It's really helped me work on some of my own stuff. Like 'our numbers were way lower than what we expected or others were getting' 'oh I had to revert to this bios and change this setting' and that's all really handy, and relatable. I think that's the term I'd best use for your content, relatable. You get frustrated at the same things I would, you make the same mistakes -I- would, and so those are things I can look out for. More data and numbers are definitely good, but I really hope you don't change at least the format of your content much. Also if I got a dream job and got to work with one of the big youtubers yours would be the one I'd want to most, because I feel like the main point of your channel is to condense it down to 'this is what excited enthusiast needs/wants to know.' It's taking techspeak and specs and translating it to laymen's terms.
This first sentence just nails it. Each channel fills a different need based on the perspective at the time. And each channel serves us all as a whole in the end.
Niche? LTT gets weird and niche stuff way after several other better creators do. From servers to strange SBCs. Not even talking about electronics. And If you take away them being "funny", there's no value to take from LTT.
My two favorite techies. Generally speaking: Steve is my 'what is best and who should I buy it from? ' Jay is my 'Things to consider when you but it all together/install.'
That's a bolt statement. Hit me with the examples when he was wrong.. I mean a LOT of examples. Only thing I can criticize on Steve is that he somehow makes scandals more scandalous than they are..I guess that's how u make clicks as a YT channel.. but he doesn't make false claims and his product reviews are rock solid. @@Lockwood360
I like Jay's channel for the same reason I like Top Gear. It's the comedy, entertainment value, and being centered around a hobby that I love. "Ambitious but rubbish" should be accepted just for the entertainment value. I always felt like JayzTwoCents had this feel to it. Hope it doesn't lose that charm.
Great to see the mutual respect you guys have for each other. Kudos to you Jay for wanting to expand and learn more about different sides of things. Can’t wait to see your new content once you and your team figure out what works for you. Can we please start an online petition for Steve and GN to head the yet to be named Department of Hardware Technology Efficiency .. DOTHE
Interesting to hear that Steve has a real actual history and a background. I think most people assume he just popped out of the womb while on a break from writing a disapproving letter to a naughty tech company.
@@edwinlongwellSteve always looks super awkward unless he is in his own studio...I think part of the reason he looks weird in this video is because the table he is sitting at is too tall for him! Jay is a very tall person and Steve is not...
@@brucepreston3927yeah can confirm (saw Jay at a pax event and he is pretty huge) sadly wasn't able to talk to him. I did meet Barnacles and his camera operator though and we talked for a while. Pretty cool experience
Hey Jay, love that you brought on someone to give feedback and kudos for not getting offended. The thing I take from your channel sometimes is the guy who gets bleeding edge stuff, tries it like someone would at home and gets burned by these companies putting out half baked products. I think your "not spending the next 4 hours" is like me at home who can't do that but expects a product to work. But the fact that you come back with your next level of discovery is one of the reasons people come to your channel. So, while I hear what Steve is saying and it's worth incorporating to a certain degree, I think your "every person" perspective of implementing new tech is valuable.
I very much agree. It is usefully to have that kind of perspective with these products. At the end of the day the average consumer barely understands enough to assemble a functioning system so when u have to get into clean windows installs after swapping major components it gets messy. We benefit from the more "every man" approach.
That's not what Steve was referring to with the 4 hour bit. He meant it in regards to specifically information, in order to be more accurate in a video. Jay makes a lot of incorrect statements on his channel when it comes to basic info. It has nothing to do with hoping hardware works out of the box, bad products, builds, or anything like that. That's a completely different issue. He's not saying to change his review style, just his review accuracy. Jay isn't you at home. He's a UA-camr that also happens to be you at home. He's speaking strictly in a manner for making UA-cam videos (from one YT'er to another YT'er) and how much headache it'd save Jay and his team in corrections, apologies, you name it, just to spend a little more time actually looking into the information he's talking about.
These are probably my top 2 DiY PC channels. I think they both do a great job at what they're going for. GN does a great job with the technical analysis of individual components, and I watched dozens of their videos leading up to the Oct/Nov sales to make part decisions. I don't think every channel needs to emulate them because they already do such a comprehensive job. For JTC, I love the enthusiast angle. The example of "I built a thing/I broke a thing/I fixed a thing" resonates with people who want to experiment with builds. While I might go to GN or Hardware Unboxed for specs, the fact that I'm looking at that specific type of part was probably because of a JTC video that got me excited enough to look at those parts in the first place.
I wanna start off to say I really appreciate both of you guys Steve and Jay. I do watch you guys differently. I don’t know this might help I watch Jay when I wanna see a quick and dirty review. I watch Steve when I have time to go over and study the more in depth review neither one is bad, just different purposes and reasons. One quick input just cause you’re asking Jay sometimes you’re testing seems like it’s with strained by a timeframe versus a completion of the test. There are times that comes through in the video I could be wrong, but I’ve watched both of you for years and I will continue to watch both of you for years and I appreciate all the work that is done. Thank you so much.
This is really cool. I think a lot of us watch both your channels, and seeing you pick eachothers brains about methodology and commiserating on the state of both the industry and content creation surrounding it is fantastic. Thanks, Steve! (and Patrick!)
Thanks Steve. Great to see Steve and Patrick sharing thier knowledge and Jay so willing to learn from them. Jay is good, but I look forward to see what the new Jay becomes. Jay with long, silver hair would definitely be different 😂
@@themole70 IDK I like the hair personally. Wish I had the patience to grow mine that long. I get to like 1/3rd and by then the curls become such a pain to manage.

He's known as tech Jesus because of it. Not sure Jay would be known as Gandolf the gray, maybe the Grey Haired Goof. Love watching ya Jay, your not the only goof on jayztwocents
Love this :) In my work we have structured shift "Turn Overs" - a one page form that gets filled in near the end of each shift so the next shift knows what was done on the past shift and if any problems popped up. Keeping those in a project-binder or something gives an easy to digest history of work / testing done. Combine that with an SOP and you'll be able to identify any issues much more easily. The SOP can have sample checklists in it, something super simple like: (test-game "A") Ran OK ✅ FPS: (xxx), Test Failed ✅ What happened: (blue-screened or game froze...). This way you know what to run next and what issues may need a deeper dive. I love both of your channels for different reasons :) You guys do great work and I appreciate the honesty, integrity, and passion. As someone who buys pre-builts for home-use, I don't even qualify as a noob in this space - But both of you have helped me overcome some of my fears when it comes to upgrading piecemeal. Thank you for all the work you put into these videos! Your teams are awesome!
Will also like to add. I learned to build my first pc from watching your videos and haven’t been into pcs very long but because of your channel I was able to understand. Whereas Steve’s channel sometimes or a lot of time I’m scratching my head cause I feel sometimes you have to be more advanced with knowledge in the pc world to full understand what Steve is talking about. So without you jay I would have never been able to build my first pc 4 years ago.
Jay is achieving his final form! Love seeing the comradery here. You and Steve both have great spaces and your own styles. Glad to see you guys hashing out the details and help each other out!
hahaha Steve nailed it. I have mad respect for the guy and he is tech jesus for a reason. I use his stuff when I really need that level of detail. About 9.9/10 though I just don't need that level of detail. He isn't for me, but I completely understand his value and wouldn't take anything away from him and hopes he does this for a long time. I wouldn't say I don't like him... I just don't want to watch him (still subbed tho! gotta support). I'd rather see Jay say I digress 10X in a video, or a fart joke, or a phallic joke, or a joke about what she said about the other guy. I want to see the bloopers and the retakes and the ruined shots thrown in. I want to see him damage a motherboard beyond repair because it was stupid and awesome. I value Steve's super in depth reporting and Jay's derpiness. Jay has great content and it scratches the itch and I for one pray you don't mirror Steve. Steve's right... don't lose your vibe. Love you both!
I appreciate that Steve gives Patrick some well-deserved speaking time too and simply shows respect towards peers. The man is knowledgeable and can voice opinion, this all is win-win-win. I'm looking forward to the results of your new insights Jay. Perhaps an idea is after the main part of the video is where you feel you misfired, be open and upfront about it. You and the team can steer yourself, the audiance can help you steer and your peers could reach out and advice here on after.
I've been a Software QA Engineer for almost 15 years now and I regularly explain my job as "I break things for a living." QA can be amazing, it can also be very stressful - it's all about the culture of Eng vs QA. Sometimes you get amazing engineering teams who really value QA and nothing feels better than having an Eng come over, ask about the bug to get short context beyond the formal write up, then go "awesome, keep it up!" Most Engineers will have an almost adversarial view of QA, but when you get those rare cultures that value QA, this job becomes one of the most enjoyable things. Cheers!
i WAS a software dev at some point ( now i'm into teaching) .. the thing is ..when you spend time coding and send your product to the testing team , then the next day , you have pages of tickets about the things they managed to break.... it's still something . i know they love finding ways to break the logic of my code.
Jay, I watch you because I like being along for the ride of you figuring stuff out. Even when you bork things up it still makes for good content. You almost always deliver it in a humorous and relatable way. My only ask would be that you continue being honest and issuing corrections or making follow up videos when you get new data or information. Steve, I watch you because of your style and that I trust you’ve done research. You’ve actually crossed the line from reviewer to journalist a few times, and I love that. Both you gents keep up the great work!
I love seeing this collab! I love Steve and the guys over at GN because of how technical they are and how deep they go, but as a general user with limited knowledge, I sometimes feel pretty lost. I love JayzTwoCents because of how it really does feel like you're directly talking to me as a general user. Or a beginner. It's clear to the audience you have great knowledge, but being able to kind of "dumb it down" for us really sets you apart for me. And your comment about "That's 3 pieces of content there!" is another thing that endears this channel to me. When you make a mistake or pass on info you later find might be incorrect or misleading, you admit it and make it known asap. Getting some guidance/opinions from GN is a great idea. If you can go deeper while still being able to make the information easy to digest for beginner/novice users, that makes your channel even better. And it also shows that you really care about giving us the best info possible. I always appreciate you, Jay. I can't wait for what you have to offer us for 2025!
Man this is what I'm loving about the UA-cam tech space! The desire to be transparent, evolve and do better, not just stagnate and become irrelevant. I found your channel purely on a whim one day, and have stuck around ever since purely because I respect how open and honest you, Phil, and Nick are about what you're doing, how you went about it, and the challenges you've run across. It's never felt like some large content farm churning out something for entertainment, it's always felt like some buddies inviting us in to share in the same journey.
One of the things around 18:30 regarding writing down processes-- even in the most amateur home space, if you're ever going to do the same thing more than once this is the way. I love the open-minded approach to this, but as other commenters have articulated-- don't lose your style (don't give up good in the pursuit of perfect, yada yada). You 100% have a bigger focus on building and aesthetics therein than the deepest levels of engineering; I definitely come here for that. Attacking gaps YOU think you have is the way to go, and seeking feedback from experts in those areas never hurts. I guess the best way to sum this up is: I love seeing your thought process live, and this video is honestly an example of that in its own way. Good luck into the new year with the new launches!
Jay, let me just say this: I watch four different content pieces, and read one: For harder testing I go GN/HB For Basic B1tch I go LTT For the every man I go to you. For Linux and much more technical I go Wendell For deep dive Linux stuff I go read Phoronix. You have a place in the review space, and I hope these "impartments" won't ruin your current style.
You gotta be careful with Phoronix, the guy who runs it can be a bit..... enthusiastic about some things and misreport what actually happens with patch sets, but he's overall a decent guy from what I can tell. I'm subscribed to LTT so I can see the shitstorm that happens when that house of cards finally collapses.
@@Lockwood360 Name one instance that GN has been wrong and hasn't immediately posted a correction and covered it in the very next episode. The goal isn't to make no mistakes, it's to make as few mistakes as possible and address them when you screw up. GN does this.

@philstephes Steve Burke claimed RGB contained a security exploit but when he made that statement in a video, the alleged security exploit had already been patched out by all major manufacturers. He never mentioned it was patched, and for years he still kocks RGB as being a security exploit or portrays RGB software as some sort of spyware. The truth is, a lot of people care about RGB and he needs to accept people want to know more about it.
For me Jay's most banger videos are when he explains things like how he explained how to fix the 14900K Video Memory Allocation error. Without that video I probably would have thrown my computer through a wall out of frustration. I appreciate the tutorial videos like that, that are geared towards like intermediate/enthusiast PC owners because we may know a lot more than your average joe but we still need help sometimes too
Exactly! Paul's Hardware put out a video going step by step through installing windows from a thumbdrive and I've referenced back to it everytime I build a system. Videos like that, which Jay also does frequently, are invaluable tools
This is exactly what Linus should have done when people figured out that their testing processes were hot garbage. So cool to see you guys just having a conversation, no script.

@@jayhill2193 it would make sense if YT asked you wether you needed translation.. like they offer auto captions so they translate the title too.. but they don't tell you so every french person thinks it's a french video --Which is unlikely since Jay barely speaks english--
I love this video. Things need tidied up, but not radically changed. Better benchmarks and processes are needed, but you definitely need to keep your style too which is easy to digest for consumers on the more basic level. Little mistakes with writing need cleaned up. If you look back at AMD Ryzen videos in particular you will notice lots of small mistakes with information regarding the platform and more. I look forward to seeing the changes and tbh congratulations on wanting to improve, loving the vibe!
What I love about your channel is the practical approach. It's those videos you take time to explain fittings for 15 minutes, or just do complex maintenance on a build. No other channel does this!
This is awesome. Jay being very ADD "oh cool, lets check the thing now!" style is very entertaining. Anything that can help him keep that enthusiasm and his style while getting reliable results is a plus.
I’ve been a software QA tester for 7 years. I love breaking stuff! But I’ve also made the mistake of OK’ing something that went to production and broke everything. This job can be stressful but also very rewarding.
Actually seeing you both on a video together is quite refreshing. I never once thought you guys was competing against each other either. I watch you both for different reason but i love you both for that. Definitely more water cooling needs to come back, & i totally get water cooling has had a hard few years. But i genuinely hope the path your taking works out for you and i will continue to watch you both as you have built my knowledge and helped me decide my own gaming pc path and case.
Jay invariably helps me get on top of the new technologies every time I need to upgrade or build a new system. Steve has this very concise and direct news style plus a metric ton of integrity and sarcasm. Love them both, though I regularly view GN while Jayz is more on a as needed basis for me.
There are reasons for all of these streamers to exist. I use Jay for quick info that is generally objective and fairly accurate. If I want to deep dive an issue, I will turn to Steve's content. Linus has become less objective and too biased for my liking. It is more entertainment focused.
One of the things I like about Linus which he does is bring greater awareness of larger scale tech to people in a way they can understand. He does some interesting bits on enterprise level equipment and concepts. Some of his weirder videos are based on super high level concepts he's somehow figured out how to shrink down to a hobby level.
Objective? Accurate? Lol. I find his channel to be purely entertainment. He tends to go with the flow and not really research much into what he talks about. Lost count of how many correction videos and comments Jay has to do because of the surface level look. He's never really learned from that, but that's okay, because he does correct himself often, unlike Linus. Jay is my "I want to turn my brain off and hang out with the boys" channel, with GN being my "I want peerless integrity and well researched information in long format."
Yup totally agree with this. Also agreed I can't watch Linus anymore. Especially after the billet incident. He actually almost killed that company because of his own mistakes and incompetence
8:30 Thats one thing I'm very grateful to my teachers in programming, they taught us how to look for the solution instead of teaching us the solution. On exams they would actually give us the ability to google how to do things, look at forums etc. At the end of the class then she would place everyone in front of the projector and we would explain the solutions we found, then she should show us her own solution. Honestly my best skill right now.
Glad to see the tech channels pushing their peers to improve and respectfully holding each other accountable. Its good for the consumer that these guys can pick each other's brains to provide the best data, while maintaining their own style.
JayzTwoCents had the best AMD core parking video the planet has ever seen. I ended up getting Revo Uninstaller (Jay's recommendation) and I was able to finally fix my AMD 16-core performance issues in games. Because I'm an avid gamer and in competitive leagues; this was HUGE for me. One of the best tech videos I've ever seen. Great job
I was backed into a software testing position from a low level IT support position and was the most hated person in the company. It was a lonely existence so if you are wanting to work in this field I recommend working for the largest company you can find or try to merge the testing responsibilities with another position or make it a shared responsibility.
The dynamics as i see it: Jay is the everday day jack of all trade IT man, keeping it simple and fun but down to earth. Steve is the tehnical author, hyper focused and driven on the little things. Linus is the crazy rich uncle, he knows his IT but needs EXTREAM in his life without limitations.
Don't forget about Louis Rossman is the loud neighbor, but happy to have him on your side or to fix some delicate piece of circuitry, and Level1Techs being the underestimated tech hoarder that oozes knowledge and Linux
I watch gamers Nexus for their in depth reviews that often goes over my head but gives me something to learn and watch your channel for learning, reviews, and mainly it's feels fun. Great channel
awesome content! Been watching Jay and GN the past few weeks and have learned so much more about computers. I enjoy the different styles between the two of you. I was into computers back in 2003 and attended a computer maintenance and integration vocational class my high school offered. I did not keep up with it after graduation. Now that life has settled down and I have some free time I'm thinking about getting into the gaming PC world. WOW have things changed since 2003 LOL. I been watching videos to try and learn where to start, with a goal of one day building a up to date gaming PC. Keep
Been around for the whole 10 yrs and longer! I really miss the early days for you, Linus, Newegg crew, NCIX, Barnaclees, Ryan Shroud. Ahhh, the good ole days. We've lived through the blow up of professional UA-cam creators and tech.
@evilone001 ahhh, yep forgot to mention them. I do miss when Logan, pistol, and wendal were an oddball team lol. Even bought the music album they did. Austin....he was better back then than today imo. I remember feeling pretty bad when his place burnt down. I guess marques as well should go into this group.
@@PinchCactus agreed. They weren't so huge and all original fun content. I miss the unboxing of every component from back in those days. Now there's less of that. Pauls hardware does a decent job. Kyle and Joanne disappeared from the main channels even though they still did content. The Newegg unboxing were great.
@@Superacerc Kyles tech impressions video and Pauls drunken m.2 excitement , "Hey whats up guys, Joker here", Wendels face behind the monitors and The Tek in general will live rent free in my head forever.
I just wanna thank Jay and Steve, and everyone involved in both channels. Yall help us noobs a lot. I've looked at both of you guys so much over the past 5 years I've been gaming on PC. Coming from being a console only gamer, the videos helped a bunch! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! 🎄❄
When I want GN stuff, I go to GN. When I want JTC stuff, I go to JTC. It's great to solicit ideas and do some introspection, but at the end of the day, I personally feel better knowing the content that each of you makes individually (as well as other channels) are out there, and I'm here for it. Happy Holidays!
I love the support and comraderie and "healthy competition" that exists between Jay's Two Cents and Gamer's Nexus. It' wonderful to see, as I have been subscribed to both channels for many years. Kudos to you both, and wishing for an awesome 2025. Thank you.
I love Jay, Steve, and Linus specifically cause they're all so different and I know I'll get a different insight into products from different tech levels. Linus is the silly trying to be corporate, Steve is the super technical, Jay is the normie uncle.
Thanks Steve. Jay I love you improving the channel. I, personally, don't want to see the 24 testing cycle that Steve described. Not saying that isn't value added, but Steve and GN fills that space nicely and I've always felt you give me a more down to earth, or practical, experience. like GN is my textbook and you're the teacher (if that makes since).
Thank you so much. A coming trend is running LLMs locally hosted, and I'm sticking my toes into it. I have not been a gamer, but watch you'all all the time to glean insights into computer functioning. My GPU has never seen a game, has seen many a LLM. I would posit that testing for gaming and now AI LLMs may broaden your horizons. Cheers. Thanks again
Jay, I love your channel and I understand the need to improve but honestly, I love your style so don't stray much from it. GN I go to Steve for the more deep dive information stuff. LTT I just don't watch anymore since they always have stuff that no one can ever afford or get their hands on. Great that you three got together and learn from each other. It really shows how much you really love this stuff and aren't just in it for the money and fame. Lol
Steve has such great moral and ethical standards. It’s a rare find on UA-cam these days and has regularly pointed me in the right direction for purchases that I’ll be happy with. Glad to see some of this is coming over to Jay.
This is a great video. Steve and his team have become the gold standard for good reason. That said, I like watching Jay’s videos for the character they bring as well. It’s great to want to evolve as the times and the hobby evolves, and I can think of no better model to help you in that than the team at GN. It’s such a huge field, the realm of data required for case reviews is so distinct from cooler reviews, motherboard reviews, graphics reviews… you could easily sink millions into developing test methodology and capability for these things. I think, for my part, the best thing to do would be to choose a few domains you want to dive deeper into and really work on developing robust methodologies in those arenas. For the others? Let that influence you, but don’t lose sight of what’s worked for you so far. You don’t need to be the best at everything. No one is expecting you to drop six figures on a hemi-anechoic chamber, Steve already did that!
A great reason not to view the other channels as competition is many people looking into a product will get information from multiple sources with different viewpoints and personalities
Oh we are so back. Jay, as a long time viewer since roughly 2012-2013, I started watching when I had just started building my own first PC. I learned all the basics from you and what to look out for when searching for new parts and how to tweak my hardware with firmware and software. Over time, the more I've learned, the less I needed your type of content to learn about what's new and, at the risk of sounding rude, a little surface level. I'll check in here and there, but I will admit I've gone from watching all of your videos to watching 1 in 20. I'm excited to see you evolve and go for what you think works, and what works for you. We're all human and we all have our own interests. I'll stay subscribed, and I'll stay loyal to telling people new to the computer hobby that JayzTwoCents is the guy to check out. Unlike Linus Tech Tips which is basically a parody channel now.
I love both of your channels! Jay is my short and sweet guy, and Steve is where I go for a deep dive into the topic. Both are great channels. LOVE THE COLLABORATION.
With regards to Jay possibly jumping the gun on some things, resulting in content that has a "lets do this", an "oops I messed up", and a "this is how to fix it" type breakdown... While improving upon work flow and whatnot could be a good thing, I think this type of content resonates with a large number of people within the tech community. I know I'm not the only one who sometimes feels like they know what they are doing in a given situation, only to later realize they may have been the cause for something not working properly, and then having to figure out what went wrong and find a resolution. It could even be it's own playlist/sub-genre of Jays content. The "Learn from my mistakes" playlist. Can have more of a comedic approach to these types of videos while also helping others not make the same mistakes you have made. I think it's super relatable to more of the community than you might think :)
Just a casual consumer here : when I first started getting into PC builds and building my first rig, Jay you were very helpful with what products to go with and on how to build a rig, that was 6 years ago, as my knowledge has grown nexus gamers content is something I watch when I need information regarding a new product and reliability with what I already have. The UA-cam world needs you both.
Thanks, Steve.
Back to you, Steve.
Thanks, Steve.

From a creator standpoint, the most valuable lesson I took away from all this is you are only as good as your team, and it's impossible to do everything alone. Such a sick collab, thanks guys!

i have been saying this forever, JAY ADD TIME STAMPS AND CHAPTERS! you have SOOOO much good technical content for us to look back on, but flipping through the whole video when we are looking for one technical piece you talk about is a nightmare.
the answer is to appreciate all the technical pieces :)
@@nickdee24Bruh.
This!!!!!
I think you got the wrong channel saying good technical content :)
Good idea, timestamps help heaps
As somebody who watches this channel, LTT, GN, Paul's Hardware, and Hardware Unboxed, each of you all add something unique to the tech space. I don't even need to agree with something, hearing what each channel has to say about something is worth taking the time to watch/listen. I love reviews because I can't afford to be in the space and keep current, while more tech stuff is just interesting. It's also fun to see these channels get together for stuff like this.
Great list. Those are my favs too. They all compliment each other in various ways.
I dropped LTT from my list when Linus’s pride got in the way of accuracy. Now mine own is: GN, JTC, Hardware Unboxed, Paul’s Hardware and optimum tech
@@RADukura Except that was really never happening.
Steve’s an auditor, Jay is an entertainer by style. Both offer great content in their own way that we love.
💯
Agreed, but Steve is far from a technical authority based on his own admissions in this video. He just likes to speak as one.

" Evolving " is crucial in all that we do.
The industry/the competition is forcing him to change. But he's set in his ways!
This.
Worked up from there and been in IT over 10 years now :)
I wouldn't be here without having learnt to find, qualify and present information properly.
Totally yeah it can. You could go into new fields by pure nerdiness alone. It happened a few times here.
This. ⬆️
I go to Steve for the technical aspects/reviews, I go to Jay to see how to do sh*t.

@brucepreston3927 same, I run a custom loop with a 240 and a 360, so I need to know can air get through the rads, and how easy is it to fit rads in, which that is one of the big things Jay points out
agree and Jay tends to look at the build in from a "non conventional" front like OPEN LOOP on "normal" cases and where and how many rads can be jammed in
100% this!

Love how they have Heaven running in the background because they know Steve hates it. Great trolling there Jay ;)
Why though?
Yeah his content is a bit more accessible to a hobbyist audience. GN is also a lot more serious in tone than the more light-hearted JTC videos.
I watch Jay to see how well it works, Steve to find out why it works, and Linus to see if it will still work after its been dropped.
"People come to you, because they might not like me."
That is some incredible humility from Steve.
Steve is unapologetic when calling out injustices large and small. I wouldn't call Jay neutral as he's definitely stepped up his accountability of the industry the last few years, but it's like talking to PR versus a death squad if you are a manufacturer looking for a plea bargain.

You must be a long time viewer, which I greatly appreciate, as there was a time I preferred later starts. Many years ago now, though!
Like most small business owners
Or it's ADHD. 🤣
The humility to ask Steve for candid comments/critiques is admirable. Love both channels
It takes a brave person to invite Gamer's Nexus to critique your product or your channel. Steve's blunt honesty is refreshing.
Jay KNOWS his hardware testing is NOT "mature" like GN or hardware unboxed and he WANTS to IMPROVE his procedures
I had to drop LTT. Linus constantly talking how much money has and spends got old. Then, every video almost felt like a tech QVC of ad sponsors.
Niche? LTT gets weird and niche stuff way after several other better creators do. From servers to strange SBCs. Not even talking about electronics. And If you take away them being "funny", there's no value to take from LTT.

Interesting to hear that Steve has a real actual history and a background. I think most people assume he just popped out of the womb while on a break from writing a disapproving letter to a naughty tech company.
He has posted video/s of himself downhill Mountain Biking.
No, I will keep believing Steve popped out of the womb when ASUS announced increased profits.

Whereas Steve’s channel sometimes or a lot of time I’m scratching my head cause I feel sometimes you have to be more advanced with knowledge in the pc world to full understand what Steve is talking about. So without you jay I would have never been able to build my first pc 4 years ago.

hahaha Steve nailed it. Cheers!

Jay, I watch you because I like being along for the ride of you figuring stuff out. Even when you bork things up it still makes for good content.

Jay, let me just say this:
I watch four different content pieces, and read one:
For harder testing I go GN/HB
For Basic B1tch I go LTT
For the every man I go to you.
For Linux and much more technical I go Wendell
For deep dive Linux stuff I go read Phoronix.

Steve Burke claimed RGB contained a security exploit but when he made that statement in a video, the alleged security exploit had already been patched out by all major manufacturers. The truth is, a lot of people care about RGB and he needs to accept people want to know more about it.

Better benchmarks and processes are needed, but you definitely need to keep your style too which is easy to digest for consumers on the more basic level. Little mistakes with writing need cleaned up.
Yeah i agree, Linus has become more of a walking advertisement over the last few years and has become less reliable.
Objective? Accurate?
And minus is not even entertaining
