Finally someone who includes stock cooler thermals in their reviews.
Yes, but where's the Hardware Unboxed "Buttshot" you might ask 😏
So true! Budget buyers will often go with that cooler.
@@TEKDAD then budget buyers should go for the 10400F. It's faster on stock cooler.
And then compares it to an AIO that is roughly the same price as the CPU with stock cooler.
@@TEKDAD I think the difference here might be overlooked.
I bought a Noctua for my Ryzen, as it's nice and quiet and maybe allows better speeds - but if budget wasn't an issue, I know I'd have been fine with the included one.
Definitely not the case here.. it's the chintziest little cooler I've ever seen. Can't see how anybody building a PC would want it - so only people who use it will have done so 'accidentally'
This is the true gem of the 11th gen lineup
Same as 11700F.That cpu cost same as 3700x and its way faster.
@@HEAD123456 Way faster is maybe a bit of an overstatement... This gen cost more than the last while being equivalent in many workloads and not too much of an improvement in gaming, and the new chips consume way too much. Yeah it's a great competition to AMD in a way, but it's still not as great as it should be. And you're comparing a 2019 chip with a 2021 one and the first one is often out of stock which increase its price.
@@trixniisama it's at the same price so comparison is legit. i don't think amd will bring that presumably $329 5700X anytime soon as long as they keep selling out anything they currently made, and because they're focus in high margin enthusiast market with overpriced 6 core 5600x and 8 core 5800x, budget mainstream segment is wide open for intel
@@HEAD123456 but 5700x though...
@@zanji5582 Unless they can slash the price by nearly $100, and can deal with the heat output issues, it's not going to be a great chip. The 5800x is widely available right now because It's a bad value flamethrower.

That's all of Ali's videos. This video is just 6:25. All meat, no fat. So informative, vs so many other tech channels fumbling around, spending too much time on single game charts, ranting, getting off track and creating 30-40min video reviews.
OT is my go to channel for reviews these days. I'm tired of the much bigger tech channels' style of over-reacting, mostly angry, to stuff. Their "bait-ey" titles and silly thumbnails are enough to put me off.

@@pedoslayer275 over a hundred more than 11400..
Thanks for the review! It would be nice to have a comparison with 10400f though, to see the difference between generations.
This is probably is pretty late reply, but they should basically perform the same after all 11th gen chips are basically higher binned 10th gen parts with some perks like higher memory clock support and a better looking cooler. Either of them should offer you similar performance using a mid-range GPU thought 11400f offering a few frames more like 1 in 15. They both have same amount of cache memory just different clock speeds and can work on same motherboard.
@@goldnovaelite Well at this point there have been enough benchmarks out showing the 11400f is on average about 15% faster then the 10400f. This mostly comes down to having Rocket Lakes 10nm core architecture backported to 14nm for the better clocks. Really buying either one today would still make a great all-rounder PC for 90% of consumers.
@@onebigfatguy Yes, the raw performance is obviously going to be better. But realistically if you're pairing with a 3060Ti where games are GPU bottlenecked, the performance difference won't be a lot maybe 1 in 50 fps. Though it makes more sense to buy 11th gen CPU, but if you're getting 10th gen for a lot cheaper, then it's wiser to invest that money somewhere else.
The tables have turned! Intel is now the budget choice!
Intel has been the cost effective choice for a year since Zen 3 release and Zen 2 price's hike. Until TSMC new fab start large scale production (probably 5 years from now), Intel would still dominate the CPU market.
Not until AMD release their Ryzen 5 5600 non-X, they'll try their best to compete with Intel
@@sanguin3 but they still can't or will go below 3600
@@phralma1000BC They can go a little above, like $200 and have much better performance. AMD just can't easily give up their largest group of consumer like that.

How does Intel simultaneously make good value CPUs and bad value CPUs, kinda like Apple.
How much better is this compared to my ryzen 2600?
Quite a lot tbh, but if you can wait, I'd advise you to hold on instead.
Since 12th gen/Alder Lake should come by the end of this year & also maybe a 5600 (non-X) or Zen. 4. And these platforms are the last one's afaik, since both Intel & AMD would be introducing new chipsets/platforms this year, so the upgrade path is a bit better in that regard.
I bought a i5-10400 the other day. For (at the time) $150, its an amazing CPU, even for gaming.
The amount of effort that has gone into testing all this is enormous! great work. I look up to you.

Honestly just pay the $8 and get the i5 11400 and get the iGPU. It can be used as a backup iGPU and for things like Quick Sync. I see no reason to save $8 in this case. I needs to be about $20-30 cheaper.

Damn, that dark intro is so sweet!
Warning: the ASRock B560 ITX motherboard does NOT allow you to fully unlock the power limits, only up to 100W (and the processor seems capable of drawing 140W). This actually seems to be enough to reach 4190 MHz all-core in Cyberpunk 2077 (probably the most CPU-intense game), so that might only matter more for production workloads...
1:36 - I love what You did there! Wanted to see how it compares to my 10400F with similar power usage. It consumes 67W with -0.05V undervolt during the heaviest stress test I tried but runs at 4000Mhz.
The only thing that hinders this thing turn into a beast is GPU price lol
Here in Germany the 5600X costs exactly twice as much as the 11400F.
@@joseywoermann Not from what I saw in fps scores on another UA-cam video and based on simple percentage math. If you aren’t satisfied with the 10400f, the 11400f isn’t going to be a big enough improvement so you’re better off going to the next tier or 2 up. I don’t regret getting the 10400f when it was on sale for $140USD a few weeks ago. I was worried the 10400f price would be pushed down further, but it seems stable for now. I also got an ASROCK B560M-ITC/AC m/b, 1TB of NVME storage for the OS and games, 16GB of 3200MHz RAM, which likely boosted performance all around. I only brought over my old GPU and HDDs. The cheap Vetroo V5 CPU Cooler also works really well for this, but you need low/lower profile RAM if you’re going with ITX so that there’s clearance for the fan.
@@peterl.104 does nvme ssd slot on your b560 works with 10400? The specs says b560 gen 4 ssd slot only works with 11th gen
@@peterl.104 i never trust those fps score videos

@@joseywoermann also depends, are you planning on upping the power limit, as shown here or running t at 65watts.
Early test shows that 10400f is faster when limited to 65 watts, this also applies to games, particularly frame drop spikes.
@@muhammadazissetiabudi1228 it will work, but it will run on PCIE 3 instead of PCIE4.
You used a 360mm aio, that's insane, it would cost around $120 in india which makes the total package equal to 5600x.
I would argue the 10400F is better value still. $30-$50 cheaper, slightly slower but also needs less cooling.
And if you run on stock cooler, actually faster and higher lows in games.
ua-cam.com/video/2HGf5nN2uVQ/v-deo.html
Remember to get the B560 and not a b460, the b460 will not allow you to use XMP for your RAM so it will be stuck at 2666mhz

This man never disappoints! Now its all up to retailers and sellers to not hog up the stock and raise the prices..
How come you always make the most relevant content out of everyone? LOL
Thanks A LOT for this review, I was really considering buying this CPU for my second PC.
I am enjoying mine. paired with fast ram, m.2 ssd storage and a midrange graphics card i get pretty decent high end to medium results while gaming. i did OC the ram and the gpu and uncapped the power unit with plenty of room to spare to imporve the graphics card later.
umm, i have an 11400f, with a stock cooler, unlocked power limit, stays at 4.2ghz all the time, and it never gets hotter than 70C.
There are 2 caveats. First some Boards only allow 65W of Power and not 1 W more, keeping the CPU at ~3Ghz in worst case. And some Boards give it 150W of power...making it a toaster.
My Gigabyte Aorus B560 Pro uses 100W of Power to keep it at 4.2Ghz. Only until it reaches 80°C, then the CPU clocks itself down to 3.8Ghz.
I mean all this WITHOUT changing anything in the Bios.
The Ryzen 5600X on the other hand as a bit more performance and a lot less Power usage/lower Thermals. I only choose the 11400F, because i didn't need to change my RAM and Cooler for it.
Super review, straight to the point and exactly what we need in these "trying" times. Thx mate!
Don't sleep on the igpu on the regular 11400. Trash for gaming, but it can do a lot of video transcoding, streaming, adobe acceleration. Especially valuable if you pair it with an AMD card with a shit transcoder and less app support, or just an old gpu. If the rig becomes a Plex server or mom's computer, the igpu has value as well, if not just for testing. Uhd730 can do av1 encoding which most gpu's can't. Seems pretty worth for 10-25$.
building a new system next month and i ll go with a 11400f. fanboyerism is stupid to begin with, if its amd or intel, they are both companys that want your money and you should go with the option that gives the most value no matter wich one it is. And right now, i m paying the same price for an 11400f b560 as i would pay for a 3600 b550, with the only way to make the ryzen cheaper is to go with b450 and if i think of it: the i5 being an actual new 2021 cpu and it costs less than a ryzen 3600 that is 2 years old and its also faster in every way...why would i go ryzen here? One could argue, that am4 has the better socket because amd sockets last longer and you could in theory buy a x59xx in the future and potentially have an upgrade path but... honestly, for the budget oriented midrange consumer, this arguement is just pure speculaion. A budget user will in 99% of the cases NOT buy a new pc to upgrade to a new cpu in 2 years again, instead they go for the most bang at the time, and then hold on to it for years until they they finally need an upgrade and then jump on a new budget platform. Me, i m coming from an i5 3570k for example and its just recently in the last year or so that i am like: ''allright i really need more power'' And if my 3rd gen lasted me almost 10 years now (on the sidenote, i dont play new aaa games anyways but mostly league of legends, world of warships, elite dangerous, final fantasy 14 and stuff..multiplayer games...) how big are the odds...i actually need a new cpu in the next 2-3 years with an 11400f? right... pretty damn small...near non existent, and by the time the 11400f will slow down... there will be new plattforms and ddr5 and stuff anyways so why would i then go and ''upgrade'' to an old cpu? This entire ''upgrade path'' thing is kinda pointless for most. if the i5 11400f is the most bang for the buck i can possible get right now... i ll buy it..
Price of i5-11400F - £174 ($240)
Price of mATX - £65 ($90)
Price of cpu cooler - £30 ($41)
Total prce = £269
Price of new Ryzen 5600 = £269
For 5-15% difference in performance, actually a fair deal

Yeah. Intel is delusional naming an 8 core an i9. But the 11400f and is a down to earth product and is a good choice for anyone on a budget.
@@conyo985, and a great choice for anyone who doesn't want to go more than 6 cores.
Intel only advertises their K-chips... they want you to think you can only buy an i9-11900K or an i5-11600K... they're both terrible values, Intel just wants you to buy the more $$$ CPUs... Intel's real deals are their non-K chips.
@Optimum Tech how did you get your TDP measurements? On my ASRock Z590M-ITX when pushing 100% of max theoretical (4.2GHz on all cores, no power limit, no thermal throttling), I see 99W in XTU and ThrottleStop with the CPU at 65c, while your graph shows closer to 140W TDP. I cool using a Corsair H60. Now I know cooler CPU = more efficient, but 40 watts? That's a big difference. PS-Thanks for the good video, it influenced my purchase. Subscribed.
Glad to see intel is back (at least in the budget category)!
It was back since 10th gen. The 10700KF is another great option compared to AMD.
In all honesty, only the 9th gen was meh. 8th gen had the 8700k which competed with the 2700x and due to amd's rising popularity, the 2700x sold for more money(which isn't good for amd, at all).
9th gen competed with the real participants in the fight, the 3xxx series, which offered a great value for performance/core, and the 9th gen lost the fight quite bad.
7th gen had the 7700k, which although expensive, it still kicked the living shit out of first gen ryzen in games and was voted best gaming cpu for quite some time in it's day.
10th gen had some really good offerings compared to amd's 3xxx and 5xxx gens, like buying more cores for less money, which was AMD's major selling point from the start.
But the even truer story is, intel never lost the fight. They're not "shaking and trembling" anywhere near as the amd favouring media likes to depict. Here's why.
During Intel's worst technological year in the last decade and a half(or so?), Amd had their best financial and technological year since it was founded. With that in mind, intel made 13 times more money.
13 times. Their networking department alone made more.
They're not going anywhere. They're in military devices, advanced medical devices, super computers, more than 90% of what we call "professionals" as in large companies using pro gear and buildings full of servers is intel.
More than 8 out of 10 people that buy a laptop buy an intel one, due to brand name, reliability and availability.
Them having a bad year, or 5, doesn't make them go away.
It's just a shame that currently that $100 saved will only net you like a used gtx 980 instead of a 970, lol. For those that can actually afford a proper gpu like the 3080 right now, even the 11900k probably won't seem too expensive...
This cpu is insane. I have a r3 3200g and a b450 and I’m gonna upgrade. Even taking into account the price of a motherboard, I’m getting more performance per dollar than simply just buying a ryzen 5 5600x due to Canadian prices. Exited to finally be able to run warzone
Love the vids man, keep up the good work!
If you cannot find a graphic card for a decent price, I'd recommend just going with the 11600K and using its Intel UHD 750 onboard graphics. I know it sucks for now, but at least you'll be able to game on low to medium settings and have a much faster CPU in the long run. Once graphic card shortages are worked out you can buy one and disable the onboard UHD graphics.
As someone who just built a 5600x system, this is a very cool CPU option indeed.
Why isn't everyone like you?

In the video, you test the cpu temps with the stock cooler and with a 360mm AIO. Is that overkill? Could I get similar results by settling with a 2 fan cooler?
The i5 x400f is actually always the best CPU in the Intel lineup. Bought a 10400f on sale (110€) for my little cousin's gaming pc and the performance for the price is just insane. I am so excited to see what the 12400f will be able to do on 10nm!
Intel's TDP values are just a fkin joke. It's good value, sure, but you can't quite call it a "no-brainer" with how much attention you have to pay to the cooling and overall system consumption with this thing. It will be a proper budget option for a while tho~
