      I've owned/commuted/raced my Warrior for about 8 years now. Late last season I got a hell of a deal on a VTX1800. I wasn't looking for another motorcycle but this was one of those "can't pass it up" deals (about $2500 under book, less than 5500 miles). I was going to flip it but the VTX is more comfortable than the Warrior, so I'm keeping it - at least for now. I like the VTX but LOVE the Warrior.

    I own a 2002 Yamaha Warrior totally Custom starting with 5 Star RC Component Chrome Wheels on it with the brake mechanism attached to the Pulley, Chromed swing arm, Chromed forks, actually Custom chromed parts all over the bike. Barron handlebars, Stiletto pegs, Rinehart Shorty mufflers, Stage 4 engine kit with porting, and Custom flame paint job and more. A total Hot-Rod, nicked named Cruel Jewels...Love the sound of the Velocity stacks and the Crackling sound of the mufflers... It will do mid 11 seconds in the quarter mile. Not quite as fast as the new V-Max but a Beautiful and Fun riding machine...

      Quick question if you do not mind me asking: How comfortable is the Warrior to ride for say 12 hours? Can it be done without breaking out the neoprene air-cushion and sheepskin I currently use on my 2006 FZ6 for such trips?

    • @illsuspect
      @illsuspect 5 років тому +1

      @@DavionSobek honestly it would be tough to ride long distance. Theres people that do it but i would need more comfortable bars, highway pegs, and a windscreen. With Stock set up, your a little scrunched forward.

    • @DavionSobek
      @DavionSobek 5 років тому

      @@illsuspect Yeah, I sat on a similarly styled bike recently and it was not something I would enjoy. Coincidentally I just test rode a 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Nomad yesterday and was grinning like a complete idiot the whole time. Recently serviced and with less than 19000KM, I think I found my new bike.
      I originally thought about selling my current bike (the aforementioned FZ6) but for what it was valued at I felt that it would not be worth it and the riding styles are so different that they both scratch completely different itches.

    • @DavionSobek
      @DavionSobek 5 років тому +1

      @@dfhowes Hmm, yeah. I am only 27 and an athletic powerlifter and I still struggle to get comfortable on my bike for long distances despite being fit and flexible. When I was 23 I did a 2000KM journey from Saskatchewan to Vancouver in 36 hours and was sore for days afterwards despite frequent stops and stretches. Never doing that again, unless I have a bike that is comfortable enough.
      I said it screw it and went with the Vulcan Nomad on Thursday and spent all day riding it and it never not felt luxuriously comfortable for that entire duration. I still get tingles thinking about riding a Warrior but the Vulcan can really rip and until I actually have a niche it could fill or get promoted at work then it will have to wait on the back burner.
      In the meantime you will have to enjoy yours for me. XD

      The Vrod is smaller displacement, but has more HP. The warrior has WAY more torque. Of the line the Warrior should smoke the Vrod, but the Vrod will have longer legs. My Warrior will hit 140, but i still think a Vrod would outrun me in the long run.

    102” = 1700cc roughly. I thought the Raider was more of a muscle bike, with a 1900

      Baird's Bikes Videos yeah I’d always heard it referred to as a “Road Star 1700” and I know the actual displacement isn’t ever the same as the number it’s given

    Warrior vs VTX 1800!

    • @mrquicky
      @mrquicky 6 років тому +1

      usmarinecuv902 I suspect this bike will beat a vtx1800. It's very light compared to most bikes in this class. I expect it would probably walk away from a kawasaki 2000. It's the fastest two cylinder I've ever ridden. Definitely faster than the Kawasaki 1600 and 1700 bikes.

      Just did some internet research. Apparently, the Yamaha is 658 pounds fully fueled. A VTX1800 is exactly 100 pounds more. The Yamaha has a shamefully low 8.3 to 1 air-cooled compression ratio. The Honda has a slightly less shameful 9.0 to 1 with its liquid cooling.

    • @dfhowes
      @dfhowes 5 років тому

      I own both. I took both of them out to the strip and they did about the same. The VTX has more HP and torque but weighs about 120 lbs. more. The Warrior does far better in the corners, but the VTX is more comfortable.
