I'm 80 years old and find it very hard to find good makeup for my skin, for my totally white hair etc. Older women such as myself need lots of help. We have wrinkles, pale skin, brows that cannot wear dark colors even though they are sparse. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of what is possible. So thankful that you are sticking primarily with drugstore products! I hate it when I find a creator who suddenly switches to using nothing but high end. There is no need to spend more than 10 or $15 on any product for the face. There are so many great economical options!

with high end, you're mainly just paying for a fancy name to be etched on the bottle. I bought a very pricy lipstick at almost 40 bucks .... It ended up being EXACTLY like a Milani lipstick that I already had that I paid 10 bucks for. I swear it was literally the Milani one except with a different name on the bottle. They just want you to pay extra for that. Rip off half the time. I can't stand "influencers" who bad mouth drugstore products. Not everyone has a ton of cash to be spending on wants such as make up when everything around us is rising in price. Was just watching a UA-camr the other day who spend over 1,000 dollars on a "self care" routine. The candles alone that she had costed 100 dollars each. Ridiculous honestly.

@@palestar828 A lot of makeup products are made in big factories, and the only difference is the labels put on them. L"Oreal is well known for selling dupes of Lancome products; L'Oreal owns Lancome.
The only products where I would advocate buying department store brands are foundation and concealer. It can be very tricky finding products that work for your skin type and skin shade.
For example, I have very fair, dry skin. Most foundations are geared toward oily or normal skin types. My skin is also sensitive, so I must use alcohol and fragrance free products. The Maybelline Dream BB Fresh beauty balm works well for me as a tinted moisturizer, but I've tried several drugstore concealers, and no luck so far. I'll try the Revlon Awaken concealer; maybe that will be a winner.
And yes, I tried the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer. It was OK, but I hated the sponge tip applicator! What genius came up with that! If they'd package it in a tube with a doe foot concealer, it might work for me.
I have been rediscovering Elf products. I think they look high end, they perform high end, and they don't cost a lot of money. They are all definitely hidden gems!

I love drugstore makeup and skin care products. Actually most of the things I use every day are drugstore products. I really can’t afford to buy much high end. I put myself into debt buying from Sephora and other expensive stores. It wasn’t the smartest thing to do.

Same here. I stick with drugstore but I like seeing the high end and it can always be duped with what I have. Lol. Not the makeup but the look in the end is the same vibes. I had to put a halt to buying makeup and use what I have and love it..
Since watching beauty you tubers for the last year or so, I have figured out that a lot of the high end make up and skincare are highly overrated. Charlotte Tillbury being a big one. I would love to know the actual costs to make these products sans all of the unnecessary packaging!!! So many of her products have been duped!! Using plain packaging and containers would allow most people to afford the product!! That makes more sense to me!!!!
I agree. I'm 35 and never really bought high end products in my life. Can't afford it... What I really don't understand though is WHY on earth do people go to Sephora or Ulta to buy products from the drugstore. If you go there to buy drugstore make up, you're doing it WRONG. It's like people are embarrassed to be seen at Walmart or something so they will pay top dollar at Sephora for the same exact product that they could have gotten for ten dollars at Walmart instead of twenty. It makes absolutely no sense to me. I would NEVER go to Sephora to buy a drugstore item. You're getting robbed big time.

I think the no.7 lift and luminate powder is definitely high end quality and the packaging is nice too. It's so smoothing on the skin. 💜

My favorite setting spray is by Believe Beauty, the line found only at Dollar General. It's their Makeup Perfecting setting spray with the blue stripe. It has the most beautiful mist, takes away the powder-y look and my makeup really does last all day long. I apply at around 6am and don't usually wash my face 'til about 8pm and I only have a slight shine on my nose. Love this stuff and it's only $4.50!! Um, FOUR bottles for under $20? Yes please!!!

Three years ago I switched to only affordable makeup. My favorites include: Elf MInt Melt primer. Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator (I LOVE this product for mature skin), the NYX Bare With Me concealer for under the eyes, and the Wet n Wild Incognito concealer for spot treatment. I also switched from an Hourglass powder to the Elf Halo Glow powder! Also, the Maybelline City Bronzer, Mlani Baked Blush-Luminoso, Elf Bake Highlighter-Moonlight Pearls, Covergirl Micro Fine brow pencil, Essence Lash Princess-green one, the Catrice Illuminating setting spray, and the Elf Lip Plumping gloss in Champagne Glam. I also use the Elf Bite sized eyeshadow palettes, plus the Essence Dancing Green eyeshadow palette!
Wow, that’s a full face of recommendations! The ELF plumping gloss is the best I’ve ever used and continuously repurchase. Lash princess mascara I tried earlier this year and it’s a fav. I’m definitely gonna try some of the other items you mentioned! Thanks for sharing🙂

I had to retire early because of my health, and I took a year to buy and try out drugstore makeup to replace my high end products. I was able to do this easily and no longer buy any high end makeup or skincare!!
The maybeliene fit me loose powder is amazing. Sometimes I like it better for setting then my Laura mercier powder
I don't know how "hidden" this one is, but the L'oreal Flash Cat Eye liquid liner is hands down the best liner that I've ever used. The pigment is great, it dries down matte, and the stencil is a lifesaver for when my shaky hands won't cooperate.

I've been wanting to get that one. Is the stencil worth it or did they just add it to make it look different and make people want to try it out? To me I don't know how different or better it can be from the thousands of other drugstore liquid liners 🤷🏼♀️ and that's why they added the stencil- as a selling point

L'Oréal true match foundation has become my go to instead of Estee Lauder .Goes on so smoothly, covers my red nose and cheeks and less dry looking.

Thanks for the suggestions. My favorite drugstore gem, it's actually not really hidden, is the Wet n Wild tinted hydrator. I used to only use Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. I was so sad when it was discontinued. The Wet n Wild is a total dupe, I love it. The only downside is the limited shade range, but I make it work.☺
This is the ONLY complexion product I use anymore. After using it for the first time in July, I haven't used any other product!!!

The L.a girl be you palette is AMAZING. Blends easy, colors are beautiful and it lasts all day!
If you like the Milk makeup hydro-grip primer; you’ll love the Essence long wear gripping primer. The Ulta brand clear brow gel is just as good as the ABH clear brow gel. I love the Real Technique’s miracle powder sponge for applying foundation. It gives a great airbrushed look. For under eye brightening, the Ulta under eye brightening cream stick is just as good as the Becca one. I also love the elf brightening concealer for all day coverage. The flower beauty cream blush sticks are as good as the Fenty cream blushes. No fading, and buildable. I’m still loving the Honest Beauty tinted lip balms for great color and long lasting moisturizing balm that partially sets down. So less transfer. For setting spray, the Essence 18h long wear setting spray is a dupe for the UD all nighter setting spray. My makeup stays with little fading even when working outside on our homestead farm all day.
Rimmel eye liner in Brown has a slight shimmer way better than Mac Teddy and Pixie Bronze.
It’s a great liner but MAC Teddy is such a better color and is way more dimensional. The Rimmel is so much more flat and doesn’t brighten my brown eyes like Teddy!

Hi I live in the UK so my picks may be a little different. Kiko shadow sticks rival laura mercier, by Terry or Bobbi Brown. The Kiko water shadows are amazing and that almost gel to powder formula that we normally only see from the likes of Dior. Catrice makes really good lipsticks - most have pretty packaging and a decent shade range, but they really perform. Essence, Revlon and Kiko all make excellent eyeliners that stay in the waterline all day, but don't cost a fortune. The flower beauty blush bombs perform just as well as many high end cream/liquid blushes. Catrice makes some of the best highlighters around that are a bit more subtle/wearable and some are that gel to powder formula that feels so expensive. Just a few of my hidden gems lol. Best wishes.

I love all things Elf for starters! They come out with the most high quality products for cheap prices. Their shadow sticks are amazing as eyeliners. They do not run down my oily eyes! Any L'Oreal mascara and foundation products are amazing, especially Lash Paradise *chefs kiss*... Milani Baked Blushes are amazing as well. They rival high end. I love the Butter Bronzer from Physicians Formula. I have had mine for years now and it still works like a charm. I consider Colourpop drugstore so... anything from Colourpop is amazing!
I have a hidden gem in the wet and wild primer + serum in the blue bachukiol formula. I think it makes me makeup look really nice and the skincare benefits are really there! I feel like my skin has improved since I started using it.

Love the Elf Wow Brow! I don't wear makeup since I retired, but need to use something on brows or they disappear as they're thin & gray.
I recently picked up the Makeup Revolution Vintage Lace Highlighter to add a little sparkle when I went to the ren fair. And it was like *Bam!* I paired it with the vintage lace blush and it was sooo pretty! I also love Revolution's eyeshadows as well. With the NYX shadow primer, I was able to walk around all day and not look like everything was melting off my face

Two faves, both of which have been around approximately forever: Cover Girl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation (just go a little darker than you think you need to account for the white swirl) and Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Goldpearl Plum
OH! and I almost forgot, I wear this EVERY SINGLE DAY: Hard Candy Stroke of Gorgeous Brown Waterproof Felt Tip Liner in Fudging Around

Saw this and bought the elf wow brow as a replacement for glossier as I’m trying to save money and it is perfect, just as you described, thank you.
I love the Flower Beauty Heatwave bronzer in Sunrise. It is the perfect cool toned color…no orange!! And while I typically don’t like luminous finishes this does not highlight pores or texture.
I also love Flower Beauty Day Glow Glaze. On days where I want a highlight but something natural looking, this is it. It does dry down so it isn’t sticky.

Love the Believe Beauty (from Dollar General) foundation and 6 pan eyeshadow. Hard Candy brow gel has fibers in it and adds volume to my tiny brows.

Maybelline's Colorsensational Lipsticks are at the forefront of my mind since I just submitted them as my pick for Allie Glines' Top 10 According to You series. Huge range of colors, high pigmentation, comfortable formula that doesn't look dry on my generally dry lips.
Neutrogena also has a beautiful glowy primer with SPF 15 in their Healthy Skin line. I've tried a few glowy bases at this point and this one still looks the best.
Joah is such a good brand. The brushes are soft and do a great job of applying products.
I recently tried SheGlam’s foundation balm from SHEIN. Love it! I’m going to try some of their other products as well. Love your videos! 🥰

Great video! Some of my drugstore favorites are Milani prep and hydrate Rose Primer, Milani Anti Gravity mascara, Neutrogena Radiant setting spray. I love Revlon’s Skin Lights in Daybreak Glimmer. Better than some high end highlighters I have😊

At the beginning, when you asked for our hidden gems, I instantly knew mine! Revlon Colorstay Longwear Makeup for combination/oily skin. And then I was so happy when I saw that you had chosen the the Colorstay concealer! We’re on the same wavelength! I’ve been using Colorstay foundation for around 15 years and I’ve never found anything that works better for me and my oily skin. From time to time I’ve tried the newest, greates thing at Sephora, but I always end up back with Colorstay. I’ve never found anything better! ❤❤❤

I’ve been watching you for a little while now, and I just wanted to thank you for showing me a new way to apply my eyeshadow. Most people I watch apply their transition shade, and do their metallic/shimmer last. I try to do this, but with hooded lids, my results rarely look the same. This morning I tried it the way you seem to do it…applying the shimmer on the lid first and then blending with a transition shade. Voila! It works great! Thank you!!! Catrice mattifying waterproof setting powder. The only thing I’ve found that keeps my concealer on all day over blemishes, even under a mask, and always looks smooth. It was a Zabreena recommendation a few years back! ❤
My favorite bronzer is still the Milani Silky Matte Bronzing Powder. It is not overly pigmented, blendable, and always lasts me the entire year with daily use. It is SOOOO GOOD and definitely better than high end. I have tried other bronzers and always go back to it.
Loved this video! Thanks for the tip on the Joah lipstick. Looks there will be a few in my future. I have a hidden gem to share! Covergirl Exhibitionist 24-hour Kohl Eyeliner. This is the PERFECT eyeliner for hooded eyelids. It stays on all day even when I forget or just don't have to time to use pressed setting powder first. On the hottest and most humid of days in summer this makeup DOES NOT MOVE OR EVEN TRANSFER! I'm planning to buy more when my NABLA eyeliner stick runs out. Covergirl is half the price and a bit better in the no transfer department. Yet, is easily removed like I was wearing no makeup at all.
I love the Believe lipliners. Only lipliner I use. It's so creamy and stays on my lips a long time. Believe beauty is so overlooked and has so many great products.

Idk if you've done this yet but can you please make a video explaining what make up concealers do and premier and things like that, that some ladies might not use stuff like that so there fore they don't know what it is or what it does.... One of my newest faves is the la girl setting spray in the clear bottle. Contains glycerin just like mac fix plus and has a very short ingredient list which is great for sensitive skin. There are no reviews of this product would love your thoughts on it!!!

I absolutely love my Covergirl brow powder that I use. It is a light brown and looks good with my red hair. I use it all the time and i have only put a dent in it. I also love all of my Colourpop makeup. Colourpop is my favorite brand ever.

So I've been really on a natural blush kick lately and I recently got an Almay blush from Walmart called nearly nude it's so pretty especially if you add a tiny bit of pink blush over it. and a nyx nude lipstick from the Dollar tree called pure nude and it's a peachy nude color that I was so happy I found for a dollar well... $1.25 I also have a 24 hour wet packed powder eyeshadow from L'Oreal infallible called (amber rush.) Very pigmented and looks lovely on many skin tones. Probably my most favorite eyeshadow out of drugstore shadows. If I could only choose one drugstore shadow for the rest of my life, I would choose that one.
